It wasn't an unusual thing for Athren to wake up on his small couch with the feeling of stressed and exhausted muscles but this was much, much different. It wasn't exhausted muscles that were the cause of the problem. The problem was the amount of punches, kicks and scratches he had received the day before due to his spar with the warrior namek. It really didn't feel good at all. It wasn't often that he was somebody's punching bag either and his appearance matched too. His outfit was beat and tattered. Ripped at multiple spots and of course it was dirty and blood stained, on his home world this was the casual look for the young saiyan.
Finally, the young man's eyes opened. The cause of them opening was a moisture that slightly tickled the tip of his nose. What he saw was kind of a surprise. Sprocket was sitting on he chest staring right into Athren's eyes and gently licking his nose. The pup wasn't even making one single sound. Of course, this was more than enough for Athren to get a huge smile on his face. "Well good morning there, little guy." With that, Athren sat up on the couch and gently moved Sprocket onto his lap. With his right hand he petted him softly. During his movement he grunted lightly. His abdomen had been hit multiple times and had been bruised enough to cause a light sting every time he'd require to use them. Speaking to Sprocket once again Athren's smile refused to fade away from his face. "You should have seen. I got my ass kicked pretty good out there yesterday. One hell of a rare occurrence." With that Sprocket tilted his head at Athren. With his right hand Athren pointed to the ground as a gesture for Sprocket to move to the floor. With a very quick response time the puppy did just as its new owner had commanded. So far, the puppy was an awfully quiet one.
Slowly Athren slid his legs over and planted his feet down firmly on the ground. Pushing himself up it felt like his right one was going to give out from underneath him and he figured he'd be planting his face firmly against the floor. Lucky he managed to stand his ground though. "Remind me not to go fight anymore Nameks. Alright Sprocket?" Responding to Athren, Sprocket let out a loud bark that echoed through the apartment. Slowly Athren began to walk over to the kitchen's sink, as he walked he had his left hand holding his abdomen where they were hurting. With a quick glance down Athren saw the cuts around his knuckles from the Namek's razor sharp nails. "Bah. I think I need to train more.." He mumbled to himself as his new companion followed. Arriving to the sink Athren stretched out his right hand and used it as a support to prevent himself from falling over. Releasing his abdomen Athren reached up his left hand and opened one of the kitchen cupboards and grabbed a clear glass from it. Closing it shut he then lowered the glass and placed it in the sink where it appeared to be directly under the tap. He then twisted the nozzle on the cold side quickly and to full blast. With only minor spillage into the sink out of the glass Athren quickly turned it off. He then gripped the glass firmly and brought it up to his lips. Tilting it back and chugging the thing in a matter of seconds. He then rested the empty glass upside down in the sink. The whole time, Sprocket had sat quietly on the floor staring up at him. He didn't know what Athren was doing but he was going to follow him anywhere he went. Of course that was only until the small puppy had got distracted.
Athren decided to move his tail to the most relaxed position he could. Which was almost straight down behind him. The thick, dark grey tail was more than enough to catch Sprockets attention. Getting to all fours now Sprocket let out a loud BARK once again and rushed to Athren's tail. Catching the movements of the dog out of his peripheral vision Athren lifted his tail just as Sprocket leaped up to try and sink his teeth into it. His small paws coming back down against the floor the puppy made another yelp and turned around and sat himself directly under Athren's tail. "So, You think it's a toy. Do you?" With that being said, Athren had lowered his tail slowly for his tiny companion. When Sprocket leaped up to grab it. Athren quickly tugged it up. He'd do this for a few minutes anyway, until he found something better to do.... Everytime the small puppy landed, his small paws could be heard hitting the floor. It wasn't loud, but a very unusual noise.

Kaiyo grumbled inaudibly under her breath between yawns as she trudged up to the third floor of her apartment complex. Anzu had the day off that day, so she had snatched Kaiyo up during her walk last night for some training. The two of them had gone out to their favored training grounds, alternated between sparring and periods of heavy exercise, and then decided to call it quits once the sun had just started to pull itself up into the Eastern horizon. While it had started a bit later than most of their training sessions, it was nothing out of the ordinary for the two of them. Though, it was kind of weird that Anzu had run off somewhere instead of coming straight home like she normally did. Whatever, it didn’t bother Kaiyo any. Right now she just felt like she needed sleep.
Releasing another yawn, the sleepy teenager stopped in front of the door and started fishing around in her pocket for her key when she heard noises coming from within. Kaiyo paused and stared at the door for a second. Had someone broken in while they were out? Hah, that would be the day... Imagining your run of the mill burglar breaking into the apartment of a couple of accomplished martial artists with pyrokinesis actually sounded hilarious. She kind of wanted to see it happen someday just to see the priceless look on the poor bastard’s face. But no, that definitely wasn’t the case this time.
Kaiyo stood there staring drowsily at the door as she listened in on what was going on inside. Wait a second, that was Athren’s voice. Yesterday he had flown out the window in search of some guy that was supposedly hunting Saiyans. The teenager honestly hadn’t expected him back so soon. His voice was accompanied by some sort of thumping sound, but it was probably just him training again. That guy had a one track mind.
The door was already unlocked, which made sense since Anzu had given him an extra key for such an occasion. Not needing her key anymore, Kaiyo just decided to stroll in. At the very least she could say hello and check in with how things went before retiring to her room and passing out. ”Welcome back Athren. How’d the hunt go?“ she called to him as soon as the door creaked open. However, she stopped in her tracks a few feet past the entryway as he came into view. Someone had seriously roughed him up from the looks of it. ”Jeez, man. You okay?“ the redhead asked, looking him over and shutting the door behind her.
