[Thread PL: 20.000]
Originally, Freid had planned to enjoy himself in Okariin City, but... with all of the sudden cyborgification going on, he had decided that his vacation to the capital would have to be shorter than planned, before someone decided to ask this weird guy without pointy ears why he wasn't getting himself some fancy enhancements. Honestly, he didn't know why he didn't go and get enhanced - it seemed to be quite useful to those who did it, but he couldn't risk ruining his magic OR his potential for growth, no matter how much he disregarded and didn't care for the plans of his elders. They wanted what was best for him, even if they were annoying old men and women. The word 'disappointment' would be too nice to describe what they would felt if his first trip outside of the village lead to him becoming a cyborg.
So now he was in a rather secluded part of the planet. Without so much as a thought, he discarded his suppression - he didn't care too much about who knew about his strength, and why should he? The warlocks of the planet were gone, king Plato was a corpse now, and the new overlords didn't seem like the kind of people who'd care much about him, some lone wandering swordsman, right? Stretching a bit, the red-haired young man drew his blade and did some quick practice slashes through the air, making sure he still had the perfect feel for the steel in his hand. The red blade whirred through the air, the metal making a pleasant sound as it was swung around - he still had the touch for it. With a smile, Freid sheathed his blade again, looking around with a sigh. This place only had some dried up bushes for vegetation, and didn't seem to have anyone living in it... Looking at one of the larger stones that was just laying there, the young man had an idea. Stepping over to it, he easily lifted the object larger than himself over his head - and throwing it up above his head, he raised his right hand, collecting Ki. He had wanted to try this spell outside of stationary target practice...
Pointing two fingers at it, Freid recited the incantation in his head - his Ki responded in kind, forming into crackling yellow energy dancing across his hand, before flying off into the rock above as a bolt of concentrated lightning, sending hundreds of volts through the stone as it exploded into scorched pieces landing all around the young man. Grabbing his right wrist with his left hand, she shook his head slightly and massaged it - he STILL had not figured out the best way to do this spell without sending some unpleasant shocks down his own system.

Kashvar hidden in the wastelands, experiments of the warlocks left to their own devices, Plato loyalists, saiyans, those who might pose a threat to the new order: things had gotten much more busy for the inquisition over the past several months. The planet was more unstable than ever, and it was Carama’s hope that the outsiders would truly be able to bring stability back to their humble planet. Through the thick of it, Carama had never changed his dogma. He would always look out for the greater good of the people. Perhaps these strange visitors from another world had some ulterior motive with their strange machines, more than likely needing guinea pigs just as the Kashvar that had come before them. Although the cybernetic enhancements that they were offering were of little appeal to Carama, it seemed as if it might serve as useful augmentation for weaker Konatsian. If Konats were stronger, perhaps one day they could rule themselves without submitting under the foot of outsiders, but for now stability was the best that they could achieve.
Although the meeting with the king had been something of a blur, Carama had already moved to assume his duties alongside his men. There were still dissidents from two thrones ago who had to be finished off, the Kashvar still had small pockets of resistance, though the inquisition had been successful in quelling them and keeping it out of the public eye. They would finish the duty of cleansing the world of the warlocks, an order originally given out by King Plato’s headquarters. Though Plato had been deposed, Carama still found it to be a relevant duty to the inquisitors.
What brought Carama into the wastelands was receiving word of a string of kidnappings in several nearby villages. Carama had taken plots of these reports and drew several radius around the locations until he was satisfied with a search area that overlapped the outskirts of each settlement. It was his mission prior to meeting with King Maximilian, and it was a mission he intended to finish.
Traversing across the landscape, Carama and a platoon of inquisitor scouts were dispersed and searching the landscapes for signs of hidden Kashvar hold outs. For the longest time, they were unsuccessful, until a scout finally came running towards Carama.
“We’ve got some activity sir, saw an unnatural flash of light in the distance,” the scout told Carama while pointing his finger towards the horizon.
“Continue your search, I will engage,” Carama said dryly. His polished black boots rose from the ground below and the Konatsian took to the air, the wind blowing his ash gray hair and loose flowing robes as he made his way towards the disturbance. At this point, he couldn't see what had caused the disturbance in the distance, but if there was something out there he was determined to find it.
PL 9,000 (no suppression/no ki sense). Zeni reward. Figured I would give you time to use ki sense and recognize his approach before he gets there ^_^. Freid Nietzo Btw @misfortune might join in a little while after they do a travel thread and whatnot

