The young super saiyan stared himself down in the mirror of the apartments bathroom. His eyes slightly wide with surprise. This had been a new look for him, what did it mean? The blond, spiked up hair. The turquoise eyes? Did he achieve the legend? Was he a super saiyan? He must have. That was the only explanation behind these events. His hands gripped the edge of the countertop tightly as he got lost in his own thoughts. At the moment, Sprocket had been backed into the furthest corner away from his owner. Growling at him every time he went near. The little puppy could just tell something wasn’t right with his master, he wasn’t the same. He was much different. He wasn’t the same soft hearted saiyan he used to be. No. He was a warrior, the mightiest. The strongest in the universe and nobody was ever going to defeat him again.
Thinking back to what set him off about half hour before these events, the young saiyan began to think of life on his own. The life of a true saiyan. No more getting attached, no more crushes or flowers. No more friends. The hell with his dog, and the hell with the girl. Speaking of the girl? Where the hell was she?! Blah, that didn’t matter anyway. It was time to gather his stuff and make his exit from this apartment, for the very last time.
Stepping out of the bathroom the young saiyan made his way over to his bag of Senzu beans that he had set down on the kitchen counter top when he had made his entrance into the building through the window. His heavy weighted armour had still sat on the floor where he had previously left it. His scouter, dusty.. it hadn’t moved for weeks. All of this was going with him especially his capsule of his outfits. There was no looking back at this point.
The young saiyan began to gather up his gear. His torso fully exposed from his previous fight, his body bashed and bruised. His wrists still broken. Of course, the first thing he was going for was his senzu’s. He then thought back, he'd never need these damn things again. This form that he was currently in.. wouldn't ever be beaten. He was the best.

The aftermath of the fight hadn’t been pleasant in the slightest. The battle between Serra and the Habane sisters hadn’t turned out well for either side. Even so, both sisters agreed that it wouldn’t be right not to at least give her makeshift burial, even with how close she had come to ending the both of them. Anzu was the one to actually bury the body. Once the adrenaline from fight had worn off, Kaiyo found that she couldn’t move without causing sharp pain to course through her body without mercy.
The undersides of both of her arms were burnt to shit. They were definitely going to be heavily scarred when they finally healed up. Her cracked ribs were making it painful to talk or take deep breaths, let alone try to sit up. That was okay, she didn’t really feel like saying anything anyway after what had just happened. Bruises were already starting to form along her body from when she was constricted by Serra’s tendrils, though they were the most noticeable around her neck since that’s where they were squeezing the tightest. Anzu was pretty messed up too from the fight, but Kaiyo was an absolute wreck.
With what was left of their opponent taken care of, the redhead was gingerly hoisted onto back of her sister and the two of them took off towards West Capitol. As much as the immediate aftermath sucked, the trip back was way worse. It was kind of hard to keep someone still enough to not disturb their injuries while giving them a piggyback ride. However, with much pained groaning and several stops in between to make sure the teenager’s ribs weren’t cracking any further, the two of them eventually made it back to their apartment complex.
Both of them were exhausted and ready for some much needed recuperation, but that didn’t stop Anzu from coming to a halt right outside of the building and staring up at the third floor. ”Hey, what gives? Ain’t we going inside?” Kaiyo mumbled from behind, wanting to hurry up so she could dose up on painkillers. Anzu shook her head as if she had just been in a daze. ”Oh, sorry... I believe Athren’s home, but there’s something different about him from what I can tell. His power level’s skyrocketed, but there’s something else that I can’t put my finger on.” The dark haired woman paused for a few moments to try to figure it out. However, she didn’t appear to have any luck so she shook her head again. ”Nevermind. Let’s just get inside.”
They made a beeline for their third floor apartment. When Anzu opened the door, she saw that Athren was indeed inside already and appeared to be gathering up a bunch of his scattered possessions. There was something different about him alright. The Saiyan’s black hair was now a brilliant gold color, much like the aura that now surrounded him. While his eyes had always been blue, they looked like they were a bit of a different shade. That much could have just been the exhaustion getting to her though.
