Mission Log #1
I am sorry, master. I failed in my sole task of protecting, and I failed not because of any flaw or defect in my design, but by my own miscalculation. My batteries were severely depleted, and so I powered down in order to recharge, and now in my recharged state, my new objective is to find the mobster known as Quixote, infiltrate his base of operations through any means necessary, and then eliminate Quixote. The laboratory has been ransacked, and their remains nothing for me, so after my mission is over, fail or success, I do not intend to return. Goodbye.
Sadm picked up his master’s body, and took it outside, where he used his energy beams to create a hole in which he buried Sergio, and gave his farewell. Sergio had programmed Sadm with basic emotions, and Sadm was experiencing them for the first time. He was upset with himself for not being able to protect the man who brought him into existence, and vowed revenge on the ones who took his life. Though failing in his first attempt, he was now more prepared for the dangers that were up ahead. His first mission was finding where Quixote had his base of operations.
Sadm had a basic database of human conventions, and he knew that it would be hard to get information out of people he had walked around in blood socked clothes, and so his first priority was finding something clean to wear, which his master had not prepared for him. He had a visual map inside of his mind, and followed it down to the nearest clothes store. People around him were giving him very strange looks, and so he went inside quickly and began looking around for something which was in his size, but also something he thought was visually appealing.
After a few minutes of searching, he found something he liked, and went over to the counter to buy it. However as he went to pay for it, two men burst through the door. They have balaclavas over their heads and a pistol in their hands. “Alright everybody, put your hands in the air and hand over any valuables you have.” The humans in the store all complied, but Sadm stared motionless at them. He noticed that they were wearing a ring which matched one the members of Quixote’s gang wore, and so he knew this was his way in.
“Hey idiot, you deaf or something? I told you to get your hands in the air, and turn out your pockets, so get to it.” Sadm again did not respond, and so the gang member raised his gun and prepared to fire, but as he did, Sadm too raised his hand, and charged up his energy cells. The mobster looked shocked, and unaware on what to do, but Sadm was not so hesitant. He fired his energy beam at the man, who at the last second jumped out of the way, causing the beam to fire right through the side of the shop and straight into the next one.
The shopkeeper fainted, and the two gang members looked at each other shocked. They again pulled their guns on Sadm and fired, but without much effect. The bullets reflected off Sadm and hurt only his clothing. Sadm slowly walked towards the men as they continued to fire, until they were firing at point blank range. He grabbed the gun of their nearest assailant, and crushed it in his hand. The other man quickly made a rush for the exit, but was shot down by Sadm, who grabbed the other man by the throat, and held him against the wall.
“Greetings, my name is Sadm. Earlier today men from your organization infiltrated my master’s laboratory and murdered him. I need to know where your boss, Quixote, is right now.” The thug smirked at Sadm, and spat in his face. “I got no idea what you’re talking about, so just let me go why don’t ya or else my backup will make short work of you.” Sadm did not take heed of the threat, and instead took his free hand and dug it into the abdomen of the mobster, and kept pushing harder until he felt the skin tear.
“Okay please stop, I’ll tell you what you want to know.” Sadm dropped the man to the floor and waited for his response. “About two blocks down, there’s a big warehouse with about four men stationed outside, that’s where you’ll find who you’re looking for.” At that moment, a car pulled up outside the store, and three men got out. The two that were sitting in the back wore the same clothes, and the same ring. The man driving was much larger than these two, He also got to wear his own clothes, and his ring had a different symbol on it.
The large man signaled at the two in the back to stay put, and walked into the store with a disgruntled look on his face. “You stupid rats. I give you a simple task or extorting a damn clothes store, and yet you somehow manage to mess it up, and who the hell is this?” The thug that started this got up off the ground and tried to explain the situation, but this commandant was not interested in what happened. He grabbed his pistol from its holster and executed the man. “Now then, back to my point, my name is George, and who the hell do you think you are.”
Sadm figured out that there would be no negotiating with this man, and so did not bother with the formalities, instead choosing to once again fire an energy beam, which was dodged by George. The beam carried on however and burst right through the front window, hitting George’s car. The car burst into flames, killing the two men standing on either side of it. “You bastard, that wasn’t even my car, it was the bosses! You’ll pay for that.” George rushed at Sadm, throwing his left fist out aimed at the chin of Sadm.
Sadm was quicker than George, and was able to grab his first before it made contact. George was shocked, and tried to pull his fist out of the vice grip, but was unable to overpower Sadm. His hand was immediately crushed. Many bones flew out on the river of blood pouring from the now former limb, and George was on the verge on crying. “Please… let me go.” Sadm felt sorry for the man, so he complied with his wishes, but not before taking his clothes, and his ring. With his new clothes on, he headed towards Quixote’s compound.
A few minutes of walking and he came across the building described earlier, and he tried his best to blend in with other mobsters. As mentioned earlier, there were in fact four men stationed outside, however once Sadm got there, he saw some commotion going on, and four extra men took position on the outside. Sadm thought his identity was known, but he kept walking forward, and they did not seem to know who he was. Once he got within talking distance, a man stepped forward and spoke. “Hold on, where do you think you’re going.”
Sadm only replied with “inside.” The man took a good look at Sadm, and saw the ring on his finger. He nodded at the rest of the guards, and they moved out of the way. Sadm continued to the door, but found no sort of handle to open it. A few seconds of fumbling around and he saw some sort of scanning device, which he placed his ring on. A light came on, and the door quickly opened. Sadm quickly walked inside and began examining his surroundings. The warehouse was a lot emptier than he had imagined, and so he was confident on his mission.
He continued walking forward and looking for any sign of Quixote, until he saw a large wooden door with Quixote’s name on it. He was able to push this door open, and walked in on Quixote speaking with another man. Quixote turned around and recognized his guest. “Ah, I’ve been expecting you for some time now.” Sadm realized his cover was blown, and quickly tried to fire at Quixote, but behind him came many grunts which held his arms. They dragged him over to Quixote’s desk where they put him in chains and removed the protective covering over the back of his neck.
“I didn’t realize at first that you were a mechanical being, but after reports of what you did not so long ago today, and the fact that your master was an inventor of sorts, it quickly came together.” Quixote signaled at more men to come in, but these were scientists and engineers. “We shall reprogram you to answer my commands, after all with what you were able to do with my men today you’re worth ten of them!” Quixote snapped his fingers, and the scientists flattened out Sadm over the desk, and began their work.
