Even in his reduced state, both physically and mentally, the demon had a pretty good understanding of his place in the world. He was at the bottom of the food chain. He was the dried bones of brittle creatures buried beneath the dirt. He was the prime prey of any predator worth their leathery hide. He was the guy who came up with terrible analogies, but continued making them because he didn't know how else to establish the pacing of any given written piece. Nabel knew that he would always be a whelp with no real business interacting within the world of men, women and everyone in between. Yet the boy continued to do so with gusto. Every day of his (literally, very, very literally) painful life (like, for real, he had rotten wounds that hadn't healed in ten years), the lad had pushed himself out there to interact with the rest of the word. Whether as a poorly-paid pencil pusher, or a starving martial artist, Nabel wanted nothing more than to root up his established ranking on the hypothetical universal badass list. He had gone through his fair share of hardships, even if his melded mind had eroded some of the details over time, and let other ones fill in the gaps. Yet even with all of his battles against his own self-doubt, the boy was still conflicted. Something was holding him back, preventing him from fully mastering his abilities, and he had a good feeling that he knew what it was. It wasn't just grief, but a more tangible feeling. A memory, he guessed, one that had been buried beneath his backlog of head trauma and booze blackouts. And it was one of great importance to him, or at least, it had been at some point. These thoughts raced through his brain as he traveled through the Yunzabit Highlands, in search of bandits or brawlers, anything to keep his body while his mind dug through the archives. After all, as a martial artist, it was Nabel's responsibility to somehow achieve that mythical feat of enlightenment. And while throwing himself into fights with random strangers wasn't exactly the best way to go about things, the demon still followed this particular path to a spiritual breakthrough. Not only was it simple, it was also an extremely enjoyable task. He held a particular passion for combat after all, even if his morality had softened to the point of actual goodness. And no amount of internal turmoil would stop him from having his fair share of fun. Now if only he could actually find someone to challenge to communication on a physical plane'

”Now, if I’m correct, which I always am, then we should be right in the West Capit-”
Zexama was rudely cut off by the sound of her sentient scouter making its usual annoying sound which it claimed was talking, Zexama still wasn’t convinced. ”Zexama, you’re wrong. Like usual you stupid pinkie! We aren’t in the West Capital, we’re in the Yunzabit Highlands dumb dumb. Don’t you notice that there’s thick snow all around us? I really hate you, by the way.” Zexama was absolutely shocked by how the scouter was acting. He was usually incredibly jolly and tried to help Zexama whenever possible. For now, Zexama decided to ignore his attitude and instead go on a full out communication war.
”I KNOW! Maybe you should get your microphone checked because it’s obviously broken you bunch of bolts. I was GOING TO SAY, West Capital is boring and we are actually in the Yuni, uh, Yuni zoo of… low lands! I’m pretty sure that’s it… or is the-” Zexama was stopped by a sudden realisation of where she was. Through her right eye she saw the screen of the scouter with her current destination in the top right. Reading it out as quickly as she could without thinking what she was saying, made her sound like a complete idiot. ”Sorry, what I meant to say was, I’m a really big idiot that doesn’t know where we are. Wait a minute that doesn’t seem right, that’s way too long of a name…”
Zexama shook her head in denial and pouted her chest out and walked forward in a pissy mood. The scouter hadn’t said anything after that besides silent mumbles that sound very angry towards the pink majin child. ”You know what, how the hell am I meant to get out of this place, the storm is so thick I can’t see a thing.” It was true, the storm was getting thicker and thicker to the point she actually got a bit worried about not being able to see even one metre ahead of her. ”If only you could fly, then you’d be able to escape…” Zexama grunted at the scouter in annoyance before beginning to stomp her feet as she walked. She was getting increasingly annoyed with the attitude that the scouter presented before her feet stomped on nothing. Losing her balance she tip forward and began to fall at a uneasy speed. Using her head, she made her head face downwards encase something dangerous was at the bottom. Yes, Zexama was currently falling down a massive cliff until all of a sudden she hit her head against something.
While upside down and balancing herself on top of something she looked up from her perspective and quickly noticed that the thing she was balancing herself on was a living humanoid thing. ”Oh! I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you, I’m just looking for, uh, I don’t know really.” Zexama began to worry whether or not she killed the stranger since the drop was quite large and she felt a lot of force when she hit them.

Zex is silly and adorable and I need more of her in my life. "..!"Sheer spite was the only thing that kept Nabel conscious, as a single eyeball still rolled around rapidly in his skill. Oddly enough, it wasn't the demon's own emotions that fueled this pointless resistance, even as the boy rubbed his only hand around the parts of his pained skull that weren't covered in ooze. And while the lad didn't know why that mystery had fallen on him, or why it felt like he was being assailed by magical bricks that were equal parts sentient and violent, he did seem to pick up on it being sentient at least.
