Apsaraga sighed in what passed for sentiment amongst saiyans as he beheld his newly aqquired space pod, though it was dirty, old and barely held together by the few bolts that hadn't rusted into powder it was his and far more importantly it would last for one whole trip out into the wider universe.
Somewhere out there he would find greater strength yet, the mere thought of the battles he would fight and the foes he would face made his saiyan blood burn with anticipation, not that the empire hadn't been providing him with numerous and extremely satisfying battles to the death against all manner of forsaken alien species on the fringes of space but he felt that his time in the military was drawing to a close, for now at least, no doubt he would return to vegeta and pledge himself anew to its armies in some way or another...but till then the space ways beckoned for him, offering the promise of battles unknown and foes undreamed off before by any low-class sayian such as he.
But first things first, his friends and squad mates had arranged to go out on the town to celebrate their recent victory on Planet Pofiral and to send him off as one of their own into the wider galaxy, once he'd recovered from the hangover he'd doubtless get from the night of revelry that lay before him.
Making sure the pod had indeed engaged its maglocks before pocketing the control device and heading off into the cities dark, dank and dirty slums towards his favourite watering hole, he found himself suddenly rather more appreciative of his homeworlds natural beauty, the dull red sky overhead punctuated by black clouds and the dull pinkish glow of the planets sun shimmering on the horizon, he knew that he'd miss these things he'd barely paid any attention to before but resolved in his battle hardened and scarred heart that all this meant was that they would be all the more beautiful to his eyes on his return.
entering the dingy little pub without much fuss he quickly scanned the room for his friends amongst the sea of faces, saiyan and alien alike until his eyes came to rest on the familar broad outline of his second in command, the mighty totapotis, huge even by saiyan standards the towering and heavy set warrior cut through the cheap narcotics smoke and crowd of ugly forsaken faces like an oozaru in a city skyline,
Making his way for the familiar form of this towering giant without a care, pushing his way through the mass of civilians as he did so, answering the indignent stares with fierce and challenging eyes of his own that quickly cowed those who would've made a fuss back to nursing their drinks and proceeding to give tota' a friendly slap across the back in greetings.
"Hey tota." he grumbled in his deep throated voice "how're you holding up? You took a nasty hit back there friend." he said in equal parts concern for his friend and teasing for having allowed himself to be struck across the back of the head in such a manner.
Bursting into laiughter at his friends unamused stare he quickly took to his seat and looked around the empty table "where'd the others disappear too? Couldn't even wait for me to park up that old pod before getting themselves shitfaced and booking a night in the barrel?" he asked the huge framed saiyan whoms only reply was a smirk and a shake of his head.
Totapotis was the strong silent type, Apsaraga liked that about him, he was one of those strong silent types who didn't only hear but truely listened, it was another aspect that made him a great warrior even ontop of his natural gifts of size and strength he was cunning and wise.
Snapped from his reminiscing by the nod of gesticulation from his friend he turned to look at what he had been indicating, the rest of his 5 solider squad off in the distance partaking in the age old game of mercy, where two warriors would interlock fingers as if in a grapple and take turns squeezing their opponents fingers around their own untill one party submitted currently Auba was locked in a struggle with her eternal foil and rival Punakib, the rotund saiyan often teasing her about her slight frame and lacking physical power and in turn being teased by the lithe and deadly auba about his rotund body and clumsy gait as Kazorn, the only other saiyan in his squad who could be called of average build oversaw them, making sure that neither of them took their greivances too far.
turning away to gesture towards one of the robotic serving units to come over with a jug of his strongest, nose burning, paint peeling drink to share with his friends by the time he'd turned back they'd finished their game and were heading for the table, all parties present bearing bitter-sweet smiles as they prepared to spend their last night together for some time.
"To apsaraga!" Kazorn shouted "May his tail never shoot between his legs when he turns it to come running home!" he toasted to a roar of laughter from the table and a few of those beyond who knew the rowdy squad well enough to not have to worry about any misgivings.
Clashing their cups together in a merry toast of cammaderie they yelled in turn "To apsaraga! to the Garten Squad!" it would be a night that they couldn't quite remember but surely one they would never forget, even if they did wind up sleeping it off in the icy depths of the drunk tank in the local barracks, it would always be something they'd remember.
Destiny waited for no saiyan after all just as no full moon waited for any race warring with the saiyans to be done.
Waking up with a splitting headache and his friends nowhere to be seen or his battle-suits breastplate for that matter he took a brief moment as he lay their on the cold, slightly wet cobblestones of the backstreet alleyway to look up at the sky as a small cluster of pods sped away into the atmosphere and away to the front lines
He'd definitely be back...not that he could leave without first locating his battle-suits breastplate first as he'd stashed the controller for his pod in it, he couldn't help but laugh even as his head pounded at the parting gift his friends had given him.
Zeni Please!
