Valerie wasn't sure when it had become priority number one to get to the top of this tree (which was certainly something, since her memory was supposedly perfect), but she sure as hell wasn't going to give up now.
Clinging to the gnarled bark of the towering jungle tree, Val had, whilst reaching upward for a branch, managed to slip and fall. Thankfully she'd caught herself on the next branch down. Less than thankfully, she hadn't managed to do so whilst remaining facing upwards.
As such, Valerie was getting a pretty great view of the ground right now, and had incidentally discovered that her ocular rangefinder was working perfectly, helpfully informing her that she was 34.5 feet from falling directly onto her hea- The branch her right hand was clinging to creaked ominously.
34.4 feet. Uh oh.
Val adjusted her feet, which were currently secured tightly around a bulbous knot of wood in a monkeylike grip. Not that feet were exactly made for gripping, but it was better than nothing. Going barefoot did have its advantages - Valerie didn't want to think about what would have happened if she'd been wearing shoes (several algorithms helpfully supplied, without prompting, that it was likely she would suffer significant surface and framework damage from a drop of this height, if her calculations were correct. Thanks algorithms).
"I have not had enough coffee for this," mama Grady used to say that a lot. It always made Valerie feel better, although she didn't actually drink at all, much less coffee.
Still, it was a boost to the spirits as she took a deep mechanical breath and then pushed off from the branch below at the same time as pulling with what purchase she had with her feet, tugging upwards and- yes, managing to snag another branch with her arm and wrap herself around it. Now she was hanging sloth-style from it - still upside down but at least not vertically flipped.
Juuuuust another 60 feet to go.
Darn.

A certain blur of Ki shot through the plethora of trees within the Bamboo Forest. This blur was suppressed to a SSE grunt's level of strength, however this was merely training of another kind. A hybrid Saiyan accurately touched down upon branch after branch, disappearing as soon as he appeared within the multiple varieties of nature. The hybrid Celmaru Waterfield alarmed the animals within the vicinity, rustled an immense plethora of leaves, and even surprised a hunter on accident. The gusts of wind flitted past his dark brown locks as his blurry visage appeared and disappeared rapidly, dancing betwixt the trees with ease. The hybrid's wife, the seaweed woman Phae Waterfield, was across the forest, awaiting his arrival to determine the final time. This variety of training was the advance his maximum velocity in a vastly suppressed state; near his original level of power prior to meeting the elder Ayumu. ' ...I hope Phae doesn't get attacked. Well, then again, she does have the power of sixty-three thousand Human men...' ' I can still hear you, husband~' ' Ah, of course you can. Are you alright over there?' ' I'm perfectly fine...however its lonely...' ' Don't worry, we'll conclude this training once I arrive and we'll head home, alright?' ' Yes, Celmaru~' Celmaru grinned lightly as he snapped a splintery branch beneath his feet. This particular jump was to reach a prominently mountainous tree, which stood well above the others; piquing the hybrid's interest as a point to obtain immense distance. However, as he landed upon a fortunately thick branch, the hybrid tripped over a pair of hands. Gasping as he waggled his forearms about violently, the hybrid fell over into another nearby platform of a branch. Using flight for a mere moment, Celmaru successfully flipped around to land atop his feet for a safe landing....however his time this round would be terrible. Shifting his gaze swiftly to behold the sight of...er...a humanoid, hanging around akin to a sloth. Quirking a brow towards the humanoid, the hybrid crouched down to meet it's gaze, staring at it intently before he spoke. " Er...hello there? Who might you be?" The hybrid, as he spoke, began to notice a rather unbelievable factor about this humanoid; he couldn't sense a thing. More questions arose as the hybrid felt a subtle influx of Ki around his palm. Meanwhile, several miles away, Phae floated above the ground impatiently, slightly fatigued and drowsy in the morning light. The twins she bore were a rather hefty toll, even for a spiritual guardian such as herself. Fortunately for the seaweed woman, she hasn't experienced any morning sickness, nor any sort of frequent urination. Unfortunately, she has begun to endure both fatigue and hormonal fluctuations via her pregnancy. A timer rested atop her palm, running at fifteen minutes and twenty two seconds and counting. Despite the rather comfortable weather, regardless of the approaching end of spring, Phae was feeling lonely immediately; mere minutes since her husband left to test his ability regarding velocity. Several more minutes is all that it would take for her to begin to sob softly within the edge of the forest, alone and unsafe. 'H-Husband...' ' What is it, Phae? Are you alright?' ' N-No...' ' What happened?! Are you injured?' ' I'm...I'm just lonely...' ' ....Well....thankfully you aren't harmed...however please wait a few more minutes, I'll be there soon.' Facing the humanoid android once more, Celmaru sent more inquiries towards it, curious. " Are you of a rare variety of Human? Do you know of some sort of advanced Ki Suppression? What might you be doing out here, of all places?" The sudden appearance of this humanoid was rather strange, hanging like a sloth included. The hybrid was unsure of what gender to this person, as their external appearance was rather androgynous....Celmaru could only hope that it wouldn't be offended if he assumed his gender.

