The Void was growing restless. It had been quite some time since his spar with Samba, where he'd had a chance to really let loose and enjoy a good fight. He'd taken something of a beating then, and hadn't come out unscathed but really, neither of them had. It had been a good little match, and Alexander had been craving something more when he'd gotten the call from Belle. Beryl wanted to meet him. He had to struggle to contain his energy that morning, trying not to be too exuberant about the prospect of being able to go out and fight someone who might pose a full challenge to him. He'd never had the chance to go all out against someone who was significantly stronger than himself...if the fellow even had that. He didn't know how strong Beryl actually was- all he had was Core's words which didn't give him a whole lot to go off from. The young man stared up at the sky, feeling a strange sense of power looming above. He wasn't certain what the cause of it was but it felt like something...far beyond the stars was pressing down on him, weighing him down. It could have just as easily been nerves, but Alex preferred to pass the blame onto something else that he couldn't control. The area where he'd been led to meet was fairly open, but far enough away from civilization that if something did occur, then there wouldn't be any problems. He wondered, vaguely, if Belle hadn't trusted him as much as she'd let on, and she had advised Beryl to terminate him. Not that he'd mind a drag-out fight, but he did not know this Beryl. He didn't know if it would be a friendly spar, or if the man would seriously try to kill him, if Belle had deemed him a threat. Still, even that made Alexander's pulse quicken with excitement as he waited for the leader of the Galactic Patrol. --- ((PL: 143,238 | Heavy Weight: 35,810 )) Beryl Roarke

Sources spammed Beryl’s newsfeed with reports of strange, magical activity occurring out within the Spinach Wastes. While he wasn’t an expert on the arcane, Beryl believed that he could at least investigate to see what was going on. He wanted the Galactic Patrol recruits to focus primarily on their training and worry about actual patrolling and missions later. There was no point sending them out on tasks if said tasks would only get them horribly maimed or killed.
Since Beryl was already stationed in the Eastern Lands, it didn’t take him long before he arrived to the area of interest. Already, as soon as he approached, he felt an alien energy. The air was thick with it – making the air almost heavy with weight. It felt like the entire area was sloshed in a sea of molasses; if Beryl wasn’t able to tolerate gravity up to one hundred and fifty times normal, he would’ve had a tremendous amount of trouble just moving.
“This appears to be it.” The sources mentioned something about the Void and how its energy could distort the very fabric of reality. Blinking, Beryl detected a ki and electrical signal not far from his position. It belonged to a brown-haired teenager with vibrant green eyes. He did get a message about a guide that could show him around; was this the guy the message mentioned? “Excuse me. Are you on the one who knows more about the strange energy in this area?” Beryl asked as he stepped forward. His own dark-brown eyes were hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. “I’m Beryl – leader of the Galactic Patrol. I’m doing an investigation regarding … something about the Void.”

The wind had begun to pick up around Alexander a bit. He wondered if the energy beyond the stars that he felt was somehow linked to his own? It was certainly possible- he knew next-to-nothing about the Void. Funny, that he utilized it as his main form of combat and yet even now he knew almost nothing about it. His eyes closed for a moment as he felt the wind brush over him, tantalizing, calm. The weighted coat never moved, still hanging down around his body as it caressed his body. Then, a sudden sense from the Void. Something was approaching- something powerful. Alexander's head had been tilted backward as he'd been staring skyward. The sudden rush of power that he felt from whatever was approaching was something that sent a slight tremor of both fear and excitement through him. His eye opened, glancing over toward where this was coming from, and judging from what he could sense, this had to be Beryl. This had to be the man that Core had mentioned. How could he have expected anything different? Something that would have been strong to Core had to be phenomenal and this was...truly that. He saw the man approach, coming close enough to speak. Alex's eye couldn't help but to widen, his pupil shrinking a bit at the mention of the fellow's name. The power from the beyond the stars that pressed down upon them was still weighing him down, but he didn't feel too lethargic, and seeing Beryl now, in the flesh, sent a rush of power through him. "I am," he responded. He lifted his right arm, allowing the empty energy of the Void to swell around it. "I'm a practitioner," he offered, as if he were curious on what Beryl was after, here. "If you're the leader of the Galactic Patrol then I would presume you know my name as well. I am Alexander Voss," Alex returned, still turned somewhat to the side. "It is so very pleasant to finally meet you." Beryl Roarke

If Beryl didn’t know better, Alexander seemed like just an ordinary teenager – the same you’d find amongst Earth’s civilian population. However, something was off, definitely off. As soon as Alex lifted up his arm, the same, alien energy that flooded the air enshrouded the appendage like a sleeve. Beryl widened his eyes slightly. There were people who could actually control the Void? “You … are a practitioner?” Beryl repeated in slight disbelief. “But the sources told me – it didn’t seem like the Void could be controlled at all? What is the Void exactly? Isn’t it just a manifestation of chaotic energy?” If it wasn’t obvious enough, Beryl wasn’t exactly a master of the arcane or the magical.
Alex’s power was impossible to ignore. Beryl narrowed his eyes slightly, trying to mask it as him reacting to the unstable energy in the area. Alex was human – at least Beryl believed him to be – but his power was anything but “human-like”. Clearly, the green-eyed teenager had an enormous amount of power and if he could control this “Void”, there was no telling what he was fully capable of. “Alexander Voss. That’s right; people have mentioned you to me before. You were the one who set up this meeting then?” Beryl blinked. “So, you’re the one who’s responsible for these Void energies?”
Things were starting to add up slowly but surely.
“Is there any reason you wanted to meet me in privacy specifically?”
There had to be one.

