So, it occurred to me earlier today that we're missing out on an important component of the space pods: the ability to project a false moon into the atmosphere. What does everyone else think of implementing this function as a space pod upgrade, in the same way that a stealth drive and efficient engine are done?
There could be different versions for the specific events, each costing maybe 2000z-3000z, and they could have a (low) PL requirement for destroying either the image or the pod, in order to keep Power Ball unique as a special. I'm thinking of restricting them to the pods to give a reason for their use, but there's no real logical reason why.

If this was a thing... I'd say limit it to a post number minimum, Have 3 tiers each at increasing costs. T1 - 2,000z - 5 posts T2 - 5,000z - 10 posts T3 - 10,000z - 15 posts. Power Ball is unique for a reason, Adding this in regardless of how it was implemented would sadly reduce the uniqueness of the Power Ball so I doubt it will go through anyways. Post number limitations are the only way I could see this being a thing, also making it so it can only trigger 1/thread would be required.
However it's less the image of the moon that triggers the transformation, it's the Blutz Waves that emanate from the Moon. So it's less that the pods show the moon and more they emit these blutz waves.

1/thread would go along with it being attached to the pod, I think. If you destroy the pod, there's no reusing it in that thread. Whether the pod itself and everything would have to be purchased again would be up for debate, though.
On that note, treating it as a one-use item could work, as well.
As far as the last bit, it's a bit of both. Blutz Waves are absorbed into the tail where they interact with specialized glands, then looking upon the image of a full moon triggers the actual transformation. That's just Toriyama's inconsistent lore, though.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the entirety of this concept. Giving an item specific upgrades that only really benefit a few races is not something I'd like to see. There's no reason why a non-event character would ever buy this upgrade, since they'd have no use for it. On top of that, I don't really feel like a spacepod being able to incur an environmental effect makes any sense mechanically. They're travel items, not combat items like how a Senzu bean would be (which, might I add, are universally benificial to every race)
I know we have items that only benefit a single race, those being Androids, but that's entirely different as those items are a main component of the Android's race, and they are the only ones even allowed to purchase those items. They're balanced around them, whereas Saiyans are not balanced around this concept.
