The Fukurou Forest was dense and a bit chilly for the serpentine lass, but it wasn’t too bad of a place for an afternoon stroll. There were plenty of gaps in the canopy that allowed the bright sunlight coming from above to filter down to forest floor. That kept thing warm enough to be bearable, as well as keeping things light enough to see without straining her eyes. Nai-Ran was most certainly enjoying exploring all that Earth had to offer. The two deserts she had found was still where she was the most comfortable, but the change in scenery was nice too.
Suddenly, the young woman’s nose twitched as it caught a scent wafting through air. Ryashi weren’t the type to have super keen senses of smell, but this one stuck out to her. Nai-Ran recognized the smell not only from some of the incense sticks she had purchased during stay on Earth, but also from a bit of a special place in memories. The spicy sweet aroma had been labeled as cinnamon and cloves. Whatever it was called on this planet, she felt incredibly drawn to it. An investigation was in order.
While following her nose, it didn’t take long for her to come across a small hut sitting in a forest clearing. An old woman was standing out front hunched over a large pot. She was slowly stirring its contents with a long metal spoon. It was some kind of opaque, light brown liquid that was bubbling away in there. While the Ryashi didn’t know what the liquid was, she was positive that it was the source of the smell.
Upon spotting Nai-Ran slithering her way up to the hut through the trees, the old woman’s eyes went wide and she almost fell backwards. ”Oh! I’m terribly sorry for startling you! I smelled what you were cooking and just wanted to come take a look,” the young woman blurted out, throwing her hands up in front of her. Hopefully her curiosity wouldn’t give the elderly woman a heart attack. Much to her relief, as well as confusion, the hunched woman simply looked her up and down curiously and started mumbling to herself once she had regained her composure. ”What an odd specimen...” Nai-Ran blinked and tilted her head to the side. ”Umm... Thank you?” she replied with uncertainty. That was certainly a new one. Well, at least it could have been worse.
Nai-Ran looked around uncomfortably as the old woman continued to mumble to herself. She knew that she looked strange to those that inhabited Earth. Did the woman really have to keep staring at her like that though? ”So...” the serpentine lass began, trying to break the awkward silence that had befell the area. ”If you don’t mind my asking, what is it that you’re making? It smells lovely.” Jarred from her thoughts, the old woman looked up at Nai-Ran’s face and grinned. ”Oh, it’s just an old family recipe. Nothing too special there,” she cackled before resuming her stirring. ”You, on the other hand, I can’t say the same for. You’re not human, that’s for sure. Where did you come from?”
Nai-Ran smiled. This was much better. She slithered closer to the hut and coiled her tail under her so that she was in a sitting position. ”You’re correct about me not being human, but I’m not so special myself. I’m actually from a planet called Appodorra where there are plenty of others just like me. We’re called Ryashi,” the young woman informed her. ”If anything, I’d say that folks with legs are far more interesting. I simply can’t imagine trying to get around without my tail.”
The strange woman stopped her stirring once more and started looking her over again. ”Is that so?” she replied quietly, appearing to be deep in thought. What was she up to? Starting to feel uncomfortable again, Nai-Ran started to twiddle her thumbs. Perhaps it would be for the best if she just left. While she didn’t like to judge, this person was starting to give her a bad feeling. ”If you can’t imagine it, why not experience it for yourself? That’s the most exciting way that there is to acquire knowledge,” she declared with a mischievous glimmer in her brown eyes. ”Huh? I’m not sure that I follow you,” the Ryashi spoke warily. To this, the woman said nothing. Instead, she reached out both hands and wiggled fingers in Nai-Ran’s direction. ”What are you-” Nai-Ran started to ask, but she was interrupted by a sudden tingling sensation in her tail.
She looked down to see that her coiled tail was glowing with an eerie yellow light. It began to twist and turn as if it had a mind of its own and flung Nai-Ran’s torso forward into the dirt. What had the old woman done to her?! The young woman pushed her humanoid upper portion up with her hands and stared back at her tail’s odd behavior. It was glowing so brightly that you couldn’t even distinguish its red markings from the rest of her pearly scales. On top of that, it was starting to shrink! The Ryashi watched mesmerized as her tail got shorter and shorter until it eventually split in twain, and its tips began to reshape themselves. It didn’t hurt, it just continued to tingle. When the glow finally faded, Nai-Ran was left with a pair of human legs and feet where her tail once was.
”W-W-W-W-What did you do to me?” she stammered. The not-so-serpentine lass cautiously wiggled her new set of toes as she stared in disbelief. She obviously knew what legs were, but she never imagined there would ever be set attached to her! They looked so awkward... They also had no scales or natural armor of any kind. Speaking of coverings, Nai-Ran realized that the dress she was wearing was awfully short compared to normal human garb. She suddenly felt very bare...
The young woman instinctively reached down to pull the hem of her dress more securely over herself, her face going red in the process. ”Hmm... Yes, I suppose I’ll need to fix that,” the crazy old woman said to herself as she examined her handiwork. She wiggled her wrinkly fingers at Nai-Ran again and a pair of baggy, black pants appeared on the Ryashi’s lower half. Even with how loose they were around her legs, they felt incredibly constricting. It was better than nothing, but this still wasn’t okay! ”I don’t know what you did to me, but I need you to change me back to normal! This doesn’t feel right at all!” she practically begged. However, the strange woman simply wagged a finger at her. ”Nonsense. You look like the type who enjoys learning, and this is a once in a lifetime chance to experience something like having different anatomy. If anything, you should be thanking me.”