Val gathered herself - okay her grip was good, but reaching was something else entirely, so she was going to have to make sure that she was secure enough to stretch upwards. Getting the right way around was the first priority, so she needed to swing herself upright, and then-
A shadow passed over her, and Valerie yelped when a heavy impact smacked into her hands. She clung tightly, and were it not for her robotic grip, she doubtless would have fallen... given her fingers actually dug and inch or so into the bark of the branch, a crackling noise ensuing as her nails gouged deep.
Once reassured that she wasn't immediately going to drop directly onto her freaking head, Val peered around the branch to see who had nearly dislodged her, who was now occupying another branch nearby. A well built man, eyeing her curiously... without much regard for the fact he'd almost taken her out.
Bah.
In any case Val didn't really have it in her to hold a grudge, so when he asked who she was...
"I'm Valerie. Hello."
She regarded him for a few seconds. He appeared to be thinking to himself. Patiently, she waited. And then...
"What the heck's a ki suppression?" Val asked cheerfully. "I am not a human, but I still have no idea what that means," she shifted, making an attempt to get upright- nope nope. Okay, well. "I'm here because I am exploring. Also, climbing."

The hybrid's eyes darted to and fro between his acquaintance and beyond the tree, near the faraway edge of the forest. Taking note of the humanoid's name, the hybrid replied in kind, greeting her with his own. " Ah, Valerie...its a pleasure to meet you. Oh, er....excuse me, I've nearly forgotten to introduce myself. My name is Celmaru Waterfield, and once again....its a pleasure to meet you. I do apologize for tripping over you earlier, however I was determining my maximum velocity within a vastly suppressed Ki." Scratching his head sheepishly as he apologized, the hybrid sensed Phae's Ki wavering slightly; albeit for a moment. Was she about to faint? The measure of the seaweed woman's Ki was becoming increasingly inaccurate as her pregnancy progressed; eventually becoming as feeble as Celmaru's mother, at a mere five thousand in Ki measures. Adding insult to injury; its only been two months. Shifting his attention towards Valerie once more, the hybrid was surprised to hear that she didn't know of Ki Suppression. ' Then again, Chili wasn't aware of it...he couldn't even use it!' What Valerie continued to respond with wasn't what the hybrid expected; not a Human? She couldn't be a Saiyan, those with such an invisible Ki would be exterminated. Would it be possible for one to create a particularly humanoid Bio-Android? The inability to sense this organism's Ki was rather frustrating to the hybrid, forcing him to fumble around with his capsules, a partial plethora of them hanging via belt rings. With a sleight of his right palm, Celmaru felt a pressured puff of smoke emit from his waist; an average scouter appearing as the smoke faded. The hybrid felt another quiver of a familiar Ki as he guided his right hand to his left ear, promptly placing the blue lens before his eye. ' Be patient for a few more minutes, Phae.' ' ...' ' You'll be fine, don't worry. I'll be beside you as soon as possible.' Tapping the deep red button along the surface of the scouter, the device beeped anxiously as it prepared to gauge the power before its owner. With a conclusive bleep, the scouter displayed an exact measure; that of which wasn't at the hybrid's disposal for months. " Three-thousand seven-hundred fifty? Decent to say the least, however what concerns me is that I can't determine your power without this thing. What are you, Valerie?...Also would you like assistance in your endeavor? You appear somewhat stuck." Adjusting his position awkwardly, the hybrid flopped his calves over the side of the platform-esqe branch, placing his behind atop the wooden surface to sit. Pressing upon the scouter's only button, Celmaru forced the device into powering down; swiftly removing the overused item as he did so. The hybrid would offer other assistance, however he would have to attend to his wife soon enough. Given as much, another inquiry came to mind as Celmaru set down his father's scouter. " Er...would you like to meet my wife, as well? She's awaiting my return near the edge of this forest, and I'd hate to keep her waiting. She's...er...not comfortable being away from me, it seems." Resting his forearms atop his knees, Celmaru awaited several answers from the humanoid, mostly in hopes of acquiring knowledge of what she was. Otherwise, the hybrid would have to take his leave soon enough; simply so that Phae wouldn't break down in her loneliness. Val

