From the depths of space, a broadcast echoes.
Footage of Arcose, fire and steel raining from the sky. A group of Oozaru incinerating several alien troops, then a True Form commander being pulled in two by a duo of apes, purple blood spilling, before these halves are chewed and swallowed.
Then, a cut to the aftermath; a smokey, ashed city in ruins, and a great tree groaning with growth.
And then, cut to the present.
Zucceta sits casually on her commander's seat aboard the Imperator, her golden hair an erect peak of luminescent power, her feet resting on the back of a Brenchian, who was quiverring with fear. Her arms rest on the chair, and underneath her metallic fingers was the still-composed head of the Empress, Wyntre.
"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!
"I, Zucceta, Lady Death, Queen of Vegeta and Empress of the rapidly-expanding Solar Empire, have decided to express my disappointment in the ease of Arcose's fall! I could have secured victory by my lonesome.
"The resistance of this 'mighty empire'... well, after Wyntre, the strongest warriors were crushed by my scientific advisor and only ONE of my many Super Saiyans! Pah!"
She spits onto the Brenchian's head, the green-skinned warrior recoiling slightly, before immediately rectifying himself. The eyes might be drawn to the conspicuous droplets of blood splattering the floor of the command center; her previous footstools.
"The homeworld of the Arcosians, our oldest living enemy, is dead. My newest weapon drained it of all life and poisoned its atmosphere. Soon it will be but arid sand and ice, blowing through the universe. The Arcosians will never again dominate this galaxy.
The Age of Super Saiyans has well and truly begun."
Lady Death pauses, pursing her lips, before standing up, kicking the 'foot stool' away, still carrying the head of Wyntre Kold.
"I will give the remaining, non-SSE denizens of this galaxy one final opportunity; surrender and join my empire, peacefully, or else history will run red with the blood of your friends."
"The remaining splinters of Arcose; that blue jewel which humiliated me so; and others. You have a week to comply."
She grins, before stroking the dead Arcosian's head with her remaining, organic hand.
"Good chat, all. See you later!"
The transmission fades to static.

Post by Mimikku on Aug 31, 2015 18:42:16 GMT
Mimikku was sitting nursing her injured leg within a bath of salted water and specially designed extract of a senzu bean when her small radio broke the midst of a song she was enjoying with an announcement from the Queen of the Solar Empire. Listening to her words Mimikku felt a sickening feeling well up within her gut. It slowly filled her and her goddess with disgust as it brought up a saying within Earth Culture at the moment that fit perfectly. “Absolute Power corrupts absolutely.” Standing she looked down at her leg as she looked at the scar on her leg that had little time to heal. :: This is going to have to do… I am going to need to train myself more and more. We will need everyone to go after this Queen and her insanity that will no doubt enclose our homeworld in her madness just as I thought it would. Me and Emer need to begin training now. We need to get strong as we have been in the past and even farther to catch up to and stand before her. You most certainly do Mimi. Do everything that you can think of to try and get stronger as fast as possibly can. ::
Flexing her leg one final time the Kagami turned off the radio and turned to pull the armor back onto herself. Piece by piece she girded herself back up for war which was coming. If those who claimed to defend the earth would stand with her she did not know but she knew full well that she was going to stand before all of this and she was going to train and become stronger to defend this planet and then was going to reclaim her homeworld. This was no longer a shade in the distance this had to be a crystal clear goal of hers.

The lab was being prepared for something big when he heard the call. Various arcosian tech and newly made parts from schematics laying out upon tables and various surgical equipment. He caught it all appearing before him as if a screen appeared before his eyes. His programs causing the illusion so it was more easy to view the incoming received data. His hands clasping behind him at this declarations of... Forced unity. The Empress's head as well making a nice little touch for power. Icarus took a few moments to collect his thoughts after this had cleared and the message had passed. So she was traveling to earth possibly. A planet of interest but not one Icarus had seen as of yet with his own mechanical eyes.
It seemed all points of interested the scientists dreamed to see and explore were slowly or possibly already were targets for this empire. Icarus feeling a slight shiver of worry at this. Given how the handling of the arcosian prisoners were handled he wondered heavily on the people of the next planet to stand before them. The galaxy could be full of Other Taiga's. People who would rather stand and die then actually flee and the more that stood meant killing would only bring more fire of war then smother the flames of their adversaries. Icarus quickly felt great worry at this... If the empress's death wasn't enough to quell resistance to this plan. He had full belief she'd hold to her word for blood to pour into the streets. She was cunning and ruthless as she was beautiful. He had to hand it to her for her ambition but so soon after bloody conflict back to another? One week... This would surely push most major opposing governments, Monarchs, and leaderships into chaos. You don't push a dog into a corner then chastise while getting it to try and heel. Doing so only asks for it to bite the hand of its attempted master.
