History
Polar is a low-level Arcosian and a member of the race's warrior caste. The son of Chilleon, a ruthless and prideful general, Polar found himself following his father's harsh training regimen. It wasn't done out of a particular care for his son, but rather in concern for preserving his own legacy.
Innocence was purged. Uncertainty was extinguished. Failure was met with severity. All weakness was removed. Polar became as cold as the wastes of Arcose. And he learned obedience. Yet this obedience was out of mere fear, not loyalty. Polar feared for his younger, weaker sister, Polara, and sought to protect her.
Polar's father used his son's exponential power to carry out tasks for him, such a eliminating a Saiyan scout. Eventually, Chilleon attempted to force Polar into killing Polara, claiming the latter was an 'embarrassment to the family'. When Polar refused, Chilleon tried to carry out the dead himself. This drove Polar to a blind fury, causing him to surpassed even his father's power in his sister's defense. Yet this power was wild and uncontrolled.
With no place left to go, the wayward son fled to space, in hopes of discovering the secret to controlling the new-found limits to his power that allowed him to defeat Chilleon. Thus, he scoured the galaxy.
However, Polar's pod was shot down over Planet Earth: the home of the humans. Weak and injured, over a course of weeks, the Arcosian found himself nursed back to health by an old farmer. As Polar returned to consciousness, he demanded answers from the human.
The elderly farmer introduced himself as Hakuri, and claimed he knew well of Polar's race, the Arcosians. Once a proud warrior of Earth, he retired from fighting when all the threats to Earth had been neutralized. However, he was still fully aware of the Saiyan-Arcosian War that raged throughout the galaxy: and he had many techniques to pass on.
With no way to escape Earth, Polar accepted Hakuri's offer for training and spent the next decade learning the old man's ways.
This training was not easy, but it was not quite the extent that his cruel father forced him through. Polar came to accept patience and humility over his species's naturally pompous attitude. He even managed to master a suppressed form, which helped him contain his great power. The rage that was instilled by his father's training was replaced with a sense of calm. He even came to regard Hakuri as a true father.
Nine year later, a Saiyan named Cabba traveled to Earth in search of the man who killed the great Arcose general, Chilleon. Upon landing, the warrior detected the nearest, highest power level: Hakuri's.
When Cabba neared the farm, he encountered Hakuri, who was working in the garden. The Saiyan demanded knowledge of Polar, though Hakuri resisted Cabba's intimidation. Unsatisfied with his response, the Saiyan fired a Ki blast, mortally wounding Hakuri.
The commotion awoke Polar, who came running out of the hut to investigate. He sighted Hakuri incapacitated and glanced up angrily at the warrior. Cabba then said something surprising. He asked Polar to come with him to join the Saiyan Solar Empire.
Furious, he naturally refused.
It was clear one of them was unlikely to leave alive; the Saiyan didn't seem fond of the word, no. Thus, the two of them dueled a long battle, with the rather powerful Saiyan nearly triumphing, only failing when the Arcosian fatally fired a Death Beam through his heart.
Polar then turned his attention to Hakuri, attempting to aid him, though the elder merely smiled, claiming his time among the living was over. He mused on how well he'd trained Polar, and died in his arms. Solemnly giving his old friend a moment of silence, he buried his mentor. Polar believed he deserved that much.
His time on Earth was over, and the Saiyan's arrival presented an opportunity.
Taking Cabba's pod, he ventured beyond Earth. He sought to return home to Arcose. However, word soon reached him of the Saiyan invasion of Arcose. With no other place to go, he set his course for Kanassa, the nearest planet, in hopes of taking refuge and perhaps gaining insight on the situation.
Personality Traits
Cold - Possessing the natural and signature trait of the Arcosian race, Polar has always been emotionally distant since his youth and rarely opens up unless totally necessary.
Aggressive and Ruthless - Being a warrior at heart, Polar is a reliable ally and petrifying enemy to have, respectively. Though he doesn't care to resort to fighting as much as he used to, he is able and willing and if he does, it rarely ends well.
Patient - A trait learned under his human mentor Master Hakuri, patience once eluded the young Arcosian, but as he matured, wised up, and strayed from his dark past, he learned to accept it as a useful tool.
Tactful - Much as he was impatient, the young warrior was also once very impulsive, but learned to chose his battles more wisely as he journeyed the stars and saw powers he never thought imaginable.
Perseverance - Very used to harsh conditions, Polar is a highly decisive individual that will see his goals completely; one way or another.
Distrusting and Judgmental - Once again a natural trait of the Arcosians, Polar always mistrusted others; particularly the Saiyan race. Though it has softened after his fateful encounter with them on Earth, he still keeps a watchful eye.
Thoughtful - As a man of little words, Polar keeps most of his words in his thoughts. He's also quite very attentive to his surroundings, which serves him well in a tactical sense. Of course, when he's not in the heat of battle, Polar has enough words to put together a little soliloquy. Some might call him a philosopher.
Loyal and Reliable - As cold and hateful as he can be, when Polar dedicates his loyalty to someone, it's one he takes very seriously. Sometimes he considers it a weakness, but he simply can't shake it off. He is not directly loyal to a banner (his hatred of Lord Chilleon shook his faith in the Arcosian Empire), but to the individual holding it.
Honorable - Though extremely ruthless at times, Polar possesses a sense of honor not quite usual for an Arcosian. Though it couldn't quite be described as full-blown mercy, Polar wouldn't often kill an opponent who couldn't fight back. Often, the Arcosian kicks himself for this apparent 'weakness'.