"Really?! It was just a rock!" With an exclamation not meant for anyone in particular, Freid sighed loudly as his sixth sense suddenly flared up! Could he not even use some magic in his free time without someone instantly racing towards him? Whirling around, it took him a moment to pinpoint the location of the rapidly approaching presence. Whoever this was, they were quite powerful - so probably a guardian. He had realized that the cyborgs and androids of the new overlords didn't even have auras to sense, so at least he wasn't about to get a face full of metal, which was nice in its own right. Hopefully, this wouldn't end in a bout of needless violence, for he had little reason to wish harm on anyone, really. Still, it wasn't like he could hide the fact that he had just used magic... or maybe there was? He could act as if he was a guardian as well! Of course!
With a deep breath, Freid concentrated on another spell - and quickly rose into the air, riding an invisible current of wind controlled by his own 'mana' crafted from his Ki. Squinting his eyes in the direction the energy signature came from, Freid could've sworn that he had felt this aura once before, but he couldn't place it to a face or person, really. With another deep breath, he slowly raised his right hand - flicking it to the side for a moment to get rid of the last slight ache from the earlier blast of lightning - and waved towards the figure racing through the sky. But what would he say if he was asked if he just used some forbidden magic?! Hopefully this person would get bored quickly once they found nothing over here besides him and leave, without asking too many unpleasant questions.
You can do this, Freid. This isn't the first time you have to explain away using magic or being half-human, right? Just keep calm, stay friendly, get them to move on...
Somehow, even the encouragement he was telling himself didn't make him feel too good about this. Was it because of this stranger's aura? Freid had never met a Konatsian with that much energy in them before, so maybe that had something to do with it - probably just his nerves not dealing well with the possibility of someone more talented than him. He did have a certain amount of pride in his own ability, after all.
"Hey, over here!" Best to show right away that yes, he did mean to just talk and was not waving as some sort of 'attack me please' signal.

As Carama made his way towards the source of light, he was only going off of where one of his men had pointed him towards. He feared that by the time he made his approach, the source would be long gone and concealed within the wasteland. His eyes scanned the area like a hawk in search of prey, until finally it was not alert eyes, but his sharp ears that had found the cause of the disturbance. With the sound of the stranger calling out to him, Carama came to an abrupt halt in mid air. He observed the orange haired boy from several hundred feet away, slowly floating closer with his hand firmly placed against the hilt of his blade.
For a moment he only stared at the stranger, unsure of what to make of the young man who was floating above the planet’s surface just as he had been. Briefly, he took his eyes off of the fiery haired male, his eyes catching the scorched rock that had small smolders emanating from it. The inquisitors, and all guardians really, were taught to use magic, though civilian use had required permission that was near unattainable to get. Overall, Carama was somewhat confused by the person’s friendly demeanor. He wasn’t convinced it wasn’t a trick. Eventually, his sharp eyes took notice of the boy’s ears. Could they be a simple deformity, or was he another agent from the beyond? The possibilities were endless.
“Greetings… I am Captain Carama,” he said, his tone was somewhat dull with a hint of suspicion that carried with his pause. “It is rather… odd… to see someone so far from civilization. Do you mind explaining to me what your purpose out here is?”
He wanted to ask more, to try to determine how the young man had learned the coveted spell that allowed him to defy gravity, and what had caused the rock below to smolder. In this case though, he decided to begin with an open ended question. Closed ended questions were more useful for trapping someone in a lie, but he didn’t have enough information to set such a trap yet.
His eyes watched the boy carefully. Even if he was donned in typical Konatsian attire, nothing about him seemed typical. His only fear was that he might be a friend to the king’s new advisors, many of them had the ear deformity. Then again, so had the corpses of the invaders that they had quelled. He had also seen servants of the Kashvar who had the same deformity... Freid Nietzo

