"Collard's Dialogue" 'Collard's Telepathy' 'Collard's Thoughts'
FATHER-SON BONDING "Hey, dad!! Quick, look at this!!" Capper hollered, standing in front of a thick river flowing through the center of the deepest reaches of the Tuffle Ruins. Capper used to raid these places for parts all the time, but he never dared to go this deep before. It was usually impossible to breathe without faltering to the thick gasses that elapsed the normally red sky with a purple color, but the little genius saiyan had a way. Engineering some space suits to help filter the air of the gas, Capper was able to survive in the deep Destron Crags without inhaling the noxious fumes surrounding them. The suits were mostly a light gray pigment, with a darker gray backpack which sported several gas tanks connecting to the glass helmet atop Capper's head. Darker gray stretchy fabric covered the joints of the suit for better flexibility, but every inch was padded with enough fabric to keep the gas where it should be- out. The saiyan boy was considerate enough to leave a note back home along with a couple spare suits in case any of his family wanted to follow.
It was awful hard to see, even with his Scouter's headlight. Capper's breath steamed up on the glass, partially fogging out his view. But that didn't matter now. Collard, Capper's precious father had tagged along with his son to go on one of his little adventures while Chire, Capper's mother, was out with her squadron on a mission. He had been much more open and adventurous ever since he returned from Earth. Before, the saiyan hardly left the house-- he'd only leave when he was dead low on supplies, and with both of his parents for protection. Collard was proud of how far his frail son had come. In his eyes, Capper was perhaps one of the strongest of the Hoffersons. He even managed to summon his own blaster! That spoke quite highly of the saiyan engineer's resolve.
Tagging along behind Capper and hopping around some stray debris, the father finally caught up to his son, who was crouched down in front of a river. Instantly, Collard raised a brow. The liquid flowing through was thick and dark, with a musty purple color. It was much like the foggy air above, except liquid in form. Capper put his hand in the strange water, letting it flow through his fingers. It was like ketchup in terms of texture, thick and slowly flowing through the crevasse below. Turning his head, Collard noted that the strange flow of purple liquid snaked down and meandered into a tunnel, which resembled some kind of sewer pipe. He could spot stray, shiny debris and mechanical parts floating in the waters, and even an old spaceship or two. Bones of various creatures littered the riverbank.
The river seemed to gobble up and sink every last thing that fell into it, though. Capper raised his hand from the liquid, stretching his fingers and fidgeting with the purple fluid. It was thick and sticky-- some kind of goop, perhaps? Shaking his hand, Capper noted some purple stains on his glove, and a faint burning sensation on his hand. Both Hoffersons could also hear faint sloshing and roaring down the sewer pipe. It went deep, for sure.
"...Hm. What do you suppose this is? And where does it go?" Collard questioned, folding his arms and tilting his head to the side with a raised brow. Capper rubbed the back of his helmet with his clean hand, speaking in response to his father. "I can hypothesize that this might be some contaminated sewer system. Judging by the air and other noxious substances around here, it could be the case." Capper narrowed his eyes at the water before standing back up, turning to his father in the matching space suit. "Whatever it is, I don't think it'll be very pleasant if someone with exposed skin touches it. Just a thought." Capper spoke, looking at the stain on his right glove. Curious, the saiyan dipped his peg leg into the waters, pulling out the metal after hearing a faint hiss. The waters had dissolved some of the sides of the titanium leg, although it was nothing that would hinder his strides. So it dissolved metal too? Curious.
Both of the rather systematic and nerdy Hoffersons were mildly curious. Very few strayed this far into the Destron Crags-- was this perhaps one of the reasons? A liquid that dissolved metal and burned to the touch with an odd texture and unknown source... Tapping his metal foot on the ground, Capper turned to his father. "So, uh, what's the plan, dad?" Capper spoke, tilting his head with a meek expression. Follow the river, or head back home? They already found enough supplies, but there could be an undiscovered goldmine of nerdy gear beyond this!
Sighing for a moment at his son's surprising lack of preparation, Collard opened his mouth to speak, only to hear a loud beep from Capper's space suit. Tapping his Scouter, Capper noted an approaching power! Oh, of all the times... Shaking his head, Capper eyed the unidentified person's signature while their form was sheathed in the fog. What would bring someone else this deep into the Tuffle Ruins?
Meanwhile, from the other side of the river, which was concealed by a thick fog, two bright yellow eyes locked onto the two saiyans on the other bank, shrinking and expanding a few times while the faint sound of machinery whirred...