"Nice to meet you, Celmaru," a pause, "Oh, okay."
Val took a moment to think over what he'd told her. Celmaru had said it pretty much like he was expecting her to understand... so did that mean that 'suppressing ki' was something relatively common around here? Wasn't too crazy an assumption to make, but the ki topic was still one that kind of confused her, not least because apparently to look in on Val's, well, ki, Celmaru was having to use a device that Valerie quickly identified as some manner of scanning technology.
It wasn't necessarily that Valerie was completely ignorant to how ki worked, but she definitely wasn't 'in the know' around the subject. Her encounters with ki users had been fairly limited, and while she had access to everyone's favourite resource - the internet - trying to find ki blogs wasn't particularly high on her list of her priorities.
There were uh, um...
Trees to climb.
Again, she attempted to pull herself upright - this time managing to just about get a bare foot atop the particular branch and leaving her in a somewhat awkwardly splayed position. Good thing her joints were designed with such a high degree of flexibility...
Celmaru was still talking - Valerie did her best to maintain eye contact, on account that was polite, but had to twist her head at a fairly extreme angle to do so, upside down and several degrees further than would be comfortable for an ordinary human neck. He also cited a number, and then... her power? What on earth was he talking about? The only number Val had much familiarity with was her serial number, and that was Six, certainly not in the thousands.
"Oh, what am I?" she strained... was now halfway up the side of that branch, clinging like an oversized robotic limit. "I am an android. Beep beep boop boop," another strain. "No no, it is fine. I have this," one final burst of effort, and she swung herself atop it. Ahah!
Valerie turned to regard Celmaru properly. She felt no fatigue, just a miniature surge of victory. Even so, glancing up... there was a long way to go. Hrm.
"Oh, your wife?" Valerie thought about it a moment. Well,... she could always take a vision screen of where she was, keep her place saved. The tree would still be here tomorrow - the opportunity to meet someone new wouldn't necessarily be. "Well, sure. It would be nice to meet her."

Between his scarce fits of constant speech, the hybrid took notice of the persistent climbing Valerie partook in. The humanoid's throat was contorted beyond a normal Human's typical flexibility; Valerie wasn't an average Human. This humanoid had a seemingly significant lack of knowledge of Ki, given how little she spoke of the subject. Squinting towards Valerie for a moment, the hybrid began to wonder if she had any knowledge of Ki at all. " Excuse me, Valerie...if you don't mind my asking; Do you know anything about Ki?" The hybrid began to place Ki beneath his feet, floating above the surface of the branch he stood upon. Folding his arms across his chest, Celmaru listened as Valerie claimed to be an Android; a robotic life form. The hybrid's brows shot upward in both curiosity and surprise. Floating further beyond the sturdy branches, the hybrid husband beheld the accomplishment of the android's successful climbing attempt; which instigated a subtle, yet soft clapping from the young warrior.
"It appears that you're already more proficient than I am at climbing trees...however I guess that's to be expected of a surprisingly flexible mechanical being."
It took the majority of the hybrid's willpower to not overwhelm Valerie with inquiries of her specified species. Celmaru has had a history of doing so with Bio-Androids, Namekians, Majins, and even Saiyans when he was a child. The hybrid would usually incessantly send barrages of near-interrogating queries towards the person of interest, however it would appear rude to do so now...especially in front of someone who seemed to be female. Concluding his polite clapping, albeit somewhat brief, the android agreed to meeting Phae. " Ah, wonderful! I do apologize if this would...er...distract you from any goals you might have set for the day, or anything akin to that much. I do assure you that my wife - "
Unfortunately, a thin, green blur manifested itself out of nowhere. Slamming itself into Celmaru swiftly, with absolutely no hesitation, the hybrid was tackled out of the open air. Wind whistled around the hybrid's ears as he finally registered who his assailant was; his own wife, Phae Waterfield. Furrowing his brows, frantically removing his suppression that was atop his Ki, Celmaru awaited the inevitable impact.
'Phae, what are you doing?! I was going to - '
'You took too long!? I don't want to feel lonely again!'
'If you had waited a minute or so more - '
'Please, just let me be beside you for the rest of today!'
The seaweed woman was seemingly whining about her lack of a husband nearby. However, a sudden crash into the earth beneath them jerked them away from their mental conversation. The hybrid had bounced slightly as he created a minuscule impact crater from this forceful embrace. Celmaru groaned as the the dirt and grass poked at his spine; that of which was sensitive from the fall. Telepathically contacting Valerie, the hybrid only spoke a few words. Meanwhile, Phae would simply nestle up against her husband, embracing him tightly.
'W-Well...it appears that my wife has decided to come to us.'
Val...say "Hello" to Phae! (Phae Waterfield for reference: wodsouls.freeforums.net/thread/6433/phae-waterfield-seaweed-kitsune )