Thanking her? Thanking her?! Nai-Ran never asked for this! All did was make an offhanded comment and that was enough for the woman to decide to go through with it! She was finding it difficult to stay lady-like in this situation. ”I-I’m afraid that I must insist! Return me to normal!” The elderly woman’s wrinkled face twisted into a pout. ”You’re no fun. I suppose if you’ve really got something against learning, I can change you back. Just give me a minute to remember how to go about reversing it,” she sighed, tapping on her chin. However, she was quickly distracted by looking up at the sky.
”What? It’s this late already?! Sorry dear, that reversal spell is going to have to wait,” she changed her mind as she frantically reached for the broom lying up against the shack wall and placed it between her legs. Nai-Ran watched wide-eyed as the strange person began to rise into the air. Sure she had seen plenty of people fly before, but the woman couldn’t leave NOW! ”W-Wait a moment! Restore my tail first!” the Ryashi stammered. ”There’s no need to fret. It will wear off in a few hours anyway. Or was that a few days?” the old woman said with a cackle as she rose higher into the air. ”Days?!” the young woman repeated. She looked like a deer caught in headlights at this point. ”I can’t stay like this for a few days! Change me back before you go!” However, it was already clear that the woman had no intentions of sticking around. She was already flying off towards the horizon with nothing but the faint echo of her words lingering in the air. ”You’ll be fine!” was all that she parted on.
After sitting in silence for a few minutes and trying not to panic, Nai-Ran awkwardly flipped herself onto her back and sat up. This lower half felt so strange. The young woman bent her right knee and moved her ankle from side to side. The she did the same with left leg. This was no big deal, right? She could do this! This planet was absolutely filled with beings that moved around seemingly effortlessly on these things. How hard could it possibly be?
The first step to mastering her new limbs was standing up. ”Hmm... How did humans do this again?” she mumbled to herself as she stared at her new feet. Nai-Ran had never really paid attention to that part before. She found herself drawing a blank. The Ryashi placed the bottoms of both feet flat on the ground and pushed against it, but only found herself sliding across the dirt on her back. Okay, so that didn’t work. There were plenty of methods to try, she was sure. It was just a matter of finding the right one.
Nai-Ran rolled onto her stomach and lifted herself so was sitting on her knees. A look of triumph crossed her face. She was already almost there. There was nothing to it! Feeling that she was on the right track, the young woman lifted one leg out from under her and attempted to push herself all the way up. However, she lost her balance almost immediately and fell back to the ground, landing on her face. She groaned in frustration as she sat back up, brushing the dirt from her skin. As much as Nai-Ran tried to convince herself otherwise, this wasn’t going to be an easy task at all. It was going to be a long few days...

"One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninty Nine..." Toma spoke as he pulled his upper half up to the top of the tree where he was hanging from. His legs were wrapped around the branch, as well as his tail as he excercised. He was sweating a bit, as he was at the same time wearing his heavy weights. It made for a fairly descent excersize. He pulled himself up once more as he exclaimed "Two thousand!" Origionally, he was only halfway through his training regimen for the day, but then he felt a power nearby. It wasn't incredibly strong, not like the one he'd felt before, but still far stronger than he was. Yet, at the same time, it felt...warm. Gentle. Toma smiled. It didn't feel cold and distant like some of the other beings he'd met on this planet before, and he descided to go meet this person. His tail unwrapped from the tree branch and his legs straightened, causing Toma to fall. He flipped on his way down, landing perfectly on his feet as he looked over towards where the power was being felt. He slowly began to walk over there, listening to nature. The birds chirping, the bugs making noises, the wind blowing between the tree leaves... it was all so very pleasant for the Saiyan male.
That was when he overheard someone talking to someone else and smelled food in the air. He heard some panic and dispair in womans voice, then one of the powers flew off. He raised an eyebrow as he continued to walk, looking through the area to spot a pinkette woman who seemed to be having issues... walking? Was he reading the situation right? Why would someone of her age have issues walking?! The thought worried Toma a little. Not for his sake, but rather for the womans. "Uhh..." Toma spoke, as he stepped out behind a tree a few minutes after the witch had flown off. He walked up to the woman who was on the ground, his black cloak (weights) covering his tail and hiding it from view, as it was wrapped around his waist. "Are uhh... you alright, miss?" Toma spoke as he kneeled down on his feet, balancing himself in a spider-man-esque pose, where his feet were tilted up on his toes and his knees were bent. "You seem to be having a little trouble... is there any way I can help you?"

(Thread PL: 381,666 (With Weights: 95,417)) (Heavy Weights On) (Android Un-Sensible Trait)
Vi-Poi was riding his old racing motorcycle, Malfunction, through the Fukurou Forest at a frightful speed. His ki was heavily infusing it and his vector of force, of course, lending the mishmashed bike an absurd amount of energy. He was arrayed in his workaday dress suit – canvas white shirt, thin black tie, dark business coat, crisp trousers, and shoes so burnished they emitted a dark reflective glow. If it weren’t for the ridiculously-sized howitzer strapped to his back, he might appear an oddly-misplaced middle manager, or an enterprise school student. The great mortar cannon was gargantuan, somewhat over nine feet in length, and crashed through low-hanging branches, causing much ruckus throughout the Forest. It was one of Blue Banner’s new little toys, developed for Volunteer Army regulars and so Vi-Poi decided to test it himself.