He'd let out a heavy sigh realizing he had little time to waste. He had to get to work soon and finish this task. He figured he'd be secluded in his lab for some time now. More preparation and more calculations then he cared to consider needed done. He had boon to ask of as well as now questions to follow for his queen. His eyes drifting to a shadow of a body not far off in a nearby tank still being constructed. He'd tried considering countermeasures long ago should things like this go bad. Kai's be damned though she wasn't gonna be happy till she had it all.... The Arcosians had it all once. No empire lasts for ever when wanting to stand the tallest with might. This book would likely not have the ending they all desired.

Post by Queen Habana on Aug 31, 2015 19:01:06 GMT
Habana and Jala sat in the now quite a bit more clean living room, Jala relaxing in -her- chair while Habana lay sprawled out on the couch, her head dangling over the side as she and her mother watched a movie, not particularly long ago they had been sparring with one another in a match that had lasted nearly a whole half hour worth of back and forth action between them, the battle was swiftly followed by a small feast as Habana and Jala devoured everything inside the fridge in an effort to rebuild some of the lost energy, once the food was sufficiently devoured they had retired to the living room in order to relax, both women had fallen asleep after so much action and only awoken roughly an hour ago.
Rather suddenly the movie they were watching was cut off, a brief display of an apology for the halt in service due to an incoming Royal message to the entire empire, after the message was displayed the broadcast began. Jala and Habana watched the sight of the 'war' on Arcose though the grim depiction via the broadcast really painted it far more as a massacre, the scene then shifted there was no more battle, no more Oozaru warriors stomping the cities and landscape, only smokey ruins and an enormous tree, the tree itself seemed to be the only part of the planet that even looked 'alive' anymore, the ground was cracked and devoid of any life, even the sky seemed a bit more bleak, and yet the tree stood tall and strong as if it had leeched all the life from the planet itself.
Before Habana could contemplate the strange scene any longer the scene cut again to the command center of the Imperator the flagship of the SSE, Habana had seen it but once since leaving prison and even then it had been from afar, the ship was a magnificent sight and the inside was no less spectacular. Sitting in the commanding seat was a woman, not much older than Habana her hair lit up like a golden fire and her feet pripped comfortable upon the back of a brenchaian, Habana narrowed her eyes as she inspected the woman trying to figure out why the person who was clearly the new Queen that her mother had mentioned felt so very familiar looking to her.
The woman, almost certainly the Queen, began to speak, and hearing the voice of the woman and then having her announce her name confirmed what Habana had been trying to puzzle out, she DID know this woman, Zucceta had been... was? A friend of hers, they had met briefly during training and then reunited in perhaps the most unlikely of places, prison. Habana had always liked Zucceta, they had a similar sort of aggressive personality and the younger Zucceta always seemed to have little interest in the fact that Habana was a hybrid.
Habana continued to stare dumbfounded as her old friend declared her ultimatum to the rest of the universe, they would need to stand with the Empire or be considered to stand against it and thus need to face the perils that would befall any who stood against them, the same sort of peril that Arcose and it's mightiest warriors had been made to face. Habana was completely floored by everything about this situation not entirely sure what to think being caught off guard on two ends, the new stance of the empire was not perhaps the most unexpected thing to occur but for it to happen so suddenly was certainly surprising, more surprising of course was the revelation that her old cell mate and friend was QUEEN OF THE SAIYANS and on top of that she was a Super Saiyan too. Zucceta had always been strong, the woman was a natural born leader and perhaps it was not THAT surprising that she of all people had taken the throne especially if she commanded the legendary power of a super saiyan.
Running a hand through her hair Habana wondered how badly this message would go over with the rest of the universe, the majority of the Empire itself would likely not take it particularly poorly, they were already apart of the Empire and thus had little to fear from Zucceta, all they would have to feat was another war, a war with the rest of the entire universe. But the empire's primary fighting force was of course built out of the saiyan population of Vegeta, and there was little a saiyan enjoyed more than a good battle and war was simply a long, grand scale, battle.