So far things were looking alright, all things considered. Whilst the soil throughout and around the Tuffle Ruins was an absolute wasteland, the techniques of the Simians were slowly managing to regrow some semblance of their original jungle homeworld. It was an interesting struggle at the cellular level to consider. Which would prove superior and be the dominant feature? The lethal flora of a world formerly populated by gargantuan humanoid beasts, or the treacherous soil of a long dead race of scientists that fell to the Saiyans of the past? With time and care, Brassica could see these ruins and wastes eventually being transformed into a literal urban jungle... the next trick would be to keep the Solar Saiyan Empire from trying to rapidly harvest said jungle for its materials. Of course, there was still the issue of the water supply.
The nearby Destron Crags had recently gouged out some sort of liquid, but earlier attempts to test it for a reliable source of water proved near-fatal. At least the Simians that had done the testing had only used their tails instead of their faces... the effects had been nearly instantaneous. It had taken some quick work to redirect the river of acid so that it wouldn't come near the Simian's settlement, nor their slowly growing jungle. The real issue was though, where had this liquid come from? The source was clearly from the Destron Crags, but the question of how to approach it was annoying. The gases in that region were near lethal as far as Brassica was aware, and only the truly desperate or moronic would willingly go in there without some sort of protection.
She sat in her throne chair in the ship/central hub center of the Simian settlement pondering the situation when the ships sensors detected movement from within the Crags, as well as some sort of signal. The short haired Saiyan female frowned before looking at the monitor, tapping it to make sure that it wasn't just some sort of malfunction or sensor echo. She had built this ship from random parts from various assorted ships that had come to the world she'd been sent to... but it appeared like everything was in working order.
"If someone is there... maybe they can find the source of the acid river for me." mused Brassica before she tried to open a communications line to whoever was in the Destron Crags. "Hello? Whoever's in the Crags, can you hear me? Hello?" she called out, rotating the frequency on all channels to try and find whichever one their communicators were on. "This is Brassica in the Tuffle Ruins... please respond if you can hear me." she requested, hoping that whoever was on the other end wasn't a complete moron, or else this was going to be a very embarrassing conversation.

Purika's ship would land in the Destron Crags of the Ancient Tuffle Ruins, after coming from the Capital of Planet Vegeta, Cacumber. It's lights would shine through the foggy gas, before landing on the hard soil. He wanted to come explore this place as he never had a chance to do so. He was also being paid a bit for charting out the territories. He was hired specifically because not many people wanted to come to this place, so he wanted to figure out why. The person who hired him sent a message to him, telling him why. The Poison Gas. It was a good thing he had filtering masks and goggles with him. He'd grab them out of the supply room, and so would his legionaries, which had decided to come with him, as they had never been here before also.
Purika would speak to the legionaries over a communications device, as his speech was muffled over the filtering masks. "Go through the airlock, we don't want this shit getting in the ship." They nodded, before they all exited through the roofs airlock. Purika would float out of the top of the ship, turning on a light attached to his armor. He'd float around, looking at the fallen buildings and the floating gas. "I'd probably be dead already if I inhaled this shit." The legionaries would float out after him, scanning the place also. Purika would float downwards beside the ship, landing on the hard soil. Purika walked around, before accidentally stepping in some sort. It stung his leg, immediately triggering his reflexes. "What is this shit...!?" Purika lifted his leg, which had coated itself in ki due to his reflexes. He'd call his legionaries over his communications device.
"Watch where you step, and don't step in anything purple. It'll sting you." He looked around, finding bones scattered across and rubble from buildings. Purika would mumble. "Some real shit must've went down here back in the day for something like this to happen." He heard some voices over in the distance, and he would go and check it out, but would interrupted by someone talking over a communications line that he was listening too. The voice sounded feminine, with the person on the other side saying her name was Brassica, who was apparently trying to get a hold of someone. Purika responded. "I hear you loud and clear Brassica, this is Purika." Purika then continued scanning the area, when his scouter picked up some nearby power levels. He'd check them out later after he spoke with the female on the other line.

