”Will you just make a move already? It’s been almost half an hour,” Pennini sighed as she stared at Gete from across the small wooden table they were both sitting at. A chess board sat between them; its pieces having been methodically slid around it for the past couple of hours. ’Hush. I’m still thinking,’ the black cat thought back to her, refusing to tear his eyes away from the board.
It wasn’t often that the pair sat down together to engage in such a mundane activity. The sandstorm that was currently raging outside of the hut they occupied was what brought the idea on. The slowly setting sun was blocked out, ruining the cat’s ability to hang out on the roof and bask in its heat. The witch knew better than to start mixing any concoctions in her cauldron when she couldn’t step outside if the fumes got too intense. It was like their version of a rainy day.
Finally, the cat extended one of his paws and pushed one of his white rooks forward. 'Your move.’ Pennini nodded and continued to survey the playing field as the sand outside beat mercilessly against the hut’s wooden walls. Despite all of the cracks and crevices in the structure, not a single grain of sand was able to slip inside. It was just one of the many, many perks of knowing one’s way around a magic spell or two. The witch couldn’t even imagine being able to live out in the desert without it. Speaking of magic...
Pennini snapped her fingers. A small tea cup and matching saucer appeared in front of her, filled with Earl Grey tea. ”So... How long do you think this storm is going to last? It’s been at it for a while,” she asked before taking a sip of her tea. ’Who knows? Just focus on the game,’ Gete replied flatly. ”As always, your powers of conversation are the light of my life.”
The witch took hold of her single remaining knight and moved it to the front and a bit to the left. ”Check!” she declared proudly. ”I’ve been meaning to ask after all of these years. Can cats sweat?” A grin crossed her face as she taunted her companion. Gete didn’t even look up at her as he gave her a stern answer. ’No.’ Pennini let out a sigh. Well, she tried. Her gaze wandered to one of the sets of closed window shutters on the wall as she took another sip of her tea. It would probably be a while before she could make her next move...

"What in the hell made me think coming out here would be a good idea?"Namorel yelled to himself as he trudged forwards, he had been in this desert for hours now and he couldn't even remember what he was here for. At first his trip was rather insignificant, his typical gut wrenching, and sweat tearing trip into the arid wastes that he oh so despised. He had actually prepared for travel this tiem, taking note of the various oasis that littered the vastness of the landscape. He had made to is second personally recorded checkpoint when the wind picked up, strong enough to throw the sand in his face and easily make him lose track of the direction he was originally travelling in. He had no idea that the desert contained a weather format as drastic as this, with the sand blocking the sunlight from hitting him however, he was saved from the dehydration tha had come so close to killing him on two other occasions. That was the sequence of events that brought the namekian to the instance he trudged in now. The little sunlight that did filter down on him was beginning to dissipate and he was growing rather desperate, turning his scouter on and shouting in irritation, his ki would flare up and he would launch himself forward in a straight line, uncaring of whatever stood in his way, only seeking to escape the bullshit that was the desert. Shortly into his flight however he spotted a moderately sized shadow amongst the sand that was circling around him. It was barely visible int he shadow oof the sunset, but he could make it out enough to begin reeling himself back to avoid hitting it. Grazing the sand and coming to a screeching halt directly in front of it as the sand did not prevent his slide. Rising to his feet he would take a deep breath before yelling into the darkened sky. "YOu know... fuck the desert!!"

”Hmm?” Pennini lifted her head as she heard some kind of muffled commotion outside. Mind you, it was difficult to pick up any specific sounds other than the howling wind and the constant barrage of sand smashing up against the walls. ”Gete? Do you hear something out there?” she asked curiously while looking at the boarded up door.
The cat was still staring intently at his remaining pieces on the board while he gave an answer. ’Yes. We’re in the middle of a sand storm. I hear lots of things out there. Sand, wind, rocks, tumbleweeds, just about everything else getting tossed around out there...’ The witch shrugged her shoulders and took another sip of her tea. She supposed he was right. Everything out there was incredibly loud. She couldn’t go investigating every little bit of commotion. Her magic was able to keep the sand out of all the nooks and crannies in the hut’s structure, but it wouldn’t do much good if she felt like opening one of the windows just because she felt like peeking outside.

