I think I got everyone. And ain't that the problem?
We have a 13 v 2 fight going on right now, essentially. Almost everyone in the above thread is there to fight Vi-Poi and Komoto. The exceptions - I believe - are Komoto, who is there to fight WITH Vi-Poi, and Seka and Quince, who are there to gawp/provide support respectively.
Vi has split the thread to deal with the 'fighters' vs 'spectators' but that isn't actually a thing in this instance, beyond the two who I called out above, everyone there has posted some intent to deal with Vi-Poi. I have the following concerns about this split.
1) If we don't all jump into the fight thread immediately, even if we intended to hold back for a dramatically appropriate moment, the fight thread will move much faster than the 'spectator' thread and we'll lose our shot.
2) Vi-Poi has reserved the right to attack the spectators, even though the spectators have to move to the fight thread to do the same in return - that's just not fair.
3) The pose order has already been confused because Vi-Poi has essentially skipped five people by not waiting for his turn, and when the fight thread is made, everyone is going to have to scramble to post all over again within 48 hours.
4) When the split IS made, the two threads are going to have a vastly different number of people in them. Either the fight thread will end up with a tiny number and the spectators will move like molasses whilst trying to accomplish things in the background (I'm assuming 'spectator' is the right term for 'trying to get civilians out of the fight zone' here) or, more likely IMO, the fight thread will just get the exact same issue again as everyone piles in there but for a handful of people who stay in the 'original' thread and then they'll move ridiculously quickly compared to everyone else.
5) How will 'interference' work between these two threads? If say, someone can just ignore their own post order and jump into the fight thread to snatch someone up for healing, that's not fair on the fight thread. If someone can just ignore their own post order and fire an energy blast into the face of someone in the spectator thread, that's not fair on the spectator thread. If post order has to be maintained between the two threads, a slow poster in one thread will mean 48 or more hours between something happening and getting to react to it.
Because this saga is basically all about one person, splitting the thread does not seem appropriate to me.
I understand Vi-Poi is frustrated that the thread is moving slowly; unfortunately, I think that's just something that is inherent with such an absurdly huge scene hinging on one (or two, counting Komoto) antagonists. The attempt to split it just doesn't seem fair to me, and is going to result in a giant mess as people struggle to figure out where, when and how they should be posting and what they should - or could - be reacting to.
We should stick to one thread. If Vi-Poi wants to speed things along, he should just unleash a scatter shot attack and kill ten or so players; that'll accomplish the aim of speeding up the thread and help keep verisimilitude. (I'm only half joking).
