Clearly confused by the man's response Reikiko blinked briefly, tilting her head to the side while trying to grasp the nature of the story the brother of Pieter might had told him before, but in the end she heard the man's request, handing him the towel he had requested, of course accompanied with the usual innocent smile that lingered on her lips for free. However, while Hikari initially smiled in amusement at the child's attempt to be kind to the stranger her smile turned into a look of concern at Scargot's words. He believed that he could change her, and that he had in the end failed. It caused the woman to sigh deeply, her eyes sharpening a little while her tone became more stern, almost like a mother scolding her son.
"Is that truly what you believe Kami-sama? For someone to be able to properly change they need to desire it themselves. Please look at Reikiko over there."
The child had just handed over the towel to Pieter, placing the plate with the water back onto the ground before him and after a light spin around she started to waddle back toward the temple, almost akin to a little duckling. That bright and naive smile of the child as she raised a hand to wave at them, seemingly trying to tell them Pieter would be fine was enough to show she had a kind heart. Even her energy felt like the most gentle and benevolent presence in the world.
"She might not be the same Reikiko as we remember her, but the fact this gentle soul came from the same being that you tried to change... tells me that she did want to become a kind and good-natured person. So please don't say something sad like that you failed to change her. In the end every child needs to grow up, and usually this process causes a lot of people to make mistakes."
It was at that point they arrived toward a new subject of their conversation, the floating island of Avalon. Progress on the island was going smoothly, especially keeping in mind the fact that the final stage of the island was now being worked on. All in all it truly was starting to become a masterwork to behold.
"So far the island's construction is proceeding like planned. It's rather charming to see former enemies able to temporarily put aside their conflicts to work together on creating a little paradise on earth. Of course it would have been nice if this could spread to the whole world, but that is a bit too naive. Nevertheless, the final stage of the construction works is being done as we speak, and soon the hovercraft technology will be installed to make the island properly float."
As she finished speaking Reikiko had finally reached their location, and with her arms spread happily tried to embrace the Namekian, an innocent show of affection, while Hikari, despite her smile seemed to be concealing something.
I just hope we can keep Yami Reikiko from getting out of hand. The fact we didn't get any reports about her whereabouts yet concerns me...