”We’re home. You certainly look different, Athren. What happened to you?” Anzu asked, though the expression on his face didn’t exactly look like a happy one. While she waited for an answer, she moved over to the living room and carefully laid Kaiyo out on the floor. ”Son of a bitch!” the redhead snarled through clenched teeth as the movement jostled her arms and ribs. The teenager was spread out in a T-shape so that nothing would brush against the severe burns on her arms. As much as her ribs hurt, those felt the worst. ”Go grab the kit,” she groaned. ”Way ahead of you, Kai,” answered her sister, who was already walking towards the bathroom.
Trying to steady her breathing so she didn’t move her chest too much, Kaiyo turned her head to look over to Athren and forced a small grin onto her face. ”Nice new look. Didn’t figure you for the type to bother with dying your hair though,” she joked, her teeth still clenched.

It was then when the door had opened wide, of course! He just had to wonder where they were, didn’t he? Now they’re here? Things couldn’t go smoothly for the young fighter could they? Regardless of their arrival he was set on leaving and he honestly doubted that they’d try to stop him. Even if they would put in effort it would fail miserably. He was a saiyan after all. He couldn’t be contained especially now that he had this new power that he couldn’t even imagine the capabilities of. With them finally arriving, Sprocket had left his corner in a hurry to get behind them. It would appear that he was frightened of his owner, the small furry structure of the growing dog shivered lightly.
Currently standing at his bag of senzu’s he lifted it to his lips as he bit the string he had tied around it to insure they’d be secure. With a quick tug the bag opened up and the string remained attached to his lips. At this moment his eyes darting over towards the two women. Though he listened, he didn’t reply to the words of the eldest. What had happened was no concern of hers nor did it really matter to Athren. The only thing that mattered is what was going to happen. Spitting the string to the floor Athren’s eyes stayed locked onto the two sisters. It had been obvious they had been in some kind of fight much like he had but he wasn’t going to ask any questions. They obviously won if they had both arrived safely back to his location. Reaching into the bag of senzu beans he gripped one tightly between his fingers, his hand slightly shaking from the pain pulsing at either of his wrists. Bringing the senzu to his lips he chewed and swallowed, his body began to instantly recover and every single mark on his body faded away within a short few seconds. Hell, even his broken wrists recovered from their condition. These things were truly amazing, lucky for him though. He’d never need them again, or so he thought.
Pivoting to face the sitting, smirking Habane and Sprocket, Athren finally spoke up. His voice would’ve been similarly toned to when they had first met but yet to a further extent of coldness and carelessness. “Catch.” He said sternly as his he swung his left arm behind him and then forwards. He let the bag of senzu’s softly fly out of his hand and head towards the girl. To be honest, this was his way of saying thank you for everything they had done. This would be his final obvious act of kindness towards either of them. At the moment there would have been three in the bag. Two could be used immediately to recover their current conditions and they could save one for when they needed it. At least they’d go to good use this way. He had completely ignored her little comment. It didn’t mean a damn thing to him. It wasn’t entertaining or challenging so there was no need to recognize it as anything more than childs play. Piping up once more he cut to the point of what exactly he was doing there. “I’m leaving. You need those more than I do.”
With the beans tossed, the young super saiyan pivoted again. This time he headed to his capsule and his heavy weighted chest armour. Gripping the capsule in his right hand he pressed his thumb against its release and tossed it to the floor to let his closet explode into sight. Opening the top drawer he pulled a new top and bottom out of storage and tossed them over to the couch. Closing said drawer, Athren then proceeded to open the bottom one where he grabbed a pair of gloves and a pair of boots which he had also tossed over to the couch.
Being quick with his actions, the young super saiyan walked over to the couch. In a hurry he kicked off his current boots and flung his gloves onto the floor beside them. What came next may have been a shock to his roommate. He slid his tattered and torn pants off to reveal his navy blue boxer briefs though it wouldn’t have lasted long. Before she would’ve really noticed much he would’ve been pulling on the non-ripped clean pair. What followed this was his gloves being pulled on tightly. He’d then have taken a seat to pull his new boots on snuggly. He was once again beginning to look like a saiyan warrior. Not some homeless trash. Quickly he gripped his heavy weighted gear and slid it over his head and mounting it onto his chest. Once again, the young saiyan looked.. almost normal.
Standing straight once more, Athren walked back over to his closet and tossed all his dirty gear in a drawer. He then pressed a red button on the closet to create another poof of smoke, this time it was to return the closet to full capsule formation. With a swift movement of his right hand he’d have caught it.
