Throughout most of his stay on Earth, Polar had avoided the metropolises as best as he could, especially since the battle on Earth. These earthlings were strange to him, and it seemed he was strange to them. So much so was he strange, he had to wear a hooded poncho to conceal himself, though it didn't hide the bulge of his horns nor did it extend past his knees.
None of them seemed to pay much attention, however. Many of them seemed far too focused on their rectangular glowing devices to even watch with they're going. The few who weren't fiddling with those peculiar things seemed rushed. So fortunately, despite how numerous these humans were, he seemed to blend in with the crowd.
Polar finally managed to slip in a small wooden pub, bumping his horn into the doorway on the way in. It didn't catch many stares, though, as the patrons seemed too consumed in their alcohol to care. He took a seat at the counter, tapping on the table for the bartender. As the bartender came over, he was wiping the glass, despite it being near glistening. He glanced up at Polar once, but had to take another long look to make sure what he saw was right.
"Huh, we don't get many of you types around here," the bartender said as his long beard shook with his mouth movements, "What can I get you?"
"Err..." Polar glanced up at the menu, not really sure what any of this meant, so he simply read the first thing that came in sight. "Wis-kay?"
The bartender turned and opened a bottle, pouring Polar a shot and handing him the glass. Polar quickly examined it and took a drink, only to spit it out.
"UGH!" he spit in disgusted, "This is ghastly!"
"Look, bud, I get you're a lightweight and all but at least spit it in the cup. Now I gotta clean your mess up!"
Polar snarled, "Yes, yes, just tell me where I can find a spaceship off this rock and I'll be on my merry way."
"Down the road, take a right, then head down the alleyway. Now get outta here! You're killin' everybody's buzz!"
Polar got up, taking out two pieces of zeni and passing them over to the bartender, and then walked out.
"Damn illegal aliens," the bartender mumbled angrily, resuming to clean off Polar's spit with the same rag he was using to clean the beer glasses.

Retsu had returned to the city. Once again he had been paid for his hard work on the farm that had taken him in, and he had decided to indulge himself in some fine Earth cuisine. He went about, purchasing various snacks and eating them as he went to get MORE snacks. Everything he ate tasted so good he just couldn't get enough. His fun times however ended when his Scouter went off, warning him of a power nearby, one just a tad stronger than his own.
He turned towards it quickly, his tail whipping about before he began heading towards it. High Power Levels always meant a fight. That had been true for every person he had encountered on the earth. He narrowed his eyes, his cold gaze scouring the area as his scouter scanned, only to lock on to Polar's signature. Retsu stopped and blinked, a tad bit surprised to see another of his kind on earth. He had met Defrosch not too long ago, but seeing yet another so soon caught him off guard.
He shook himself off, dropping his defense for a moment before he approached. The tapping of his feet would easily be heard as he approached Polar from the side.
"Didn't think I'd run into another of our kind here." He said. The 5'4" Arcosian Lord brought both of his arms behind his back, as he stared at Polar. "Good afternoon."

As he exited the pub, Polar continued to walk along the street. The backed-up foot traffic began to scattered as the turbulent lunch rush came to an end. Yet it didn't seem to be quite over for the horned figure sitting at a table under the shade of an umbrella just outside the cafe. He was munching away at the Earth food. Polar would've been a little disgusted if he didn't recognize the figure as an Arcosian.
An Arcosian, plain as day, sitting right in the open. It was enough to leave Polar in shock, his mouth agape. He only had one question: what was an Arcosian doing here, of all places?
I suppose I should ask myself the same question, Polar mused. Perhaps he came here too fleeing the onslaught of the Saiyans.
It didn't take long for the Arcosian to take note of Polar as well. Of course, he would be able to instantly recognize him. Even despite his best efforts with his worn-out grey poncho, it didn't hide his blue feet and hides, and it was barely keeping hidden his horns which were able to cut right through the cloth.
As Polar watched the Arcosian approach from out of the corner of his eye, he took note of his height. He was considerably shorter than Polar, who himself was unusually tall for a suppressed Arcosian. He had since reverted his face back to his usual grimace, not facing the Arcosian as he approached from his left.
"Didn't think I'd run into another of our kind here," said the Arcosian, "Good afternoon."
"Nor did I," Polar admitted, "I had thought the Saiyans wiped us out."

