The rhythmic beats of club music began to drone on throughout the streets of Raiti-Zacro, as the rising cacophony of synth and base signified the turn of the evening. The asteroid was well known to be a bastion of debauchery, and every night the locals seemed to celebrate that fact. Viktara was no different, though she much preferred the more rugged setting of The Jailbird to the sinful nightclubs that littered the streets.
Finding her way down the winding alley and through the bolted doors, the warrior felt very much at home within the vomit-stained walls of the dilapidated pub. With throaty laughs and clinking drinks filling the tavern with noise, the bar swelled with patrons as the night dragged on. Viktara sat at the bar with an open seat beside her, grinning ear to ear as she downed another shot of Yardrat Whisky. Even while sitting, the Amazonian woman towered over many of the men within the building. The metal stool beneath her almost crying for help as she shifted her weight to lean on the counter while conversing with the Brench bartender.
Flight by night, no matter the planet, was a wondrous sight for the young woman. With a light landing, Lily stood on the edge of rooftop while scanning the signs around her. Viktara had told her what bar to look for to meet the woman for drinks, with directions to make her search simple. The questionable name of the bar made her raise an eyebrow, but the name seemed like it would fit someone like the Heran woman. With a lazy step the half-saiyan stepped off the ledge, slowing close to the ground to land. She adjusted her jacket from the flight and walked into the bar, her mind probing the crowd to pick up her new friend. As soon as she could feel the direction, she could see the tall woman sitting at the bar so she went and sat beside her.
"Hope you didn't wait long," Lily greeted the Heran with a friendly smile. "What can I get you?" the bartender cut in, between serving others. "Oh, I'll take a..." she paused to consider her options, "one Kabochan Motion, please." "Alright," the man nodded, proceeding to prepare the drink.
Glancing around the bar, Lily was wary, making note of her surroundings. A reflex, if nothing else, from her years of travel. Her tail wrapped around the bottom of the stool, out of the way of the other patrons. As she glanced around, the bartender slid over her drink, a pleasant looking orange liquid topped with whipped cream. Using the stick in the drink, with a smooth motion, she scooped a small bit of cream. She stuck it in her mouth before stirring the cream into her drink. Mixing the cream into the brown-flecked orange drink made a particular swirl in the glass, which is where the drink got its name. Taking a few sips of the pumpkin pie tasting drink, she turned back to Viktara.
"So, is this usually how you end your work days?"

The Heran’s finely-tuned ears perked up to the sound of the creaking doors behind her. Swiveling in her stool to face the entrance, the woman’s smile grew as Lily stepped through the bar’s threshold. “THEEERE SHE IS! SIT DOWN, SIT DOWN!” Viktara enthusiastically waved to the younger girl, beckoning her to join the woman by her side. “Nahh, I only just got here a few hours ago.” She replied as she took another sip of her drink. Her words slurred slightly as she spoke, a key indicator that the giant woman had already gotten herself tipsy well before the Saiyan arrived.
“Yeah, this is the best place on this rock to unwind after a long day.” She affirmed as she carefully tilted the now almost-empty bottle of whiskey over her glass, pouring into it the remainder it’s contents. “...And start the day off.” Lifting the brown liquid to her lips, she eagerly dipped her head back and gulped down another mouthfull of poison. Immediately after, she shook her head and let out a raspy sigh as the warm drink slid down her throat “AND for an afternoon pick-me-up!” She chuckled to herself as she gently placed the glass back onto the table before signalling the bartender for another bottle.
“Whattabout you? What do you do for fun, other than fighting off thieves and mercenaries?”
Lily continued to sip at her drink as the Heran spoke, listening to the woman prattle on about how she found the bar the perfect place to visit at all times of day. The large woman had evidently been drinking for a while, which made the half-saiyan wonder exactly how much she had consumed to reach this manner of intoxication with her size. As Viktara posed the question, Lily had to think about it for a moment. The honest answer was that she really wasn't that fun. She watched TV to unwind, or read magazines when while monitoring her autopilot. Really, a lot of her free time was spent training, or thinking about training. It was only the rare occasion that she even stopped at a bar while visiting the far and few between planets she stopped at.
"Well, I guess this," she shrugged in an offhand tone. "I'll stop by bars on my travels, pick up local information before I leave. Resupplies are generally the only time I stop by populated areas. I spend a lot of time travelling by myself, so I don't get to do a lot of socializing." Taking a larger drink of mixed beverage, she set the almost empty glass down and looked around. "Not that this is really my scene anyways," she chuckled.
"Do you do much travelling? Or is this pretty much home for you?
