I'm sorry that it's come to this, but I honestly believe that this is the best course of action. In a cliche way of putting it: "It's not you, it's me." I've never been a good writer, most of the time in rp my posts seem to blend together into monotony and I end up dragging down those around me into often stale encounters. I've really come to realize the fact of the matter finally though thanks to FritzingHell, whom I initially labeled as just a person with an inexpiable want to harass me at every given moment until I realized that his points, though harsh, were brutally valid. My ability to develop character is nigh nonexistent, my characters never have any overarching goals, unrealistic personalities, and tend to depend almost entirely on their environments to rp instead of helping create a story. Thinking that maybe this was due to my current character, I tried making a new character but somehow after 1 post and proper criticism realized that I was simply falling into the same traps again. I've come to the realization, that I feel while most of you are too nice to agree with out loud do know to be true, that my presence only really causes complication and relative uncomfortability and irregularity in rps.
Let me clarify that although I came to this realization through less than friendly criticism, it is not due to it that I am leaving. Until I feel that I'm able to accurately and competently portray a character that is both fun to play as and with while not falling back into the same cycle of monotony and 0 development, it would simply be an inane and unfair burden on those who actually can and do so very well in their posts. I don't know when I'll be back, it's not like i'm disappearing off the face of the internet so people can still contact me through dm services like skype or discord, but I probably will not return any time soon. I apologize to those I have somehow integrated one of my characters into their stories and relationships, but would like to inform that they can go ahead and put up for grading any threads I am present in after wrapping them up how they seem fit or even as they are. Thank you for the memories, and I hope that next time I decide to return to this website, if I ever do, I will be able to form a coherent character not only enjoyable by myself but others as well.

Only you, yourself, can dictate what your character feels, what they do, and how they progress. If you want my honest opinion, I find Tomoyo to be a honest to God breath of fresh air in what can often times be an over saturated roster of child characters. Take as much time as you need, but I don't think you need any time off. From what I've read (yes, I read almost everyone's posts) you are a great writer that puts a lot of personality into their posts, not just the character.
Would like to see you stay and eventually get to thread with you. Hopefully we get a chance to do that.

Buddy, the only way you'll be able to improve is through practice. My writing used to be god awful but I didn't let that stop me. If you perceive a problem actively work to improve it you don't need to shy away from it or quit doing what you're doing. I believe that you realizing your faults will lead to you gradually getting better and I can safely say that if you stick with it you'll end up enjoying yourself more.
If you need to take a breather go right ahead but if you wanna stay and you want to rp feel free, just look at each post and try to do better each one. I know you've got it in ya.
Edit: I say this from the perspective that I haven't read a ton of your posts and am more so going by what you're saying here.

Dang. I do hope you find a footing you love doing, not just what other people think of you. Dont let the bad things get to your head and do whatever makes you feel comfortable and happy. Skill eventually comes later with experience. Good luck man.

Also, some people tend to look at progression and overall character goals and just blurt them out incessantly in the CBox. Do not feel like that needs to be YOU. Progress Tomoyo at YOUR OWN PACE. That's the great thing about having a character and wanting the best for them.
I have been RPing as Kizuki for over 10 years, and I haven't even scratched the surface of his progression and goals. Things change. Achieve all you want at YOUR OWN PACE!

There will always be people who have something to say about others, but as kizuki says, you have been a breath of fresh air and must remember that your character is still something that does not fall into monotone.
"My ability to develop character is nigh nonexistent, my characters never have any overarching goals, unrealistic personalities, and tend to depend almost entirely on their environments to rp instead of helping create a story"
Specifically this from your post, Isn't it best to go with the flow and be the breath of fresh air? don't be discouraged, keep it up, you can do this bro! Keep at it and stay with us and you will see that you are more than you think you are! ovo

It's never a good thing to see members go, but come on, did you really have to mention Fritz into this? Thinking you're a bad writer and having someone 'harass' you are two different things.

Play your character the way you want to. Don't let somebody else dictate how you progress your own character. Just take criticism with a grain of salt. And only take the criticism you feel will make you a better writer.

Patience, analyzation, practice, edit, and time to cool down is important. If you feel this is the time to cool down, do that. It's part of a cycle of any form of work and hobby in life. I'm not gonna stop you from leaving, but don't be a stranger in any of the chats now! You're a fun-gi... Seriously, though, do at least keep in contact!