"Fuck this sand..."Namorel shouted before lowing his head. He turned to inspect the hut he had landed near. The structure didn't seem too impressive, it merely looked like thatch and wood strewn together without any gaps in the wood or reed, whichever actually composed the materials. He would do two laps around the building before coming to what appeared to be a door. He would take his hand and do as he had seen some humans do on this planet, tapping his claws against the door in a tune he had heard before, something to distinguish from the sound of the sandstorm as it had another particular tune it seemed to follow. He hoped that whoever inside may hear this sound and distinguish it from the storm rather than just ignoring it as a side effect oof the sand.

The witch narrowed her eyes at the door as something tapped against it. That wasn’t just random debris pounding against the door. Pennini was sure of it. The rhythm was far too steady. ”Who in their right mind would be wandering around in weather like this?” she mumbled to herself in astonishment before slowly rising out of her seat.
’What are you doing? You can’t seriously be thinking of opening the door and letting that storm in here, right?’ the cat’s voice snapped in her mind. However, Pennini simply brushed off his concern. ”As it just so happens, I am. I was getting bored anyway. You take far too long to decide what to do on your turn.” ’That’s how the game is supposed to be played!’
Ignoring Gete’s protests, Pennini reached for the door and pulled it open, giving the black cat barely enough time to scurry beneath one of the bookshelves. She was immediately met with a harsh gust of wind that blew into the room. The chess pieces were blown about the room, books were knocked off the shelves, and sand began to line the floor. The witch squinted her eyes until she could just barely make out the silhouette of a figure standing in the doorway. Was that... a Namekian? It was odd enough that one had ventured into the desert where there was so little water to be found, but in weather like this?!
Pennini motioned for the Namekian to enter the hut, prepared to slam the door shut as soon as he was inside.

Namorel stood silently as he waited for someone to attend the door of the structure that rested before him. The storm raged at his back, sand whipping around his head and torso, while blanketing his feet with the grainy soil. He was slowly learning to despise this environment more and more as he was hit by random debris. He however kept a straight face for whomever may open the door to greet him. Little did he know that he would be met by peculiar individuals inside. Instead the thought on his mind was escaping this chaos that was ensuing around him and to escape it soon.
"Please excuse my sudden intrusion, but this storm happened to pick up in the worst of moments."
When the door opened he saw a human female standing in the door, she motioned for him to enter and he did so quickly as to avoid letting the storm ruin the interior of her home too much. He spoke with a rather deep voice, akin to most namekians as compared to typical human tone. He would flex his arms slightly as he spoke, but beyond that await a reply from the human woman. Beyond the minor chaos caused by the wind whipping inside the local environment of the structure seemed rather neat and surprisingly high enough for him to stand up all the way. From what he could see on the outside he did not expect any of that.

”You don’t say,” Pennini commented as she forced the door shut. The debris from the outside, as well as the witch’s belongings that the wind had mercilessly whipped about, all fell to the floor. She briefly looked over the room and let out a sigh. What a mess... This was no way to receive a guest. Oh well, at least it was merely a minor inconvenience. That’s what magic was far.
The witch snapped her fingers and watched as the books and baubles all floated back to their proper places on the shelves. The broom in the corner sprang to life and began sweeping up the sand on the floor into a small pile. She took a seat back at the table and offered the Namekian the chair that had been on Gete’s side during their game of chess. The cat wouldn’t be coming out of his hiding place any time soon. He was probably moody about Pennini’s decision to open the door and ruin their game. Gete would get over it in due time. Besides, her decision had saved him from certain defeat, which she would have likely rubbed in his face for the rest of the day. She had done the cat a favor as far as she was concerned.
”So, what brings a Namekian all the way out to Fortuneteller’s Desert? Sand storm or not, I was always under the impression that hot, dry deserts weren’t exactly comfortable for your species,” she spoke lightly, trying to make some small talk.

Only moments after entering the hut Namorel watched as the various goods and instruments that had been scattered by the wind floated back into place and as the broom itself began managing the sand and dust on teh floor and such. IT became rather apparent that this woman was some sort or or variety of magic user, perhaps a witch or wizardress. Namorel was unsure as to the proper term, on Namek all magic users were classified under the Dragon Caste and give no other proper title in regards to that ability on any other instance. But this variety of magic was of a more intriguing type than the healing and typical telekinesis he was used to seeing the Dragon Caste members use on Namek, seeing as this woman's broom sprung to life in a sense to almost consciously sweep itself as deemed necessary. This sort of magic was beyond his realm of understand with the little knowledge he had on the realm of magic itself. "I find treks through the desert a good way to train my endurance, seeing as my species rather desperately relies on water to survive."The namekian spoke as a response, accepting the seat offered to him in the process as well. While this statement of his was true, it was not the full truth; he honestly had no idea as to why he was in the desert, rather just finding himself drawn to the middle of this wasteland with no real intention or plan as to exploration or training and whatever plans he may have previously had were dissipated now with the introduction of the sand storm to him and all others in the desert as well.