Viktara nodded along to Lily’s words as she received her next bottle of whiskey from the bartender with little fanfare. After cracking the seal and twisting off the cap, she paused right before pouring herself another glass. “Wait, so… You're just a drifter?” she briefly stared at the girl in disbelief before breaking out in booming laughter. “Hell, the way those guys from before talked you up, I had taken you for some kinda... SSE emissary!” she cackled again before finally draining the liquid into her glass. “Well, ain’t no shame about it if that’s your way of havin’ fun. I know lotsa folk who just enjoy the travel with no destination. Me? I like keepin’ busy with work. Makin’ cold hard cash. That’s why I’m here.”
As the Heran spoke, she moved her bang of hair aside and flipped her pink scouter down over her eyes. Staring intently at the younger girl, She then pressed the yellow button on the devices side before her eyes flicked down to the corner display of the screen. “Hot damn~ there IS shame in THAT though!” she whistled as a slew of numbers and symbols whizzed past the screen. “3,700? Aren’t y’all Saiyans supposed to be built for conquering planets and whatnot? Your power level is less than HALF’A mine, and I ain't even fired up!” The warrior chided. “Maybe you shoulda got some trainin’ in before you went travelin’ round the cosmos? If I had this beauty for that lil’ disappearing act you pulled earlier? Well...” She tapped the device off before taking another swig of her drink. Even while tipsy, she could detect the souring mood from her choice of words. “I’m sure you got the idea.”
While she listened to the larger woman ramble on, the thought did strike her to further inquire about the nature of the thugs. She didn't have any enemies, that she knew of, and was quite average.. She had considered it was for the Wayfinder, some large piece they could scrap for some value. But the Heran's words seemed to imply a greater interest besides vehicular theft. No point in prying further though, as the amazonian woman had already moved on to other subjects.
Like her paltry numbers.
It was no secret to the young half-saiyan that she was weak. Not to your average human, mind you, as she stood far above any regular person. But in the cosmic sense of things, she stood low on the rungs of universal strength. She had worked hard for years to attain what she had now, but in the end she knew her strength was limited. But, despite how crushing a realization it may be, Lily couldn't help but smile at her new friend.
"Well, I'm not a Saiyan, not completely. My strength is what it is, no planets fear me." she laughed softly. She polished off the rest of her drink and set down the empty glass.
"Besides," she winked at the taller woman, "if you had to rely on that thing to catch me, I must be doing pretty good." She laughed again, "you know, all things considered."
Viktara threw her head back and shared a throaty laugh with the younger Saiyan, her voice booming over all other sounds and chatter in the bar before eventually settling down. A well amused sigh then escaped her lips as she shook her head in agreement. “Well, fair enough. Ya got me there!” she smirked before guzzling down another full glass of whisky as if it were a shot. If Lily was keeping count, that would have made her fourth full glass since the Saiyan arrived, and as the night drew on, the effects of the liquor were becoming more and more apparent on the girl’s face. Her teal blue cheeks became flushed with a violet purple hue as her eyes hooded ever so slightly. Her usual wry grin was replaced with a more dim, yet peaceful smile as she automatically ordered Lily a refill on her drink upon noticing it empty.
“Y’know what?” She leaned in closer and wrapped her chiseled arm around the girl’s shoulder, her personal boundaries obviously beginning to crack away with her sobriety. “I like you, Lily! You got gumption! Not alotta people have gumption anymore! Hell, I’d doubt half’a these clowns here even knows what gumption means!” She snickered to herself as she shakily arose from her stool, pressing her weight down on the young girl for balance as she stood to her feet. “Just keep your head down, and you’re gonna go places! I can feel it!” she grinned once more.
“Alright, I’m about ready to piss myself if I don’t use the lil’ girl’s room.” she frankly stated as she turned away from the girl. “Don’t go and get yourself in any trouble while I’m gone, a few of the fellas in here are well above your pay grade.” she warned, sharing another throaty laugh before shakily sauntering off to the restrooms on unsteady legs.
The Jailbird, huh? Man, what a dump this place was, Aicee thought to himself as he stood outside the run-down bar. According to Ravol's intel, this was where the Heran liked to pass most of her time, so finding her here was more than likely. As soon as the Arcosian walked in the door, he was faced with a boisterous ambience. Inside there were numerous kinds of other alien scum, each one uglier than the previous. This sure seemed fit for the Heran amazon.
Aicee's eyes browsed the bar, searching for his target. Hmm, seemed like the Heran wasn't here after all... Wait, sat at the the bar's counter. Was that the human he was sent after? Well, wasn't that lucky. Looked like he wasn't going to leave empty handed from this place after all.
The Arcosian mercenary started to slowly levitate towards the girl at the counter. Like in his previous jobs, Aicee liked to give his targets a chance to come with him willingly, rather than having them beat up from the get go. This almost never happened though, with the rare exception of the sight of him would be enough to scare the hunted.
