Fusion is something that the Dragon Ball Franchise happens to use sparingly. But when they do, it's pretty darn awesome. I saw Arlic Valliere 's thread saying we should have fusion implemented, and I immediately thought up of ideas on how it would mechanically work for the site. I believe this topic has already been discussed before, but I think it went into a dead end (?). Even so, I would like to input my spin on fusion to the site, whether it gets used or not. So now i'm dumping the stuff i've spent 30 minutes a lot of time working on. Please note that this only covers the fusion dance, and not namekian fusion or potara. So the first question one may have is simple: How does one perform fusion? Well first thing's first, you have to learn the fusion dance. In order to do this, you have to learn it from the Metamoran Master, which works similarly to the other Schools implemented into the site. The Metamoran Master can only teach two students at a time. As for fusion in an actual thread, let's create a fake "thread" for an example. Let's say Person A has 25,000 PL, and Person B has 20,000 PL. In order to start fusion, Person A must "initiate" it. This means asking Person B if they want to fuse, and making a note of it at the bottom of their post. They must be within 75% PL to do this, and BOTH know the fusion dance. If Person B says yes, then Person B performs the fusion dance with Person A. Person A's next post is when it is determined whether or not the fusion succeeds. When Person A makes their post, they must ping whomever the Metamoran Master is. The Metamoran Master then finds a RNG that goes from 1 to 100 and rolls. When you first perform fusion, you have a 0% chance of success. In other words, you're not going to succeed the first time you fuse. However, for every fusion you perform after that first failure, your chance of success goes up by 20%, which goes up to a maximum of 80%. Let's say that Person A has an 80% chance of success, and they succeed. Depending on what race both Person A and Person B are, they get Fusion Perks. Fusion Perks are what make fusions well... fusions. They increase your powers in different ways depending on whether you are the person who initiated the fusion (Dominant) or the person who got asked to fuse (Subordinate). Underneath is a chart that shows what perks you get for which race. Species | Dominant Perk | Subordinate Perk | Saiyans | +50% of Sub's PL | Gains [MP4] Stardust Breaker | Humans | +30% of Dom's PL | Gains [MP4] Super Spirit Ball | Namekians | Gains Ability to Regenerate 2x | Gains [MP4] Explosive Wave | Majins | Gains Durability | Gains [MP4] Super Vanishing Ball | Acrosians | +x3 to Highest Transformation | Gains [MP4] Death Meteor | Androids | Gains [MP3] Rocket Barrage | Gains [MP4] Neo Laser | Bio-Androids | Gains One Perk From Sub's Race | Gains [MP4] Big Bang Crash | Demons | +33% To All Attacks | Gains [MP4] Hell's Flash | Aliens | +10% of Sub's PL AND +10% of Dom's PL | Gains [MP4] Spirit Blade | Hybrids | +20% of Dom's PL AND +5% of Sub's PL | Gains [MP4] Heat dome Attack |
What's a MP4 you ask? Well, it's a move that deals a whopping 200% damage to your opponent, but there are some downsides. First off, it can only be charged for 3 turns. Secondly, using this will use up your entire KP, regardless of how much ki you have. Finally, there are three ways for a fusion to undo itself:
1. Taking a total of 200% KP damage. 2. The fusion's KP reaching zero (which means using an MP4 undoes the fusion) 3. The fusion having lived for a total of 5 posts, excluding the fusion initiation posts.Anyways, that's it for my spin! Please ask any questions you have below. -Jican

Huh, this is pretty well thought out actually, but I do have one question. What if two people who are two different races fuse? Do the mechanics change in anyway? Is it even possible?

I really like this, think it is quite balanced well other then the mp4. I think that should be cut down to 133 or 150, regardless of its use, kinda strong at 200 per charge at a cap of 3, cap of 3 should stay but yah that all i got to say, good idea.

Collan Vixen Yes, fusion between two races would be theoretically possible. The fusion gains perks according to the Perk Chart i've created. So if Jican and Shibo fused, with Jican being the Dominant, then it would be a fusion with +50% of Shibo's PL, and would also have Super Vanishing Ball. This is because Jican is the Dominant, and therefore the fusion would get the Saiyan Dom Perk, and Shibo is the Subordinate, and therefore would give the fusion the Majin Sub Perk.

Okay good, because if this was taken in at some point, I just want to force Jormungandr into a situation where she has to fuse with Collan. X3

Plato Yes, it MAY seem overpowered at first, however you must take into consideration that the fusion can be knocked out of charging it if they take more than 200% damage. Besides, even if the fusion manages to fire the MP4, the fusion will end regardless.

This is... a fantastic idea! I love it! the only problem I have is that it seems to be possible for a fusion to end up with the same PL the dominant participant normally has, which doesn't really make sense even when you consider the perks those people get.
Also, I'm now thinking about a Jor and Capper fusion....

To this straight in my head... No matter what Fusions end when:
1) They take 200% of their PL ever.
2) Use up their five turn count.
3) Use up their KP.
The last one I have to ask about because in most situations if you don't use special techniques like N1s etc. to attack you don't lose KP on that turn and you regain lost KP. You could essentially keep your fusion going for that max set of 5 turns if you only use regular kicks and punches along with blocks.
That aside, does fusion break on the two people if two people get vaporized or absorbed?
And how necessarily do Majins fuse? They kind of absorb people so they'd honestly always make themselves the dominant race in that regard. The same I feel would go for Bio-Androids. The other races I can see working though for this setup.