[Thread PL: 20,906]
After having dealt with the boring buckethead's little introduction of the new 'leader' of this planet, a new problem arose for the little red riding droid. Boredom. God she forgot how dull the members of their group were, so far as to say that they lacked personality. SR-81 most assuredly was at fault in this one, but the other members of the group were mostly stoic and intimidating. Sure RED was kind of a bitch from time to time, but it seemed she was the only one in the group willing to relax and have whatever fun she could get. All work and no play makes for a very murdery android. Not wanting to subject others as her all business-oriented group members had better things to do, Rebecca Edolvein Dewitt sought some other company on this planet.
Leaving the city using her boosters, RED decided to pop on her internal scanner in order to see if there were any noteworthy people on this planet that she could converse with. Well, not the kind of conversing she did alongside SR-81 and Contagion, but legitimate conversation that doesn't end up with her killing them all and erasing the evidence. The initial findings of her scans were mostly fruitless as there were nothing but small fry and animals in the general vicinity. The further her scans went, however, she was able to pick up on two particular ki signatures, one of which being almost equal to her own battle power. Eyes flaring in excitement, the ginger haired android zoomed off in that general direction to see who the hell was as strong as her.
Arriving just as the initial two people had met, there were something odd about these two which nagged in her little data banks. Recalling her own data, she initiated a reverse image search on the both of them within her memory banks, and lo and behold she found what she was looking for. Although she wasn’t paying attention to his name or whatever he said, the one with the silverish hair seemed to be of some importance in the hierarchy of a warrior system that the thing known as Kasshvar or whatever had implemented. He was only half the strength of the other one, the actual person who piqued her interests.
This other person was also at the announcement that the good buckethead doctor made, but he remained rather inconspicious as he did a good job at making himself hidden aside from him popping out from the side of the crowd, which was how RED was able to see him in the first place. And she recalled no one of that power level back at the announcement, so he was intentionally hiding his own power. The biggest thing she just realizes about him was the fact that he had rounded ears rather than the pointed ears that pretty much every frickin’ citizen of this planet owned, which begged the question of what he actually was. But she was not the type to interrogate people, no no. She was just here currently to quench her own thirst of boredom.
Landing and shutting off her rocket boosters in her feet, she walks on over as she dusts of her red hood, saying with a friendly grin, “So what’s are a couple of swordspeeps like you doin’ around here? Also, thanks for introducin’ yourself Carama, as my name is RED. Hope ya don’t mind my intrusion as the two of ya seemed like fun folk!” With that said, her grin widened as she moved her hands behind her head as if she were laying down, elbows pointed towards the sky as her eyes were trained on the two of them.

Oh, fuck all kinds of space-duck. As the silver-haired man arrived and introduced himself, Freid remembered all too well where he had seen him - at that introduction of the new king of the planet and his cybernetic supporters. This man wasn't just part of the inquisition, he was their captain! Still, he just had to stay calm and friendly, and he could probably get out of this without getting beheaded. Hopefully. Probably. Maybe. But before he could even start to answer the inquisitor, a sudden voice from someone he had not sensed at all called out to them and startled the red-headed warrior enough to almost lose focus on his Air Step spell, making him lose a few feet of altitude as his eyes searched for the source... A little girl. A little girl that didn't give off ANY Ki at all... Great, so she was one of those mechanized beings? But she looked completely... normal, unlike some of those others that had been at the reveal of the new king. In fact, she looked more normal than a few Konatsians he knew.
"Good day to you two - my name's Freid Nietzo. Nice to meet you, Captain Carama, and you, RED." With a nod, the spellsword would begin descending from the sky slowly, manipulating the magic field that held him in the air to give him a somewhat soft landing, though he still almost stumbled over. He wasn't used to using this spell for more than a few seconds at best, since people freely flying through the sky tended to arouse the kind of suspicion nobody back home wanted. They weren't Kashvar, or Kashvar sympathizers, but how did you explain that to the inquisition?! Well, he'd better come up with an explanation for Carama or he'd be in trouble, he knew that much. Especially since the inquisition now worked with the new king, right? That could mean that this girl might just attack him, too.
"I'm just... traveling. My home village is quite the distance removed from Ocariin City, you see." explaining to both of them, Freid continued to have a friendly smile - he made no move towards his sword, though he could see that Carama would have little trouble with drawing his, apparently. "Though I certainly didn't expect the Inquisition out here in the middle of nowhere! Quite the surprise, really. I just carry this sword around for self-defense, you never know what might attempt to jump you out here, after all."
So far, so good. Don't act suspicious, try to be nice and accommodating, and get out of this without getting named a Kashvar and executed on the spot.