Kaiyo couldn’t quite see the extent of his injuries since he was facing the kitchen sink. However, as she looked him over from where she stood, her eyes fell upon the tiny critter at his feet that was jumping at his tail. Weird, what was he/she doing there? The teenager pointed at the small puppy and looked back up at Athren’s face with a confused look. ”What’s with the furball?“she asked with a raised eyebrow. However, she quickly shook her head. ”Nevermind, save it for later. Gimme a sec.“ With that, she quickly disappeared into the bathroom.
She was only in there for a few seconds before emerging with the oversized first aid kit that the Habane sisters kept underneath the bathroom sink. Kaiyo was no stranger to its contents. She had been patching up both herself and Anzu for as long as she could remember. After all, there had been plenty of occasions where either one sibling or the other came out of their training sessions with more than just scrapes and bruises.
Kaiyo plopped down in her usual spot on the armchair next to the couch and motioned him over. ”So what exactly happened out there anyway?“ she asked, rifling through various small bottles and packages that filled the large plastic box. Again, she had only given him a once over so the wasn’t sure exactly what she would need at the moment. At the very least she would end up tossing some ointment and simple bandages his way since she had caught a glimpse of his knuckles. Infection was a bitch.

Watching Kaiyo walk in through the front door planted a very large smile on Athren's face. This would probably be the first smile Kaiyo would see on Athren's face. Of course there would be many more to follow. Upon her greeting Athren quickly replied before she commented on his condition. It wasn't much but a greeting nonetheless. "Well Hey there." It was a strained greeting due to the pain that Athren was in but he still managed to get out before she said anything more. While he spoke Athren would have attempted to straighten out his posture and stand tall. That didn't go over to well as he was reduced back into a small hunch caused by the pinch of his abdomen, it even showed on his bruise up face as he winched lightly. ~ Guess I'm not going to stand straight..~ he thought to himself.
Of course Athren's new friend was quite curious about this strange girl entering the place and he couldn't help but run up to her to investigate. Remaining quiet Sprockets tail would be wooshing back and fourth quite quickly as he was very excited. When he'd reach Kaiyo all he'd do is sniff her ankles and when she walked to get the first aid kit he'd follow her curiously.
Following her to the couch Sprocket sat down and stared up at her. She was sitting at this point and he sat calmly by her feet with his tail still wagging away.
Noticing her beacon her over Athren then began to walk over to her slowly. In all honesty his body wasn't appreciating him right now. Every muscle ached and throbbed. Reaching her seat he looked around. He wasn't exactly too sure on where he should sit or what he should do so he simply would have waited for another signal. While he waited though he'd simply begin to answer her final question. His hand still firmly placed on his abdomen.
"Well... Long story short I found a Namek instead of the saiyan hunter. I heard that the warrior Nameks are capable of matching a saiyans strength." Athren paused for a moment as he winched lightly again. "We sparred and this is how I ended up. He isn't in perfect shape but I got it a lot worse. He actually slaughtered me out there." With what he just had said it was clear that he tried to salvage some of his pride. He paused again as he looked down to the ground. The realization wasn't exactly going over to well with him. He realized he wasn't as strong as he thought and wasn't nearly as indestructible as he had hoped to be and he was very grateful that it wasn't the hunter that he had matched up again. He strongly believed that if it was the saiyan hunter he wouldn't be alive right now."One hell of an eye opener.. That's for sure.. I think I needed this.." As he said that, a light tone of disappointment could be heard.
Sprocket then glanced up at Athren and reminded him to explain why the hell he was there.
"After I got my ass kicked I went to the same rooftop where I had met you. I'm sure you remember that one? It's got a scorched up dumpster..? Anyway.. Down in the alley below was him and his owner. Owner was about to beat Sprocket and I stepped in. I couldn't just leave him there so.. Here he is." Athren explained this in the shortest and easiest way possible.
After Athren had explained himself he awaited her reply, assuming she wouldn't take long he'd be ready to listen to her demands so she could touch up his wounds a little bit. Hopefully it wouldn't be too uncomfortable for him.
Now since he had been speaking about himself it was her turn. Obviously if she wanted to go into detail about his situation he'd continue to talk about it but right now she was on his mind. "And how's your day going so far? You look kind of tired. Another late night?" A late night for Kaiyo was a simple and safest guess that Athren had. If he was wrong, no harm done.

The dog had been following Kaiyo around the apartment as she had retrieved the first aid kit and was now sitting at her feet, wagging his tail and staring up at her. She looked up briefly into the critter’s face and cocked her head to the side. ”Err, hi there,“ she said awkwardly before returning to her digging. The teenager wasn’t really sure what to say to the little furball. It’s not that she disliked dogs or anything like that. She just wasn’t used to them. Her family never really had any pets since fur tended to be flammable.
Hearing his slow footsteps in her direction, Kaiyo motioned for Athren to take a seat on the couch where he normally slept. It was the only seat in the living room that was within arm’s reach of her at the moment. ”So, this was a different guy completely then?“ It sucked that he didn’t actually find his target. Still, if he got this messed up just sparring with some Namekian he ran across, it was probably a good thing he didn’t run into the Saiyan hunter. There was definitely some disappointment in his tone as he talked about it. Kaiyo couldn’t blame him either. She would probably be bummed out too if the same thing had happened to her. It was better than being dead though.