The serpentine fiend picked her way through the ruins, grumbling as she shifted within the space suit she had taken from Capper's home. "At least he left a note" she murmured. Her could've just left her to panic about his absence, but the little saiyan had been thoughtful enough to make sure those who hadn't gone with him knew where he was. Jormungandr appreciated that. The space suit was rather uncomfortable though. She really didn't like the way its interior rubbed against her scales. She resolved to ask Capper to make one that was more suitable for her use, afterwards. It wouldn't be too great a request would it? the demon pondered that, and eventually decided to just mention it offhand so she wouldn't seem pushy. Finally, she heard voices to her left, and began making her way to a river she saw in the distance, narrowing her eyes as she searched for the familiar figures she knew would be somewhere around here. "CAPPER?" she called.

"Collard's Dialogue" 'Collard's Telepathy' 'Collard's Thoughts'
FATHER-SON BONDING Standing at the foot of the riverbed while staring at the ruined sewer entry where it seemed to stream from, Collard was the first to note a familair voice reaching out to the transmitters in their suits- it was Brassica, the saiyan they had met when Capper reunited with he and Chire at the bar! It was nice to hear a familiar voice, and Capper seemed pleased to hear Brassica as well. "Collard and Capper here. We hear you." The saiyan father spoke first, a strange static eclipsing his voice somewhat- it was as if something was interfering with the connection between the two...
"We're just doin' a supply run. You won't believe the stuff people leave out here!" Capper rang cheerily before continuing. "I've found two spaceship wrecks full of parts, a couple plasma blasters, and even a whole engine from a Royal Spaceship!" The saiyan spoke, happily turning around to eye a bag filled to the brim with parts that his father was trudging around. This was a good supply run.
But soon enough, Capper heard another voice ring on the line Brassica had sent out. It was eerily familiar, sending a shiver down Capper's spine. "Hmmm... Where have I heard your voice befo--" Then it struck the little saiyan boy. Back on Earth, in Ginger Town! "Oh." He... He was the one that caused the cave in inside the catacombs! He was the one that caused Capper to loose his foot! "Oh Kais ALMIGHTY." Capper rang, a trace of fear and anger in his shaking tone. Collard raised a brow, and so did another entity on the other side of the river. "What is it, son?"
The father questioned, his voice ringing across their radio communication to Purika and Brassica. His voice shaking with a mixture of rage and fear, the little saiyan rang out. "YOU'RE that clod that made me have to AMPUTATE my FOOT!" He snarled, earning a shocked glance from his father. He knew Capper lost a foot on Earth, but his son was reluctant to talk about how... Instantly, the father knelt down to Capper, putting his hands on the trembling engineer's shoulders. "Capper. Calm down. Nobody's hurting you so long as I--"
With that, another voice echoed around the area, belonging to Jormungandr. Sighing in relief, Collard continued to comfort his son. "So long as Jormungandr and I are around, nobody's touching you. Mark my words." Capper's breathing calmed, and the saiyan looked up to his father. "Y-yeah... Okay..." He spoke, sounding somewhat calmer and a little shocked. Shaking his head, Capper turned his head, opening his mouth to speak once more. Yet, the saiyan narrowed his eyes, spotting a faint yellow flicker across the riverbed smog. What... What was that? Soon enough, the glow sparked brightly behind Collard, causing Capper to gasp when it bolted forwards through the smog! "D-DAD!!! WATCH OUT!!!"
The mystery shape seemed intent on smacking Collard with some type of attack that was shrouded in the smog. Collard whipped around, but the father wasn't fast enough to ready his own technique in response to the mystery attacker. If someone didn't help Capper's father soon, he'd be in some trouble...