"I wish I had the answers for you, Beryl Roarke," Alexander responded as he was assaulted by a hailstorm of questions. "But this, above?" he spoke, gesturing to the strange energy that was flowing around them, to the landscape where it was touching things. "It is nothing of my doing- this is how the landscape was when I found it. I felt it might be a most apt meeting place for you and I," he continued. What Alex was saying was unfortunately true. He knew next to nothing about the power that was contained within his arm. Ayumu had granted it to him and then the old man had seemingly vanished from the face of the planet shortly thereafter, leaving Alex in a cloud of riddles that he had no solution to. "I was. Through your songstress," he spoke, referring to Belle. "But she was not from whom I first heard about you." He turned then, to view Beryl fully, the energy still rippling across his right arm. The unnatural power flowed through him, suffusing his essence with its 'wrong' feeling. Though it was interesting that Beryl had heard of it- perhaps he was far more in the know than Alexander was himself. "Core, the Arcosian, spoke highly of you. Since then I've entertained the thought of wondering what could make him follow you, when he was so powerful already." Alexander moved then, removing the weighted coat from his body, setting it down on the ground, the heavy object sinking into the ground from its removal. "But I can see your power." He exhaled slowly, his green eyes on Beryl's features. "First and foremost, I wish to know your power first-hand. But secondly, I wish to lend aid as well. From what I've been told by your songstress, the Galactic Patrol tends to take out threats that endanger the planet. Those powerful adversaries...I wish to test my own strength against them. I have to know what the limits are to this Void that I use." He shook his head slowly. "I know little about it, only that it grants strength. I just need to know the limits of that strength. Show me that you are a man worthy of being followed, Beryl." Power began to flood into Alexander then, from both his arm and the heavy air around him. The energy surrounded him, coating him like a suit of armor. "I have no life or death quarrel...simply to seek my limitations. And you are the only one that can fulfill that need." -- Heavy Weights Removed, Powered up to Void Knight. Current PL: 859,428 (i.e. nowhere near Beryl Roarke :V )

Great. So, the exact origins of the Void were still shrouded in mystery. It was an unfortunate setback, but it was one that he could deal with. Alexander couldn’t be expected to know all of the answers, especially considering something as enigmatic and sinister as the Void. Still, Alex figuring that this place – this energy-twisted area – was the best place to conduct a formal meeting made Beryl slightly uneasy. He could somewhat tell from the boy’s mannerisms and tone that there were several screws loose in that head of his. As Beryl somewhat expected, many have spoken about his strength and his position as the leader of the Galactic Patrol. It seemed to be only a matter of time before someone like Alex would hear about him. Not only that, but the sixteen year old had an interest in joining the Galactic Patrol itself, but that was not the main reason why he wanted to meet Beryl face to face.
No, he wanted a fight.
“…” Beryl continued gazing at Alex, noting the malicious energy covering the green-haired male’s body. “… I guess I cannot say no to you, can I?” That’s what it seemed like at least. Slowly but surely, Beryl slid into a ready stance, fists up and ready. His fighting stance wasn’t anything special; in fact, it was simple – almost too simple. Did Beryl, a human who supposedly possessed unreal amounts of strength, really fight so … simply?
“Whenever you’re ready, Alex.”

"You can say no if you'd like- but I cannot guarantee that I would allow such a thing," Alexander spoke, a strange vibration coming from his voice. It was as if he was speaking in two separate voices at the same time- one just the barest of a second after the other. It could have been that the Void itself was distorting his voice, or perhaps it was that there was now a separate presence in Alex, or surrounding him, in the case of the Void. He didn't particularly know what Beryl's plans were, here, and if the leader of the Galactic Patrol did plan to simply...leave. To not give Alex the fight that he wanted. Of course, he was also certain that Beryl knew that if that was the case, Alexander would not stop hunting the man down. But then the leader of the Galactic Patrol offered Alexander the fight that he wanted. The man moved into what appeared to be the stance of a boxer, something that Alex didn't quite expect from the man. From someone of Beryl's strength, he had expected some sort of high-level stance, something that would give the void-user some pause when approaching. But this was something that he had seen a number of times. A boxer, or perhaps a brawler...all in all it was very interesting to see. Still, it wasn't as if Alexander's own stance was particularly complex. In fact, he merely stood with his hands at his sides, not bothering to take one up at all. He had begun to rely heavily upon the Void to supply his strength, to the point where a stance was mostly irrelevant for him. "I was ready to fight you the moment you approached me," Alexander spoke before the Void increased in power around his form, and the young man simply vanished from sight. Or he would have, to a lesser fighter. He was certain that Beryl would be able to watch his movements even as he approached, giving a small half-leap as he turned in mid-air, planting his rear leg as his body turned with the momentum built, aiming to slam his right foot directly into Beryl's sternum. There was no ki use, no void use, here. This was a hand-to-hand fight, and Alexander would keep it that way as long as Beryl did. -- Beryl Roarke