Deciding to explain why there was a small dog in the apartment, Athren brought up the dumpster she had set on fire the night they had first met. She still couldn’t believe that stupid stray had startled her so easily. Kaiyo had thought she had a better grip on her pyrokinesis than that. Oh well, at least she had gotten someone to talk to out of that fiasco. She would say that was a win. ”Ah, an abusive owner then. You plannin’ on keeping him?“ she asked, her face still buried in the first aid kit. ”If you are, I guess I don’t have a problem with it. You might want to keep a close eye on him with all of the fires starting around me. Anzu’s the one you gotta ask though. She’s the one that pays the bills.“
Kaiyo sighed as Athren asked about how her day had been so far. ”Yah, but not in the usual sense,“ she grumbled. ”I was just going to take my usual night time walk. My sister had other plans for me though. Apparently Anzu’s got today off for whatever reason. I guess something happened at her work? I dunno, but she grabbed me off of the street and we spent most of the night training. Then she just sort of ran off after that. Not really sure what her deal is today,“ the teenager said with another yawn. Her eyelids still felt a little heavy. At least she was a more awake than when she first walked in the door now that there was a task in front of her. Though, to be perfectly honest, she could treat most surface wounds in her sleep with how long she’s been doing it.
Kaiyo tapped on her chin as she finally looked up, reexamining Athren now that she wasn’t feeling quite as sleepy. He didn’t actually appear to have anything major wrong with him that she needed to address. His face looked kind of bruised up and there were a few tears in his jumpsuit, but the only sign of blood she saw was coming from his hand. Maybe the first aid kit had been unnecessary after all. Oh well, it was out anyway. She might as well have him take care of the minor stuff. ”So, is it just sore muscles or do you think something might be broken?“ she asked, handing him a tube of ointment and some bandages for his hand. Might as well make sure there wasn’t anything below the surface before she tossed the thing back in its proper place in the bathroom.

Being greeted Sprocket finally laid himself down by Kaiyo's feet. His waggling tail coming to a dead stop and his blue eyes up staring at her. He must have been sore from the night before because he wasn't running around like most puppies would be at the sight of somebody new. Eventually though Athren was positive that the cute little puppy was going to be a pain in the rear.
Slowly Athren planted himself down on the couch that she had gestured too. He couldn't help but arch a brow when he realized she was digging through the first aid kit. Really? Did he look that bad or was this girl just that caring and concerned? Regardless it was a very nice gesture on her part. "Completely different guy. He's a great fighter too. Once I'm feeling a little bit better I'm going to go see him again. I bought some training gear and I believe that if I sparred him again I'll just get stronger. I couldn't believe how much fun that fight was. It's been a long time since I've actually put that much effort into trying to get the upper hand and not getting taken out so quickly. Last time was with you and those saiyans but I do recall taking a hit for you that put me down and out. His names Ukare though. Just if you're curious and what not."
Now came the Sprocket talk. It was a really easy decision for Athren to bring him in. Anzu had did the same for him when he was at his worst and beat to a pulp so really Athren couldn't see the harm in having another small creature living there. Regardless he'd run it by Anzu anyway. "Well I don't have a choice but to keep him. He's already helped me out so much and it hasn't even been a full day yet. I'm not going to let the little guy suffer and be a stray. If he's not welcomed I'll be leaving with him. I think he needs me and quite frankly, I believe I need him." With that, Athren had smiled brightly. His eyes were locked onto his little friend for a moment or two. He then looked back at Kaiyo with a smile on his face. "As for Anzu, Does she normally do that or is it a completely odd occurrence?"
Finally came the question about his injuries and Athren couldn't help but let out a chuckle. A painful one at that. "Well. I'm just sore. I'm positive nothing is broken." With a slight gesture of his hand he flagged the first aid kit away. "I appreciate the help and all but I'm a saiyan. For almost twenty one years now I've been fighting and recovering on my own, only the odd time would I be tossed into a rejuvenation chamber. All these minor wounds will heal and I'll be good to go but thanks again."
Getting passed all of that Athren had one more little question for Kaiyo. Since he wanted to spend some time with her he couldn't help but ask it. "So, do you have any plans for the day? I wouldn't mind spending some time with you if that's cool. If you're busy though I guess I'll just push myself to train more.. Like usual." With that, he went quiet and awaited her response.

”Ukare, huh? Never heard of him,” Kaiyo said. She had never heard someone act so chipper after having their ass handed to them. Maybe it was a Saiyan thing. Oh well, at least it ended a lot better than if he had gotten them same result after finding his actual target. He probably wouldn’t have been sitting on that couch right now.
The Saiyan started talking about Sprocket again. It seemed kind of lame that he would be ready to leave for a pet he just picked up last night. It was his decision though. Again, Kaiyo never had one herself so she didn’t know what that kind of attachment felt like. ”Well, I can’t tell you one way or the other about what to expect out of An for that. Neither of us have ever had a pet before, so I don’t know her feelings about them. Ya never know though.”
Kaiyo put the ointment and bandages back in the first aid kit with a shrug of her shoulders, closing it up tight. If he didn’t want the help, she wasn’t going to force him. She would probably throw a ton of ‘I told you so’s at him if the cuts got infected anyway, but he was a grown man and could decide for himself. ”And no, normally she sticks to a schedule or at least gives me some warning first. It never starts as late as it did last night either,” the teenager stated before she disappeared into the bathroom again to deposit the first aid kit back in its rightful place. She didn’t sit back down on the chair upon returning to the living room though. Instead she walked behind it and leaned over the back of it.
