Namek was quite a bit better than what Habana had expected, perhaps the views of the world from an average saiyan’s perspective would paint it as a bit ‘boring’ but once she’d departed her encounter with Riku and took some time to experience the world she found it quite pleasant, it was a far cry from the state of Vegeta as while the area’s around the Capital were fairly nice everything beyond was a bit desolate, whether it was the wastes that acted as home to a variety of misshapen awful saiba-creatures or the ruins of the Tuffle cities that were at best decrepit reminders of an ancient war and at worst literal deathtraps constantly expelling Destron Gas. Namek in a stark contrast was covered in life, and while color wise it was a bit same-y the blues and greens were at least pleasant.
The planet’s wilds were occasionally broken up by the various villages that dotted the landscape, so far Habana and her squad had avoided the majority of the villages yesterday and had only just begun interacting with them this morning a bit of information gathering and meeting with the locals, they had spent the first night on the planet utilizing the ships for rest as it had been a long day and Habana had not exactly been in the mood for the potentially tense situation that might arise from trying to acquire a place to sleep after literally threatening the leader of the warrior caste.
She sighed at that though, it was INFURIATING that Riku held such a position on Namek, it had pretty much single handedly been the reason that he was not facing some form of justice at this very moment either in the form of judgment of his soul in whatever lay after death or in the confines of Knutts. But because he’d somehow weaseled himself into a position of power on Namek she had to play things carefully, it would be VERY bad to so swiftly destabilize the already tenuously stable Namekian’s
It was actually a bit startling how unstable Namek was at the moment though truth be told it was not as if it was unfair for the planet to be in a bit of disarray as after all only a few month’s ago Namek did not even actually EXIST it had been obliterated by Earth’s current ‘President’ the former Azure Administrator though by the reports he’d had a distinctly different color scheme at the time.
Namek and it’s people had been revived by some clearly mystical means and unfortunately it seemed that when this had happened it had not actually brought -everyone- back, Namek had come back with no Guru, no leader to the Warrior caste, the only head of a Namekian clan that seemed to have survived the destruction was the master of the Mazoku though now he too had fallen.
The Namekian’s she and the others had spoken to indicated that since the planet’s revival none had stepped up to properly take the position of Guru with a few elders taking the position on until such a time a proper one could be found, it was of course a difficult one to fill where Earth elected its leaders by popularity and Vegeta by strength Namek was lead by a spiritual leader generally a wise and often elderly figure, the trouble being of course that it seemed some of the wiser and elderly Namekians had accepted their deaths and remained in the afterlife.
In spite of the lack of spiritual leadership the Namekian’s had managed to produce a leader for the other major Clan, the Warrior Caste, a young but capable Namekian warrior that was if the stories were correct had been the son of a former leader of the Warriors, he had however either perished or vanished after Xylo’s attempted coup of Namek and the battle that had ensued thus leading to Riku’s ascension to the position and of course that circled back to Habana’s ever intensifying frustration. He had been a student of the previous leader Paengi and being the strongest of Paengi’s students he had been made leader.
Habana was rather interested in the Warrior Clan, they seemed to have an interesting balance between seeking a wise but also genuinely powerful leader, it made her curious to see more specifically what the process by which a warrior could ascend to that level and what the criteria for it was if they shared such information, clearly they were open to the idea of non-Namekian’s taking the position as Riku presently held it but she had to wonder to what extent they would allow this? Jala had not been able to pull particularly extensive files on Riku when they had looked into the other members of the squad after their defection which indicated he had grown up elsewhere, perhaps he’d spent more time on Namek than just his time training under the former Warrior caste leader.
Running her hands through her hair Habana let out a long sigh “It’s probably best if you don’t dwell on it too much Bana” her mother's voice called from behind her prompting Habana to tilt her head back to see the older warrior staring down at her, grinning up at her Habana shrugged “I can’t help it, my instincts are at war, half of me just wants to do it NOW break him in half and be done with it but the sensible part of me knows it's far too complicated to be solved like that right now. I need to wait it out and either let him show his true colors or take him to Knutts.” Habana said with a sigh, perhaps once Zucceta learned of a traitor being imprisoned on Knutts she’d put out an order for execution, she had been quite eager to have the traitors taken down as well. But then again perhaps it would just be better to let him rot in Knutts, why allow the traitor the opportunity to move on to whatever was next if anything? The only real danger that placing him in Knutts posed was the fact that there was a chance he could eventually break out.