I also felt like just doing something else with my time because I was unhappy with 'things' in plural over my course here. The truth is that you'll probably find that it's not much better anywhere else in terms of people being assholes. At least here mods are consistent with the idea of actions and consequence.
You could always just make a new character and block people that give you shit. Mods will (and have in the past) tell me that I shouldn't encourage blocking, but fuck it; do what you have to. There is nothing against the rules about it, and if that's what you need to do to keep your head clear then do it.
I'm not saying bury your head in the sand and ignore EVERY criticism; if someone like Rev, ViPoi, Bing, or Nic tell you something you're probably better off listening... But not all the time; every rule has its exception, right? In the end of the line everyone here is human and makes mistakes — or just have a viewpoint that you won't agree with. If that viewpoint is in regards to how you portray your character I'd say that even their opinions and suggestions should come second to yours. Even if it means tanking your 'quality score'. Nostalgic Ayumu is a prime example of this — and I give him props. He does HIS thing (despite consequences) and hardly cares about other people's opinions (even though sometimes even I think he should listen to some things).
I would be lying if I said I haven't noticed that people — not just one person in specific — have been getting on your ass in and out of the cbox, but it's nothing that's too bad to the point where I think leaving is the best course of action. I mean, everyone gets a little bit of shit. It's really just how the world goes. I feel like the only time it should start bothering you is IF it continues after you put your foot down.
I just need to remind everyone that this is a fucking role playing website. We're all writing shitty fan fictions about original characters, who almost every single time are pissweak in terms of any story building anyway. Some of us are here to improve our writing; most aren't. You want to improve your writing? Awesome. You don't? That's even better in my book.
I'd be honest, if I was in your position I'd say 'fuck off' and take my 10% warning with pride. It's honestly something I felt like I should've done way too often, and I pretty much regret every time I chose not to do it.

In a few words-- I don't think you'd pay any attention to anyone --especially someone who's a member here just like you-- trying to force their opinion on you, man. Criticism is fine, but you shouldn't make it weigh way too much on your shoulders; we're here to have fun, not to write a novella. As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters. Just like Kizuki said; everyone improves at their pace.
Hope you decide to stay around!

There's something I've said to a few people in the last 48 hours, people who are nervous that they're not doing something right due to criticism in the cbox and other places. My advice: don't listen to criticism that a) isn't trying to be constructive and b) is from people you don't know, or don't respect.
While I don't agree with everything in Cornatto's img above (i think paragraphs/word use are good things to grasp in any form of prose writing) I agree with 95% of it. Don't worry about fitting in "stylistically," and don't worry that your character acts outside of other people's expectations for them. Provided they're doing what YOU think they should and would do, we don't have a problem.

I'm just speaking from my perspective, but I have always liked your posts, and to me at least they seemed unique each time. I know what you are probably feeling right now, I have felt that way too. You just got to keep pushing through! In regards to Fritz, ignore him. If he says your posts are bad don't let him get to you. But if you do choose to leave.......it's your choice. The AL and Earth will be a lot emptier without you.

Tomo, I hope you stay. I think you've always been a positive presence in the cbox and a good addition to the site. It would be a shame to see you go.
I'm going to parrot what some other people have said, likely, but this matter is important to me: we are here to roleplay. We are here to have fun. Were you having fun, Tomoyo? If so, I think you were doing right by your character and you. I think there is a serious problem here with people feeling beholden to others or feeling like they must mold their characters in an effort to fit the tiny box that has been laid out for them by others. Or even feeling pressure that they are not doing something right.
You claim it is through criticism that this was 'revealed' to you. I think the, unfair and unkind I might add, has warped your view. Anyone would break down after so much, regardless of how thick a skin you have. Prior to today, I think you were having fun. Criticism, when constructive, has its place. I do not feel you were given constructive criticism.
And even then? Those are just words. You don't have to give into them. Tomo, you are not here to please anyone but yourself. You are not here to please staff, you are not here to please other players. You are not a puppet on a string that is meant to be bent to the will of others. You are here to please you, and have fun doing it.
Whatever choice you make, people should respect that. But I know that I, personally, would be sad to see a fellow member chased away like this, and so would many others.

I'm in agreement with the consensus here; but I also realize that it might be somewhat hard to get past people bothering you in that regard. I feel that, I really do; I try my best to ignore it, but people have their limits. Don't let petty stuff like that get to you-- thats good advice; its a skill you need to train into, does it take some time? Perhaps a few tries to get it right? Yeah, but its good advice.
I can tell you, with 100% certainty; that if anyone else was in our thread w/ Tomoyo & Ford, it would've been WILDLY different. Any other kid/child character would've taken it into a whole other direction. Any older character would've had the same result. Even among those, occurrences would be unique.
Tomoyo's presence in that thread is still unique.
Everyone has a different style. Yes, there might be similarities and common skills or traits among these styles; sure-- you also need practice to get better and avoid common pitfalls in writing; everyone does; but only you can design, envision and truly write for Tomoyo. Nobody else can.