”Huh?” She tilted head to the side at Athren’s next question. Did she hear him right? ”Spend time with me? Did you have something specific you wanted to do?” Kaiyo thought that all he cared about was training and getting stronger. At least, that was the impression he gave off the other day. Where was this coming from? ”I don’t mind, but first I’m gonna need some sleep unless you want me passing out in the middle of... whatever it is you wanted to go do,” she answered with another yawn.
Just then, the knob on the door started to jiggle before it swung open. Anzu walked into the apartment with a couple of grocery bags in her arms and a huge grin on her face. The staff that she used for training was slung across her back. Realizing that the living room was occupied when she expected it to be empty by the time she got home, the elder of the two siblings tossed a confused look at the both of them after setting her bags down on the counter. ”Kai? What are you still doing up? I thought you would have gone to bed by now,” she called out to her while placing the contents of the bags into the fridge. ”Better sleep while you can. I’ve got the next couple of days off, and there’s going to be another training session tonight even if I have to drag you out of bed for it. By the way, welcome back Athren. I heard that you took off yesterday.”
Kaiyo raised an eyebrow as she looked in the direction of the kitchen, her sister currently out of sight. ”Another one? You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Kaiyo grumbled, rubbing her eyes. ”What’s with all this free time you’ve got all of a sudden anyway? And why can’t you use it to go bother Ryosuke or somethin’?” ”I’m glad you asked. You see, I’m-” Anzu started to explain as she moved to join the two of them in the living room. However, she stopped mid-sentence when she noticed the sleeping puppy that was sitting on the floor. She stood there for a few seconds, just staring at Sprocket.
Finally, the dark haired woman broke her silence as another big grin spread over her face. She scooted across the living room and sat down on the floor next to him, but not touching him since he looked like he was fast asleep. It actually looked a lot like what a child might do when first realizing that they were in the same room as any sort of baby animal. ”D’awwwwwwww, who’s the cutie?” she squealed as she continued to stare at the small dog. Kaiyo’s eye twitched as she watched her sister’s behavior. While she had no idea how she was going to react, she definitely hadn’t expected that of all things.

The reason Athren was happy after his defeat was quite simple really. That little puppy had opened his heart and made him feel affection. It was an amazing feeling really, but that wasn't of importance right now. What was important was the fact that him and Kaiyo were together. "I figured you wouldn't. I'm sure you'll meet him eventually. After I feel better I'll probably go have another spar with him. I really need to prepare for that hunter. It's only a matter of time until him and I bump into each other and to be honest I don't think I'll be making it back here after that. If a random Namek I met on the street is more than capable of defeating me I have no doubt in my mind that the hunter can't do the same. Hell, I'll be lucky to make it to my twenty first birthday at this rate." Having sighed at the end of that sentence Athren shook his head lightly. He really didn't want to think about that too much as his birthday wasn't too far away and he wanted to see it come to pass.
Replying to the topic of Anzu's approval on the puppy Athren didn't really have too much to say there other than what he had already had. If she didn't approve of him then they'd both be going and if she did both of them would obviously be staying. "Well, I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'll ask her once she gets back or the next time I see her. As I said, If he goes I go. I couldn't let the helpless little guy roam the streets looking for scraps. I don't think anybody, human, alien or even dog deserve a life like that. So I'm going to give this guy a chance to live a good life if I can." With that Athren gave her a light smile, he was happy for this was the first time he had been responsible for someone other than himself and it did feel quite good. He couldn't get over the fact that how easy it was and how good it felt to care about other creatures. He didn't think it was possible but he believed he had found his purpose on this planet and it was to protect others, especially those that couldn't protect themselves. Though to do that Athren would have to stay alive a lot longer than his twenty first birthday.
Hearing the next words about Anzu had spiked Athren's curiosity. Maybe Anzu wasn't feeling good or maybe something had come up in her life to cause this sort of change but Athren couldn't help but hope that everything in her life was going alright. If he could help he would but until he knew the problem it was hopeless to even try, thats assuming that something was wrong. Maybe it was a simple lifestyle change? Who knew? Cause Athren sure to hell didn't. "Hopefully she's alright though and nothing has got her acting weird. That wouldn't be good." Athren then couldn't get his head around the next thing that Kaiyo had said.
She had let out a clueless "Huh" with the tilt of her head to add to it. He couldn't help but chuckle lightly. He listened closely to her words and she did in fact have a good and valid point about sleeping. Lots of fighters and this included Athren in his past would only train and work out constantly with zero to no rest. This could potentially do more harm than good as muscles wouldn't heal and grow. Though that mostly applied to body builders the same rules generally applied to gaining strength. Athren was just about to respond to her and he did have a couple of good ideas, or so he had though. He figured a walk on the beach would be a great one but if she wasn't into that than he most likely wouldn't say no to any of the options she may had fired back at him. "Well. If you need rest then maybe later we could take a late night walk on the beach or something? I really don't know what you're into. Other than beating up on people attacking me and setting things on fire anyways." Once again, Athren cracked a joke about that. He didn't mean no harm but it may have caused some. Hopefully not though. By this point Anzu had already entered the building and began doing what she was. "Anything really, As long as I'm by your side I'll be happy." Athren would have went on a little bit more but he was interrupted by the older of the two sisters. She had cut him off by calling out Kai.
Athren then stayed quiet until she had stopped with her talking. He didn't want to be rude in interrupt so that was more than likely the best way to go about it. When he had his chance to speak, he then opened his mouth and began making those sounds that end up becoming sensible words. "Yeah. There's a saiyan hunter on the loose. Figured I'd go find him and end it before any more of my race get slaughtered." He then paused for a moment, thinking about the whole situation. "Glad I didn't though. Found a Namek instead and well. As you can see that didn't go over well either."
