Etoru
The very brief re-meeting with Arias was so fast and gob smacking, it nearly gave her whiplash. As she pit what she would have called her courage against of the ogre guardians of Hell, doubt in her heart about Arias’ words of wisdom about her dying again, she was pleasantly surprised when he asked what business she had in Hell. Aside from the fact that she’d died, there wasn’t much aside from the strange fascination of a Lord seemed to have with her. Not that she wasn’t flattered but using that as a reason to avoid a confrontation was either a stroke of luck or a manifest destiny of a kind.
What she couldn’t figure out, though, was… Arias. As she sped off in the direction of what she coined as her ‘best chance’ at answers, she was rewarded with nothing less than absolute hatred. She’d done nothing to deserve it, sans maybe being a stubborn about what she believed was best. And when Zerori believed in something – she wasn’t going to be convinced otherwise without a REAL good reason. Arias seemed to know all these things but… how could she trust her to know what was best when she herself was dead and thirsting for vengeance?!
Topping on the cake, however just seemed to settle it that she wasn’t great a judge of character as she thought she was.
"...You'll never know what it is like to lose a lot of things in a single, fatal decision..."
Looking back as she walked off, Zerori could only stare with a pity before she turned away and continued on her course. Arias really didn’t know anything about her, after all…
..
.
It took some time, her usual strength and speed lost to her with the added benefit of a lack of exhaustion, before she finally reached the base of the large mountain. Coming to a stop, Zerori would observe the opposite side of the mountain with renewed interest. Somehow, it seemed to actually be a building of some sort! Cautiously floating closer, she’d see that beings would actually be housed inside. Observing the unfamiliar faces, though from a fair distance away, an ogre would soon come into few from around the corner.
Her cloud-like form jolting a bit from the guardian, even if he was much smaller, she would back up a bit behind a large boulder. “I didn’t even think about the possibility of this place actually being forbidden!” She hissed softly to herself.
Looking tentatively over the boulder, she watched as a conversation took place (or maybe he was just staring inside the prison) before he walked back off. Taking her chance to get some answers, Zerori quickly rushed from behind the boulder and bolted up the stairs.
Stopping just in front of the bars as the ogre disappeared from view around the corner, she would take in the appearance of the prisoners inside.
What? Looking around, cupping her hands over her eyes to try and look into the darkness further, she couldn’t see anyone. “I could have sworn…” Voice trailing off, Zerori mumbled her confusion before frowning in disappointment and moving to turn around.
Then a voice cut through the darkness, “Who dares?” Came a deep baritone voice, cold and cutting with ice. Looking back with a look of excitement, Zerori reached forward to grasp the bars and respond.
“There was someone!” She declared louder than wise and covered her mouth, tossing her gaze back in the direction of the ogre before continuing and looking back in the darkness. “Who are you? I need some information and this was the largest landmark here.”
Waiting for a response, a large snarl could be heard before the voice in the darkness would simply repeat with more enunciation, “And I asked,” A dark gnarled hand would lurch from between the bars and nearly grasp Zerori around her cloudy neck before she slipped away and just gasped at how she’d come. What?! “Who dares?!”
Coming into a view, hardly resembling anything humanoid that she’d ever seen, a large creature with what looked to be a thousand tiny eyes would be staring at her. It’s gnarled hand, wrapped around the bars, would actually be only a few clawed fingers attached to a carapace-ed arm. Everything else, however, was still too shrouded in darkness for her to see… to her disappointment.
Remembering that he demanded her name, she shook off her shock and growled her name out as intimidating as she could manage, “Zerori of Vegeta.”
Tilting it’s head, he seemed to hiss yet responded in a deep eloquent voice, “I can see that… Zerori,” It seemed to taste her name, eliciting a shiver down her spine that caught her to swallow. “And what would you learn from… me?”
Getting right to it, she would lean forward, “I need to know where I can find this ‘Beelzebub’ guy. He can find a body for me, I’m sure of it.” Even when in reality, she really wasn’t.
Humming to himself, he seemed to contemplate what she requested before finally speaking. It was only now that she noticed something interesting…
He had no mouth.
So through whatever means that his biology provided… he was communicating with her through some sort of telepathy or perhaps he was speaking through some other form of-
“You are not listening,” Came a sudden statement and Zerori blinked, unaware that she had lost herself in analyzing him.
“S-Sorry, please continue,” She abashedly muttered, looking away for a moment.
“As I was saying,” He tersely continued, “Beelzebub will not entertain you; whatever thoughts of generosity you claim him to have, he will not so much as look at you without a body… much less, provide one.”
Not entirely surprised, Zerori gave a deep sigh or annoyance, “Damn iiiit, I had a feeling you’d say that…” Lifting a hand, Zerori made to run it through her hair but paused when it seemed to only run through air. The realization made her more irate, prompting a petulant frown.
