Thread PL: 8622 (But Heavy Weights are on) @orangotto
The mere mention of South Capitol had always always enough to fill Nabel with a sense of unease. So one can only imagine the man's disdain when he was informed by an 'associate' of his that a visit to the lovely streets of South Capitol was not only necessary, but that a certain organization's entire future rested upon a 'business meeting' that would be conducted there for four bloody hours. And as Nabel roamed the seedy night-time streets in his tattered suit and coat, looking for the familiar puppy-mill that he had grown to know oh so well, the demon couldn't help but feel like he was strong-armed into doing this particular task. Yet as a leader-of-sorts, he knew that it was of the utmost importance for him to be here. But that didn't meant that he'd have to like it.
Because he didn't like it, not one bit. He held onto too many bad memories in this damned city for him to even justify the idea of liking this city, much less enjoy his stay. Yet here he was, two nights early to a vaguely described meet-up with a group of unsavory individuals. Some of whom are directly responsible for Nabel's unbridled hate South Capitol. What the man probably needed was a hotel room, far away from the vicious underbelly that he was going to be forced to interact with within a few day. So that just begs the question. Why was Nabel looking for the very warehouse that was the root of all of his problems? He didn't know. He didn't care. As long as he broke something from in there, he would be fine.
So strut along he did, walking through 'okay' side of town, the area right between the edges of the perfect tourist trap that gave Island City its beloved reputation among travel guides and rich businessmen, and the wretched hive of scum and villainy that was despised by many of its own inhabitants. With a single eye nervously scanning each and every god-forsaken corner and street lamp, and a single arm readied for any and all probable attacks from loutish goons, Nabel marched on through the sidewalks, which grew increasingly old and grimy with each step. There was only one question caught between the many sad thoughts that floated freely inside of the demon's mind: "What am I even doing?"

The Saiyan flew upon the South Capitol in mild interest, the Saiyan invasion had passed not too long ago but the cities were recovering quickly. "I suppose they can handle themselves in times of peace after all. Well, at least in such a case." - he thought. Though, there was a huge lack of warriors in his opinion, in that moment the planet was safe, but what about the victims? Their death could be avoided if they could defend themselves.
But he couldn't expect an entire planet to be full of strong warriors, there were weaklings among the Saiyans as well. "Whatever, but I am pretty sure many could learn a thing or not, even if they are weak. Not like I was as strong as I am now after all!" - he said to himself, a grin forming on his face as he looked at his own hands. He was pretty happy with the results of his training that far, but he could still become much stronger.
Cornatto suddenly stopped, widening his eyes as he sensed a power level higher than the average earthling. "Now that is interesting.. might be worth checking it out." - he said to himself, descending down next to the Demon. "He is not a Human for sure, perhaps an alien of some sorts?" - he thought.
"Hey there, what are you up to?" - he asked, looking at him curiously.

"FREEZUS CHRI- Nabel cupped his one hand around his mouth, blocking out the rest of his yelp, as he let his reddened cheeks air out. With a sigh, the man turned his head slowly, trying (and failing) to not sound spooked, as he swallowed down the lump that formed in his throat when the figure suddenly plopped down next to him. It was on occasions like these when the demon wished that he knew how to sense Ki, as being ambushed wasn't too high on his to-do list at the moment. Not that this person was ambushing him. Or was he? Was the entire meeting a farce? Had Nabel's business partners set him up for a hit? No, the cyclops had to just be being paranoid. This newcomer's intentions were probably innocent enough.
"Hey." Nabel shifted to the side a bit, making some personal space for himself. "I ain't up to anything sinister, if that's what you're asking." The demon joshed, as he attempted to mentally reaffirm his own dignity. It had been some time since Nabel had been willingly approached by a complete stranger. Usually, he'd have to make the first move in a conversation. (Which wasn't surprising, given his appearance. Though it mostly had to do with how he was always too busy with training and business.) After several quiet seconds, he spoke once more, this time with a bit (just a bit) more confidence in his tone.
"I'm just out on a walk, is all." Nabel chuckled, doing his darndest to not sound intimidating, not that he had to actively try and do that, but he thought the extra effort was good. He wanted to keep safe, after all. "What about you stranger?" The demon asked, tilting his head a bit. "You here to try anything fun?"

The Saiyan widened his eyes as he looked at the stranger’s reaction, did he scare him off or something? He didn’t consider himself that much of a frightening person, at least that’s what he thought. “Perhaps he was doing his own reserved business and I’ve interrupted him.. might explain his reaction. Though, he doesn’t seem up to anything of any importance.” - he thought, raising a brow for a brief moment.
“..Hey, and no. It’s not what I was asking. After all, you don’t seem to be doing anything at the moment if I’d be honest. Why? Should you be up to anything.. sinister?” - he asked, staring at him blankly. He tried to understand what kind of person he was, perhaps he was one of those animal earthlings? At first, he had thought that he was an alien but he couldn’t really tell the difference. Even if the Saiyan was an alien himself, from a certain point of view, he was born on the blue marble but he was not a Human.
“Ah, I see. Well, nothing much, I was just taking a look around and then I sensed your energy, you’re definitely stronger than an average person.” - he told him, crossing his arms as he heard his last question. “Anything fun?.. There isn’t much in this city, my tastes might be wrong but I’d be more interested if there was a place to train. Just my opinion there.” - he said.