Letting the two sisters talk Athren stayed out of the training bit. He was definitely amused by the interactions and it appealed to him that they were discussing training. If this saiyan hunter ever came looking for Athren it couldn't hurt that they trained especially if this hunter would slay anybody that gets in his path. Hopefully that wouldn't be the case though. Athren remained quiet up until Anzu had laid her eyes on the cute little guy that had been sleeping by the feet of Kaiyo. This was now as good as time as any to ask about him.
Raising his hand lightly Athren had a large smile on his face. His muscles ached as he did and he winched a light bit. It wasn't life or death pain and was easy enough to manage. "I'm right here Anzu." It seemed that having an open heart wasn't the only thing that Sprocket had brought into Athren's life. Apparently he brought him a very terrible sense of humour. It may have been lame but at least now it was likely Athren could take a joke without instantly putting his knuckles into the nose of the joker. Lowering his hand he finally answered her. "His name is Sprocket. Found his owner about to beat him with a bat at the same spot that I met your beautiful sister." Of course his eyes were locked onto Anzu at the moment so he couldn't see Kaiyo's reaction but really, he didn't even realize what he had said. Even if he did, he was much too happy to care. "I couldn't leave him all alone to fend for himself so here he is." Of course it was obvious enough to see in her reaction that she loved the little dog and it was probably going to be a yes if he could stay but Athren did feel it was a necessary thing to bring it up. "I'm hoping he could stay here with us. For as long as I do anyway. He's got nowhere or nobody and I couldn't let him live that life. He deserves a chance just like anybody else." With that, Athren went silent and awaited the answer from the eldest of the two sisters. His eyes now slowly gazed over to Kaiyo as he patiently waited for the interaction.

A late night stroll along the beach, huh? That didn’t sound so bad. Kaiyo liked visiting the beach, even if she preferred to go swimming while she was there. She occasionally popped over there to take a dip instead of wandering the city at night. Having nothing flammable anywhere around her was nice. Underwater, she could completely forget about all of the craziness that her pyrokinesis caused on a daily basis. Still, it sounded like a date. Were Saiyans even into that kind of thing?
Meanwhile, Anzu was happily fawning over the sleeping puppy on the floor. She looked blankly up at Athren for a few moments when he made his little joke before giving him a hearty laugh. ”Ahaha, no silly. I’m talking about the actual cutie lying here. Frankly, your face looks like it went a few rounds with a semi-truck,” she chuckled, returning the humor while pointing to Sprocket. All joking aside for the moment, Anzu picked herself up off the floor and moved to lean against the wall. ”That’s right. Kai mentioned something about a guy that was hunting Saiyans. I know Earth has had problems with them before, especially with the fiasco that happened at the last big televised tournament we had. Apparently a bunch of them went Oozaru and smashed up the surroundings pretty badly. Sounds like poor planning if you ask me, but I wonder if that has something to do with it,” she said, thinking out loud. Anzu made a mental note to see if she could look into that sometime in the next few days in between training sessions. If that was the case though, why was it just Saiyans? From the little she caught of said tournament’s broadcast, there were some pretty big issues with demons there as well.
The dark haired woman kept quiet as he moved on to explain why there was a border collie puppy in their two bedroom apartment. Though as he talked, one particular comment about her sister jumped out at her. Oh, so he thought of her that way, did he? Anzu was paying attention, but her eyes would shift between Kaiyo and Athren as he went on about it. Apparently Kaiyo had caught that little comment of his as well, as her eyes were a bit wide and she had her usual dumbfounded look on her face whenever that topic had come up. Her sibling appeared to be trying to ignore it though. She was always so awkward in the face of compliments that didn’t involve her capabilities as a fighter... A light bulb went off over Anzu’s head, but that could wait for a couple of minutes. For now she needed to get back to the subject at hand. ”Poor little guy,” she sighed once he had finished.
The older sister tapped her chin lightly as her gaze went back to Sprocket. The room was dead silent as she debated with herself on what to do. ”Well,” she finally spoke up after coming to a decision. ”I suppose you can keep him as long as you’re the one to take care of him. I can take care of actually buying the food and whatever else he might need, but you’re in charge of feeding him, walking him, making sure he doesn’t chew on anything he’s not supposed to, and everything in between. He’s still a little guy too, so he’s probably not house trained yet. That’s also something you’re going to have to work on,” she explained, turning to face Athren. It was clear from the tone of her voice that she wasn’t going to be budging at all on that. ”Also, keep in mind that we’ve got neighbors all around us. If he starts barking, you have to drop what you’re doing to keep him quiet. Capiche?”
Once she was finished laying down the rules, she turned her attention elsewhere. ”Now that that’s settled...” she began, looking over at Kaiyo with a mischievous grin. ”So Kai, did you... ahem... ‘patch Athren up’ when you got back?” It was obvious from her tone and the look on her face that she was implying something more than just tending to whatever injuries he had sustained from his fight with Ukare. ”Is that why you’re still awake?” Anzu was snickering and wiggling her eyebrows suggestively at the redhead. Oh, she was going to enjoy messing with her...
”Wh-what?!” the teenager blurted out. Now would have been the perfect time for a spit take had Kaiyo been holding a drink. Instead, her cheeks flushed and she stared at Anzu with wide eyes. If looks could kill, the elder of the two Habane sisters would have been pushing up daisies right about now. ”What the hell are you on about, An?! Stop being stupid,” Kaiyo growled. She grabbed one of the many empty fire extinguishers that had been piled up behind the chair and threw it at Anzu’s face, which her sister expertly caught and tossed aside.