Post by Emer on Aug 31, 2015 21:37:32 GMT
Emer had been standing there next to Mimikku when the Broadcast started. The two Kagami within the cave had been calming down after their last fiasco. The queen Zucceta, or the Lady of death as she was self proclaiming began to speak on the Radio. Talking about how the queen named Wyntre had been defeated by her hands, and that the entire Arcose world, had fallen to her by her hand alone. The tall Kagami let a small smirk cross his face, Emer remembered bumping into Wyntre, when she had first came to his house in the desert. At the time, she had claimed she was the strongest in the universe, at that point she was humiliated by the giant Kagami. Irith within his head began to speak. 'Well Emer, it seems the time you've planned to get stronger, will be cut short due to this lovely broadcast no?'
Emer shook his head slightly as he replied to her. 'No, this is actually a good incentive for me, it'll make me stop being so lazy, I'm going to need to make sure, that I'm able to survive whatever onslaught is coming out way. Mimikku warned me, that there was several of these Golden hair warriors. But, if they're coming to earth, then there's no reason the defenders of earth won't be able to step up, and help over throw this self proclaimed lady of death.' The Kagami looked over at Mimikku who was nearly finished getting dressed, he hadn't even bothered to look at her until now. Especially after the events of yesterday, man she had pissed him off. One final chuckle came from the Kagami as he started to walk away. "Very well, Lady of Death, I'll meet ya when you come to earth... Would of been nicer, to fight you when I was at my best, but I'll just have to reach that destination again."

Val himself had been called when the broadcast had been picked up by the patched together transceiver in the town hall. Crossing arms over broad chest, the old Saiyan grunted in a lack of amusement. Fingers scratching at a graying beard in thought. "Well. We're boned." He grunted, lips twisting in a foul sneer. So this was what his race had devolved into after his little vanishing act so long ago.
"What are the chances the Saiyans are even interested in Earth?" Serena asked, arm looping through her husbands; tugging him down to distract the gloom that had settled over usually jovial face. "There's plenty of warriors here far stronger then me. She'll hit this world the moment any scouter reads a Power Level worth the effort. And plenty of them are."
"Any ideas?" Icy optics looked the aging warrior over; everyone in town knew Val had never been an Elite Saiyan. Barely passing into the Lower Class back when he'd been born. He himself was the first to admit he wasn't worth the dirt on the Queen's boot; so he turned away and started the trek back to the forest.
"I train. And hope we can all last long enough to find a home far away from here."

Post by Natto on Aug 31, 2015 23:05:34 GMT
Natto was in the middle of his training on his own gravity chamber, facing an impressive gravity of over a hundred times the normal gravity, when his scouter beeped with the message. He went for the scouter and listened and watched the whole transmission from the queen. He didn’t know exactly how he was feeling. Part of the saiyan was glad they defeated their greatest enemy of all time, and he knew they deserved every bad thing that fell upon them, but, somehow, the method felt… Wrong? Poisoning the atmosphere? Destroying the whole planet? The young saiyan didn’t like that at all, but he wouldn’t go against his queen, he was a loyal subject of the Saiyan Solar Empire, so he just gulped and took off his scouter, sighing.
The unease did leave his heart restless. To threat the whole universe? It would probably led to unending war and Natto wasn’t sure it was the best thing to do now, as there were still quite a lot of powerful creatures who could pose a challenge to the saiyan empire, like Virtual Poi and Reikiko, if she chose to go against the queen’s wishes. Anyway, she would arrive soon, and he would ask for an audience with her. He had to express his fears and thoughts, and he was hoping that she would be wise enough to put them into consideration.
Now all he could do was to wait for her arrival. Word Count: 241 [Zeni]

Post by Xanthon on Sept 1, 2015 1:27:01 GMT
Xanthon strolled through one of the many cities that inhabited the earth, a bag of water tucked tightly under his right arm. He was on another water visit, the only times he ever visited any of the cities or villages that were on this planet. As he was just about to take flight, a giant TV on a building that usually spat uninteresting blabber seemed to abruptly change into a broadcast, one that the ears of the namekian quickly caught. The namekian would stop and take a moment to stare and listen at the large monitor.
The first images were brutal slayings of giant monkeys, ripping apart what looked like acrosians, a race that Xanthon had just recently found out about. Shortly after the scene changed to that of a giant tree, the region around it looking like it was dying or already dead. That scene didn’t last long either as it quickly changed yet again to what looked like a female saiyan sitting on a throne like chair, the head of an acrosian resting under one of her hands. Heh…Nice decoration The namekian thought to himself as he continued to watch the large screen broadcast. Acting as a ‘stool’ was a creature Xanthon was not familiar with, but whatever it was seemed vastly frightened. As the saiyan began to speak, the namekian would listen carefully.
"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!"