Vi-Poi wasn’t out here for guns and fun, although the breaks in the trees zooming by were amusingly synchronous with the defragmentation program he had running on overlay in his Heads Up Display. No, he was hurtling through the Fukurou Forest because someone from the Blue Banner Army Special Corps had spotted a detachment of government scientists and commandos in the area. There was a very large ruin not too far from here that had once belonged to ancient Red Ribbon, and so now belonged to him.
Before he could arrive near those reported coordinates, a very large spike pinged on his built-in scouter. Two very large spikes. They were somewhere up ahead, through the dense trees.
Vi-Poi hmphed. Every time he went deep into this forest, he ended up meeting someone strange or violent or both. He jammed down the throttle of the bike, and hurtled towards it, performing impossible leaps over gnarled tangles of roots with ki-infused bursts.
He suddenly broke into a clearing, and his bike growled to a halt. A picturesquely quaint shack stood at the center of a large clearing, lit up by the highly contrasting light of the open canopy.
Up ahead, the two powers stood. Sort of. One was on the ground. And one was crouching over her. Vi-Poi at first suspected this was the tail end of a fight between the two, but then decided that the male was attempting to help the female to her feet. Was the woman drunk? She looked odd. There was something elfin and foreign-seeming about her face, but Vi-Poi couldn’t get close enough for his database to sort it out. The breaking light of the forest clearing and the blue shadows of the canopy behind it might be playing tricks on his sensors.
The woman must be disabled by drunkenness. Vi-Poi guessed. And the man is her mate, attempting to console her. The thought of such a situation inexplicably brought feelings of dread and discomfort. Was it the thought of sexual reproduction producing inefficient genetic dicerolls that bothered him so? That was part of it yes, but there was something else too.
Vi-Poi decided he ought to be helpful and understanding to this couple. He was wearing a weapon of Blue Banner after all, one emblazoned on its barrel with its logo, and as their logo might be recognizable to viewers of the news, he had to present a benevolent face to the public.
“Hello.” Vi-Poi called from his far-across position. “Are you inebriated? Do you require assistance?” He asked, placing his hands in his jacket pockets, straddling his low bike with feet planted on the ground.

Luke coasted above the forest, his energy keeping him going at a comfortable speed. Not that the forest was of immediate interest, however. Luke was on his way elsewhere, and it turned out ki flight was still the most efficient way of getting their. His flight path had been a straight line for the last few hours with no deviation. Which meant that when he felt several power levels nearby, it got his attention. Rolling right and cutting the acceleration, he stopped and let his senses fill in a bit more. Both were stronger than him, but that wasn't exactly a startling observation. One of them was just incredible, though, and what was more, it felt... distressed. Something wasn't quite right, but not violently so.
It was worth taking five minutes to check out. He let the energy slowly loosen its grip, bringing him into a gentle glide down. If he was sensing this right, they were just ahead. Landing in a space between the canopy, he saw movement ahead. Once he got closer enough on foot, he could tell it was a man. Nice suit, no idea why he couldn't sense him properly. He wasn't sure he'd ever seen a gun that big, but maybe all the guns he saw to this point were tiny? If, or rather, when, the man turned to see who was coming, he'd hold up his hands in a gesture of non-violence. He didn't feel like scrapping with anyone, higher power or no. Actually, now he got a closer look, he noticed the woman having trouble with her legs. Strangely, her clothes only covered down to her waist. And with a youthful lack of any filter between brain and mouth, he started with this gem:
"Where are her pants?"

Nai-Ran crossed her arms over her chest. She narrowed her eyes at her new lower half that was refusing to cooperate with her. There had to be some trick to this, right? Everyone else always made it look so easy! Perhaps looking at how a human did it was wrong? After all, tail or no tail, she was still a Ryashi. There was nothing that the old woman could have done to alter that. Perhaps she just had to find a new way to go about it entirely.
The young woman was so perplexed at how she was going to deal with her foreign limbs that she didn’t even realize that she was no longer alone in front of the old woman’s hut. Her head snapped up as she suddenly heard a voice coming from the edge of the clearing. A man with dark hair wearing a black cloak had approached her and asked if she was alright. She instinctively moved to coil her tail beneath her and straighten her posture. After all, Nai-Ran was a lady. Holding a conversation with someone while being sloppy about how she carried herself would be unacceptable. However, all her legs responded with were locking together and curling to the side. She looked down at them and frowned. Of course, that was why she was so distraught in the first place. It was still difficult to wrap her mind around how different they felt. It was then that she noticed the faint hum in the background of what sounded like... an engine? In the middle of a forest? Perhaps her lower half wasn’t the only thing the old woman had meddled with. Now she had to worry about whether she might have been going insane or not.