Interrupting her dismal attitude, he would click incessantly suddenly, “But there is… another way…”
Raising a brow at this unsaid ‘other’ way, the sound of stomping caught her attention and she hissed, “Damn! Hold that thought-!” She hissed softly, turning around and taking off to try and reach her boulder before the guard caught sight of her.
However, it was with a strange raspy cackle that the imprisoned hellion would not heed her words and simply screech in a voice that made her wince in pain, “Prrrrrraaaaaayyyyyy!”
Tossing an incredulous expression over her shoulder, Zerori only barely managed to stifle the strong words she wanted to scream to a few brief mutters under her breath. Hiding safely behind the rock shield, she would hear the loud grumbles of the returned ogre as the hellion cackled, no doubt amused by her naivety. “Shoulda fuckin’ known…” She spat softly, floating away from the prison. She no longer had a reason for being there…
Finding a smaller rock to sit on, a good distance from the danger, she reclined on it and held her face in her hands with a sour expression. Every since coming down here, meeting with Arias once more, and then getting into danger… she’d not felt like her usual self. Perhaps… maybe Arias was right.
She’d recently, in life, dedicated her life to try and revive Ari. Now, with her death and final wishes granted… somewhat to her satisfaction, she didn’t have any reason to truly truly struggle to live any more.
A life time of fighting, clawing her way to scratch out an existence that she’d be proud of and she’d actually, somehow found peace. In her heart, she felt as if she should be grateful for all the lives she’d taken and the hardships she caused her allies…
Yet.
Even still.
I want… I need to live again. Something is missing and I just… I just need to find it. What am I miss-
Thinking hard, not quite as aware of her surroundings, she’d hardly noticed a very faint bit of light around her forming in the shape of small bubbles before she felt warmth.
And that struck her as odd, because… she was dead, wasn’t she?
It was then that she heard it… faintly, like a melody that danced just out of earshot but faintly audible. A voice that spoke…
Looking up, Zerori would simply stare at the oddly colored orange clouds that stood resolute overhead. Not searching for anything but, merely enjoying the rare feeling in her chest. Was this a sign? Something… that was being told to her through some sort of new method of communication? Or merely a foolish and sentimental realization of her ‘afterlife’?
Very faintly… she could understand the words.
"I don't know how...or why you died... potential of turning evil… probably did. But I know… left with good thoughts in mind. I don't care… but you're a hero… and you will always be remembered..."
As she stared at the sky, her eyes would widen with slow realization as the voice faded in and out but… Yes, it was still-!
“Etoru!” She cried, her voice still the high pitched tone of her ghostly body. Standing, she cried at the skies as his voice finished and she felt as if hot tears would spring to her face. He was still alive… He lived and he still remembered her, no matter the terrible decisions she made!
Reaching towards her chest, her fingers made to hold it firmly in her palm, breathing heavily in and out as a torrent of emotions wracked her body. Clenching her teeth, she looked down with her eyes closed before… in a burst of emotion, she threw her head back and yelled to the heavens above.
“ETORU!” Yelling as loud as she could, the light around her body would seem to burst around her before it changed – forming a figure. Even as the figure was not yet molded but whatever forces were at work, the sound of a familiar voice could be heard and it continued, “I hear it… I hear you, I hear you… my boy.” Strong, melodious and robust – the saiyaness’ voice was returned to her. And, by the gods, did she use it, “Hear me or not, Boy but I WILL come back for you! No matter how long it takes… what I have to do…”
As the light faded, the small ghostly form without aim or might, would be forsaken for another… more comfortable body. And it felt good. Better than good – she felt like she was born again.
Detail coming to life in her face, she would still be looking up at the clouds above but a knowing grin would be present upon her face. Breathing for the first time, Zerori took in deep breaths and exhaled like she’d never felt oxygen in years. She looked away from the sky to gaze down, seeing for what felt like the first time in forever, her legs, hips and hands.
Clenching said hands as she gazed at them, it was an incontrovertible fact, then…
Her face softened then, a smile replacing the zealous grin, “You’ve done it… Never doubted you for a second, kid,” Letting out a scoff, she swallowed the impending emotion of finally having a body. She didn’t know how it happened, or what he’d done, but if she had to guess…
He saved her… with the power of prayer.
..
.
In the aftermath of the attainment of her body, a certain amount of destruction had apparently happened and she’d ‘caught’ the attention of quite a few onlookers. A bit of a crater beneath her as she let loose her power at full strength was what remained of her outburst. It wasn’t a lot but when she’d restored her composure the saiyaness was left with the insatiable urge to train.
Finally, she’d returned… and she wasn’t going to squander this gift.