If Kaiyo had been asking any questions during his little change of outfit, he’d begin to speak pretty damn soon.
One Senzu Used = Athren fully healed. Three Transferred to Kaiyo out of Athren's inventory. Heavy Weights Equipped.

Athren was quiet. It was obvious that he was in a foul mood, as he responded to neither hers nor Anzu’s comments. Damn, the redhead hadn’t seen him like that in a while. What happened? Did it have something to do with his new aura and change in hair color? He was never really the type to be too open about his business. Kaiyo figured that whatever was getting him down wasn’t going to make him anymore talkative.
”Us crazy Habanes and our family reunions... You never know what’s going to happen when we get together. Might run in terror from one of Dad’s unending supply of family photo albums, might have to fight off a demon-possessed relative,” Kaiyo chuckled in an attempt to break the silence that had fallen over the small apartment, but stopped almost immediately after pain shot through chest again. That was a bad idea... As forced as her lighthearted tone seemed, it was because the redhead honestly didn’t want the mood to be all depressed and shit. Wiuth everything that had already happened, all that would do would make things worse. Then again, was it the overall mood she was trying to lighten, or was it specifically hers? After having her mind probed, being strangled, and choosing between keeping her sister alive or killing someone with her bare hands, Kaiyo felt like could break down at any minute. Like hell was she going to let that happen! There would be plenty of time to cry her eyes out later when nobody was around. The teenager was supposed to be a warrior. Warriors were supposed to feel vulnerable, especially not around other warriors.
Finally deciding to speak, Athren uttered a single word, instructing Kaiyo to catch the bag he had just thrown in her direction. Not being in any condition to move her arms, or the rest of her body for that matter, the redhead lied there and watched as it hit the floor softly. ”Sorry. I would’a if I could’a. Right now I might as well not have any arms with the punishment they took,” sighed, still doing what she could to keep her tone light. They still hurt like nobody’s business. Her eyes glanced over the disfigured flesh again, trying to figure out how long they would take to heal. It looked pretty bad. She still avoided looking at her hands though. They didn’t feel like hers after how the fight had ended. It wasn’t something she wanted to think about.
Athren stated that he was leaving, and that they’d need what was in the bag more than he did. It was at that point that she caught sight of what was in the bag that had been tossed her way. One of the Senzu beans inside of it had popped out of the open top when it had hit the floor. ”Oh hey. An, forget the kit. We’ve got something way better than painkillers.” Kaiyo looked back up at Athren to thank him, but he had already turned attention elsewhere. The Saiyan pulled a dresser out of a capsule and was now getting changed in the middle of the room. The teenager moved her eyes so that they were staring at the ceiling. She wondered if not needing privacy for something like that was a Saiyan thing, or if it was just his bad mood.
”Thank a bunch. Can’t say I blame you for wanting to get outta here. Going so long without a room my own, especially with Anzu walking in and out of the place whenever she wanted to, would probably make my skin crawl. You find a place of your own?” she asked, still looking up at the ceiling. It sucked that he was leaving, but it had to happen sooner or later. Frankly, trying to remain inconspicuous in the middle of a busy capitol was a pain in the ass. Yeah, Kaiyo was human so it should have been an easy thing for her. But that was just it. It wasn’t, nor had it ever been. Did he have other reasons for leaving? Who knew? He definitely had said anything about it yet.
”I’ve actually been thinking about getting outta here myself. I’ve always felt so constricted in this place,” Kaiyo murmured as Anzu walked back into the room. The dark haired woman had picked up Sprocket and was currently trying to calm the dog down. Whatever was wrong with Athren, it was freaking him out too. Something just wasn’t right. The older of the two walked over to the bag and examined it for a moment before popping one into Kaiyo’s mouth. ”I don’t really need one. My injuries aren't all that bad, and I’m taking tomorrow off from work so I can heal up. The bruises are easily covered with foundation,” she said quietly before giving a silent ‘thank you’ nod to Athren now that he was done changing. Anzu didn’t comment on anything else that was happening, instead choosing to retreat into her room with sprocket still in her arms. Not only did she have a lot to think about, but there was something about this situation that she just didn’t like.