"I, Zucceta, Lady Death, Queen of Vegeta and Empress of the rapidly-expanding Solar Empire, have decided to express my disappointment in the ease of Arcose's fall! I could have secured victory by my lonesome.”
"The resistance of this 'mighty empire'... well, after Wyntre, the strongest warriors were crushed by my scientific advisor and only ONE of my many Super Saiyans! Pah!"
Heh…saiyan pride at it’s finest…but impressive nonetheless to sack entire worlds with just an advisor and a ‘super saiyan’, whatever that is. The namekian carried on with his attention to the huge screen, watching the golden haired female saiyan spit on the green-skinned foot stool, drops of blood being seen laid across the area of the lady’s throne. To have the power of fright to cause such a being to be nothing more than a futile object is quite something…just who is this woman?
"The homeworld of the Arcosians, our oldest living enemy, is dead. My newest weapon drained it of all life and poisoned its atmosphere. Soon it will be but arid sand and ice, blowing through the universe. The Arcosians will never again dominate this galaxy.”
”The Age of Super Saiyans has well and truly begun."
There it is again…Super saiyans…what power they must have to destroy an entire civilization...and that ‘weapon’...the tree...to destroy an entire planet with just a grown seedling…How much power did these super saiyans hold? The namekian continued to watch the Queen as she stood up and kicked the worthless worm serving as her footrest out of the way, she would speak once more.
"I will give the remaining, non-SSE denizens of this galaxy one final opportunity; surrender and join my empire, peacefully, or else history will run red with the blood of your friends."
"The remaining splinters of Arcose; that blue jewel which humiliated me so; and others. You have a week to comply." Grinning before stroking the acrosian’s head she would finish her broadcast. “Good chat, all. See you later!”
As the broadcast remained staticy for a few seconds before cutting back to what was originally playing on the large screen, the namekian was left alone with his thoughts about what just transpired. One week to bow down before her? This namekian did not bow to anyone. He would die before he trembled at such power, even if it was so great, he would not be reduced to a footstool. The fact still remained however…whomever this Queen was had to harness a grand power, one that intrigued the namekian quite a bit. Of course...he cared nothing for this planet and he had no friends nor allies in which he associated with, so that threat meant less to him than the life of that green-skinned alien. As a purple aura ignited around the tall namekian, he would think to himself. In one weeks time eh….I’ll make sure I’m ready by then. I hope that she covey’s her presence upon this desolate soil so that I may get to know her on a more…closer presence. Xanthon would then take off into the sky and rocket out of the city, his destination: A desolate wasteland, devoid of any nuisances. His goal: Preparation for the incoming presence and potential battle that may shake this world to its core.

Post by Articho Reville on Sept 1, 2015 23:25:04 GMT
Articho was outside of his home, standing on his hands with his feet high in the air. His elbows were rapidly bending and extending as he did the altered push ups, but he didn't feel tired at all. There wasn't any sweat dripping from his face or pooling on the ground. It had simply become too easy for him, even with his weighted clothing on. He needed to move onto something new. He recalled that Gleciar had won a spaceship with a gravity chamber in the upper branch of that tournament they were in a while back. He would need to find it and take advantage of the chamber. He wouldn't get much better otherwise.
"Articho," his mother called to him from the door to their home. The hybrid looked at her. She looked scared and she was gesturing for him to follow her inside wildly. Worry quickly sprouted in his chest. His mother never got scared, unless she or Articho were in direct danger. He lowered his legs and stood up straight before following her inside. Yoguri didn't say anything, just simply pointing to the TV. He followed her finger to see a woman on screen. Her hair was golden and spiked up and an Arcosian's head was in her hands. Articho clenched his fists tightly as he watched the broadcast. There was silence in the air after it had ended. Yoguri studied her son worriedly.
"Articho..." she said before he sharply turned and made for the door.
"Can't I get one fucking day of peace?!" he shouted in pure rage as he slammed his foot into the door. The wood splintered and blew apart from the force, leaving just a doorway in his wake. He heard his mother running after him, calling for him to calm down. He would eventually, but right now he needed some time alone. He quickly took off into the sky as his mother continued to shout is name. The hybrid was certain he would get in trouble for destroying their door. He didn't really care, though. He had bigger problems to deal with.