"Hold on a second..." Aicee whispered to himself, as he glanced better the human. Was that a tail curling around the stool's leg he saw coming out of the girl's rear? His faced grimaced at this sight, judging by the hair alone, he had thought it was just a human, but the tail told otherwise. This "human" surely had Saiyan blood running through their veins. Aicee came to a stop, quickly reminding himself of his barren home planet, dead by the hands of the Saiyans. He felt disgusted, and then enraged.
His body now surrounded in a greenish aura could be seen by those at the bar seconds before he rushed against the hybrid. "FILTHY SAIYAN!" he roared from the bottom of his lungs, as he grabbed the girl's head from behind and smashed it over the counter into the liquor filled shelved wall behind the barman.
Lily sat casually on the stool as Viktara laughed and spoke to her, pulling her in close and generally being a drunk. Lily didn't mind too much, and even if she did, she probably wouldn't ask the large woman to stop anyways. Overall, it seemed the two were becoming fast friends. She had apparently made an impression on the drunken Heran, one which filled the young woman with a hint of happiness. Smiling, she merely nodded to Viktara as the amazonian alien stood up to go relieve herself. As the orange-haired fighter left, Lily turned her attention back to her new drink to mix the cream topping into it. She took a swig of the semi-sweet liquid, savoring the cool and refreshing flavor as she set the half-filled glass back on the counter.
Her nostrils filled with the smell of alcohol as she felt her body drenched in the myriad of strong-scented liquids. She felt as if she had fallen into her glass, drowning in the mind-numbing concoction she had been drinking. Her head spun and twirled, and her body began to ache in a multitude of places. In an instant, her eyes snapped open to find her face pressed firmly against the wall across from where she sat. The shelves had splintered from the impact of her body, bottles shattering and scattered around as the wall and her body were soaked with various colors of liquor. In an instant, she had been slammed so viciously from her seat she had barely registered the impact.
"W-what the--!" she spluttered, the foul taste of blood mixing in her mouth. Her eyes darted to glance at the edge of her vision, seeing the faint makings of a reptilian-like alien holding her head securely to its new resting place. "What'do you want!" she half-spit to the mysterious foe, unable to speak clearly with her face mashed into the shelves.
“Get OVER HERE, you BASTAAAARD!” the Heran snarled, her brow furrowing as her eyes filled with rage while they focused in on her target. The warrior violently threw her arm forward, releasing a miniature capsule out of her hand that curved through the air and narrowly missed it’s target. The Jinkouman who the attack was aimed for simply reveled in Viktara’s poor marksmanship. It erupting into one it’s race’s trademark laughter before it leapt into the air and clacked it heels together tauntingly.
“Awww, SCREW this, I ain’t dealin’ with this shit.” she scoffed as she angrily mashed a button on the side of her scouter. Suddenly, the open fields and grasslands around her immediately began to pixelate and break away as the entire virtual world deconstructed itself. Within a few moments, Viktara found herself back in the bathroom stall where she’d entered, still enjoying her solitude away from all the noise of the bar. “Saibaman Go?” she clicked her tongue before resting her cheek into her palm. “Tch, more like ‘Saibaman Go suck a fat dick.’ How do people enjoy this shit?”
After mumbling in aggravation to herself for a few more moments, the Heran finally decided it would be rude to keep her guest waiting any longer. As she placed her hands onto her thighs to exert the energy to stand up, another thought suddenly occurred in her mind. Wait, does this thing have solitaire?
It seemed the Saiyan girl didn't even have time to react to his attack, as Aicee pressed her head against the broken wall. His mind still filled with rage at the sight of the girl's saiyan tail. Half blood or not, Aicee didn't seem to care, his hate towards this race was grand, and it could be seen by his instinctive attack on his target where he would normally approach them in a polite manner. This wasn't like him at all.
Aicee could hear the Saiyan girl trying to speak, inquiring him what he wanted. Well, right now his brain couldn't even process correctly this question, blinded with rage. The sound of the hybrid's voice fueling his anger even more. Ignoring the question, this would cause the Arcosian mercenary to act on instinct once more, as he tried to drag the girl's face in an attempt to slam it into the ground behind the counter.
It seemed, to the young woman, that if the mysterious new attacker had some kind of goals or demands, he wasn't about to divulge them to her at this time. The release of skull-splitting pressure on her head was only a moment's reprieve before the stranger slammed his powerful arm downward to smash her face into the stained dark tiled floor of the seedy bar. This time, she was able to react just enough to bring her arms up across her face to prevent it from being broken upon impact, though the stinging pain that shot through her arms was almost as bad. She could feel the Ki flaring in anger around her assailant, once again finding herself outmatched by some random foe.
But that wouldn't stop her.
With her arms crossed underneath her, pinned to the floor, it was purely luck that her palms were facing upwards. Ki fluxed across her fingertips as she released a stinging blast from each hand. She had to blast the lizard-like alien's hand away enough to slip away, just enough so she could roll away from her attacker. With arms underneath her from a roll, but not pinned to the ground, she'd easily be able to push off and take to the air.