"Hey there-" Nabel spoke up worriedly, a tone of concern taking shape as he kept perfectly still. "It is coolie, yo , stranger. I'm more worried about you." He continued in a tiny voice. The child didn't exactly understand what had just happened, but it didn't take a genius to realize that it probably really hurt to fall from unimaginable heights, and land down on something only to be impaled on a stout pair of horns.. And given that whatever passed for this goopy girl's cranium had swallowed up the babyish demon's tingling stabby stumps, perhaps that fear was justified. He couldn't think of many people that could survive that fall.
Just as how most of the Earth's denizens couldn't take a hit from that kind of velocity. Until mere seconds ago, Nabel didn't think that he could either, but it seemed like sheer accidents always gave one critical information that might have been passed up if they were playing it safe. Thankfully, the boy's pain was superseded by his sudden adrenaline. Though that drive for basically anything involving cheap thrills was also overshadowed, mostly by the tainted ki that suddenly emerged from the boy. Evil waves of energy eventually crescendoed, as the boy continued to inadvertently power up.
The darkness that was fueling him now didn't even seem to be a complete part of the lad. Rather, it was sample of his essence that had somehow gained its own form of sentience. Thankfully, it didn't seem to have the ability to puppeteer Nabel as it pleased, allowing the boy to retain full cognitive control of his abilities. Sure a disembodied energy was currently healing the open stitches of his sore body, but it didn't seem to phase the boy as much as the stranger's fall had.
"Are you alright, gooey gal?" He looked up at her with the corner of his eye and pouted. Though he seemed legitimately concerned, something about him seemed off. Said something was his growing corruption, that seemed to evaporate the storm that fell upon his head, forming a neat little heat dome for the three. "You're kind of lodged in my stabbing horns, and that is worrying." He noted with another pout. "I've used those horns for many glorious things, but this fall has taken me by surprise." He nodded "Will you be okay?" If one listened close enough, they could hear the voice of the legion begging for blood and hatred. Zexama was not very used to falling on people’s heads from extremely high altitudes. Well, there was that one time on Arcose where she jumped off the tallest tower and there was the elephant with 14 head that - Nevermind. Even if she did have experience in the art, there was still a slight problem that had not been included. A slight, point, spiky horn problem that was currently in Zexama’s head, literally. It wasn’t as bad as it sounds though, in all honestly the majin actually found it more fun than the falling itself. Since the horns were lodged in quite far she was able to rock herself forwards and backwards without falling off them, making for quite an excellent play equipment.
The majin, after realising she was probably horrifying whatever she was on top of, she placed her hands on either side of Nabel’s head and attempted to release herself from the horns with a strong push. She then landed in front of the stranger a gave a short bow for the performance she had just most perfectly displayed. Hearing all the worry from Nabel only made Zexam guilty for she didn’t want this potential friend to feel like he had hurt her or anything. Zexama raised her arms before trying to explain she was fine. ”No seriously chill man. I’m pretty tough and I can handle it eazy pezy.” Looking upwards she somehow noticed there were two horned sized holes in her head. That doesn’t look good.
Zexama shook her head slightly and the skin around the hole instantly joined back together like it was magic, which it was. Looking back at the guy she smiled and softly scratched the top of her newly healed head. She extended her hand towards the guy before she froze ever so suddenly. She squinted her eyes and slowly approached the recognised person. She got so close to hit face that if she had a nose, it would be poking him in the face. ”Hang on a minute… I KNOW YOU! I’m Zexama, you know me right?” Zexama was stupid after all and didn’t always recognise people, or sometimes she recognised people she didn’t know.
She then decided to ask her scouter to check their visual databases to find out is Zexama was stupid or not. ”Yo scouter, have we seen this guy before?” The scouter had had enough of Zexama ignorance and her ignoring him. ”ZEXAMA I HATE YOU! YOU FORGOT MY BIRTHDAY! WHY WOULD YOU DO SUCH A THING TO YOUR TRUSTY SCOUTER, ME??”[/b] Zexama cocked her head a bit to the side as she replied to the scouter in a very irritated way. ”Do you seriously think that I would forget someone’s birthday? I WAS THE ONE THAT MADE YOU! YOUR BIRTHDAY IS TOMORROW YOU DUMB DUMB” Zexama shouted right in the face of Nabel unintentionally without even realising it as she was actually just trying to talk to the scouter. Noticing that Nabel may have heard the conversation she let him know it wasn’t okay. ”Hey, you shouldn’t be eavesdropping, this is an important conversation. The scouter was silent until it made a few beeps then replied in a sorry tone. ”Sorry Zexy! I thought it was today, I was really made at you but I knew you wouldn’t forget my birthday!”[/b] Zexama had given up on the whole searching the database thing as she didn’t really understand what it meant. The pink returned her attention to the new friend and challenged him to a duel. ”Since you attacked me in the head I’m going to challenge you to a duel to the victory! If you land a punch on me, you win! But I won’t be going easy.” Zexama did a backflip to land in the snow before looking back at the opponent with a ready defensive position. The scouter then started to practise his music making skills and projected a very cringy battle theme to try and ready up the two warriors, it didn’t really work for Zexama, because SHE WAS ALREADY READY!