Kaiyo grumbled a few obscenities under her breath before changing the subject. ”ANYWAY! What were you saying about all of that free time you’ve suddenly got?” Anzu finally stifled her laughing, which had only grown louder at Kaiyo’s reaction to her playful taunting. ”Ah, yes. You happen to be looking at the new manager of the department. The higher ups decided to give me a few days of paid vacation as a bit of a bonus,” she declared, puffing out her chest triumphantly. The redhead nodded, her face clearing up now that Anzu was done with her remarks. So it was a promotion, huh? That definitely explained things...

In Athren's head the whole beach thing wasn't a date. It was simply spending time with her with just the two of them. Of course Athren didn't actually know what a date was other than one of those numbers on the calender but in the human book of "dating" it could definitely fit in with the description. If she had thought it was a date then it might as well be but regardless of what it was it wouldn't exactly have been anything until she said yes, but that's only assuming that she would and at this point it appeared that Athren's offer was just water under the bridge now. Too much has been said and it had seemed to be forgotten. Effort one, completely wasted but he was almost positive that he wouldn't give up trying to spend some time with her. If he gave up it would be due to one of two reasons. The first reason would be quite simple. She either tell him to back off and she's not interested and number two she bring some other clown home. Either way, those would be the only two things to make him quit.
Athren couldn't help but let out a painful chuckle. He didn't exactly look at a mirror lately nor did his current appearance matter. He was sore and he didn't feel great and that's what mattered. Even though she had a very valid point he couldn't just let it go, he had to make a point and say something of it. "At least I would have beat the Semi-Truck, Hell. I wish one would have ran into me instead of this. Would have saved me the trouble of getting my ass kicked and salvaged some of my pride. Oh well. Can't win them all. Right?" His eyes on Anzu, she had begun to speak of the events that happened at the tournament, Oozaru's terrorizing Earth? It just didn't make sense and where the hell was Athren for that? He didn't hear a damn word about it. "Oozaru's attacked the Earth? Doesn't look that way. Should be a lot more damage done. Any idea what their motive was? Or did they just get pissed off cause they lost the tournament? We saiyan's have a temper when we don't get what we want." Remembering that he didn't, Athren couldn't help but note that in the last few words that he had. "Well. Most of us anyway."
Anyhow, It was now time to listen to the answer regarding Athren's small furry friend whom had made a massive impact on his life. Hopefully all would go as planned and he'd be more than welcomed to stay though if it didn't I guess Athren wouldn't have much else of a choice other than going to look for some kind of other shelter. Though, he was about to hear the answer so he didn't have to think of that yet. Getting a huge smile on his face after hearing her answer Athren couldn't help but reply in a grateful tone of voice. "Got it. How much trouble can one little puppy cause? I'm sure I can handle it. As for drop everything and attend to him. Simple. Thank you Anzu." With that, Athren went quiet. It wasn't necessary to say anything more than that because he had got the point across. He said he'd do it and even said a thank you. That was that.
What came next was completely unexpected and random. Did Anzu just hint at sexual behaviour going on between himself and Kaiyo? Athren's face went kind of blank and he didn't have a single word to say, sure he had a MASSIVE crush on Kaiyo but that was pushing it by a lot. Athren simply bit his lip in an awkward fashion to refrain from saying anything stupid and adding fuel to this fire. ~ Uh. The hell do I say to that? Or should I say anything to that? What the hell Anzu. NOT COOL. You know what Athren. Keep your mouth shut, just stay silent and it'll all be over soon. Say something and you'll probably look like a tool. YES. KEEP QUIET. ~ Athren's thinking couldn't have been any better of an idea. ~Shut up, it'll be over soon.~ So that's exactly what he would have done. Mind you, He couldn't help but have a red face after it was all said.
Luckily, Kaiyo had something in mind. Watching as the fire extinguisher had flown across the room and towards Anzu was more than enough to distract Athren's brain from the awkwardness that had surrounded them. Thankfully somebody had a way to change the topic. Anyway, Athren then learned that Anzu had got a promotion. That was a good thing. He had expected something wrong was in her life causing her to act weird but instead it was the complete opposite of that. Really that was somewhat enlightening. At least he didn't have to worry about trying to help her out for the time being.
Decided to comment on that Athren finally released this lip from the grasp of his bite. "So, You got a promotion? That's good." Making that statement he then paused. "So, What are we all doing tonight to celebrate? There's got to be something we can do. Right?" With that, Athren went quiet again and awaited the remarks of the two sisters.

Anzu shook her head as she recalled what she had seen on the news about what had happened that night. ”Oh, the incident I’m talking about happened a while before you showed up. There was some big tournament that went on in the Tenka'ichi Budōkai Grounds to the South. Neither of us were there, but from what I here there was some big fight that broke out outside of the arena that caused a bunch of destruction to the surrounding area. And then, to make matters worse, we had Oozaru added to the mix. I have no idea whose bright idea it was to host the tournament so close to the full moon when everyone KNEW that there were a bunch of Saiyans participating, but that’s what ended up happening,” the dark haired woman explained. ”I don’t think there was any motive behind the attack, but as I said, I wasn’t there. Either way, there were plenty of non-Saiyan fighters that I’m sure helped contain the chaos.”