Denim Thread PL: 28,555 PL, Silk Thread PL: 7138 PL
Out in the middle of the dry wasteland three people began introductions among themselves with the possible threat of hostility hanging over all three of them. In the midst of this conversation, less then two hundred yards away a silver, oblong ship touched down on the planet's surface. Inside it a woman with lilac hair gazed out into the wilderness and smiled, "Well, I didn't expect to come back here, much less land here, but let's see if I can somehow find Plato." She stated to herself as strapped a bow and quiver to her back and used two pieces of long cloth to create a sling across the front of her body. She tied the them together and stood up in her usual red vest, yellow shirt, and white shorts and waited for a young woman behind her to step forward with a small baby girl in her arms.
This lady was about the other woman's height and wore her long, gray hair in a ponytail, had on a purple and maroon t-shirt and black spats over body frame. Her gray tail swished back and forth as the baby girl in her arms covered in a cloth giggled. This baby soon transferred to the other woman who set her in her sling and then stepped off the ship at its exit hatch. "Follow me and keep up..." She commanded. She could feel by stretching out her ki people were around and they were pretty strong, "...we may have company on this planet even though I'm only here to pick a dress that I left here."
The first woman introduced was named Denim and the second was a Saiyan-Ferrosian hybrid named Silk. Silk was somehow her daughter from the future and she was yet to be sure how Silk had come to the past. It wasn't really explained well, however, Silk seemed to state the Arcosian Empire ran things in whatever future she came from to a large extent. Denim dashed forward feeling awkward in her running pace for she carried a bow on her back, a baby on her front, and still had baby weight hugging her body after her newborn daughter Silk's birth. It was because of this Denim thought to come here, find some items she was missing, and think over her future daughter's sudden and strange arrival. If she was for some reason coming from the future there had to be bigger explanation to it; something even life threatening.
Denim would head towards the rocks the three signatures she sensed were near and feel her future daughter Silk quickly following behind her. She wasn't even a fourth of Denim's power yet she figured this woman was able to stay with her thanks to the strongly inherited genes of her father and her clearly trained body. She'd stop though about fifty feet from where an average sized teenager stood wielding a sword and was talking to what appeared to be a dark skinned, pointed ear alien and a young girl in a cloak.
Denim eyed them and whispered to her daughter, "Don't act, we don't know what they're doing and we can lie that we're passing through."
Silk grit her teeth and nodded. Her mother knew more about this world then she did, however, she hadn't fully realized they were going to somewhere so barren and rugged with colorful characters despite the fact she had spoken of the place with Denim during their flight here. It was definitely different then what she ever could have imagined for this girl had only ever been to Namek, the Arcosian home world, and Earth in her life time. She noticed Denim was smiling at the three people even though they were both clearly in their line of sight and Denim was in no way hiding her power. She didn't know she couldn't do that, however, Silk knew she couldn't hide her own for that matter. Denim took to standing in a neutral stance with her arms at her side and her body fully exposed to scrutinizing eye for sign of dangerous actions.