"The saiyans? Wipe us out?" Retsu shook his head, a soft chuckle escaped him. "A saiyan can barely wipe their face after eating. Wiping us out would be absolutely impossible for their tiny brains to understand."
Retsu crossed his arms and looked the other Arcosian up and down before putting a hand to his chest. He'd offer a deep bow before speaking up. "I am Lord Retsu. Former General of the Arcosian Empire." He took a few steps to his left, so that he and Polar could look at each other like normal people.
"How many times have you been attacked since you reached this planet?" He asked. "Because I've had but one peaceful encounter on this planet. Every other time has been nothing but a fight."

"My name is Polar, House Iver," Polar replied, "I was a soldier in General Taiga's army of the Arcosian Empire, but I doubt that means much anymore."
Polar crossed his arms as Retsu came to face him. His face was still stuck in a grimace, which was natural for him. He, like all Arcosians, were cold. It was their nature.
Retsu would then press the question asking him if how many times he'd been attacked, and went on to explain his many encounters on the planet. It wasn't entirely surprising to Polar. He had nothing but caution for these earthlings, and for good reason.
"I've tried to avoid confrontation most of my time here," explained Polar, "It's required a self-imposed exile into these planet's wastes, where I've been training. That isn't to say I haven't had a few run-ins. I was present for when the Saiyans attacked this planet."
He didn't go on to admit he had come face to face with one of the Saiyan leaders. That encounter was a bit personal to Polar.

"Its good you meed you Polar." He said. "I'm afraid I'm not familiar with General Taiga. I didn't much work with that many others in my career. Though a soldier is not a thing to frown upon." He looked the table over only to have Polar answer his question.
"I see. I would be lying if I said I was avoiding it. I challenge a human and Namekian to a fight and defeated them both. But that was a personal challenge. The only other time I can think I was in a fight was when a Human attempted to kill me for making noise." He frowned. "Kill that little bastard. It was clearly too stupid to live any longer..." He shook his head. "You said you've been training? Has it been paying off?"
Then came the mention of the Saiyans. "They... attacked earth? And it wasn't destroyed?" He looked about. "...You'll have to pardon my skepticism. This planet is beautiful. Not a wasteland like the saiyans usually leave in their wake."

To hear that one of the earthlings as Retsu described did throw Polar off. Even for their fiercely protective nature, he seemed awfully belligerent. Then again, maybe he was just mad. From the sound of it, Retsu made short work of him, which Polar was glad to hear. The galaxy was too chaotic already without stupid people running about.
Though as conflict avoidant as he may seemed, Polar was, in truth, yearning for a worthy foe if only to test his newfound abilities on. Sure, the Saiyan saga had shaken him a bit, but that was long over and the truth was that Polar was a fighter. It was what he was birthed for and what he lived for.
"I have developed some new techniques," Polar replied as the conversation took a shift.
Then the conversation quickly turned back around to the topic of the Saiyans. He couldn't seem to get past that no matter how hard he tried. Much to Polar's bewilderment, the Arcosian lord spoke of the incident as Polar described as if it never happened. It made Polar wonder how long this Lord Retsu was out of the loop.
"The defenders were fierce," Polar admitted, "Such is why I kept to the wilderness after a brief alliance. How do you not know this? Where were you when the Saiyans were on the warpath; when they destroyed Kanassa and Arcose?"

"Developing new techniques is always good. I've been working on a few myself. Finished one recently but I haven't really worked out all the kinks yet. Its usable in combat, but not to my satisfaction." Retsu frowned. "I have to keep working on it, in time It will work as intended."
He took a seat opposite of Polar at the table and tapped his scouter a few times, scanning various people around him before sitting back in the chair. Polar spoke of the Invasion, and the destruction of Arcose and Kanassa. Just thinking of Arcose left a sour taste in Retsu's mouth.
"I was regrettably unaware of the situation. I had conquered a planet far out on the rim of our Empire and was ruling it. As such I didn't have much contact with other Lords." He sighed softly. "That planet and its people were destroyed and there was nothing I could have done about it." He shut his eyes letting out a soft sigh. "Its for their sake I train...." He opened his eyes. "That, and my thirst for Revenge against the saiyans for what they did to Arcose."