A momentary grimace flashed over her face as she pushed noise to back of mind and shifted her weight. Nai-Ran folded her legs beneath her so that she was sitting on her knees. As much as she didn’t like her current predicament, it was no reason to shame her upbringing. The young woman straightened her back and folded her hands neatly in her lap. She felt so incredibly short... ”I, umm... I guess you could say that,” Nai-Ran replied, not sure on how to react to the unfamiliar face. Not only was she a lady, but she was still training herself to be a leader. Neither one of those were really supposed to show weakness or that there was anything that could bring her down. This was a bit of a special case though...
”I don’t suppose you know magic, do you? Or at least the old woman that lives here?” she asked quietly. At the very least it was worth a try, even if it was a shot in the dark. Though, she shook her head before he could reply. The noise sounded like it was getting closer. Suddenly, a man pulled into the clearing riding atop some kind of motor vehicle. Nai-Ran raised both eyebrows in surprise as she looked up at him. The young woman had seen those types of machines practically filling the road during her visits to human cities, but never had she spotted one in such a remote location.
Perhaps it wasn’t the vehicle that he appeared on that shocked her so much. It also wasn’t the fact that he was dressed so formally to be riding through a forest while carrying with him what appeared to a rather large weapon. It was actually the question he asked that made her eyes go wide. ”Inebriated?!” she blurted out. To imply such a thing about her was absolutely ridiculous! As a proper lady, it was unthinkable for her to take part in serachi flowers, or alcohol as she had recently learned was Earth’s equivalent to the fermented plants of her home world.
Nai-Ran cleared her throat. She needed to remain calm and collected. ”No, I’ll have you know that I’m perfectly sober. My tail simply got taken away from me and was replaced by a pair of legs...” she trailed off, letting the words sink in as she actually heard herself say them. She surely sounded like a lunatic. The young woman sighed and rubbed her right temple gingerly. ”On second thought, maybe being inebriated would be more plausible in this case. I don’t suppose either of you know magic, or where the woman that lives here went, do you?” she asked, rephrasing her earlier question to the first man that had approached her.
It was then that a third man approached the clearing that they were gathered in. His arms were held up in front of him, wordlessly telling the small group that he bore them no ill intentions. Where were all of these people coming from? The young woman had been under the impression that forest was somewhat of a remote place. Obviously it wasn’t as remote as the deserts due to its harsh conditions being too much for most humans, but it was still supposedly pretty devoid of people. Though, the man didn't exactly look human since he appeared to be covered in some sort of pale external armor. Despite the covering over where his mouth should have been, Nai-Ran was able to hear him just fine. His words were a bit puzzling though. ”I beg your pardon, but are these not pants after all?” she asked curiously, looking down at the baggy, black pants that the old woman had conjured up before departing. Nai-Ran was admittedly no expert on what bipedal beings wore on their legs, but she could have sworn that that’s what they had been called. As cross as she was with the woman that had done this to her, she was at least grateful that she hadn’t left her lower half bare...

"No, sorry to say. I don't know Magic, but perhaps..." He trailed off, immediatly thinking of the Dragon Balls to perhaps restore this woman to her former self. He hated seeing a woman like this, even with her immense strength, being in such a situation. She was clearly distraught and that pained Toma. He didn't like seeing people be in pain or unhappy, even though he was unable to avoid it. He didn't say anything, yet. The Dragon Balls were to be a last resort if the woman couldn't get her tail restored by the witch she had mentioned. He frowned a little bit, his tail sliding out from the side of his jacket, revealing his saiyan heritage.
He shivered a bit and held his tail lightly with his hand. "Losing your tail... I couldn't imagine that. I'd lose my balance so fast!" Toma exclaimed, until the other two pulled up. One asked if the woman was drunk, and the other asked about pants. Toma looked back, and saw that Nai-Ran was, in fact, wearing black pants. The former-snake asked if they were pants and Toma replied. "Yea, those are pants all right." Toma spoke, before sensing the energies of the other two. To his suprise, the one on the bike, he couldn't sense. That was... weird. Why couldn't he sense him? Toma didn't want to think about it right now, but his stomach growled really loudly, and he blushed and laughed a bit again.
"Eheheh... I guess I'm hungry!" Toma spoke with a laugh, rubbing the back of his head. "And no, I don't know the woman in the hut... But perhaps, we should head to my place? I don't live to far from here, maybe a few minutes walk. But staying out here while it gets colder isn't going to be doing anything good for anyone." He spoke, looking at the other two. "What'dya you two think? We should help get her back to normal shouldn't we?"

So this was another alien. Vi-Poi thought curiously as he walked towards the wobbling woman. She was certainly a polite one, a trait he greatly admired. The black-haired fellow in the dark cloak seemed amiable as well.
When the newest arrival he scanned with interest. The creature, resembling something of a pearlescent pale, humanoid beetle, had BBA nanomachines in his bloodstream, meaning he’d either joined the Volunteer Corps – which given his fighting rating was utterly unlikely – or was something else. A special asset. Could this be the KAOS member he’d yet to meet? A Bio-Android, the correspondence had said. When he read that the micro-machina service history tags were at one point entered by a Dr. Arthur Eisenstern, he became certain. He’d read the name in the transfer request form.