Bravo, another one cracking at the ol' Fusion topic/suggestion. Good on you, Jican. owo7
A dominant Majin character can make for a rather broken combination, fused with another character w/ a differing race or not. An extra 3 KP can completely change the tide of a fight, and will prove an immense advantage...an unbalanced advantage. I recommend (perhaps) an extra +x3 to the fused character's Defensive PL, given the Majin's normal multipliers and their defensive nature (especially due to their typical +x3 to defensive PL, it at least possesses some sense to include this).
Regardless, making note of what else has been stated here; I personally believe that the free 200% technique given to fused characters may be a bit overpowered in some cases. Yes, I do know that you've mentioned that it immediately forces the fusion to its end, however the fact that it can charge has a rather profound effect in its use; potentially forming a rather strong desire to fuse, then simply nuke anyone and perhaps everyone in a thread. Its just a bit much.
I recommend to you to simply remove the capability to charge the "MP4" techniques for the sake of balance.
...Or replace the "MP4" techs w/ one of the sub fusee's racial traits (Bio-Androids retaining the initial extra racial trait due to their nature of possessing 3 traits from other races without fusion). Perhaps that could function a bit better instead. <.< >.>
I will also request for you to provide more detail as to where, how, why, and who would be the "Metamoran Master" to instruct others of the Fusion Dance. Who would the Master be? Would it be an NPC? Where would he be based and how could players contact him/her? Can Players become the Metamoran Master? These may be the tiniest bits of detail in which may allow fusion to come onto WoDS officially.
This is purely to assist you in fleshing out this idea and forming a more concrete concept. I hope you may take this constructive criticism as it was meant to be intended; for assisting you in your suggestion. Thank you for your time. ouo7

@misfortune Yes, the fusion could theoretically use only punches and kicks for all five of it's posts. But if it did so then what would be the point of fusing in the first place? Fusion is a technique that in Dragon Ball is used in emergencies (Gogeta vs. Janemba, Gotenks and Vegito vs. Buu, etc.). If a fusion's goal was to defeat a powerful enemy, then I believe that that fusion should be using things like MP3/MP4s to do so instead of just normal punches and kicks. Celmaru Waterfield how dare u insult my stuff I'm going 2 report u to the mods!!!1!!
1. I get it when you say that adding KP can make a Majin fusion overpowered. However, take into consideration the number of Majins active on the site, which last time I checked was kinda low. I also am iffy about giving the fusion the +x3 defense, because I would like to somehow use race traits in Potara. Think of it like this: Fusion is something temporary, lasting only 30 minutes. Similarly so, PL is something that easily changes throughout one's time on the site. This is why I made most of the Perks based around PL and NOT any race attributes, with the exception of Bio-Androids. Potara, on the other hand, is a permanent transformation. I feel like Potara would boost PL slightly, and in addition combine attributes from both races, since it's quite difficult to change your race. In other words, PL and Fusion = Temporary, and Potara and Race (Attributes) = Permanent. So while I get that adding a bunch of KP might be a bit much, I feel like adding +x3 defense isn't the way to go. 2. While I don't wish to get rid of charging the technique completely, perhaps we could change the interval it charges in? I was originally thinking intervals of 50% (making a total of 350% if charged all the way), but maybe we could bump it down to charging like a N1? (making a total of 300% if charged all the way). 3. Same thing as 1: I don't wish to use race attributes. 4. The Metamoran Master would be the leader of a school, similar to the Crane School, Turtle School, etc. It would be a player, of which I guess the mods get to decide who. It would have to be someone that most, if not everyone agrees is trustworthy enough to give real RNG results without modifying it in any way (screenshots will probably be necessary if not). Or we could set up a registration thing like we did with the Sealed Egg thing. The only move the Metamoran Master can teach is [SP] Fusion Dance. However, the Metamoran Master has a 100% chance of fusion success if they are the one fusing to make up for this. According to the DBZ Wiki, Metamorans live on the planet Metamor. However, since they never actually show up in the anime (?), let's just assume they've died out by now. As for someone discovering the fusion dance/becoming the Metamorn Master IC'ly, one could find a book or some form of log that shows people performing the fusion dance, and learn from there.

Well, considering almost half the ten species provided gain some form of a significant power boost I don't see why they couldn't just initiate a a full on brawl to win. Let's say you have a Saiyan and Human fuse. The Saiyan's named Potato and they have a power level of 50,000 PL. The Human's name is Pan. He's got a power level of 50,000. They decide to fuse together to make Pot Pan the Fusion warrior. Pot's base power as a result is 75,000 PL and with their new Explosive Demon Impact they can achieve 150,000 PL. Yet let's say in this situation they don't really need to because their foe is a demon with 50,000 PL yet not way to transform anymore as they have spent their special transformation already trying to kill you without somehow no avail. Maybe you got help from people who sacrificed themselves to gain you an opening? Using a blast to eradicate them at the point you fuse together just seems like a waste since you've significantly closed the gap to the point a punch can floor them into their death. You could vaporize them now, but it just doesn't seem all that exciting.