If she could flip over the end of the bar, behind some startled patrons, she could break the line of sight of her foe, give herself some breathing room. It all hinged on momentarily breaking his grasp with her blasts, an all or nothing strategy at this point.
The loud bang of the impacts shook the entire tavern as many of the alien patrons fled back out into the streets in terror. The loud chatter of the bar quickly dulled into hushed whispers as those remaining regulars watched the encounter closely with vested interest, going as far as to place small bets with each other over who would win. Just as with the Arcosian, the small Saiyan girl would find no sympathy among the bar’s clientele.
Suddenly, the stall door swung open with such force that the very hinges holding it in place were snapped apart like twine, tossing the door through the air until it shattered in a sudden impact with the far western wall.
Stepping out of the room, the Heran warrior deeply exhaled as her eyes scanned the area around her, eventually falling onto the brawling duo who were still consumed in their fight. Her brow furrowed as she wordlessly pulled her fist to her side. Her violet red ki rippling around her knuckles as she suddenly threw her arm forward in a straight punch, launching a bright concussive blast of energy directly towards the Arcosian’s back. Her aim was more to separate the alien away from her ally than to deal damage and cause him pain. Thatwould be coming later.
“Hands off the merchandise, Snowball. And I ain’t just talkin’ bout the Saiyan.”
She growled as her brown eyes flicked over to the bar where she previously sat, clicking her tongue in irritation as her vision landed on the shattered bottle of whiskey leaking its contents onto the ceramic floor below. Her gaze then refocused on the Arcosian. Her eyes narrowing even further as she glared daggers into his soul. “Y’all done made a biiiiiig mistake comin’ here.” She hissed as she craned her neck upwards to gaze at the short Arcosian with an upturned sneer.
“‘Cause right now, I’m drunk, I’m PISSED, and you’re shit out of luck ‘cause you’re fightin’ me, now.” With an added growl, she menacingly cracked her knuckles before lowering her body into a traditional boxing stance. Her focus locked onto the Arcosian to note any sudden movements, and her fury was just as unwavering. This Arcosian wasn’t just going to pay, she was going to make him suffer.
Aicee's attempt to smash the Saiyan girl's head into the ground seemed to have failed, with the hybrid managing to break the fall with her arms. Well, if he wasn't able to crack her head open, maybe at least she would have broken an arm. Although, Saiyans were known to be sturdy. Way too sturdy for a breed of monkeys.
The Arcosian mercenary grunted, moving once more to cause damage to the girl under his graps, only to be surprised by a flurry of ki blasts coming from the Saiyan's fingertips, getting directly hit in face, blinding him for a few seconds. Groaning in annoyance, Aicee lifted his hands to his face, rubbing both eyes in an attempt to make the blurriness that was his vision come back to normal.
The Saiyan girl had taken this opportunity to escape over the counter and had gained some distance from him. Aicee flared in frustration, looking around the bar arduously. All he could see were blurs, making up the shape of his prey would prove to be a difficult task in this state.
The situation, however, would only aggravate even more, as a flurry of ki blasts came to his encounter, hitting one after the other on the Arcosian mercenary's back. They didn't hurt, not at all, more so they felt like small bug stings, while one wasn't that big of a deal, more than that would leave a feeling of discomfort and, above all, would only serve to annoy Aicee even more.
He slowly turned, only to be met by a sudden boisterous voice taunting him came from the direction he had been shot, from what it seemed to be a tall blue and orange blur, surrounded by a red aura. If his memory served him right, this one should probably match the other target he was sent to collect, the one he was after in the first place in this beat down joint. This would be his lucky day, having his job made easy with both of them in the same place.
Forcing his vision to focus on the person taunting him, Aicee positioned himself in his fighting stance, widening and lowering his center of gravity. His right hand hovering in front of his face, while keeping his left close to his waist, closed in a fist. The only part of his body that would show any signs of movement now were his tail, waving from side to side, and his face, struggling to make the shape of his opponent.
By some long-overdue luck, the young woman had managed to slip from the grasp of her vicious attacker. She landed behind some bewildered patrons, the panicked crowd milling about and starting to flee from the action. Ducking low and using the people for cover, Lily darted to the left and further from her foe as a familiar Ki flared up nearby. She sighed with relief as she darted behind a table that had been knocked over during the panic. Evidently it had not been her day, but having Viktara show up made the situation take a turn for the better.
Though it would of been nice if she hadn't been as worried about the alcohol as her friend's well-being.
Lily shrugged, in the end it didn't matter as much as the fact that she wasn't under the thumb of another superior foe. Glancing over the edge of the table towards the two powerful aliens staring each other down, it was a waiting game for the half-Saiyan before she can act.