Athren was smiling from ear to ear when heard her decision on Sprocket. Judging by his answer, she wasn’t really sure if he knew exactly what he was getting himself into. Oh well, it was his dog. ”Hmhmhm... It’s easy to say that now. Just make sure you keep that enthusiasm of yours up. Dogs are a lot more work than they look, especially when they’re still puppies.” Anzu had never actually owned a dog herself, despite how much she liked them. However, she knew that that could be quite the handful. Taking care of one was going to put a serious dent in Athren’s training schedule with the walks, playing, feeding, and making sure he wasn’t getting into anything he wasn’t supposed to. As long as he was positive he could handle it, the elder of the two sisters didn’t see any reason why Sprocket couldn’t stay. Luckily, their landlord was an old friend of hers. He wouldn’t have any problems with it either as long as the little guy didn’t bother any of the other tenants.
From across the room, Kaiyo was still shooting Anzu a death glare for her earlier comment. It was obvious that the teenager wasn’t happy with her sibling at all. Seriously though, could you blame her? Why the hell did Anzu have to be so stupid sometimes?! She had pulled the same crap when Kaiyo was in high school whenever she had spotted her together with Itsuki. Look at how well that turned out... The younger of the two would have thought that that had been enough to make her lay off with those stupid comments of hers. Apparently not... It’s not even like she was hooked up with the guy or anything!
Anzu smiled at Kaiyo, still amused at how riled up she had gotten her. Her teasing had affected Athren as well it seemed. He, however, had decided to stay quiet about it. The looks on both of their faces had been priceless. If she had known that those kind of comments were going to stir up such reactions in the two of them, she would have started poking fun at the way earlier. Oh well, it was time for a subject change. ”Training,” Anzu answered with a grin. ”Like I said, Kaiyo and I are having another session of it tonight. We might have a more fitting celebration sometime before I go back to work, but it’s not going to be happening today.”
”You know, I love the fact that I don’t get any say in this,” Kaiyo piped up sarcastically. She didn’t mind their training sessions together. They allowed her to test her skills in an attempt to beat her sibling senseless. It was just frustrating to have all of this sprung on her at once. It didn’t help that she had kind of already made plans for the night. Even if she tried to argue about it, it wouldn’t deter Anzu. That was just how it worked in the Habane family. The mentor decided when to train. The student went along with it. Besides, Kaiyo would never live it down if she said she was skipping out on one of their sessions to go hang out with Athren. Oh, how the annoying comments would fly...
”Excellent! That means you won’t be complaining then,” Anzu said cheerfully, ignoring Kaiyo’s sarcasm all together. This earned another groan from the redhead. ”Now, I suggest you go get some sleep. We have a long night ahead of us, Kai. You better be ready when it’s time to get things started.” Kaiyo sighed and walked towards her bedroom door. However, she then turned back to Athren and shrugged her shoulders. ”I’m gonna have to take a raincheck on that idea of yours. Sorry to say, but I don’t got much of a choice,” she grumbled before disappearing inside.
Once Kaiyo had left the room, Anzu turned to Athren. She was tempted to tease him a little bit more, but she decided to hold off on it. It wouldn’t be nearly as fun if her sister wasn’t involved. Besides, she didn’t want to scare the guy away. ”You’re welcome to join us later this evening if you wish, but it’s just going to be some one on one training between me and her. My only rule about that is that you aren’t to interfere if you decide to tag along.”

Athren listened very carefully to Anzu as she spoke about what had happened at the tournament. It really didn't make sense for that to happen. The only likely scenario that Athren could think of was that they were all being controlled by the primitive minds of the Oozaru transformations. Even then, Why the hell would they have been out in such conditions. He got a light chuckle out of he statement though, Non-saiyan fighters containing that? Pfft. That was a very unlikely scenario. "People containing that? I really don't believe that. Hell I can't even control my own Oozaru transformation yet alone somebody elses and so far I'm far above most of this planets fighters. I really can't see that happening." Really, if it did happen Athren really would have had his mind blown because so far the snake lady he had met when he first landed was the strongest he had seen here without transformation and she was only at roughly fifteen thousand at the time. Ukare was above that with a transformation but that still wouldn't have been enough to deal with a single Oozaru. It really didn't add up. Regardless, It had been time to move on with the discussion and get off of this topic.
It seemed as if Sprocket had been a hot topic of the night. Athren was sure he wouldn't have any troubles with the small little furry creature that he had brought into the tiny little apartment. He of course had a response to her words. "It can't be that hard. I mean look at him. He doesn't seem to be a big people person. So far if he's entertained by something he doesn't want to touch anything else and he hasn't ONCE made a mess of this place. I get the fact that it's only been a day, if that but he's been quiet. No biting or chew on things and yeah. I think he's a smart one. Maybe he learned his lesson from that abusive owner. If he turns out to be a trouble maker I'm sure I can handle it. He can't make more of a mess than I can, Right?" In all honesty it had been true what Anzu had said. Athren had NO idea what he was getting himself into but as long as he believed he could handle it things would turn out fine. At the end of his words he had to ask the question just for reassurance purposes. If she had agreed with him things would be much more than okay and if she hadn't well... he might end up getting just a wee LITTLE bit nervous. During that light bit of conversation he had found himself playing with one of his new heavy weights he had purchased. Just itching at it due to a slight discomfort it had brought him at the moment. Sure enough, that feeling would have to go away. Right?
Really the next bit of the conversation didn't have anything to do with Athren. He didn't have much of a choice but look back and fourth between the two as they had been exchanging words about their upcoming training session that would take place later that night. It did amuse Athren how they bickered lightly and how Kaiyo had the attitude issues but if Athren was in that situation he'd probably be no different. In fact, He'd probably be a lot crankier than Kaiyo had been.