Brassica was surprised when she got not one, but two replies to her hails. "Huh, guess I managed to wire the communications array properly then." she muttered to herself before she focused on the channels themselves. It seemed that this Purika person wasn't too far off from where this Capper kid was... aaaand they had history. Oh boy. Before she could make her request however regarding the possible investigation about the source of the acidic river, the sensors picked up something massive near where Capper was, and by the response she heard from the kid, it seemed that the father was in trouble.
"Purika, Capper's team is on your right, approximately two clicks. There's some sort of thing with them, my sensors can't get a good reading on it, but whatever it is its big. Best bet, it's some left over robot gone rogue, or a local mutant." she relayed to him, biting her lip as all she could do from here was watch the events as they unfolded. She didn't have any sort of gear that would protect her from the effects of the gases in that region, another thing to add to her list of supplies she had to acquire. The situation with the river would have to wait till this matter was settled.

Purika continued looking at the stream of flowing goop. His flashlight, which was attached to his armor, shined through the smog to help increase vision. While listening to a familiar voice, saying he recognized him and was trying to pinpoint who they were, he heard a feminine voice in the distance. This voice was familiar as well, and it called out the name 'CAPPER'. Purika realized this was Capper that was speaking. That reminded him that he hadn't turned his scouter, which was built-in to his goggles that protected his eyes, on. Purika picked up a few signatures. Four came up, showing the locations of all of them. He listened as Capper insulted him, by calling him a 'clod'. He had no idea what this meant and had no intent to figure it out. He turned his communications device on. "Yep, it's me." Purika paused, he never gave Capper the details on what happened. "About that, I wasn't going to sit there and die for your foot." Purika listened as Brassica gave him some details. Purika listened as Capper suddenly shouted for his father to watch out for something. So his father was with him, interesting. Now he was going to reply to Brassica.
"Thanks for the info, but I've already found out where they are. Also the thing is a robot, I can't pick the signature up. No animal or mutant could live out here anyways." Remembering the voice from earlier, his brain figured out who it was. Someone who he had ran into a few times, Jormungandr. He couldn't shout out to her, as his voice would be muffled by his filtering mask. "I'll go help them out." Purika turned off his communications device, before flickering from his current location and appearing beside Capper. "If I can't see it or pick it up, I can't fight it." With this said, Purika would grunt, bringing some ki out of him, causing a pulse that sent quite a bit of the smog back. Whatever was attacking Capper's father was visible now.

Jormungandr's eyes widened as she saw a bright yellow flash, and the moment she focused her attention in its direction she sensed the energies of Capper and Collard. Her eyes going even wider as her heart skipped a beat, the demoness shot into the air, rushing towards the familiar signatures and desperately praying she'd be in time to keep Capper safe. Rationally, she knew that Collard would probably be able to protect the diminutive saiyan on his own, but rationality and Capper rarely came anywhere near each other in the serpent's thoughts. She arrived just in time to see the robot attack Collard, and she wasted no time. Abruptly dropping from the sky, she attempted to dive onto the attacker and knock them to the ground, where she and Capper's father could destroy them before they were able to recover.

