I actually wanted to avoid making a thread for this, but after the update to the rules and how people are feeling I deem it as necessary.
Now as few of you probably know, there has been some recent...customization discussion in the cbox that COULD have been a rather good conversation. Though alas, us being human's emotions got involved and a certain mod I know and love had to stop themself from completely disposing of the cboc(which he pays for) completely. In all fairness though I would like to start with an earlier conversation that basically contributed to the same customization issue
A bit before the topic at hand a member wanted to create their own race that either had aspects from one extinct canon race or another race that many canon lovers despise which could only mean one thing to most of you.
But with such comes the disappointment to that member where the mod or admin has to say "no" even if it sounds reasonable to that member.
In this instance I noticed a certain...change in tone with a specific mod who had pretty much already heard "no" from previous and similar conversations and got to the point where that member wanted to bring up another potential route to getting their race to a reasonable conclusion but which the mod refused to actually hear that aspect and roughly responded with "No, the answer will be No" before the person had the chance to say what they wanted to say.
Now one could argue that this was okay as many times as the mod had already said no, you could also argue that there is very little reason to ascend to such a blunt and borderline rude attitude. It can go anyway, of course I was more or less on the side to ask/tell the mod to "calm down" and thats to quote.
Of course in that particular mods eyes, being blunt and calm go hand in hand, but to others it could lead to a person feeling offended and possibly stirring up an unneeded argument.
I was...surprised to hear another mod intercept me and say "that IS a calm (insert mods name here) >_>" insisting that it's okay to respond such a way because "thats how they are". At this point, I didn't even have an opinion on who was right or who as wrong I was appalled to hear that if a mod comes off as rude even IF the person they were speaking to didn't actually come off as rude themself should just "accept" that the particular mod has been here for "2 years 3 years w/e" and should be expected to act like they did.
I am not one hundred percent on this being "okay" as I do believe a mod should have their emotions because we are all human but should have a general professionalism when speaking to a user that is trying something. Why roleplay sites are notorious for contributing to "That's just how that mod is! That's the meanest mod on the site" and blah blah is beyond me, but I see WODS as having justice for both users and mods.
After looking to the warning board myself I can clearly see that there have been mods who had to be put in their place or given a warning, I have also seen false instances where a mod would be put up on the warning board and it would be revealed that the mod in question was not to blame.
This is where I bring up our dear Therevolution or as others refer to as the PC for Zucceta. Rev was in a position where he felt like there was a sense of "Anti mod" or "anti rev" as referred to in his most recent update to the rules. The topic in question was a namekian having feathered angel wings (I will admit, I am not in context where this is exclusively for the after life or if they can just walk/fly around with wings on their back) which I agreed with rev is probably "too far out" as simple of a thing it sounds like.
The conversation ended up getting even bigger than it should have which led to more or less additional pc's that thought wings should be okay and Rev felt like he was being ganged up on. I personally do not believe it was in anyones intention to make him feel the way he did. I DID however feel hints of hostility in some people's words(even if they did not mean it) this TheRevolutionary had to take actions for what he felt would be better for the site. In my opinion, I feel like the actions taken on the rules could make things worse in a sense although it generally seems like an idea that could work for the better.
From it I saw potentially MORE arguing, MORE hypocrisy and MORE banning and worst of all, the conclusion to the cbox and nobody(except a select few) want that.
putting in my few cents I would like to say that I personally felt like Rev was correct in the situation and although I wish he hadn't felt like he was being ganged up on I could definitely see why he felt the way he did. I would bring up a similar situation on another site but this is already long as it is. As for the last of what I want to say I just feel like we should all mutually understand that we are all humans, and that we shouldn't look at mods as robots that should have to put up with irritating topics, although at the same time I feel like everyone should have mutual professionalism in a conversation. Less head budding and more cooperationg. Sometimes the answer will just be no, there doesn't(wasn't) exactly a rule against trying to prove your case to be reasonable, but it seems as if the mods have figured some people don't know how to do that or perhaps don't want to? I personally don't think it is okay to shut down a person, as much as someone wants to say or defend that no one was being "shut down" I still feel i should say this. All in all I feel like rev has had a bit to take in and evidently finds himself in a situation where he is being piled on top of.
As a person who has grown quite fond of rev and they way he thinks I believe people in general should try to give the main admin AND the one paying for the cbox a break and we should all try to be reasonable with one another. Thats my two cents, feel free to disagree or agree with anything you had the patience to read.