While Athren had been changing an odd silence had taken midst in the apartment that held the four of them. Up until the youngest of the two sisters had began to speak and inform Athren of what their family reunions had been like. In all honest the pictures had sounded like the absolute worst part. Fighting off a demon on the other hand? That kind of sounded exciting. It was a shame Athren wasn't there with his new found powers. Of course he wanted to test out it's capabilities and he honestly had thought that it would be nearly impossible to find a foe to every come close to matching his powers. So far the closest competition for him would've been that Oozaru female but even she wasn't half as strong as his new form was. Though his thoughts were running wild it was time to focus back on the here and now. He was leaving, he didn't have time to linger on with concerns of their problems. He had his own to deal with. It was time for him to move on and rise up to become the strongest saiyan in the universe. Even though he may have already been, he needed to tone his personality to fit that he couldn't be weak minded or show any mercy. That wasn't what a true saiyan was like. He NEEDED to break all ties and train.
Avoiding eye contact with the red head girl Athren walked over to his scouter which had been laying on the kitchen counter. With his left hand he gripped it firmly, taking a look at this once commonly used piece of technology. Though it wasn't that he needed it to sense powers levels it was the fact that he wanted to use it as a communicator. The Oozaru female did make him curious. Maybe she could be of some use? He wouldn't have to worry about attachment either for she was a saiyan as well and typically saiyan's didn't grow attachment towards one another. Finally, Athren lifted his orange screen scouter to his left ear and mounted it.
Nearly ignoring almost everything else the girl had said Athren figured he'd speak up and answer another simple question that had been laid down on the table by the young female. It was about if he had found a place of his own. The simple answer to the question was no, he didn't but that was completely irrelevant. He was a saiyan after all. He could adapt to any conditions and find a way to survive. It could potentially even make him stronger in the long run which in fact would be a thing of greatness. "No. I haven't found a place to live and I don't really have too. I'll adapt to any situation that I encounter and conquer it. Simply because I'm a saiyan. No challenge will ever be too much for me. I will rise above all and claim what is rightfully mine."
It had been in that exact moment when Athren's hair reverted back to it's naturally colour of black as it fell softly back into it's natural place. His eyes turned back into their ocean blue and his aura failed. It would've been an easy thing to notice by everyone in the apartment. Athren had felt that his power had decreased and he knew that his transformation had faded. "Hm..?" He mumbled as he looked down at his hands once again only to get lost in his own thoughts. Clearly, there was work to be done in this transformation to get it controlled. That would be one of his first tasks while he's out on his own. Master it so it wouldn't ever fail him. It'd be perfect. ~ Hm. Guess there's a lot I've got to learn about this whole transformation thing.. I have to master it. Control it to it's full potential..~
It was in that moment that a word from Kaiyo had caught Athren's attention. Constricted? Athren then turned his full attention to the girl. His tone full of annoyance. "Constricted? If that's the only feeling this place gives you than you've got it easy, woman." He paused lightly but only for a short second, that word seemed to have put him on edge. "This place made me weak, pathetic. I was training for you, Anzu and that damn dog. It misguided my efforts and completely changed who I was. The worst part is I believed that I was meant for that. Meant to protect and help the weak." Angrily, his right hand gripped the table that stood behind him and flipped it over. "I almost died because my attention was on the fact that I might have not seen YOU or that damn dog again. Then it hit me, with all my efforts you gave me NONE back. I went to every extent to get at least a little bit of your attention and got nothing. I reduced myself to this pathetic earthling romance and attitude for nothing except for an attitude that almost costed me my life. Shortly after the incident. I realized something, Only the strong survive as the weak perish." His right fist then clenched tightly. "I'm a saiyan. It's time I started to act like one. No more useless emotions."
Pausing again Athren began to head towards the window. It was time to make his leave. There was nothing else to be said here. If she didn't say anything he would surely disappear out the window. If she had something to say, MAYBE.. just maybe he'd converse a little bit more before exiting the apartment.

At least nothing above Kaiyo’s neck was screwed up; eating was one of the few things she was capable of at the moment without causing herself a ton of pain. She chewed the small bean thoroughly before forcing it down her throat. The moment it hit her stomach, she felt the pain start to subside. Her ribs were mending. The bruises she had been covered in shrunk until they disappeared completely. The intense burns on her arms healed up. However, as she had already suspected, her inner arms were still scarred up and slightly disfigured. It didn’t bother her too much even if they felt kind of weird. Man, were they ever stiff though!