Carama felt a sense of unease as seemingly out of nowhere an adolescent in a red hood appeared. Fearing that he was being ambushed, he began to slide his sword from the hilt, until his memory caught up with him. The hooded figure was among one of Breech’s entourage, one of the more normal looking beings that had accompanied him. After realizing who she was, the tensity eased for the captain somewhat and he let the blade slid back into the hilt.
“Hello, RED. I was just investigating this area, we’ve had reports of kidnappings from settlements around these parts… we suspect the former rulers of this planet, the Kashvar are responsible,” Carama explained, though he wasn’t sure if RED was actually interested in his purpose. She seemed very relaxed, in an unnerving way. He decided it would be best to return to his duties.
“No one expects the inquisition,” Carama said in response to Freid. “But you say you are just traveling. From what village do you hail?”
Carama hoped to glean a detail of where the young man originated from. The fact that he could use magic without military training could mean a multitude of things. It could be as simple as an irresponsible guardian teaching things illegally, or it could be as sinister as the village having ties to the Kashvar. Carama had decided to hold off on accusations for now, he didn’t want to give the young man a hint of his thought process.
“It would be-” Carama began to say something, and then his eyes caught the arrival of a strange object in the sky. He had become more accustom to the sight recently, though the way that these vessels could move through the air and space was a mystery to him. It had to be more outsiders… part of him wished that all of these outsiders would pack up and go back to where they came from, though he knew it wasn’t a possibility in reality.
As the ship landed and several figures stepped out from the vessel, Carama turned his glance away from the orange haired boy and squinted.
“Friends of yours?” Carama asked RED, it was his hope that it wasn’t yet another group seeking to overthrow Konats. Given that one of them had what appeared to be a young child in their hands, he shrugged his shoulders and decided that it was likely not a threat. Still, if they were not with RED then it would need to be investigated further.

After having given her own introduction, she would listen to Fried introduce herself and actually give complete greetings to the both of them. RED, against her own will, had done the very slightest of curtsy's in return for the introduction, while muttering a curse under her breath. The curse wasn't directed anyone around them that were currently alive, but rather was directed towards the ghosts of those who once controlled RED, albeit for a couple minutes. Their programming still lingered inside of the red riding droid's head, having a mere 2% control over her functions. They were left for last as 1% belonged to the power output that she was able to have, which was time locked for some god damn reason; then the other 1% were just the miscellaneous actions she does that rarely occur. And since introductions only happen once, she saved that for one of the last programs she attempts to destroy through digital warfare inside her own mind.
Then Fried spoke about him 'travelling', which Red was able to pick up on the slight hesitation on his activities. Although she would agree that Ocariin city was a distance away, she had a feeling that this travelling was not the entire purpose as to why he was here. In fact, RED had half a mind to actually pursue this line of questioning, but Carama had to say something about an inquisition, saying it in a way in which she recognized because of one of those human jokes told all the time. She mouthed the word 'Spanish', although she knew not why, just knowing that it apparently fit so damn well with the word inquisition.
Now Carama having her full attention, Rebecca shrugged her shoulders as he spoke about his investigations. "Well, keep up the good work. I had an idea about it being those damn rebels who attacked the crowd during your new ruler's coming to power, but I really don't have a clue about finding these kidnapped people." Although saying that, she probably had an idea that it might be because of her, Contagion, and the giant bucket of bolts completely eradicating a temple, leaving an empty plot behind. No evidence was left behind, luckily for the android, but if this was a completely different issue, such as konatsians being forced into Breech's experiments rather than willingly signing up for the technology upgrades... Well, she would have a small stern talking with the bucket head scientist and his cohorts.
Then just as she was starting to relax once more, she hopped up a bit in surprise as an internal warning system was ringing off in her head. She turned around in the direction her internal scanning system was directing her toward, finding that there were two people heading for the location of the two konatsians. And using her zoom and enhance functions with her eyes, she was able to see that these two did not have pointed ears... Wait, upon closer inspection, there was a third one there, who was barely outputting any kind of ki output. Then Carama had to make what she could only guess as a witty retort, to which Red shook her head and blatantly blurted out, "Dunno who those three weirdo's were. Was assuming they were a friend of the other round eared person over here. Buuuuuut they're probably people who have no ties to this planet whatsoever, so I dunno why the hell they's here."