So he had chosen to travel through the Fortuneteller’s Desert as a means of training then? In that case, it was highly likely that Pennini’s unexpected guest was a warrior. That was no surprise. The era that they lived in was chock full of them, all pushing the boundaries of what they were physically capable of for one reason or another.
”If it’s your endurance that you seek to strengthen, then perhaps luck is one your side to get caught up in this sand storm. I would imagine it would be a far better test of what you can physically handle than if you were to traverse the desert on a normal afternoon,” the witch commented as she summoned another cup of piping hot tea to replace the one that the wind had knocked over. ”My, my, my... Where are my manners? You sit across from Pennini, witch of the sands and provider of shelter for weary folks travelling through the desert. Sometimes I even allow said travelers to leave without boiling them into a hearty stew. Namekians tend to be a bit bitter for my tastes, so no worries for you there.” She displayed a rather toothy grin to the Namekian as she finished her introduction with a bit of humor.
The woman snapped her fingers, causing a large bottle of water to appear on the table. ”What is it that they call you, stranger? And would your endurance training permit you to hydrate? I’ve never dabbled in any sort of physical training myself, so any common rules that might surround it have completely alluded me.”

"Actually this... sand storm? It seems to be more of an impedance on heat endurance training than a benefit. If I wanted to deal with high winds I would have gone to Yanzhibut Heights."The namekian joked to the human. He wasn't kidding however, the winds and blotting out of the sun only made his intended endurance training less effective in every sense of the training itself. The human shared her name as Pennini, and apparently she was a witch of all things, the magic Namorel witnessed in her presence however made this a confirmation on the matter of what he had witnessed. It was a peculiar name, but the names of the humans were already obviously peculiar compared to his own and he accepted this as fact. She then asked for his name, he was unsure on whether to reply or not, but saw it as the most appropriate thing to do. Shortly after she also offered him water, hoping it would not impede on his training. "I am Namorel, and as far as the training, seeing as the dya is essentially over; as is my training to be honest."The namekian replied to the witch, accepting the water with relief, the desert was becoming a tad easier to traverse, but it still drained energy from him ans water was one o those delicacies he learned to appreciate even more at realizing deserts did in fact exist on the planet Earth, they worked as a sort of double edged sword, both offering him endurance while almost killing him in the progress, but it was no where as bad as that completely useless trap water.

”I can see where the sun being blocked out could put a damper on trying to endure the heat. Perhaps I could just be unbelievably optimistic, but I don’t see why you couldn’t change your plans and hone your body to endure a sandstorm instead. You’de be miserable either way,” Pennini mused as she took a sip of her tea. ”Then again, I am no warrior. What would I know of the subject? Don’t mind this old woman blatantly speaking her mind on such things.”
The witch then noticed a furry black tail poking out from underneath one of the bookshelves. She pointed a finger at it and watched her broom attempt to sweep it up. This earned her a hiss from the unhappy cat that it belonged to. ”How long are you going to mope under there, Gete? You had no chance of winning even if I had let the game play out.” Pennini was met with another hiss before a small box was flung from the cat’s hiding spot. It lightly hit the side of her foot.
Pennini eyed the small box curiously before a spark of curiosity made her eyes light up. Her ungrateful companion had assaulted her(if you could call it that) with a box of mustache chalk. She picked up the box and turned her attention back to Namorel. ”Don’t mind that grumpy old cat. He’s just a sore loser,” she began as she placed the small box in front of her on the table. ”However, he did give me a bit of an idea. What I have here in this box is a fun little concoction that my predecessor devised. They’re sticks of chalk that cause you to sprout facial hair if you draw on your upper lip with them. Since you appear to be done with your training, I was wondering if you would be interested in participating in a little experiment. Care to see if one of these would allow a Namekian to grow a mustache?”
She opened the box to show him that it was indeed filled with chalk. Obviously she couldn’t make Namorel try it out if he really didn’t want to, but she would be disappointed if he turned her down.