FATHER-SON BONDING Collard whipped around as golden light danced around his form. Within moments, the saiyan father's form would pulse with energy as he transformed into a Super Saiyan! The pair of yellow eyes narrowed as streaks of light blue energy lit up the smog. Capper quickly pushed his father aside, knocking the Super Saiyan to the ground in an effort to get him out of harm's way. But before the strange robot could attack, Jormungadr would come and attempt to knock the bot to the ground!
Capper would let out a gasp alongside his father when Jormungandr landed atop the mysterious robot, but not before it could regain it's footing and grab the snake woman's garbs. Up close and personal with the hostile stranger now, Jormungandr would hear a low hiss, followed by slow breaths. A floating skull would materialize near the snake, letting loose a roar as the robot tried to grab and throw the demon off! Purkia appeared beside Capper and his battle ready father, letting loose a kiai that blew away the smog, revealing their attacker.
The father-son duo's expressions softened to confusion when they saw their attacker. The robot was humanoid, even sporting a saiyan tail jutting out of his rear. Messy brown hair similar in color to Collard's own spiked of in all directions, while a pair of yellow eyes with black sclera were locked onto the group. The robotic saiyan donned navy blue and yellow armor, with several slits in his torso and arms to let the golden light seep out. Glancing around, Capper noted the presence of a dozen canine skulls surrounding the group, all visible thanks to Purika's gust attack. And they were charging up energy...
The "saiyan" attacker landed on the ground, eyeing Purika, Capper, Jormungandr, and Collard- whom was still on the ground from Capper's shove. Two more of the strange canine skulls were equipped onto his hands. Raising one forwards, he'd aim a blast of energy at little Capper, narrowing his eyes... Capper just narrowed his eyes back, putting his hands on his hips. Collard on the other hand, seemed quite unamused. Letting his bony weapons dissipate into nothing, the stranger would speak. "Good." The android spoke, his tone cold as ice. "You are worthy."
"Hey, gramps!" Capper would ring, now a little more cheery since his old man wasn't trying to attack them anymore. Collard stood himself up, brushing himself off and sighing. "Father, can you please NOT attack my son and his friends like that?" Collard spoke in a tired tone. The android grandfather of Capper grunted, speaking once more in a monotone, unfeeling voice. "I was trying to attack YOU, actually." He'd speak, his tail swaying impatiently behind him. "But this snake, saiyan, and your own weak son seem to have sharper reflexes than you." The father of Collard spoke, crossing his metallic arms and pointing to his ex-foes as he spoke. Collard snapped back, speaking with a bit of anger and annoyance. "We're in a barren wasteland!" The father pointed out, gesturing widely to their surroundings. Nobody would come out here and pick a fight in the right mind. His father would speak again in that same tired and monotone voice. "That is no excuse. Your enemies will not spare you merely because you're in a barren wasteland."
Collard huffed, rubbing the bridge of his nose while Capper laughed with a meek tone. Now was really not the time for his father to be testing them. "Sooo, uh..." Capper spoke, trotting up to his father's father. Clearing his throat, the saiyan boy would speak to his allies, introducing the android attacker. "Everyone, this is my grandpa Courgi! Grandpa Courgi, this is everyone." Capper spoke, gesturing to Courgi, then the group. The android tapped a few buttons on his arm, now speaking on the same channel as Brassica, Purika, and the two other Hoffersons. "Sup." Was the attacker's only response. He had the same straight expression on this whole time as well. Capper clasped his hands together, sweating a little with a smile, hoping everyone wouldn't be too peeved at his grandfather...

Brassica watched the activity as best she could on the Ark's tracking monitor screen, whilst listening in to the open channels. Whatever this machine was it was handling Capper's group rather well, right up until she heard the boy finally identify their assailant as being his grandfather. Brassica gave a slight chuckle and a sigh of relief. It was just the boys grandfather deciding to give them an impromptu combat lesson to his offsprings offspring. With that all sorted out, the short haired Saiyaness decided that perhaps now would be a good time to make her request.
"So, perhaps your grandfather can answer this if he's had enough time to set up this cunning trap test for you." she said over the transmitter. "There's some sort of acidic river that's managed to flow out from that region, and is currently threatening to spill into the refugee settlement I'm safeguarding. I don't have any gear that can survive the Destron Crag's environment so I can't personally handle the situation, but perhaps you'd know the source of the river and could perhaps block it off before it spreads further?" Brassica requested of the Hofferson clan.