Once the redhead was positive that her ribs were fully repaired so they wouldn’t get cracked even worse, she pulled herself into a cross legged sitting position. Kaiyo stretched her out arms to loosen them up. It felt so awesome to be able to move on her own again! She didn’t feel like a dead weight anymore. That had probably been the most helpless she had felt in her entire life. It was a good thing that was over and done with.
Kaiyo raised an eyebrow as she placed both arms behind her, leaning back on the palms of her hands. Athren was leaving, but he didn’t actually have a place to go? She could have sworn that he would have had something like that taken care of before he made that kind of decision. While sure he didn’t have to, what was wrong with having a roof over your head? The teenager understood that someone could survive just fine without it. After all, she was planning on doing the same thing herself shortly. It was still nice to have. The redhead couldn’t see anything someone could possibly prove just by being homeless.
The Saiyan paused for a moment as his gold aura faded. His hair turned back to its usual black color; his eyes reverted to the normal shade of blue. Whatever was going on with him, it was easy to tell by the look on his face that he hadn’t been expecting that to happen. ”Well, I guess there goes any ideas that you had actually dyed your hair,” she commented casually, still trying to keep the mood as light as possible. It unfortunately didn’t look like it was working.
”I dunno. Maybe that was the wrong word...” she sighed. There was something he didn’t like about what she had said. Kaiyo hadn’t the foggiest idea what it was though. Seriously, who pissed in his coffee? While the redhead was trying to find a more accurate way to explain, he continued. What he had to say next made her eyes widen. Her, her sister, and even the dog he had brought home were seriously bring him down that much?!
She flinched a bit as the table in the kitchen was flipped, but did nothing more than that. Wait, romance?! Yeah, Anzu had pointed it out to her before that she really needed to open her eyes to that kind of thing. Kaiyo simply couldn’t help it. She had developed an aversion to that kind of thing that had developed over the years. It wasn’t just something she could turn off because her sister was hinting that a guy liked her. It wasn’t like Athren was a bad guy or anything. Usually, at least... It was kind of hard to tell whether or not that still rang true with how he was acting. By what he was saying now, the opposite was true.
The redhead closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Had Serra been right after all? Kaiyo briefly flashed back to when demon possessed relative had probed through her mind and pointed out how what she though was a new group of friends that actually understood and accepted her for what she was would be no different than the last batch. Maybe... Maybe it wasn’t such a big load of bullshit after all... The teenager grit teeth. Shit! No! She wasn’t having any of that! Kaiyo wasn’t going to lose it, especially at a time like this! The last thing she needed right now was to look like a blubbering, emotional moron! Still, it was kind of hard to ignore when this kind of stuff was coming out of someone she felt like she could trust so easily before Anzu had dragged her away to go put a stop to Serra...
With all of his stuff gathered, Athren started heading towards the window. This was it, huh? As much as she was preoccupied with trying to keep her emotions in check, Kaiyo knew she needed to say something. The problem was what the hell she was supposed to say. Her high school friends were a lot more subtle when they decided they didn’t want anything else to do with her. At the very least she was glad that he wasn’t trying to pull that shit on her.
”I never asked you to fight for me...” Kaiyo said quietly, noticeably less chipper than before. ”Having other people fight your battles for you... It’s never something that sat right with me. If that’s what kills me in the long run, then so be it. I’d take dying while fighting any day of the week over just sitting back and feeling useless.” Feeling awfully heavy for some reason, Kaiyo pushed herself off the floor and dragged her petite frame over to the usual armchair in which she sat. She was seriously starting to feel the weight of everything that was going on, both during her most recent battle and what was happening right now. Everything felt like it was all crashing down on her at once. She didn’t like it one bit.