Nabel shifted in place awkwardly, keeping his eye directed towards the road ahead, pretending that he didn't The Saiyan didn't really do much to make him feel assured, as the demon caught the stranger's held gaze by the side of his eye. Though he continued to assure himself that the other man had no ill intention, the Saiyan looked at him like some sort of animal. The cyclops couldn't help but feel like he was being studied for an incoming autopsy, as irrational as that fear was. Still, in spite of his hunches, there was no reason for the demon to stop being civil.
"If you want a place to train..." The demon took a few small steps forward, before standing at attention and pointing in the direction in front of him. "The place I'm walking off to should work." He gave the Saiyan a nervous grin, doing his darndest to try and mask his paranoid insecurities. Being nice would get him through this, he just knew it would. "Wanna tag along, stranger?" He tilted his head a bit, and further hid his face beneath the cloak's hood. "I mean, you're a fighter, right?"

The Saiyan watched the Demon curiously, he could not hide that curious expression of his on his face as he looked at Nabel, this one seemed really weird. That’s what he thought at least, perhaps he was not used to socialize with other people.
“Perhaps he recognized my Saiyan traits and now he is afraid of me.. damn it. It’s usually like this the entire time after the invasion..” - he thought to himself, narrowing his eyes for a brief moment. It might have been the case after all.
Cornatto widened his eyes as the Demon spoke of a place to train. He couldn’t help but clench his fist tightly and smirk excitedly as he looked at Nabel firmly. He was surprised to hear such words from a weirdo stranger he had just met, but he couldn’t simply deny! “Sure, let’s go!” - he told him.

"Glad to see you're interested then." Nabel couldn't help but smile upon seeing the Saiyan's wholly delighted demeanor. It wasn't too often that a glad reaction regarding the art of combat was this innocent in its intent. In the demon's experience, this sort of excitement would usually come in a much more threatening (and possibly psychotic) manner. And since Nabel still hasn't been stabbed with a rusty cast iron pipe, while his would-be assailant screams 'DAMN DIRTY ALIENS STOP CROSSING THE BORDER AND STEALING REGULAR PEOPLE JOBS.' again, he feels a whole lot safer. At least thirty percent more secure, in fact. And, considering that they cyclops was both tired and anxious, that number does indeed count as a lot in this situation, at least for the cyclops.
"Sure thing, boss." Nabel tips an imaginary hat for the stranger, still hiding inside the dark hood that was engulfed most of his figure. With an accommodating nod, the demon flashes a friendly grin for the Saiyan, before walking off a bit faster. "Well, what are you waiting for?" He stops in his tracks and turns around very quickly, and gestures for the stranger to come forward. "Follow me." He instructs the stranger cheerfully, his voice sounding just as demanding as it was threatening. (It was neither of those things, as Nabel doesn't have a proper backbone to speak of.) "It should be close by." He explains, further walking down the road.
"You wanna talk about anything on the way there, Stranger?" The demon raises his head, the streetlamps illuminating his single blood-shot eye, and showcasing his tattered, rotting skin for the world to see. Upon realizing this, however, the man snaps backwards and attempts to pull the hood of his garb down his own eyes, further hiding his face away from the stranger. "Please pretend that you didn't see that." He whimpers, almost sounding on the verge of tears as he speaks. Though it's more likely from the cyclop's annoyed exhaustion mixed in with his latent insecurities, rather than a regularly visible problem.

The Saiyan decided to follow the Demon, he had no idea of their destination but he had nothing to worry about. Nabel was weaker than him, he could deal with him just in case. You could never know, strangers could as well be more dangerous than how they looked like. “Well, hopefully this place is for real and not a trick.. I doubt it’d be that much of an issue, I can outmatch him even if I wear my weighted clothes.” - he thought to himself.
He crossed his arms as he walked, trying to think about something they could talk about. “Uhm.. so, what’s your name? I am Cornatto.” - he told him, shifting his gaze away for a brief moment as he glanced around. In doing so, he had not looked at Nabel and had no idea about what he meant. “..What are you talking about?” - he asked, looking at him curiously.

"Nothing in particular- what are YOU talking about?" The demon chuckled, shaking his head to the tune of a tired chuckle, before sighing. Though he was relieved to know that Saiyan wasn't paying much attention his hooded form, Nabel still gently tucked his hood up just a teensy bit more, if only to stay on the safe side. He didn't need any more suspicion to be thrown at his way. It was hard enough to deal with that from the locals.
"Nah, I'm just joshing with ya. Nice meeting to meet you, Corn." Nabel grinned, staring straight ahead, and averting his nervous gaze away from the man. "I'm Nabel." He let his one eye take a peek at the Saiyan, and shrugged. "So, you ain't from around here, obviously. Where are ya from, stranger?"

The Saiyan blinked and stared at the demon blankly, the stranger didn’t really seem that sane or at least, he was really weird. “It didn’t sound like a joke.. I wonder what’s up with him..” - he thought to himself, he looked at him once more with narrow eyes but then he just decided to let the matter slide off.
"He doesn't seem too dangerous, pretty sure I could beat him down just in case he is a bad guy of some sorts. And I even have my weighted clothes on.. nothing to worry about then." - he thought to himself.
“Nice to meet you as well, Nabel.” - he told him, offering a nod in agreement to his next statement. “I am not from around here, indeed. I am from.. a forest in the Eastern Lands. That’s where I was born and grew up.” - he said.
“So, where are we going? There are lots of places where we can fight.” - he asked.