“Luke.” Vi-Poi said with a nod to the golden-horned construct. “Strange meeting you here.” He said as casually as he could and tried to deliver a hinting wink, attempting deception with the two strangers should the new KAOS member he’d just met catch his signaling. He gingerly led his motorcycle to the couple on foot, judging that his initial assessment was off. These two given their dialogue were strangers as well. Magic? A tail? The woman the alien female referred to must have been a woods witch, one of those legendary practitioners of magic. Vi-Poi’s magic hunting priorities hummed with happiness at this fortuitous confluence of events. He cataloged the coordinates of the hut for later study by the Science Corps and fought the urge to go running in there himself to investigate.
The android swept his sensors to their maximum, deciding that there was nothing in range. There wasn’t much use hiding what he was, as there was a two-ton piece of machinery to his back. “I don’t detect any large energy signatures in the area.” He said, dismissing the minuscule power readings his built-in scouter dutifully listed that were most likely squirrels and other small forest fauna.
“Grab a hold of a handle bar, if you like.” He suggested politely to Nai-Ran. “It’ll get you started. It’s how children learn when they first begin to walk.” He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly at his incomplete explanation. “Well, not with motorcycles, but with aides.” He pursed his lips as he examined the pointy-eared, rosy-haired alien and added, “You are doing remarkably well for one used to alternative locomotion. Was it like a snakes tail? What was the magician like? Was the magic painful when wrought upon your body?”
His large blue eyes lit up at the suggestion of the dark-haired man, and his social algorithms took peak precedence, halting his flood of questions. His polite smiled turned more friendly, “Forgive my manners, I’m Vi-Poi.” He said in greeting to all three. “And yes, that sounds wonderful, if everyone else agrees.” Cataloging where this substantial power lived could prove useful. His constellation map of the Earth’s great powers was shoddy at best, and would need to be matured should he wish to expand Blue Banner influence beyond the hinterlands of the West. Perhaps he could even gain a sympathetic ear if events were efficiently processed.
Vi-Poi tilted his head back to Leukocyte thoughtfully. He was the greatest unknown here. Was he also on a mission from the BBA? It was entirely possible. All of KAOS was categorized as High-Level Standalone Class, meaning that nothing got in or out of it, and they were outside of the normal chain of command. He would have to update the information stream now that the Squad was growing.

The bug-man turned reflexively at the mention of his given name. Technically his full name was "Leukocyte", after the project and in spirit of the intended function of a designed guardian. Kind of a mouthful, though, so he'd long since opted for just Luke. Made him sound less like a thing, and more like a person. Plus, nobody was willing to validate paperwork on someone with a name that out of the ordinary.
"Wait, how do you know-" Luke started, then stopped. Stepping to the right and holding up his hands to make a "frame", he took a second look at the blue haired stranger. Which is then where he remembered where he'd seen that face before. Back when he was getting officially brought into the Blue Banner, they had a small briefing segment. This was the founder of the Blue Banners, in the flesh.
"Oh, hey Vi- Er, Admin Azure? Boss? Chief? Um. Sir." Luke bungled. "Not gonna lie, that came out of left field. Uh, do I have to salute, or...? Because nobody told me if we had one. I asked, but I think they were put off by the... chitin."
He walked with Vi-Poi, not entirely sure what the wink was for. Something in his eye, maybe? He never had that problem, himself, because of a membrane that worked as a lens over his sclera. Not sure which species he got that one from. Any way he cut it, following the boss in the presence of two strangers was probably the smartest thing he could do. Not that they seemed hostile, just a bit out of the ordinary. If that were a bad thing, then it reflected poorly upon himself as well.
Luke nodded in the affirmative to the whole find the witch idea. He was biologically programmed to help people, and that didn't just mean punching problems until they stopped breathing. If, or when, Nai-Ran took the handle, she would find Luke behind her just in case she lost her balance.

Nai-Ran had figured it would be a longshot that any of them might know magic, but it’s not like trying had set her back at all. The first man that had approached her revealed a brown, furry tail from beneath his cloak. Ah, so he had Saiyan blood running through his veins. Nai-Ran was somewhat familiar with his race. At least he hadn’t been rude or violent, like several of them she had come across so far. He seemed to be a bit confused though. ”It’s not quite the same. You see, not only was my tail taken away from me, but I’m not supposed to have legs to begin with. Balance is certainly something I need to work on, but so is learning how to move with them in the first place,” Nai-Ran explained before turning to the other two.
The second and third men to enter the clearing appeared to already know each other. They had been conversing briefly with each other while that Saiyan had presented his tail to the young woman. The man in the suit was now walking closer to them, wheeling his vehicle alongside him. He offered it as an aid to help Nai-Ran get used to using her new legs. The Ryashi eyed it warily for a few moments. She didn’t much care for those types of machinery. Whenever she had encountered them in cities, they always smelled funny and made for too much noise for her liking. Still, she felt rather pathetic not being able to move properly. Leaders needed to be self-sufficient. If this vehicle was going to help her overcome this, then she wasn’t going to turn down the man’s offer.
Nai-Ran scooted herself closer to the motorcycle, not wanting to leave her sitting position. Once she was close enough, the young woman grabbed onto the handlebar and effortlessly pulled herself up. Nothing had changed at all about her upper half. Her arms were still plenty strong. At least she didn’t have to worry about being completely immobile. Being no stranger to vertical pushups, Nai-Ran hoisted herself up far enough so that her legs weren’t even touching the ground before lowering herself onto her feet. Okay, she was standing. That alone was a step in the right direction, all joking aside.
