The bronze Arcosian mentally rolled his eyes at the speech that Polara was giving to Friion concerning her fighting abilities. Does she have to narrate everything to everyone? he briefly wondered before observing the power levels of the two as the weighted cloak was removed from the Friion Force Leader. He had a mild advantage against her in terms of power alone, but that advantage could also potentially be a source of overconfidence.
Although as the spar began, with Friion on the offensive and Polara on the defensive, Abzerute noted that if the male held confidence in his abilities, it was well founded. As to be expected of the Force's commanding officer. Now, how would the resurfaced military officer respond to the Force's assault? She had to have some sort of plan after having given the initiative to her opponent.
He wondered briefly if either of them would be pushed into using their transformed states, and if so... which one would be the first to crack under the pressure to do so? He was slightly leaning towards Polara being the first one to crack if he was a betting Arcosian. The power gap between them was negligible at only five thousand units, according to his Scouter, but it was still there. And judging from how she presented herself and reacted to his questions the last and first time they had met, she may not be the cool collected being that she tried to present herself as.

Polara stayed calm and cool, the sudden power of Friion did nothing to her. Despite his rising power, she remained quiet and in her defensive state. Suddenly, a hook came in towards her, to which her body twisted to avoid it. The tail whip struck her hip, the female quickly moving to grasp the tail. Should she be successful, she would start to spin while still holding on. Her plan was to discombobulate Friion, and if it had been successful she would throw him against the ki dampening barrier and follow up charging with a tail swipe aimed at the legs and a feint via punch aiming for his face.
If the plan worked and the feint allowed the whip to hit, she'd try to wrap her tail around his leg and slam him down onto the ground. Her hands were in a position to attempt to block any counterattacks, hovering backwards and preparing for a counterstrike by the normal-colored male. Her hip slightly stung; the tail whip didn't feel all that pretty, yet she refused to bow down just yet. There was no way she was going to be the first one to transform if she could help it, but she was VERY interested in Friion's abilities.. considering her hip was stinging like all hell.

Feeling a flush of air resistance against his fist told Friion all he needed to know. He'd thrown the feint and Polara had dodged it, which led to him crashing his tail into her form; the blow landed upon her hip in a stinging lash, but he hadn't expected what came next. It seemed her reflexes were nothing to scoff at as his opponent grasped the offending appendage and whirled swiftly, hurling him through the air above the surface of the training room floor. Sailing backward, he knew he had to buy himself time to right his position. ''Impressive'', his thoughts began. ''Then again, i'm sure she's tried the same tactic before. Still, her combat reflexes are sharper than i'd have first given her credit for. Fair enough. I'll have to get a bit creative myself then.'' As he rocketed backward, he would form one fist into an open palm, outstretching it from his body before firing a few basic ki blasts her way as his eyes settled on her advancing form. With little purpose other than to slow her down, he would tuck and roll backwards after a quick check over his shoulder, snapping quickly to rest his gaze on her again just as his body reached the low-humming energy dampening barrier. Planting his feet against the construction just in time for her lash to whip against his leg, he would take the punch to the jaw with a grimace, a feint as it were. The lash definitely hurt more than the strike did, but the way her tail coiled ever so slightly made him wary of what would have happened if not for his last-minute maneuvering. Coiling his tail around his waist, he would suddenly kick off of the back wall, the struck leg beginning to bruise and sting while the punch left a small scuff across his cheek which had formed rather quickly. Striking knees first, he would attempt to drive them into her upper body to create a little breathing space with a heavy blow; if they were blocked, he would opt to pry around her guard with a punch to either side of her head to jostle her senses, attempting to sneak them through her occupied guard against his legs. In either case, he would fully extend his legs afterward to attempt to boot her back toward the center of the arena with his improvised aerial stomp, where he could begin his offensive anew. His thoughts were crossed; on one hand, he wondered what the Emperor was making of this display so early on. On the other hand, Polara had gone strangely silent. Was she analyzing his abilities after so quick an exchange? It certainly seemed like it. She didn't seem foolish enough to count a match on the first exchange, however. He'd elected to leave his tail out of the equation for now, and more importantly, make it difficult for Polara to use it against him again. She was more clever than she'd first let on.

The bronze Arcosian Emperor smirked slightly as he watched the exchange of blows between the two commanding officers of the military forces. They were both utilising creative tactics, taking full advantage of the others biology as well as their own. The techniques involving the tails would prove useful when facing against Saiyans and other species with similar appendages. The fact that both of them appeared to be taking stock of the other from just their first exchange, analysing their opponents reaction times, adapting their strategy for how to proceed with this fight, yes it was a good step in the right direction.
Then there was also the fact that neither of them had elected to transform as of yet in order to gain the real upper hand yet in this little spar. His Scouter kept a close bead on the two combatants power levels, just in case their transformations were somewhat more subtle than the usual state of affairs whenever an Arcosian transformed, or if they decided to use some other method of power up. He did wonder if either of them held any knowledge of any techniques to do just that... it would be interesting if they did, so that he could analyse the pros and cons of such a technique for his own use, if he so decided to learn such a technique himself.