Post by Hyoza on Sept 3, 2015 5:34:12 GMT
The light of the computer display flickered across the walls of the cavern as Hyoza sat cross-legged atop his rock, tail coiling tighter about himself as he eagerly flicked through the news feeds. The political stage of the galaxy was undergoing major upheavals, and in such times many displaced soldiers could be bought into his crew, many worlds could be plundered without fear of reprisal, and best of all; many leaders would be seeking mercenaries to bolster their forces in such troubled times. He absorbed information from the headlines, picking and choosing those which grabbed his interest. Civil unrest, toppled governments and worlds ruined by war - to many this might have been a source of unease or sadness - but to the would-be pirate captain, they were opportunities. It was a good time to be a mercenary. Refreshing the list, the red pinpricks of his eyes flicked to a new item, rapidly gaining views and marked as majorly significant. His fingertip brushed the surface of the screen, and the display shifted, bringing an image to the fore. Ships fell from a curiously familiar sky as the lights of fires pulsated below, pillars of smoke beginning to rise into the atmosphere. Hyoza's eyes narrowed as the scene changed, and suddenly the unmistakable forms of Saiyan Great Apes dominated the image. They obliterated squadrons of troopers with ease; and thanks to fleeting glimpses of the surrounding buildings, it began to dawn on Hyoza what was happening. And yet, as he watched the messy demise of one of his own kind he felt no revulsion, no anger, only intrigue. He wondered if his suspicions were true. The next image confirmed, as the ashen ruin of the Arcosian Capital lay collapsing into rubble at the feet of some vast tree. Hyoza's eyes widened as he bore witness to something that had once seemed impossible. Arcose - the crown jewel of the greatest empire the universe had ever known - was lost. Political upheaval was certainly about to occur. Hyoza's grip on the frame of the screen tightened slightly and he leaned in closer, excitement coursing through him at the possibilities this created. The image flickered once more, revealing a woman, perhaps attractive by the standards of so-called baseline humanoids, but her features were not what interested him. She sat in a command throne aboard some vessel, her feet resting on the back of a cowering alien. And her hair was golden, standing impossibly straight despite its length and apparent lack of grooming. She was, he knew, Zuccetta, Queen of Vegeta. He'd heard rumours of some transformation discovered among the Saiyans, but he'd never seen a Super Saiyan before. He tapped the screen, freezing the image as he looked into those blue-green eyes. Was this the so-called legend?
Pondering for a moment, he allowed the recording to resume playing. She boasted of the destruction of Arcose as she idly toyed with the severed head of an Arcosian - Empress Wyntre herself. Hyoza was impressed by the audacity and the evident power of the Saiyans. He listened with half-interest as she rattled off some spiel about how doomed the Arcosian race was; his mind abuzz with possibilities. But then, he heard something that ensnared his interest once again. "I will give the remaining, non-SSE denizens of this galaxy one final opportunity; surrender and join my empire, peacefully, or else history will run red with the blood of your friends.""The remaining splinters of Arcose; that blue jewel which humiliated me so; and others. You have a week to comply."
With a smile, Hyoza deactivated the screen, tossing it across the cave into a heap with his other belongings. He stretched, joints popping loudly as they were forced to move for the first time in hours. Standing up from his rock, he walked with purpose towards the pile. His fingers found what he was looking for and quickly withdrew it from the haphazard arrangement of objects. With a glint in his eye, he looked over the chestplate of his armour, emblazoned with the symbol of the Blackstar.
Yes, it was a good time to be a mercenary.

Post by Maeve Rakshasa on Sept 3, 2015 20:24:24 GMT
In the large hospital located within the capitol of the Southern Isles an unconventional family was happily celebrating the health and wellness of one of their members. Earlier, the demonic swordswoman: Maeve Rakshasa and the farm boy with a heart of gold: Scampi Shrimp encountered and fought off the forces of a twisted noble from a dying world. While the battle with this lone Arcosian ended in victory for Maeve she didn't know that it was merely a herald of the fury that was to come. For Lady Rime had only came to Earth while fleeing something far more terrifying. Maeve sat in her bed though, smiling wide and giggling with relief whilst wiping tears from her golden eyes as the family praised her for her previous victory. They had no idea what was to come. How could they? Things were supposed to be fine now that the mysterious alien invader was vanquished with the power of Maeve. Things were supposed to be fine now...Right? The TV set flickered with static before suddenly shifting to an image of a fierce looking woman with spiky golden hair and blue eyes that were colder than ice. A crooked smile played on her lips as she looked into the camera, pride arrogance and power radiating from her gaze alone. She stared a moment before she spoke, beginning the address that would shake the galaxy... "Hey Y'all, somethin's on the TV!" Scampi called out as his cartoon was suddenly replaced with the visage of the super saiyan warlord. Scampi's eyes widened however