She decided to just stay like that for a moment in order to get used to the feeling, though she was a bit frustrated that she couldn’t make herself any taller. Nai-Ran was used to being able to raise and lower herself as needed so that she could sit at eye level with people. With legs, she was stuck at being the same height unless she wanted to sit down. Not only that, but her feet felt were sensitive compared to tail with their lack of scales or thick hide. Was the ground always that bumpy? While she was trying to adjust, the young woman turned her head to face the man covered in the pale exoskeleton who was standing right behind her. ”Thank you very much for the thought, but I should be alright as long as I don’t let go. I’m stronger than I look,” she said with a confident smile.
While Nai-Ran continued to get used to the standing position, the man who had offered the motorcycle was asking her about her tail and exactly what happened to her. He sounded very interested in it. She supposed there was no harm in talking about it. He was being generous in helping her get used to her new lower body, so it was least she could do. ”Yes, though I prefer to think of it as a serpent’s tail. The word ‘snake’ seems to have negative connotations on this planet for some reason.” The second sentence came out a bit quiet, as if she didn’t want to focus on it too much. Nobody on this planet ever called someone a snake and had it mean anything pleasant, for some reason. It always seemed to be used in an insulting way. ”What was she like? Well, she was a bit of an eccentric old woman. She claimed that I looked like the type who sought knowledge. While I suppose that that’s true, I never wanted anything like this,” she sighed, making a note to keep any curiosity about the features of other beings to herself from now on. One fiasco like this was more than enough for her. ”The magic she used to alter me wasn’t painful though. It just felt incredibly strange.”
The man with Saiayn blood’s stomach suddenly let out a rather loud gurgle, announcing to the world that it was in need of sustenance. Looking a bit embarrassed by it, he offered to bring them all back to his home. The man who introduced himself as Vi-Poi seemed to be all for it. Nai-Ran pursed her lips and stared back at the hut that belonged to the elderly woman. She had wanted to stay here so that the old woman could fix her immediately after she came back. There was honestly no telling how long that would take though. As the Saiyan had mentioned, the forest was going to get a lot colder once the sunlight faded. The last thing she needed was for her body to try to shut down on her.
”Thank you for your offer; I accept. I’m not sure what any of you could do to help me get back to normal though if you aren’t well-versed in magic. Thankfully before the woman left she mentioned that it would eventually wear off. It could be days before that happens though,” she explained. As much as she was hoping that the old woman had been correct the first time when she had said it would only take a few hours, something told her that she wouldn’t be quite that fortunate. ”I am Nai-Ran of the Rassuto, but I would prefer it if you just called me Nai-Ran.”

Toma found it odd that the two men around him, one appearing to be an insect, and one speaking in a more formal manner, seemed to know each other. One appeared to be confused as to how the officer in dress knew him, but seemed to realize whom he was only a moment later. Toma found that odd, but perhaps that was the way the military organizations worked on this planet? They were clearly that of some sort of political stature, even Toma could tell that. Why else would one dress so formally? Though, politics weren’t something that Toma personally prefered to get interested in. He found the whole thing rather boring and pointless. Why couldn’t people just get along? Though, Saiyans never were known for being exceptionally intelligent, save for a few.
Toma watched as the woman effortlessly pulled herself up from the ground and onto the bike. Even though it wasn’t an impressive act for someone of her power level, despite her petite appearance, Toma’s suspicions were confirmed. This woman was a fighter of some kind. Based on her lack of bulging muscles, perhaps she was a fighter based around her Ki? Or, perhaps, her species -- whatever it may be -- simply didn’t gain the massive muscles that Saiyans and humans gained when training. After all, she did mention being a serpent.
“A serpent?” Toma spoke, as he pulled a hand to his chin, thinking back to his people. Reptilian species, hm? That would explain why the woman didn’t enjoy the cold. He knew of a species like that. It was a vague memory. One from his childhood. His eyebrows furrowed at the thought as he clawed at the back of his mind. He had went on a trip of some sort. What had it been again? Something political, of course. His “father” had been a political member of the Sylorian species. He had also owned a large mining company, and he knew that he dealt with many other people, especially those of power.
But what Nai-Ran was saying, it sounded so… familiar. And Toma couldn’t wrap his head around it! And that frustrated him to no end! But then, she said her name. Nai-Ran… Nai-Ran… NAI-RAN! “That’s it!” Toma exclaimed with a sudden realization. “Nai-Ran from Appodora!” Toma continued, his face lighting up as he let out a laugh. He remembered her now. They had met once, when they were children. Toma and his family had traveled to Appodora for buisness of some manner, and Toma and Nai-Ran had hung out. Gosh, that must’ve been a decade ago. But Toma didn’t care. It was nice to see an old friend, and she still appeared to retain her old strength. That was good. Toma had fought her once when they were kids, and he was glad she hadn’t stopped training. Though, she was far stronger than he was, now. Toma could tell that just from the way she held herself, even though he could sense her energy. And that, admitedly, made Toma rather jealous. Though he’d just have to improve himself even more to catch back up with her.
