This is a subject that's come up on several occasions in the past where someone will delete their account for whatever reason and then request their character back at a later date. I think we at least need some guidelines placed on this if we're going to allow this to keep happening. Especially since the last character that got restored was Ninjin, who requested the character back after quite a bit of time had passed and was previously insisting that the character was retired.
Time Limit - Should there be a limited window on time where they should be allowed to recover their character?
Warning Level - We already discourage deleting things, and I'm trying to actually get it written as a formal rule. Should a warning level come into play upon character deletion/reinstatement?
PL Reduction - When someone decides to go delete their account, the stats for the character on the mini-profile ends up getting wiped. This can be a serious pain in the ass to keep track of, so should there be a default PL number to revert back to when this end up happening and they want their character back? Perhaps the base PL for the last transformation that was unlocked? What about Zeni/Items?
I don't think deleted profiles should be restored, if we have to make a ruling on it. It's giving us extra work to help out players who generally tried to take their ball and go home in very childish fashion.

I'd rather not allow anyone coming in anymore with new users for old characters. If they do that, it's practically killing the character. Hyoza describes it in the best manner.
My opinion? Future characters, from here on, if they delete their characters die and can not be revived. They've gone to their destination and they're staying there permanently. Being nice about this event, when it happens, is not what we want to do. Retiring isn't going to be nice either. If necessary, I'll even write up a terrifying IC event that gets transmitted through all threads.
Warning bar would be appropriate as well, if they have multiple users or try to remake the 'same' character. ONLY, though, if it is because they left on a salty/rule breaking note.
No PL Reduction. If we decide to not be nice and kill off the character upon profile deletion, there's no reason for this... Unless, we're doing it to another character. That, in this case, would simply be unfair to all parties, but this would be appropriate for the crap they pull with character deletion.
Since we've had yet another freak-out and an account deleted in the process, I would like to bring this topic back to attention since it's possible we might be looking at the issue again at some point in the near future. I'm not sure if enough people have weighed in enough to call for a vote just yet, but I'll make a poll if everyone already's made up their minds.
Important: My threads are likely to move super slow due to life/medical issues hitting me super hard right now. Sorry for the inconvenience... ^^; Profile
I already stated this opinion in Skype, but I'll reinstate it here so it's more official. I think I'd be most okay with them coming back at 20,000pl(assuming they already passed to 20k mark) as well as a loss of any zeni or items that they had. They'd basically be able to reuse their character profile as if they did a regular PL transfer to a new character.
