Name: Kaiyo Habane
Alias: N/A
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 19
History: Nobody in the Habane family knows exactly how it came to be that women all had the ability to use pyrokinesis. It had been in their family for at least twelve generations. Some say that thousands of years ago one of their ancestors protected a batch of phoenix eggs while the mother was away and received her blessing in return. Others say that that same ancestor made a wish on a magical dragon for these gifts. There have even been a few that suggest that ancestor wasn’t even human in the first place, and just appeared from the heavens draped in fire. While its origins still remain a mystery, it doesn’t change the fact that every woman in the Habane family has control over the element of fire.
Once a Habane woman settles down and is ready to have a family of her own, it’s tradition that she has only a single daughter before stopping. Teaching a single student how to control their powers is a lot easier and less hazardous to the world around you than teaching multiple. That daughter will start to manifest her powers around the age of 6-7, which is when her training begins. It is at that point that the mother will place a sort of binding seal on them that allows them to track them and summon them to her side if needed. Preteen/teenage girls tend to be a bit emotional and unpredictable, so letting one loose upon the world has unstable bursts of fire occasionally happening around her isn't all that great of an idea without some kind of leash. Once that daughter has mastered her powers and the mother thinks she's matured enough to be responsible with them, she breaks the seal.
Kaiyo is a bit of a special case. She isn’t the first, but the second daughter of Chipotsure. There was a lot of drinking involved that night, so of course one thing led to another. Her sister Anzu was six years old when Kaiyo was born, which is just about when she started to show signs of her power. Anzu was always a diligent student and took her studies very seriously. Kaiyo looked up to her. When she was about four years old, she would even sit in on the training sessions between her sister and mother. She even got taught the very basics of hand to hand combat; her mother saw it as sort of a jump start in her inevitable training, even in she couldn’t touch upon fire manipulation yet. Kaiyo was really excited to start using pyrokinesis like her big sister. However, there were never any signs that it had manifested within her. Kaiyo graduated elementary school and jr. high, but there was still nothing. Her family thought that it may have passed her over since she had been a second daughter until one day her school locker burst into flame when she was sixteen. Apparently being a second daughter just meant that she was an extremely late bloomer.
Even though she had been looking forward to being able to use this power for so long, Kaiyo found that having things around you spontaneously combust doesn't do your social life any favors. They become increasingly likely to happen whenever experiencing a strong burst of negative emotion. Her family tried their best to support her and try to encourage her to live a normal life until she could get her powers under control, but it wasn't as easy as it sounded. The random bursts of flame were a lot worse than when they happened to Anzu; she was only six when they started happening. Anzu had already had enough training to keep her powers under control by the time she was Kaiyo's age. Eventually, Kaiyo ended up losing any friends she had made up until that point since they were scared to be anywhere near her. Getting a boyfriend was strictly out of the question for that same reason.
Eventually, Kaiyo began to resent her powers. Since they had taken so long to manifest within her, she wished that they hadn’t shown up at all. Instead of having to adjust from a young age and getting used to life with pyrokinesis, she essentially had whatever life she had outside of her family ripped away from her just as she was becoming an adult. Now what was she supposed to do with herself?
Three years had passed and Kaiyo was still unable to fully control her pyrokinesis. She had made great progress and could even control the flames when they appeared to a certain extent, but they still appeared in random bursts. She had been bound to her sister and was sent to go live with her in her big city apartment since their mother was getting a bit too old to take on a new student. Anzu handles Kaiyo's training and still insists that she tries to go about her day like normal as best she can, to which Kaiyo ALWAYS gets absolutely pissed about. Her sister has no idea what she’s going through and how different things are for her; it only feels like she’s being patronized whenever Anzu makes a comment like that in a feeble attempt to make her feel better. Unfortunately due to the seal, she is unable to run off on her own.
Without the ability to keep a job for more than a few days or having any friends willing to spend time around her, all Kaiyo can do is bide her time and continue her training. Someday she would have this under control, right? Maybe then things could get back to normal...
Starting Planet: Earth
Techniques:
[N1] - Burning Impact
Kaiyo channels her fire into her fists or her feet, doing extra damage to her opponent when she strikes them.
[UP2] - Burning Impact
Kaiyo channels her fire into her fists or her feet, doing extra damage to her opponent when she strikes them.
[N1] - Fire Breath
Kaiyo fires an immense, blazing cone of flames from her mouth that damages and burns her opponent. This technique has the possibility of affecting multiple targets if they’re clustered together.
[SU] - Ignition Jump
Ignition Jump is the closest thing the women of the Habane family can get to Bukujutsu. They jump into the air and channel their pyrokinesis into their limbs. While airborne, they can then smash their feet or fists into the air as if they were hitting a solid object, which creates a small explosion and propels them in whichever direction they're trying to go. They have to keep periodically creating these small explosions if they want to stay in the air, otherwise gravity will take over and they'll fall back to the ground.