Denim didn't know why they were here either, oh wait, maybe she did but both ladies (her daughter and her) realized they were heading in the wrong direction. They needed to find someone with some sense in terms of magic so they could figure out their situation and based by what she could feel almost none of them them had the kinds of power levels she was looking for to say that they actually had magic save one. The young teen with fiery hair, who when she stretched out her ki sensing powers to encompass his location, found he had a solid 20K PL. The others were either weaker or really just weaker then her but because Denim had no time to waste she turned back in the direction she came from and dashed on out of there with her "kid" Silk on her heels trying to figure out now why she was running from such puny beings.
Denim simply said, "I don't want to interact with them that's all." And then, she went back to her own ship, started it up and moved it to another site on the planet.
OOC: I don't feel like continuing this thread with my character it's going to be getting pretty in-depth I think and I'd rather not spoil that with my character's sort-of-random appearance. So for now, Ciao! I will take Power Level for this thread when it concludes.

Great, the inquisitor wanted to know the name of his village... Even if he had not been facing an inquisitor, he'd have to think twice before answering to that with a honest answer. They weren't Kashvar, or Kashvar-sympathizers, but that was hard to explain when almost everyone at home used magic in one form or another, without anyone having any sort of license, official training or anything else of the sort. Thankfully, the arrival of some strange aliens was enough to distract everyone for a moment at least. Freid couldn't help but show some relief on his face as they departed as quickly as they arrived, though. "Well... that was odd. Our planet seems to attract more and more off-worlders."commenting while scratching the back of his head, his mind was still racing for a way out of this mess... Well, there was one possibility, especially since there were apparently Kashvar remnants in the area. That, or some other force kidnapping people. Either had to be stopped. "Well, I may have rounded ears, but I'm a Konatsian. My father was from some planet called Earth, but that doesn't change the fact that I was born on this planet and have never left it." A quick explanation for RED and possibly Carama, as he looked back at the man that had more people that hated him on the planet than most. How did he deal with that? It was quite impressive, really. "So anyway, there could be Kashvar remnants in the area? I'm quite glad I haven't run into those, then. They never knew I existed when I was a child, and I'd like to keep it that way... Though something has to be done about them, or whoever else might be behind it. Is there something I can do to help, captain Carama? I've been born with magic - maybe that'll help." It was better for everyone here to assume that Freid was a freak of nature than to tell them the full truth. Sure, he had been born with magic energy... But how to actually use it effectively had still been something he was actively taught. He wasn't a full-blown natural sorcerer, but he'd rather have the Inquisition after himself possibly than have them stomp right into his home. --------- OOC: Sorry, I somehow missed that it was my post. Carama remained distracted for a moment as he watched the newfound visitors disappear almost as soon as they had came, inside of their magical metal machine. For a moment, he thought to give chase… why else would they flee the area so quickly? Alas, it wasn’t something that he could hope to catch, and he had other matters to attend to. They weren’t friends of RED’s, but she had mentioned that they had the same ears as Freid. It was strange, perhaps all of these round eared strangers were planning to migrate to the planet. Maybe that was what the new shadow governance had in mind for Konats, but it was hard to tell. Either way, he would have to tread carefully.
“We desire peace for Konats at any price, and we have made hunting down those that challenge stability a top priority,” Carama promised. “We believe the Kashvar are nearly dealt with, so we have been dedicating more resources towards searching for these rebel groups,”
His eyes then wandered back to Fried, whom he had almost forgotten was there for a moment. He wasn’t sure he should really continue discussing inquisitor priorities in front of this anomalous being, whom claimed to be Konatsian yet had rounded ears. He noticed that he hadn’t told him the village he had come from. He was withholding information.
“You were born with magical talent, you say?” Carama replied. “You were very lucky, if the Kashvar had known of your presence in childhood they might have…”
Carama stuck a hand out and then shrugged, deciding not to finish his sentence. It was still odd for him to think of the Kashvar as adversaries, he had begrudgingly served them for most of his adult life. Bringing up what the inquisitors would have done to acquire someone with raw magical talent from birth on the behalf of the Kashvar was probably not the best subject… still, it was another unknown that Carama needed to address to figure out Freid.