But then again was that even really a ‘danger’ sure he’d inevitably be a bit stronger from the troubles Knutts posed to its prisoners but he was already leagues behind her, Habana felt certain that she could handle him if he broke free and THEN it would be time to put him down if he proved himself incapable of being contained easily. Habana grinned to herself at the thought, it was a good plan it allowed justice to be brought to Riku in a proper manner forcing him to face the consequence of betraying the Empire and eventually she might even get a chance to exact the more direct vengeance she sought.
“You seem a bit more confident in your decision now Bana, I’d almost expected you to do as you seemed to intend, get him to start a brawl and take him down as soon as possible.” Jala said her eyebrow raised curious what had changed for Habana since their encounter with Riku “I was caught up in the heat of the moment, I’m a bit more clear minded now, killing him now won't actually change what happened and if he’s done any good for Namek I suppose he at least deserves the chance to live out his days in Knutts, with any luck if he ever does make the fool choice to break out he’ll be more capable of giving me a good fight, as it stands beating him wouldn't even take any real effort.”
Jala smiled and nodded “You’ve changed, a few months ago and a decision like this might not have gone the same way. It’s good though, you’re more willing to see a bigger picture” Jala stated earning a shrug from Habana, she’d not thought much about how much she had changed since before the invasion, a lot of it probably had to do with being named Commander and throwing herself into the job intent on doing it as best as she could.
“So what’s the plan? We’ve still got a few days until your reunion” Jala questioned deciding to change the subject a bit something Habana was pleased with “The parts to complete the training facility should be coming in shortly so we’ll wrap up the work on the chamber and then head into one of the villages to give the locals the heads up, with any luck word will spread and Namek will see a boon in the quality of its warriors, I imagine that Pin and Mayze’s efforts here on Namek have done a fair amount to create some positivity between the Empire and Namek but this will hopefully be a real show that we’re not just here because of legends of magical wish balls, we’re here to help” Habana said with a nod glancing over in the distance, she could make out the outline of the facility from where they had landed the pods and the Eclipse, it was a fairly large building all things considered as it was designed to ideally be a place of training for many warriors, it had NOT been particularly easy to get it all set up but the help from other members of the Empire had sped things along quite nicely.
“Sounds like a solid plan to me” Jala said with a nod before her scouter began blinking indicating a priority call, pressing the side of the scouter Jala exchanged a few brief words with the person on the line before turning her attention back to Habana “Looks like the part’s are here I gave them the facility’s location so one of us at the very least should head that way” “We’ll both go, Im definetly going to need a hand getting it set up, I’ll give Gin a call to get his ass over there as well.”
With that Habana tapped her scouter a few times to give the hybrid’s scouter a call “Gin, I need you to head over to the facility, the gravity part’s are in and you’ve got the best technical knowhow of us all” Habana stated her statement was followed by a brief pause though she could hear some sound in the backgroun “Yes Commander, I uh.. The only thing is that would require me to leave Akushi unattented and he’s trying to flirt with the Namekian’s again.. Hes not done anything TOO bad yet and they either dont get it or seem a bit amused but im not so sure about leaving him alone” “Hrm.. Let him know I expect him to keep himself in line but otherwise it should be fine, hes smart enough to know not to do anything that will get him in trouble” at least she HOPED he was, generally Akushi towed the line but the part-Heran did occasionally attempt to push his boundaries though it mostly just seemed to be an effort to see exactly what WERE his boundaries .
“Yes mam” was Gin’s prompt response to which Habana cut off the call, a look to Jala prompted them to take to the air in the general direction of the facility, as they approached they saw the incoming Empire ship as well emblazoned with the logo of one of the equipment dealers that Habana had made contact with during her time as Commander the effort had unfortunately not yielded the discounts on equipment that she had been hoping but affiliation with the Empire HAD brought on expedited shipping of equipment which was pleasant enough.
With the arrival of Gin the trio made quick work of bringing the equipment into the facility itself, with Habana doing the heavy lifting and Jala and Gin doing the organization of where the parts needed to be put they would make quick work of setting up the gravity chamber inside the main training room, with the upgrades finally in place it was all just a matter of testing the gravity and other training simulation functions of the facility as well as of course actually getting the word out that the facility was open and read.
Exiting the facility Habana would turn on her heels to look up at the building, grinning to herself as she looked over the name she’d given the place, it was not one she’d discussed with anyone outside of Jala as she’d hoped to make it a surprise for her friend, without whom this facility would likely not exist.
