Thread PL: 13,534 Polara was sitting in the chilly heights on Yunzabit; how cold it had been was like a fresh breath of air compared to Yardrat with its booming business and loud crowds. The only thing out here, however, was the howling wind and frozen turf; laced with powdery white snow. Her ship was parked nearby, a small bit away from Mt. Frappe and in camoflauge mode; to blend with the chilly white snow around her and the gray mountains. She sat upon a mountain with her eyes closed, legs crossed, and arms on her legs as she merely listened to the howling wind. She had been trained to withstand cold conditions; the cold merely feeling like what normal humans would call spring to her. Not too hot; not too cold. Perfect, the way she loved it. The cold felt amazing on her skin, the air clean and fresh, cold in her mouth every time she took a 'breath'. Everything was fine, until a ki that was fairly larger than hers caught her attention. It felt like another Arcosian, but weirdly similar to her own ki. Confused, and curious, the military commander slipped down from her pedestal and crept closer, muffling her ki and hiding amongst the snow. The faint glimmer of her bio-gems were the only thing to give it away, however.. Polar

Just as he'd been doing, Polar sat in the wastes of Yunzabit. It had almost become a home away from home while on Earth. And why not? It was a lot like Arcose. Likewise, he was relatively undisturbed, most of the time. Perhaps, as of late, he'd experienced unwanted guests, but that'd been much of his stay. He had to admit, though, that the lone cold was becoming a bit monotonous.
He also came to warm a bit to the people of this planet a bit. Maybe they weren't so bigoted. He could even describe some as kind. That was an alien attitude for Polar, who came to accept coldness as a being's inherent nature, but it was also pleasant if a little difficult to adjust to.
Still, he had to admit he was eager to return to the Empire, or whatever might remain. His encounter with Retsu struck in him some hope that his people may have survived and that was something.
That would wait, though. Polar was far too weary. He needed some rest. Using an old trick he learned from Hakuri, Polar sat down crosslegged and closed his eyes while sitting up. As he entered a trance-like state, he opened his mind up and felt a rush of ki rejuvenating him. It was a lot like sleep, though much more recuperative and allowed him to remain somewhat semi-conscious.
Not conscious enough, however, to hear the bleeping of his scouter as a being in the distance came rushing at over seven miles an hour...

Polara crept closer, ki muffled as her navy blue eyes gazed upon the being that soon came into sight. The similarity of the two in shape and color surprised her while also triggering a single memory. A voice of a deep male- their father? Then there was something else. Something that sounded like her name coming from the being with disappointment lacing their tone. The memory cut off as she remembered another part of it, where her father and the supposed other male, sounding younger, were fighting. The memory became high-definition clear as she suddenly remembered the rest better after focusing enough. The last moments between her and her brother were together, where Polar was saying goodbye, and to tell her to be safe.
Something in her heart twisted; whether it was in sadness or confusion she didn't really know. Was this really her brother, after almost one hundred years, was he sitting right in front of her? Why am I being such a coward. I need to find this out now or I won't be able to later. And with that, the black and white arcosian steeled herself and began slowly walking up to Polar. A familiar footstep pattern if Polar was really her brother, and if he remembered. She stood about a fair five feet away, and merely looked at her supposed brother. Was this really her brother?

It wasn't the scouter that awoken Polar from his state of trance, but rather the strangely familiar pitter patter of footprints behind him. Though Polara seemed careless in his stepping, it would take someone of ninja-like observational skills to notice the small details. Polar had learned these skills during his youth.
Unfortunately, his youth had made him somewhat suspicious of attention, even if recent events had somewhat dulled that feeling. And however familiar the footprints might be, that wasn't Polar's focus. His focus was on the unwanted visitor coming from behind--in a frozen wasteland no less. That, to him, represented danger.
"You've made a grievous error," Polar said, standing up and turning around and training his pointed finger on Polara. "Now I suggest you state your intention before I--"
Polar paused as he caught sight of who the intruder was. His eyes widened and his mouth was agape. He said nothing, and his finger slowly fell. It couldn't be. It just seemed impossible. The sister he had left over a half-century ago, the one he loved more than anything, was standing before it. He could hardly believe it. It had to be a sick trick from his imagination, from some sort madness caused by the long time alone.
Yet it was real, from what Polar could perceive, and it took him a moment to process it. It was just as real as the snow below his feet and the wind brushing his face.
Polara Thermia was alive.

Polara blinked as Polar turned a finger on her, stepping back once until she noticed his finger begin to fall. He seemed to not like her, until she noticed his facial features change; eyes widening and his mouth falling open. She met his eyes with her own, soft cyan orbs meeting those of her brother. "... Polar.. is that really you?" The female whispered quietly, tilting her head as she took a single step forward. The memories in her head were ever clear, thee goodbye from over half a century ago was sharper than ever. It was unreal, this was something she was extremely surprised about. It couldn't be, could it?
Was this her brother, was he alive?

It took a moment for the Arcosian to compose himself. He wasn't about to break down and cry, of course. That just wasn't who he was. However, the shock was still there. He blinked a few times, them lowered his guard a bit and squinted his eyes.
"So it seems."
He didn't want to remember that day. He couldn't. It would be too much for him. But he did remember his sister. For a time, she was everything to him. When he left her, he never expected to see her again. He even suspected she had died at Arcose. Yet here she was, in the flesh.

Polara looked at Polar with soft cyan eyes, still the same color as their last few moments before they had departed ways. Sure it had been a half century ago, but the female remembered her brother's appearance with striking precision. "Polar.. I.. I'm so happy you're alive! I thought the Solar Empire had killed you.." Her tone was soft, happy yet almost about ready to cry. She was still the softhearted sister Polar would have known; despite her at first cool and indifferent exterior lay a warm heart toward family and loved ones "...Why did you leave that day.. How come you wouldn't let me go with you?"

She was still the sweet girl that Polar had left behind. It made Polar feel something he hadn't felt in a long time; a swear of joy, in knowing that even these hard times couldn't harden her like it did him.
Then she asked the difficult question. A question Polar had been asking himself since he'd gone away.
"We both knew Father's minions would never accept his...passing. They would hunt the culprit. If I had taken you, you would've been pinned as an accessory to the crime had I taken."
But that wasn't the full story. Polar had left for more reasons than just the surface. In truth, he wanted to find himself--a real purpose that went beyond being Chilleon's attack dog. Yet all he had found in his journey was loss.

Polara looked at Polar, tail slowly swishing behind her as she listened to what her brother had to say. The crime of their father's murder was strong, watching the final blow be dealt still rung a bell in her head, deep in her subconscious. "But still.. I don't think thats the full reason why you left.. we used to tell each other everything, what happened to that, what happened to us? I wish I could have found you sooner, I missed you.."

Polar couldn't even look her directly in the eye. He felt guilt for leaving her behind. The truth was that, if he could, he would've taken her with him. But he knew that would be selfish. Life would've been easier for on Arcose. Or so he thought.
He paused for a while. The Arcosian had very little to say. There wasn't much he could say. 'Sorry I left you behind' seemed like a poor consolation at best.
"How did you get here?" he finally asked.

Polara looked at Polar, seeking an answer from the brother she'd lost so long ago. Her cyan eyes looked to his, searching for the answer within his eyes. She would have rather gone with him than be separated from her brother, and her tail slowly swayed behind her. "I got here by getting a ship and flying here.. my ship is not too far from this location if you wish to see it.." Her tone was slightly sad, yet her eyes showed the happiness she was feeling to know her brother was alive.