Watching as the two strangers had landed on the planet, she kept her gaze on them as they left just as fast as they arrived. Feeling quite dumbfounded by their actions, she couldn't help but say under her breath, "What fuckin' weirdos." Seriously! It was completely weird to land on a planet and head towards a group of people, only to turn around at the last minute and do some other random things that do not involve RED and company. If anything, RED wanted to go over to them and give them a couple of new holes for freaking out the crew. Then again, giving them holes to spurt blood out of would invite suspicion from both Fried and Carama.
Her attention now back on both Fried and Carama, she just stood idly by as she listened to the two Konatsians muse about the weird visitors who came and left. Spacing out a small bit, she only focused back in as Fried had mentioned to the android about how he got rounded ears from the human side of his family. Eyes lighting up a bit, she lets out a small whistle before saying with a smile, "Thaaaaat explains it. You ain't full Konatsian. That's cool my dude, seriously. I would have a little more pride in my own Earth origins if not for the people who created me.... And no, buckethead did not create me in the slightest. If I was, I'd be three times my size, have more visible robot bits, and not be wearing a dress like I am now, heheheeh."
Letting herself grow silent, she learned of how Konatsians of magic orientation were apparently hunted by the Kashvar. Or at least she thought. She shook her head a bit as she had to ask, "Me being a newcomer to this damn planet and all, I don't know what the hell is up with magic users and the like. So, would you explain if magic is common or not? Because if it is common enough for Fried to naturally learn, why would he be persecuted by that Kishfar? So much so to put the Kibosh on them! What was so damned scary about the magic users?"
Sorry for the delay, I had many other threads that I got myself into PLUS dealing with some RL stuff made me just bluh.

Carama seemed a bit creepy in how he spent extra attention on Freid's magical talents, causing the hybrid to back off slightly in the air with a nervous smile. So his lie was bought, but hopefully that wouldn't get him into greater trouble... The redhead had no intentions of having to run for his life from the Inquisition today. RED thankfully distracted Freid a bit from his thoughts of creating a new top-speed record for inter-atmosphere flights on Konats... So she was from Earth? His expression lit right back up - that was pretty great! And she was not the creation of Dr. Breech, which was interesting. So she had joined him of her own free will... She really was just another person, even if she was a person made out of metal.
"So you're from Earth - I want to go there at some point!" Freid was about to ask the android a bit more about the planet she came from, but she made her frustrations about magic and its origins pretty clear. Well, he wasn't a historian or anything, but he knew a little bit about it at least. Changing his flight spell slightly, the young man landed near the android.
"Well, magic has been part of this planet since... pretty much forever. People like me who are born with the ability to use it are very rare - and the Kashvar liked experimenting on anything remotely rare. And they tended to use the Inquisition to get what they wanted, always." The hybrid shot a sideways glance to Carama, clearly not trusting the darker skinned Konatsian in the slightest. Yeah, the Kashvar and Plato were gone... But he wasn't, and he had acted on their orders willingly.
"People like Captain Carama learn magic through study, and they're the most common mages. Combat mages like the Inquisition aren't too common, the Kashvar didn't like people having power... And Plato was, well, Plato. He wasn't really any better than them, no matter what he said he'd do. But people that can do things like Mind Link spells or enough to light a kitchen stove, that's the most common. A lot of people on Konats can do that. And as much as I hate to admit it, the Kashvar had good reason to try to capture natural sorcerers like me."
With a gesture of his hand, Freid pointed at the blasted apart pieces of rock he had aimed at. "That was me doing some controlled magic testing to make sure I wasn't overloading myself by not using it for too long. Imagine what would happen if a born mage went out of control... The only thing worse would be a beast of the Kashvar out of control. Or both combined."

Carama shook his head at RED when she had implied that the Kashvar had persecuted those with magical abilities.
"It isn't so much that they were persecuting magic use, as it was that they too an interest in it. They considered us lower life forms, and so they did all manner of experiments upon our people... the most popular being implanting beasts inside of them. They did not like seeing exceptional talent from our people though, so those truly talented in magic were always under a close watch" Carama said, and then eyed Fried who he could sense was uncomfortable around them. "As bad as they were, they saved this planet from destruction once before... i'm glad they are gone, but worry about what the future holds,"