Ah, so Retsu wasn't ignorant of what happened. That relieved Polar to some extent. As he spoke of it, he pointed out that he didn't know all the details, but there was clearly a bitterness in his tone and perhaps even a twinge of guilt.
"And powerful you are," Polar urged, "But there's only so much we can do here, I think. If you survived, there may be others."
Polar looked around at the buildings that surrounded them and the humans that walked the streets in herds before looking back to Retsu.
"We don't belong here."

"There is actually plenty for us to do here. I've met another arcosian here. Named Agent Vroze. He gave me a bit of a challenge, and decided I'd give it a shot. The challenge was to defend this planet while I am here." He nodded slowly before sighing. "But I have met one of this planets defenders, and been told of some others."
He shut his eyes, reminded of his meeting with Walker. He opened his eyes and looked to Polar. "... I met an odd tree like creature named Walker. His power level was over nine million. And apparently there are others stronger than him on this planet." He frowned and opened his eyes. "And apparently the Saiyan queen is that strong as well, which would explain why Arcose fell so easily."
He looked about the area as Polar did before listening to Polar's words. He was quiet for a short time as he thought these words over, before speaking up. "That may be true." He said. "But there is a reason we are here, even if we don't see it."

Another Arcosian? More had fled to this world than he could've imagined. He suppose it made sense. This world was unique. Everyone wanted to seem to get their talons into it. Yet that itself was an issue. Everyone wanted it.
He supposed that was why so many powerful people protected it. If everyone wants it, it only makes sense the strongest would dominate. During the battle for it, he remembered seeing a beings fighting in the millions, yet the highest was at five million. So even hearing a power level of nine million took him aback, making him wonder how strong the most powerful beings could possibly be if Retsu just casually brought his name up as if he meant nothing.
"You know...I was once told by my father that we as a species were the most powerful in the universe," Polar admitted, "I even believed it. But what an incredible lie that was. For all of our forms and transformations we can't muster the power that comes so naturally to a people so simple."
Polar turned away as Retsu noted that there may be some sort of destined reason for their arrival. He couldn't help but to roll his eyes.
"A reason? What reason could possibly be for us to be here? To protect this place? We are but two, and you have seen the powers they wield. We're insects next to them."

"We may be the strongest In our early years." He spoke. "But power is gained, not given. This is something I learned the hard way when the planet I ruled over was destroyed." He sighed softly, shaking his head. "As a species we are taught that we are strong, and some of us become cocky because of it. But I believe the mentality of "Theres always someone Stronger" Fits rather well with how things have turned out."
He watched Polar as he spoke before shutting his eyes. He let out a soft sigh. "Perhaps to protect this place.. Perhaps to rule it, Perhaps to destroy it? Who can really say. But what I do know is that this planet is beautiful, and has so many different people living upon it and protecting it." He opened his eyes. "Perhaps our reason for being here is so that while our people recover, we can be protected in the same way as the planet..."

Polar had always been pushed to the maximum and encouraged to enhance his powers, yet he never realized how truly impertinent that was until his time on Earth. There was so much power to be earned, power that he could never have even imagined.
But was Retsu correct? Was there /always/ someone stronger? Most beings he encountered were fairly normal. Few even reached the double digit thousands range, much less in the millions he'd seen. Were these exceptions to the rules of the game, or could this power be truly achieved?
While he was skeptical of his purpose here, he knew well that there was something about this planet that made people very powerful. Whilst the constantly fighting Saiyans could one day reach their godly Super Saiyan form, he couldn't imagine what exactly made the Earthlings so great.
Maybe that was why he found himself here.
"Whatever the reason is, I suppose we won't find it lingering here," Polar said, "Have you made any contacts while on this planet?"

He'd be silent and listen to what Polar had to say before nodding. "You are correct. Lingering about and feeling sorry for ourselves wont help us find the answer. We must seek it out." he motioned to Polar. "But our answers may be different. Mine may be to stay here and become strong, while yours might be something else."
He thought for a few moments before speaking up. "I've made a few contacts. There is a saiyan I consider a friend that I keep running into. Rafar he goes by. He's got a good head on his shoulders, and he's not like the other saiyan's I've met. I've also met a man made of wood named Walker. He was the one with the Nine million power level. He and I had a long peaceful discussion."