Polara was no longer focusing on Abzerute, rather focused on fighting her opponent. The singular mindset opened up abilities to study her temporary foe, yet he suddenly sprung back towards her and she barely had time to attempt to deflect the attack by using her tail to whip towards his face. There was no air was knocked out of her, and she stumbled backward thanks to the aerial stomp however. Attempting to shake herself out of it, she flew back at Friion only to attempt jumping over his head and wrapping her tail around his neck as she went.
If the tail wrap worked, she'd attempt to smash Friion directly into the ground face-first, coiling tightly around his neck. Thanks to no need for air, the attempted maneuver to wind the general failed, get there was a faint crack in the bio-gem on her chest. She knew Friion was trying to get his tail out of the way; as she'd used it against him previously. Sixty years in the military seemed to work in her favor, despite the difference in the strength of the two.

Damage or no damage, Friion's assault had created some of the distance he'd sought after. Polara defended against his assault better than he thought she would have, blocking the most major of the blows even though he managed to push her back to create a bit of room to breathe and think. Just as he began to re-posture himself into a combat stance, Polara would fling herself toward him. Using what of the very little room he had left to back up and try to witness her plan, he would catch the faint glint of a crack in the bio-gem placed on her chest. He'd quickly renew his focus on her assault. He was a moment too late, and her tail snatched its way around his throat. Normally, most other beings would panic in such a situation; his limited space to move and maneuver with his back to the wall was indeed a cause for concern, and even more so when Polara decided to use a creative grapple to try and slam him against the floor and bounce him off the tile face first. He felt his chin contact the hard flooring but was able to catch himself before the biggest of the impact, his eyes only inches away from the floor's surface. With his hands and feet placed into a shock, dampening sprawl, he would turn sharply to brace his wrist against her tail. He had a plan, and hopefully he could turn her tail against her like she'd done to him. He was intending on taking this fight to the sky at a midpoint between the ceiling and floor of the training quarters. Turning his wrist into her tail to weigh down on it, he would attempt to quickly and forcefully grasp it to reel her in. If he were successful, he would quickly meet her upon her arrival with a hard, lashing kick to her rib cage, aimed at an upward angle to hopefully not only break her contact but to send her careening into the air. His own twist with her tail coiled around his neck combined with not only his pull but his opportunity to spring his striking leg from its sprawled position on the ground as a kick-off of additional force and leverage would have made the kick lash from his form faster than his body would usually allow on its own, but that didn't guarantee a thing. If he'd find himself successful in knocking her away, his aura would spike briefly as he would blast from the floor right after her on her same trajectory, then attempt to pummel against her defenses whilst creating distance between his back and the dampening wall with a blistering flurry of punches meant more to pressure and push back than to deal serious damage. He'd slip shots in where he could get them if she allowed it, but she'd proven very quickly she was no slouch in offensive or defensive combat situations. He'd keep his tail coiled for now and well out of her reach. ''It seems she's comfortable fighting at grappling range. Maybe I just have to resort to in-fighting past and inside her seemingly patient defensive space to upset her tactic.''

Polara felt a small satisfaction of the other general's chin smashing onto the floor; eyes narrowed in concentration as he responded via reeling her in by the tail. The barbs on the end of her tail would attempt to slice Friion's arm, as the general pulled her legs to her chest letting Friion reel her in, then infusing her legs with ki she attempted to deliver a heavy kick to the other Arcosian's nose. The attempted kick was blocked by her arm, but a soft crack noise would sound from the bio-gem on her right arm cracked.
Hopefully the kick would leave Friion stunned enough to deliver yet another kick, except this kick was going for the bio-gem that crowned the male's head. If two of her bio-gems had cracked; she hoped to leave a good crack. The sharp pieces on her bone armor on her bootlike fixtations would hopefully leave a cut or encourage a crack to form. If Friion let go of her tail, she'd slip away and cross her arms over her chest to withstand the blistering flurry of punches.
Friion seemed to be very offensive-based, and Polara was formulating a plan to get through his punches. Being pushed back for a short distance, the crack on one of her gems grew from a particularly hard punch. The female suddenly leaned backwards, landing on her hands and going for a kick to the gem located on the Arcosian's chest while swiping her thick tail towards his cranium and moving to launch off him. If he let her tactic through his barrier, she'd launch away and pant, catching her position and moving her arms and body into a defensive position.