seeing something peculiar under the cybernetic hand of 'Lady Death.' He gawked failing to form words for a moment only to utter "H-Hey wait a tic! T-That's!" "Rime!" Maeve and Scampi called out at the same time seeing the arcosian head in Zucceta's grasp. Only... It wasn't Lady Rime, it was the empress she so 'loyally' followed. The realization of the difference seemed to dawn on them as they quieted down. Though, soon after another dreadful thought crossed their minds. She must have been the reason Rime came to Earth in the first place... She must have been far more terrifying than she or any of them could ever imagine... Maeve and the rest of the family would cut their gaze to the TV set as the terrible broadcast began. Maeve's eyes narrowed as she stared at the saiyeness who introduced herself as 'lady death.' She was going on and on about some sort of 'empire' and how it was easily destroyed by her. How could she just destroy a world like that? Was she that heartless? Maeve's hands clenched over the sheets that were covering her as she looked down, outrage building in her. To destroy an empire...She must have killed so many. In her contemplation of the devastation this 'Lady Death' must have caused she missed the fact that two of her subordinates were powerful enough to take a planet by themselves. Her eyes darted side to side as she let her thoughts race with questions. What sort of weapon could drain all the life of a world? She recalled a demon with a power not unlike that but his grip didn't extend to entire worlds! How did a mortal have such fearsome power?! Who was this woman?! She was poisoning worlds without a care all for her own dark ambition. It was maddening to the demoness. Then she heard it... Saiyan. Images of the saiyan woman: Radasha flashed before her eyes. She could hear her words echoing in her skull. "My race is composed of Warlords."
How could she have been so stupid?! She was probably scouting out Earth for this Queen Zucceta and she let her go about her business. She was certain, these saiyans were going to come to Earth, her home, and poison it... ...Sure enough, it was listed as one of her 'targets.' She wanted the 'Blue Gem' for herself. Maeve would have none of it. Her face twisted into a furious snarl as the transmission was cut in such a cavalier manner. This queen showed no concern for the gravity of her declaration whatsoever... This was just some game to her. A game that Maeve was intent on winning. "...Maeve? What are we gonna do?" Scampi asked looking aside to the dragoness. "Train, and prepare..." Maeve simply said moving to get out of bed. "I won't let some 'queen' poison my new home! She will fall to my blade! That I swear. I've got to, to protect you and everyone else. I won't let anything happen to my home or my family!" She said looking back to the boy and his family with a confident smile. She stood from her bed. She was done with laying around, it was time to act. I'll Take Zeni Please

Post by Raisu Hanamura on Sept 6, 2015 15:25:04 GMT
Raisu walked through the city streets, people all around him walking, talking, and just generally going about their business. Life seemed so simple in that moment, even among the sounds of the cityscape. Their was a certain beauty to it, as there was to all things. People were capable of just as much beauty as nature, or at least Raisu thought so. It was only natural.
Raisu smiled as he passed a woman with a child hanging from her shoulder. She smiled back. A wordless exchange between two strangers, but both knew the other meant goodwill. Amid the chaos of life, amid the tumulous universe, there was peace. And he wouldn’t have it any other way. At any given moment, there was war raging somewhere out there in the universe. And Raisu’s heart ached for the victims, the bystanders, those who had the pale horse of death and war brought up to their homes. They hadn’t made that choice. Someone else had made it for them. And surely this decider, this man or woman who the deaths of thousands and millions could be laid at the feet of, justified it somehow. Land, resources, pride. All these things were simply words in the wind, blown along with the black smoke of destruction. Disgusting, really. How people desired and made war. He could feel the fire burning in his blood, calling him a hypocrite. He had the blood of raiders and murderers in him. Not that Raisu had chosen this life, but still he could not chase whatever small influence the blood of father had on him from his mind. It set his heart to pounding like a great drum and a set a certain elation in his mind. Disgusting, really. Yes, that ugly part of Raisu’s mind was just plain grotesque.
But at least he was living mostly in peace. Yes, war and conflict raged even on Earth, but it seemed so distant. People could go about their lives without worry, making their own little sanctuaries against the tides of battle. Raisu found himself in one such sanctuary today. His sanctuary was comprised of regular people living their lives. The normalcy was like a shield, bulwark against the chaos. But he knew it could be shattered in an instant.
Across the street, a large building mounted screen crackled to a different channel. Odd, he thought, it was normally left of the news. And then he saw it as the image flickered to clarity. A woman with golden hair and a metallic arm. The arm was clutching something. A head? Oh Kais, it was a head. And her feet seemed to be planted on a body. Raisu swallowed, his heart growing heavy. This could not be good tidings. No, very few things were accompanied by such imagery and meant well.
