"I don't think thats what Dad asked for? I mean, he's not shy about going to Blue Banner requisitions if he needs something, so I assumed he asked around first. Maybe he thought they were cheaper in Nicky Town?" Luke shrugged. "I'd go to him if you wanted to clear that up. Most of what I know about sciences is when he'd go ranting at my movies. Kept getting angry they got so many basic scientific facts so hilariously wrong. Like the ten percent of the brain thing."
"Actually, I was raised in Craters Landing. Far as I know, I was born their, too. Dad's a big name in a lot of scientific groups that way, so he was able to pull some strings for when he began working on me. Xenobiology samples, genetic sequences and genome maps of several species. Keeps telling me I got noble Arcosian blood in me, but I think he might have been pulling my leg. Not sure if I'd call that from scratch."
Then he got a bit distracted by the excitable saiyan. First it was hunger, that was... interesting. He wondered if they could scavenge anything on the way, but conceded he had no clue how to forage. He could have given him the candy bar he kept safe in his storage organ, a compressed and pressurized "bladder" located along his back and underneath the beetle wing shell. It kept things in remarkably good condition, not like they were drenched in slime or something. Without clothes or any storage pack, he needed some way to keep things on him. On second thought, though, it was a Mr. Badman bar, and he loved those too dearly to part under normal circumstances. It just made him wish he had a proper mouth to eat it like it was intended.
And then the saiyan tried lifting the former serpentine woman off her feet, quite literally. It was just so dopey it was both hilarious and heartwarming. If these two didn't end up at least hugging by the end of all this, it was a day wasted. Didn't matter if they got her tail back properly, they needed more hugs.
If he had a set of lips, he would have grinned at Vipoi. Yes, the meme was spreading as desired. Soon their would be no resistance. As it was, he settled for a fist bump between the two synthetic life forms.
"You think they see it, too?" Luke asked, equally quiet.

Finally, it was time to get going. Toma began to lead the way through the forest to his abode that he had offered up. Nai-Ran quickly found that actually moving forward instead of taking tiny steps that weren’t much better than walking in place was a wee bit more difficult. She couldn’t just keep all of her weight on her hands anymore. The Ryashi actually had to push off of the ground to make the motorcycle roll forward. She supposed that it really should have been obvious, but it was a lot to get used to. Strength wasn’t the issue. It was just awkward to maneuver both foreign limbs, let alone in unison of each other.
Slow progress was being made through the dense forest, but it was still progress none the less. Vi-Poi and the insectoid man were still conversing with each other. However, the young woman was far too busy concentrating on pushing both herself and the vehicle she was latched onto. As she was alternating between her left and right legs, Nai-Ran was counting them off in her head in order to try to get a rhythm down. 1... 2... 1... 2... 1... 2... It was helping a little bit. Though, the small rocks and twigs that she kept stepping on made it a little distracting. Was that why people wore ‘shoes’? The pants that the old woman had bestowed upon her had felt constricting enough on their own!
As if her sensitive skin wasn’t doing enough to hinder her concentration, Nai-Ran suddenly felt an arm slide around the backs of her knees and lift her into to air. She let go of the motorcycle in surprise and it felt over with a soft ‘thud’ into the dead leaves that littered the forest floor. ”Wah! W-What do you think you’re doing?” the young woman demanded meekly, looking up at Toma. Apparently the Saiyan had been getting impatient and no longer wished to move at the impeded Ryashi’s pace. Nai-Ran could understand that, but this was unacceptable! As a leader in training, she needed to appear capable and dignified at all times. While this scenario was making that rather difficult, there were better ways to go about speeding things along.
Taking a deep breath and regaining a small amount of her composure, Nai-Ran shook her head. ”Thank you for your assistance, but I’m going to need you to unhand me,” she spoke firmly. She placed both hands on Toma’s chest and pushed just enough to roll herself out of her grasp, flopping onto the ground belly first. That wasn’t so bad. Pulling her knees under her so that she could sit on them, the Ryashi yanked on the fallen motorcycle until it was standing upright again. She was about to reach of the handlebar again to resume walking when an idea hit her. She didn’t want her childhood friend getting impatient and trying anything like that again. Maybe learning to walk was best saved for another time.
The young woman looked back to Vi-Poi and the insectoid man. They were whispering to each other, and the one with blue hair was wearing a grin for some reason. ”Pardon me, but would it be possible to turn your motorcycle on? I don’t believe our host is too keen on waiting around for me,” Nai-Ran inquired in a tone that was half playful, half embarrassed. As much as she wasn’t fond of motor vehicles, perhaps the motorcycle was best used as it was actually intended rather than a glorified walking assistant at this point in time.