“Remember? My name is Toma! We met back when we were kids!” Toma explained to the less-than-snake lady. He now had a lightness and excitedness to his voice now. Much happier than just a few moments ago. “I can’t believe I didn’t recognize you sooner!” Toma exclaimed, letting out another set of laughs again. But then he remembered what he had just offered her. A stay at his home. He was now way more than happy to offer her a room, especially in her time of need. After all, that’s what friends were for, right?
“But yeah, my place isn’t too far off. If that witch shows up again, I’m sure we can help out. And I might not know magic, but I do know someone else who can help if your tail doesn’t get turned back to normal.”

Vi-Poi carefully cataloged Nai-Ran’s telling of her encounter with the woods witch. It wasn’t much to go on, but it would be a helpful meter for assessing the interactions of other biologic life with magical phenomena. He turned to the pale-armored Leukocyte and grinned. “We do not yet have a formal salute, no. Though we my have a pose one day.” He said with some amusement. “And I’m not the boss. I just facilitate. Call me Vi-Poi.” He maintained pace with Luke while they moved.
Vi-Poi studied the bio-android’s exoskeleton and chitin matrix more carefully. It was truly remarkable. Insectoid, replete with beetle-like wings on his back. He wondered if he used those to fly, or if they were simply added armor. “How goes your training?” He inquired to Leukocyte. He was sensitive to the fact that the KAOS fighter might be reconnoitering in secret, but he supposed training regiments were normal enough talk around beings of such energy states.
The dark-haired fellow, who, given attention levels, Vi-Poi was beginning to uncomfortably suspect may after all be enamored with the pink-haired and elfin featured woman after all, began to exclaim excitedly that he recognized Nai-Ran. Vi-Poi also got a name to put to his face – Toma. His sensors curiously swept up and down the tall man. His coat wasn’t observing normal aerodynamic properties for its mass and structure. Vi-Poi stored that interested fact away for later review, as well as the name of Appodora – a planet, presumably – from which Nai-Ran hailed. He’d never heard of it.
Vi-Poi hmmed quietly after Toma relayed their childhood encounter. What were the odds that two beings, meeting on a separate planet in their childhood, would meet again in a chance encounter on a different planet later in their lives? Astronomical. Unless there were other factors not taken into the calculation. That was the problem with statistics and information theory. One could never know the true probability of an event in which one did not know the total value count as well as the entire information regime.
Perhaps there were such instances at play here.
“Are you an alien, as well?” Vi-Poi asked Toma, to assuage his curiosity.

Luke quietly backed away at Nai-Ran's insistence. Never had he doubted her strength, the power he was sensing was far above his own. Helping was just sort of what he was around for, so he did. Still, if she didn't want it, she didn't want it and that was where the line ended. He cast his senses out again, coming back presumably empty. He expected a witch of any skill to possess a power level enough for him to sense, if she could do what she did. Then again, she could have been suppressing her power intentionally. Anyone that casual about altering someone else was probably not entirely virtuous of character.
Then the man, Toma, opened up. Apparently the two of them were childhood friends, reunited after so many years. Seriously, it was completely and utterly adorable. Maybe the plot of a few movies he saw when he was a kid. While everyone was focused on Toma, Luke let out a quiet "I ship it."
Next was Vi-Poi's turn, now that he was certain he could call him that. Thankfully he wasn't too strictly military, otherwise they would have clashed by now. Leukocyte had never been part of a disciplined command structure before. Plus, he was technically still five years old. Some room to breathe was healthy.
"Alright, I guess?" He shrugged. "Hoping to move up to using weights soon, though. May as well save up for medium weights, I figured. Mostly been focusing on ki control techniques, seeing what I can do with the stuff. I was actually on the way to Nicky Town, checking to see what they had for that. Plus my dad needed someone to pick up a new spectrometer."

Nai-Ran tilted her head to the side curiously at the cloaked man announced that she was from Appodorra. He knew of her home planet? Most of the people she had encountered so far on Earth had never even heard of it despite its popularity as a vacation spot. Those that had been responsible for choosing that planet in which her Ritual of Discovery would take place must have picked one practically unfathomably far away. Though, the even more unusual thing here was that the man specifically knew that she was from there despite never mentioning to him that she was a Ryashi. Did the young woman know him?
The man finally introduced himself as Toma. The Ryashi’s face shifted into a look of puzzlement as she wracked her brain in an attempt to remember him. The name certainly sounded familiar... Oh! Nai-Ran DID know him! Toma had visited the Rujju Sands with his family several years ago for trade negotiations. She had always thought it was odd that he looked significantly different than those he was with since they were supposedly his parents. Nai-Ran never would have guessed that he was a Saiyan. Then again, she didn’t even know what a Saiyan was back then. Her father had assigned her to act as a guide to Toma while the negotiations took place. It had been a nice change considering that he usually made her sit in on such political matters. They had always been so boring. Still, what were the odds of meeting him here after so long?
”Toma! I didn’t even recognize you. It truly had been a long time, hasn’t it? You seem to be doing well after all these years. I would offer you a rematch, but...” the young woman trailed off, glancing briefly at her legs. ”I’m not exactly capable of combat at the moment. Chances are I would just end up falling on my face.” During his stay, he had always been eager to spar with her. It was practically all he had wanted to do until finally got permission from her father to have heavily supervised duel. However, that was enough reminiscing for the moment.