As he reeled his opponent in by the tail, he felt the barbs of the appendage bite into his skin, leaving deep scratches against his arm. Even with the annoyance of the pain, he wasn't about to let his counter-offensive be deterred by something so meager! The split he hoped to cause from the kick was further bolstered in velocity by an escaping kick of Polara's own, Friion tucking his elbows in tight and guarding his chest and stomach as he floated upward to absorb the brunt of the attack against his arms. He hid a sly smirk as the distinguished cracking noise of a damaged bio-gem rang in his ears, and that was all the cue he needed to continue the assault that he'd attempted. With Polara's following kick, Friion would attempt to roll his neck and shoulders to position his head to glance the blow off; he felt a slight crack form at the corner of the gem, causing him to wince slightly more in frustration than anything else. Even with their difference in strength, she was proving to be quite stubborn. He'd of course let go of her tail during the exchange, witnessing her cross her arms across her chest to defend against the rain of punches in the sky. He was beginning to push her back ever so slowly, and he could feel the odd punch or two slip through every so often; a particularly clean shot worsened an existing crack on one of her bio-gems, which only added more fuel for his assault. Her next escaping kick landed at his abdomen, pushing him back but buying him a few precious seconds to defend his head from the next blow. He watched her carefully as she launched away and began to pant. After his assault, he was feeling some small of amount of fatigue as well, but it seemed the flurry of punches he'd delivered had also dealt somewhat of a blow to her stamina for the moment. ''Or maybe I should do the exact opposite. The initial exchange is over. Now it's time to really test her merit.''He would take on a curious combat stance with one fist tucked in tight in defensive posture with his lead shoulder forward, his other hand cast aside and open. His aura began to grow around his body like a billowing cloak, the violet hue darkening ever so slightly as he focused his energies. Forming a pocket wellspring of energy in his shoulder, he would feel its weave begin to snake down the interior muscle fibers of his open-handed arm before forming a spark at the center of the palm. The spark would take solid form as a baton-looking construct before he took a confident step forward, snapping his wrist and lashing the appendage toward the floor. A high-pitched electric crackle would clap through the ears of everyone in the room, as from the end of the baton a flexible, tensile construct emerged and lashed against the floor causing a nearby tile to shatter and fleck into the air at the impact. Whirling the artificial weapon about his form a few times until slight maneuvers of his wrist kept it swaying in the air, he'd narrow his eyes. ''Viola Lorum! Let's see how she handles this one.'' Slowly but surely, the pace of the swaying would begin to increase as the blunt energy weapon began to spark and crackle; the energy snaked its way visibly up his arm, and he was clearly planning on taking this bout up a notch. ''Instead of chasing her around this room, i'll catch her inside the Viola Lorum's web. We'll see if she can run then!''[Friion brandishes the Viola Lorum, an energy whip of ki!] [Charging N1, Viola Lorum: Collido! 33%]

The bronze Arcosian Emperor watched the battle raging on between his two commanding officers with interest, especially since neither of them had decided to transform yet in an attempt to pressure the other one. Their use of tactics against one another, ever shifting and adapting to the others changing stratagems, and of course the differences in their own styles of combat was definitely something to behold. Of course, this was all just pre-amble, a warm-up so to speak. And it looked like Friion was going to be the one to make the first move in taking this battle to the next level, with a rather interesting technique. Solid energy constructs, could be useful to learn something along those lines myself. the Emperor mused to himself as he wondered how Polara would react to this little twist.

Polara landed on the ground, examining her bio-gems in a frustrated manner as she noticed a few cracks. Who the hell did he think he was?! Irritation began to rise in her chest, eyes narrowing as her breathing became deep and even. He took on a curious stance, and the female watched as a sudden high pitched sound rang in the room. She clapped her hands to her ears, the screeching noise aggravating and painful to her audio sensors. "FOR THE LOVE OF TABLE SALT, STOP THAT NOISE!" The veteran continued to cringe from the high-pitched shrieking; annoyance clear in her eyes as she noticed ki flowing up his arm. Oh no you don't.
Taking an offensive stance, she launched herself at Friion still refusing to transform. She didn't like transforming in the first place, so this was a bit frustrating as it seemed that her adversary was trying to get the better of her and force a transformation. The bio-gem cracks were faintly beginning to heal, to the general's relief. She dared not let down her guard, attempting to fire a close range eye beam aimed directly at the male Arcosian's face as she soared above him. Once she fired it, she'd land behind him and attempt to donkey kick his upper back before spinning and standing up once more.
The black and white Arcosian's stamina started to fray slightly, panting lightly as she sunk into yet another stance. The ki was weaker than her own at base, yet it did make the Arcosian female slightly nervous and as such began charging her eye beam. Her cyan eyes would faintly start glowing deep blue as the ki flowed to them, her vision unblurred by the amount of ki gathering behind it. If anything, this stubborn female wouldn't go down without one hell of a good fight at worst, and would not transform unless she absolutely had to.
[Charging N1 Blue Glare for 4,466 this turn at 33%. Next round- 8,932 (66%) ]