”I’m not sure where you got the idea that you needed to lower yourself down to ‘earthling romance’ to get my attention. I ain’t like that. I thought that much was obvious. It’s not like I fit in with them or anything. I spend most of my time trying to avoid them,” she continued, slumping forward in her seat. ”I haven’t fit in with them for a long time now. Hell if I know why my family is so insistent on trying to blend in. Anyway, you already had my attention as someone I could trust. I was never too good at the touchy-feely crap, even before things started igniting when I was around. It’s just never something that I was good at. It’s not... me. I think that’s one of the reasons I need to get out of here. I need to do some... Fuck, what’s the term? Soul searching?” Yeah, that sounded about right. Kaiyo honestly wasn’t sure Athren would care about any of this. He honestly sounded like he had completely lost interest. At the very least, it was something she needed to get off her chest. ”Thanks for the flowers though. Meant to thank you earlier, but one of us is always out training, it seems. Thought it was worth mentionin’ before you high-tailed it outta here.”

The comment about his hair being dyed had went into one ear and out the other. He assumed she was just trying to lighten the mood. If she was serious then Athren wouldn't of even had words to reply with. Honestly, he was a saiyan warrior. Hair dye? PFFT! As if he'd ever come into contact with this stuff.
Stopping solidly in front of the window, Athren listened to every word she had said. She had a point. She never asked him to fight for her, it was just him. He'd have fought for them simply because he cared. He trained for them to get strong to insure their safety. In fact, he had done that for all of his friends. He wanted to be their light in the darkness. In all honesty, it was his own fault for letting it happen. This whole situation was his own fault. He didn't have anybody to blame but himself. Of course he couldn't see it that way as of now but there was a chance he could've grown in to believe it.
As she went on she had some very valid points, about her, about fitting in. She was right. It wasn't easy for people like them. She also had a point about the romance thing. He wasn't any good at it and he shouldn't have even bothered. She wasn't that kind of girl.
Then it had happened, she paused for a brief moment. Then said words that kind of hit him. She thanked him for his efforts. While everybody else, including him doubted his abilties and his efforts. She completely showed gratitude towards him. Though, he wasn't going to respond easily. In fact, he didn't exactly know how too.
Clenching his right fist tightly Athren began to shake lightly. His head tilted down and he stared to the floor for a moment. His thoughts were running wild. The whole soul searching idea she had mentioned did sound like a good one and he was going to leave no matter what happened at this point, but.. that didn't stop him from thinking. With this whole new power he had achieved and the events with Ukare that had taken place he didn't really know who he was, he didn't know what he was supposed to be. He thought he did, he was supposed to be a brutal saiyan but somewhere along the way that had faded with only his current thoughts of power and brutality coming back. Though, Kaiyo had once again but that on hold. Why the hell did she have to thank him? He had feelings for her, and he had surpressed them but once again they were coming back out. Damn it, way for a woman to complicate something that would've been so damn simple!
After a brief moment of silence from the young saiyan warrior he turned. His tone lightened up slightly. His softness began to start showing again. Though it wouldn't have lasted too long. His eyes shined brightly as their ocean blue colour locked onto Kaiyo, of course they'd preferably lock onto her eyes but if that wasn't an option then it simply wasn't going to happen. There was no way around it. He cared about her and that wasn't going to go away. Speaking up, Athren broke the silence in a softer tone. "Soul searching? That's.. Exactly... What I need right now." At this point in time, he didn't know what to do. His best friend was dead by his hand and every thought he had was bouncing around his head like a bouncy ball.
Though, there was one thing on his mind he was certain of. One thing he had wanted to do for quite some time now that he didn't have the chance to do before. If he had left not doing it, it could effect his own judgement on himself. He couldn't afford to let that happen. He needed to figure out who he was sooner than later and so far, the though of him being a brutal, ruthless saiyan fighter was the path that he thought was for him but before he made that solid choice, he had thinking to do and before that thinking, he needed something to think about. Step by step, the young saiyan warrior made his way over to the girl.
When he reached her, he crouched down to her level. If he could've, he would've taken both of her hands softly in his. Though he was nervous, it would only be shown in the form of a tooth nibbling on the corner of his bottom lip. If she'd have looked into his eyes as he hoped, he would've done something that he needed to do. He'd have quickly leaned in and closed his eyes. His lips would've made an effort to press against hers. Of course, if she had resisted or tried to stop it. It could've easily been done. He wasn't going to force it on her. Regardless, if it had worked. He'd only hold it for about five seconds or so. Maybe a bit longer depending on how she reacted.
Once he'd pull away, he'd exhale deeply and smirk slightly. ~ I can't believe I just did that, way to complicate things further. Idiot.~ Is all he had thought to himself.