Not even a few steps later after he’d picked up the less-than-serpentine-lass he suddenly had her speaking, asking what he was doing. Before he got a chance to respond, she’d placed her hands upon his chest and pushed with enough force to nearly knock him down. He felt glad, at least, that her hopefully-temporary transformation hadn’t harmed her ability to hit things pretty hard. And, presumably, she’d still have the ability to conjure and fire her Ki blasts at will. Fighting would simply be rather awkward for her.
Though, Toma knew how fierce of a warrior Nai-Ran really was beneath her girly, slim appearance. Well, as slim as a snake person could be anyways. He had fought her once before when they were children, and even back then she had been able to keep up with him. Not even just keep up. She had provided a challenge for him! Sure, they had only been children, but from what he’d heard about Saiyans, that was impressive!
Saiyans were born and bred warriors, feared across the whole of the universe for their abilities. Ryashi weren’t known for fighting, and yet she had actually managed to give Toma one hell of a fight. He hoped he’d be able to rematch her one day. He wanted to see how far she’d truly grown. Though, he needed to improve his own abilities first before he could even hope to defeat her. What kind of friend would he be if he challenged her to a fight only to be defeated in a single punch? No, he needed to give her a fight worthy of her time! One that makes their childhood battle look like a mere squabble! A fight that worthy of a warrior of her stature!
But before Toma could do that, he needed to do two things. Train, and get Nai-Ran’s tail back. He sighed as she tried to stand up, grabbing back onto the motorcycles handlebars and pulling herself up. She turned to the person who had been driving the vehicle, asking to turn it on as Toma closed his eyes and rubbed the back of his head in annoyance. He really just wanted to speed this whole trip up and get to eating. He always thought of better plans when his stomach was full, but when it was empty he felt like all of his energy was just gone! Little did he know, that was the curse of the Saiyans.
But, there wasn’t much he could do. If Nai-Ran didn’t want help, then she wasn’t going to let herself get any. She was a stubborn girl, Toma knew that for a fact. Though that wasn’t always a bad thing. Hell, she’d only agreed to fight him in the first place when they were kids simply because he had kept pestering her. At least, anyways, that’s how he remembered it. So Toma began to walk again, towards his house. They weren’t far now. He could see it. In a small clearing, there stood the half-sphere house that he called home. There was a second building there too, the gravity chamber that Toma used to train in.
“Hurry up! We’re almost there!” Toma shouted without looking back, not aware of how close or far the rest of the group was.

Vi-Poi smiled at the polite Ryashi woman and nodded, fishing the key from his jacket pocket. It was a tricky ignition to turn, but Vi-Poi had devoted an entire batch file to its startup process. He slid the key in and gave it a precisely-timed jiggle before clocking it forward and flipping the engine switch. A gust of black smoke sputtered out of the mismatched motorbike’s rusty tailpipe, and the large engine grumbled to life. Birds fluttered up from the trees above, startling by the unnatural and alien roar in their home.
He showed Nai-Ran the throttle and the break, and gestured where to put your legs so you were balanced. “You can walk with it too.” He explained. “It’s low enough. But it’ll be awkward. Try not to throttle it up too quickly, though. It may not look it, but Malf has an explosive acceleration.” After a moment of keeping pace with her on the bike, he tilted his head curiously. “What is your home planet like?” He asked Nai-Ran. “Is it very different from this one? Are you the sole technological species on it? What is the political structure? Are there any mechanical facsimiles built there such as myself?” He smiled sheepishly, a light green flush of micromotor repair gel coming in blush response to his bloodless, pale face. His social algorithms were becoming much more humanistic. “I am an artificial human, in case you didn’t know. Forgive me for asking questions that stumble over each other. I am a naturally curious person."
Vi-Poi’s large blue eyes swiveled from Toma and back to Nai-Ran. “I think your friend is an alien, as well." He said more quietly. “Though that is more of a deduction on my part, than an observation. Is that the case? What is the likelihood that a ki-sensitive human would travel to another world, and meet you on your planet, only to see you again here when you happened to visit his home world? Very low. It is a much more likely scenario that both of you belong to a spacefaring species, spacefaring being a case where humans are only tangentially considered beyond the immediate local group of stars, as there is no extrasolar empire to maintain.”
They traversed the forest. Should Nai-Ran increase her speed by accelerating the motorbike, he would as well, flying along in a gentle sinusoidal motion to avoid trees while following Toma’s movements. He moved his gaze back to Toma, speaking in a louder voice so that he could hear. “You have the physical qualities of a Saiyan, dark hair and dark eyes, as Daiki and Zucceta did, but so do many humans. Most humans do not have a ki signature near so high as yours, though. Do you have a tail? Are you from Planet Vegeta?” He asked forwardly. “I apologize for my straightforward questions Toma, but the encounters I’ve had with the Saiya-jin have so far produced questionable outcomes.”
In a short amount of time, he could see a break in the trees up ahead. There was a round, domical house, with a second building nearby. He peered over to Nai-Ran, seeing how his new friend was handling her new transportation.