The woman spoke, introducing herself as Zucceta. The Queen of Saiyans, it seemed. The name struck a bell within Raisu’s mind. He’d heard it before, but where? Not that it mattered at the moment. There were more pressing matters at the moment. Such as the fact that she had apparently defeated Arcosian Empire. Her and her ilk… What was a Super Saiyan? He thought back to an encounter he’d had. Someone had told him about what a Super Saiyan was. And now, looking at the golden woman on screen, he knew exactly what he was looking at: a Super Saiyan. It put a fear in his heart. To defeat an entire planet singlehandedly? Was that the might of these warriors? His knees shook with awe. How could that be? How could one person have all that power? And there were more? Raisu’s mind reeled at the thought. These kinds of people existed, as crazy as it seemed. And they’d exercised their wrath on an entire empire. Raisu said a quick prayer for the departed. They’d need it. And then Zucetta dropped a real bomb: she was intending to pursue the rest of the worlds. Did that mean Earth? Surely it meant Earth. What other goal was there? Earth had to be the most appealing target. But what an ultimatum. Surrender or die? No beating around the bush there. At least she’d kept it simple. And then she bid the people farewell, and her image flickered from the screen. The people in the streets around him looked at the now blank screen with shock and fear.
In the distance, he heard crying. People began to whisper, speaking to one another.
“No way…” Came a voice. “We’re done for…” Came another.
So, this is what was coming. A Saiyan Invasion. Raisu’ tail tightened around his waist. Never before had he been so conscious of it. It truly was a curse. The blood of his ancestors’ mark. He grimaced. He hadn’t asked to be born with it. If he had a choice, he’d cast his heritage aside. But that was the hand Raisu had been dealt. And now he had to live with it, like it or not. Maybe there would come a day he could take pride in his heritage, but not this day. On this day, his cousins among the stars had reared their ugly heads and showed their true nature. Evil was the name of the game, and they played it well.
The voice around him grew ever louder. People were upset. Not that it surprised him. It wasn’t easy to take such news. In fact, he was impressed some people were managing not to cry or scream. He wished he could be so stoic, as tears began to well in his eyes. Raisu loved his home. It was a beautiful place. His only family was here. His family. His mind turned to his mother. How was she taking this? The hole in his heart grew as Raisu considered what fate might await her. And then he thought of Tsu Kini. She might not be family by blood, but she was family in his heart. He owed her everything.
And then images of Sam and his family flashed in his mind. They’d had nothing but kindness for him. And here they were, about to have their lives invaded and maybe taken away. Snapshots of everyone he knew flashed through his mind. People he loved, people he didn’t… All were in danger. And here he was, standing slack jawed with tears in his eyes.
No, he thought. He’d not make it easy. He’d defend his home. He may not be a match for a “Super Saiyan”, but damn him he could try. Raisu wiped the tears from his eyes. One week? Not a lot of time. But he’d try and be ready.
(Zeni, please and thank you.)

"Play it again, Donna." "Replaying..."The message was rewound for the fifteenth time today. Bing was watching it carefully, looking for any details he might need to know, or secret parts of the message that may have been hidden behind key frames of the video. This was, of course, a fruitless search, but it was one Bing needed to do, just to make sure he didn't miss anything. The voice of Bing's AI compatriot, Donna, spoke up. "Bing, I've run the video through thousands of times...there's nothing hidden here. This is a declaration of war; plain and simple."The Guardian sighed, realizing he was simply wasting his time. "Has the BBA sent a response?""Can't find any through the air-waves, so most likely no.""...Donna, let's send a reply.""What?""You heard me. Start recording...we'll make sure the Queen knows that her message was sent.""I hope you know what you're doing..."Bing stood up from his captains chair, looking directly into the camera that had descended from the ceiling. He cleared his throat, and began speaking. "Greetings, Queen Zucceta. This is Bing Gan, Guardian of Earth. Your broadcast has been received, and we have a response to your 'final opportunity'...""We decline.""If you think your 'Super Saiyan' army is going to simply walk all over us, then you are dead wrong. We won't be pushed around just because you've got spiky golden hair!"Bing seemed to get quite a bit annoyed near the end of that sentence, but calmed himself by taking a deep breath. "...So why don't you come on down to Earth? Maybe you can show me just how powerful the legendary Super Saiyan really is..."

Lost in some city of no importance, Nitra wandered amongst the bustling crowds. He gathered that Arcosians weren't too common within this small shopping district, given the odd looks he received from a variety of civilians. Nonetheless, the streets were far too crowded for many people to take notice. He came to a large opening, shops and stalls surrounding him on all sides. Various buildings had television screens protruding from their exterior walls, news channels being broadcast across all of them.