Athren had now watched Kaiyo begin to head to her bedroom door. Anzu did have a very valid point about resting up for the training that was coming up quickly and it sounded like they were going to be doing it regardless of how many hours of sleep Kaiyo had managed to rack in. Anzu seemed like she'd be a good teacher and she almost reminded Athren of his former mentor Willow. Willow was a hell of a lot louder and crankier than Anzu but her race explained that part. When she reached her door she had spoken to him and he watched as she shrugged her shoulders. He gave her a light smile as his ocean blue eyes glimmered lightly in the artificial light coming from the bulbed room. "Goodnight. Get some rest. We've got lots of time for us so don't apologize. Training comes first. I get that." Saying that Athren had been soft toned and kind of sweet about it. Hopefully it wasn't too much but this kind of tone had just been natural now. It wasn't like he had to put any effort into it because THAT one girl had given him a warm feeling. Almost like Sprocket had but better. Athren had no idea what it was but he sure did like that girl and he'd probably never wrap his head around the situation either. Oh well, would could a man do?
Athren had then turned his attention back to Anzu as she had been inviting him to tag along during their nightly training events. It wasn't like he'd have anything better to do so he figured he'd tag along. "Yeah! Sure. I appreciate the invite." He said in a grateful tone of voice as his eyes had attempted to meet Anzu's. "I'll bring Sprocket and just play with him I guess. I'll stay quiet too if I can." After explaining what he'd be doing Athren kind of got a thought to his head, it was awkward but he wasn't exactly one afraid to ask a question.
Before Anzu would even have time to reply to him stating that he would be joining the two Athren mumbled something. It wouldn't be very clear but.. it could still be understood. "Sooo... Ummmmmm." At this point he couldn't help but have his cheeks turn to a light shade of red and a HUGE ear to ear smile back on his face. Similar to the one he had on his face when she said Sprocket could stay. "Do you think that..." After saying those words he glanced over to the door of Kaiyo's bedroom. He kind of said this loud enough for Kaiyo to here if she had still been awake but that was just his stupidity. He was kind of excited about the idea. "Her and I could ever be a thing? Or am I just stupid for thinking so?" With that he looked back to Anzu, This time he innocently and awkwardly scratched the back of his head with his right hand.

”I suppose there’s always the possibility that you managed to find the one puppy in the world that isn’t a hassle to take care of. However, just becase he isn’t active now doesn’t mean he isn’t going to be a bundle of mischief tomorrow. He’s just been moved to a new home, so he’s probably exhausted from all of the new things that he’s had to take in so far. Once he’s gotten more used to this place, he’ll probably be bouncing off the walls and chewing on everything he can sink his teeth into. We’ll see though,” Anzu explained, her eyes still locked on Sprocket. Athren sounded like he was still holding out hope that the little guy would be a breeze to take care of. While there was a slight chance he could have been right about it, Anzu certainly had her doubts. Oh well... Only time would give them that answer. Anzu eyed Athren curiously as he said goodnight to sister. The dark haired woman didn’t know what it is that they were talking about. Though, there was something in his tone that told her enough, even if he hadn’t let the ‘beautiful’ remark slip out a minute ago. Maybe inviting him to stay with them would be doing more for her sister than she first thought. Whether or not that ‘more’ was good or bad, it was hard to say at the moment. Things sounded like they would be getting interesting between those two either way. Before she could say anything about him accepting her invitation to their training session, Athren got really quiet and started mumbling something. His face flushed to a deep shade of red that would have put Kaiyo’s hair to shame. Anzu stared at him with a raised brow as he actually came right out and asked about the chances of him hooking up with her sister. Well... that was certainly forward of him. Sure, he had showed hints of having those feelings for her. She didn’t think he was actively thinking about hooking up with her though. It was a good thing he had come to her first. ”Hmm...” Anzu carefully looked Athren over as she thought about what he had just asked. He definitely wasn’t the type of guy she herself would be interested in, which already meant he had a shot. Still, there wouldn’t be anything happening overnight, if at all. ”If you’re interested in her, I’d say you have a chance.” Her voice was quiet on the off chance that Kaiyo wasn’t fully asleep yet. ”You’re going to want to hold off on being straightforward about this with her though, at least for now. She doesn’t really have a good history with that kind of thing, so if she knows right away that that’s what you’re going for, you might end up pushing her away. Just keep talking to her and spending time with her like you have been for the time being.” The Saiyan would have easily been able to tell by her tone of voice that she was being serious. She didn’t sound at all like she had been when she was teasing the two of them a bit ago. ”On top of that, I might have a bit of a tip for you. Kai doesn’t partake in them all that often, but she’s got a massive sweet tooth. That might be something to keep in mind if you really want her to melt for you.” The elder of the two Habane sisters gave the man a wink before she headed for the front door. It may have been odd to hear this coming from Kaiyo’s older sister, but Anzu definitely had her reasons. ”I’m going to head off to the pet store to pick up some essentials for out new housemate. I shouldn’t be gone for long,” the woman called back to Athren in a chipper tone. Though, before she left, she had one more thing to add. ”I wouldn’t worry about staying quiet tonight. If either one of us couldn’t focus on training just because of a little noise, then I’d be a failure of a teacher. You’ll just want to keep a close eye on Sprocket so that he doesn’t get in the way.” With that, Anzu was out the door and on her way back to the shopping district. She had some things to think about while she was out. ~~~Thread Complete~~~