”I don’t believe that any of us are in disagreement about relocating to your home. It’s just a matter of you leading the way. Shall we?” Nai-Ran asked, looking back to Vi-Poi and the insectoid man that had yet to introduce himself. The two of them were still conversing with each other. It sounded like they were in some kind of organization and that Vi-Poi might have been in a position of authority. Whatever the details of that might have been, neither one of them had objected to Toma’s idea.
While Nai-Ran waited for Toma to lead the way, she figured that standing up would only get her so far. If they were going to start moving, then she needed to actually start taking steps. The young woman took a deep breath. She could do this. Placing all of her weight onto her hands that were still grasping the motorcycle, the Ryashi took a single, wobbly step forward. Hey, that wasn’t so bad. All she had to do was not place any weight on her feet and she wouldn’t have to worry about keeping her balance at all. It might have proven to be a bit problematic when Vi-Poi needed his motorcycle back, but they were all headed to the same place for the moment.

Toma smiled as Nai-Ran recognized him and spoke about him doing well. He supposed he’d have to tell her about the real reason why he was on this planet sooner or later, preferably after the two who had joined them were gone. Sure, they seemed like decent people, but that was a personal matter that he didn’t feel that he needed to involve others with. Shortly after, Nai-Ran had reminded them that they had agreed to go to Toma’s home. He smiled and nodded, rubbing the back of his head. He’d forgotten in his haste that he’d even invited them!
“Hahaha, right. Sorry about that. Yeah, let’s get going.” Toma spoke as he started to walk towards his home, a little bit to the north. It was roughly four miles away. Normally, flying that distance wouldn’t have taken more than a few moments due to the speed at which Toma was capable of moving, but right now, they had someone who couldn’t move at that speed.
And that annoyed the already hungry saiyan.
He frowned once more as his stomach growled again, and his face drooped and showed his displeasure at the situation. “Why is this taking so looooooonggggg!” Toma whined to himself mentally as his stomach growled again. “I know, stomach! I know! Shut up already!” Toma commanded, but still, his stomach disobeyed by grumbling again!
“Grrr…. This is taking too long!” Toma exclaimed a few minutes into their trip, and he turned around, and looked at Nai. “You’re too slow! We gotta move faster, I’m starving!” Toma spoke, as he dashed over to Nai in an instant, and he would pick her up the way a man would carry his bride. One arm under her knees, the other holding her by her back. That is, assuming of course, she didn’t just slap him away. After all, she was far stronger than he was.

Vi-Poi listened intently to his pale-carapaced friend. “A spectrometer, hmm? Sounds interesting. Did your father design you from scratch?” He asked softly. “If you ever require, we have several of the magneto-prismatic variety in our labs. Perhaps I should visit this Nicky Town with you. I should like to meet those who raised such a good and strong being.” He said with an earnest smile. Thinking of goodness, Vi-Poi flipped he safety to the massive mortar on his back. There was nothing good that could come out of a low-hanging branch making a crater so near this Toma’s home, or ruin some small and chittering forest family’s day.
Though he’d not answered Vi-Poi’s question, as he seemed fixated on Nai-Ran, Vi-Poi surmised that he may or may not be an alien. He certainly fit the physical description of a Saiyan -- Toma’s eyes were as dark as one, and also his hair -- but many humans also carried those characteristics. He’d have to see the proof in the swish of a tail. Perhaps under that cloak there was one, or curled about his waist as he’d seen Daiki do on occasion.
Vi-Poi watched as the slender and rose-haired Nai-Ran used his motorcycle for support, a small smile on his face. The machine was a sturdy and sumptuous little thing, if one had the eye for mechanical design. Certainly, it was none-too aesthetically pleasing. Much of it was made of mismatched parts, patched together during stovetop fixes. In some parts, it was held together by mechanic’s tape. But it had a certain trustiness that went along with anything that had been deconstructed and recreated countless times. There was an inherent strength imbued when in constant change.
It was supporting the friendly Ryashi well enough, too, as they bumped along the forest floor.
Before long, Toma began to complain about his hunger. He moved swiftly to the Ryashi woman, arms sliding to sweep Nai-Ran off of her feet. Vi-Poi hmmed at the attempting lift. The Ryashi would never learn to walk on her own, if someone else did the walking for her. The bike would probably fall, but it has been through far worse than a bed of dead leaves.
The android understood that there was such a thing as chivalry, and gentlemanly behavior in the process of courtship. He’d seen it preformed several times in movies he had viewed. Perhaps this fell in that overall regime of mannerly behavior, but he had trouble understanding how unilaterally removing someone from their chosen mode of transportation was under that same umbrella. Animals carried strange notions, the lot of them.
“I ship it too.” Vi-Poi said with a grin at the display of attentive affections from Toma. It was one of those human phrases that swirled along the networks, of inscrutable origins. Vi-Poi did not know what a ship had to do with creating a facsimile romance between two mostly-fictitious people… perhaps he should find out. He opened his mind up to the global network, idly seeking the answer out as they slowly but surely made their way to Toma’s house.