He heard a faint beeping call out from his belt, and he glanced down to investigate. The sound grew louder and louder, almost screaming at him, as he reached for the small Holo-Communicator emitting these noises. Nitra frowned in confusion, staring at the screen that read “--INCOMING TRANSMISSION--”. He still wasn't sure how to use this small device, still working out the kinks of the small rectangular piece of machinery.
The Arcosian hesitantly tapped the screen of the Holo-Communicator, frowning even more when it responded with... nothing. Just the same two words glued to the screen. Then he noticed the crowd – they'd stop swimming across the streets and by the stalls, now they were at a stand-still. Nitra looked up, confused at the sudden stop, and saw the same two words plastered onto all of the televisions surrounding the square. The mumbles and mutterings of the civilians within the area combined and echoed out in a jumble of voices. He glanced around him to see the confusion and concern on many of their faces, but then the sound of sharp static stabbed the air.
All of the television screens flickered into life, even the screen of the Holo-Communicator, as they received the transmission. The broadcast showed a planet on fire and giant apes destroying everything in their path, some of the civilians embraced one another in concern. Nitra's stomach twisted as the shots cut to what looked like the aftermath of the battle – a planet in disrepair and ruin. He knew this planet, knew the people who lived there. It was his rightful home, the place he had devoted to protecting through most of his current life; Planet Arcose had been reduced to almost nothing.
His eyes widened and pupils dilated, his grip on the Holo-Communicator tightened and his breathing shallowed. What had he just seen? His people... His home... The one thing he had protected for so many years had been... destroyed. And that's when he saw her face; that cocky grin amidst the pulsating yellow hair. The form a Saiyan achieves when they reach power beyond any normal Saiyan – a Super Saiyan. And in her cold, metal hand she held the head of Empress Wyntre. Nitra's mind was all over the place, mixed emotions of turmoil and anger sweeping over him. The ki within his body burst into life as he propelled himself up into the air, coming face to face with the woman on the screen. He hadn't taken a moments notice of the citizens below whom he may have knocked aside, for he was too distracted by his internal struggle to remotely care. He hovered there, swallowing the words of this “Lady of Death”, this “Zucetta”.
She mocked his race, spat on her Brenchian footstool and toyed with the head of their fallen Empress. How had she been so easily defeated? She had been significantly more powerful than his father, General Kryo, yet she was bested and defiled by this golden-haired ape? His empty fist clenched as hard as it possibly could before the other hand attached the small computer device to his belt. Without a moments hesitation, the ki within his body burst into life once more and he left the area. Her face was etched into his memory as his eyes burnt with tears of anguish.
His father had failed his job, something he had seemed to care so much about. The Empire had fallen and his home was destroyed. He may not have had much respect for his species or his planet, but there was always the sense of pride from being born an Arcosian. He could remember all too well putting his Empire first and foremost – he had done so when he lived within the military, and he had done so when he aimed to fall into a more political role. He had always contributed to his Empire and his home, he had always aimed to serve to the best of his abilities even when unhappy with the treatment he had received from his peers. A home was a home, and this felt as if he had been cut deep with a knife.
And then came the rage. Nitra was far too weak to even consider seeking revenge for his people, he was weaker than his father and far weaker than the fallen Empress. He couldn't stand feeling so pathetic and incapable, and for once he finally felt as if he could understand why his father strode for him to become stronger. Power was everything in this world, and without power you could achieve nothing. Whilst he had been aimlessly searching for a purpose on this godforsaken planet, his people and his own home were burning and being destroyed by a Saiyan invasion.
Trapped within the whirlwind of his thoughts, Nitra lost control of his ki manipulation and he tumbled down towards the dirt below him. He tried to regain control of his flight, but he was too blinded by bitter rage to raise himself back into the sky. Crashing into the dirt and leaving a trail of dust clinging to the air, he let out a cry. It wasn't a cry of physical pain, for his armoured skin was more than capable of taking the impact on such soft ground, but it was a cry of internal agony. The conflict of anguish and rage clashed with one another and left him shaking in the dirt. He hadn't given much care for his species or his Empire before the televised broadcast, but something about seeing all that you've come from and all that you've strived hard in your life to protect reduced to almost nothing had hit home.
He would have to become stronger, and he would have to do so fast. He would achieve levels of power that his father could not, and he would represent the Arcosian people for as long as he lived.
He was Nitra of the Blackstar Raiders, son of the great General Kryo. And he mourned for his fallen race.
