Pin had interrupted his guests. It seemed the little girl and her guardian were familiar with the wolf Zoanthrope. They had a brief reunion before turning their attention back to him. Pin took note that most of them remained silent, instead just looking at him expectantly. Only the wolf spoke up with any sort of questions. Straightforward and courageous. Pin liked that.
“I’m assembling a team,” Pin said, looking at Samba directly, “A team of warriors from across the galaxies. Our primary directive will be to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.”
Pin began to pace in front of those gathered, sizing them up individually from behind his helmet.
“Should there be an impending battle, an interested party need only approach us and request our aid. We’ll assess the situation and assign an appropriately powerful operative to the task. We’ll ask for only one thing in return.”
Pin stopped, turned his head back to Samba, and smiled so wide that you could hear it in his voice.
“A big fuckin’ pile of money. The higher the stakes, the higher the price. We train hard, we fight hard, we die rich.”
Pin turned around to face away from his potential employees and raised his arms up, holding them wide as if to hug the cosmos themselves. He wasn’t entirely sure WHY he was doing it, but he figured it might help him sell the concept if anyone was still on the fence.
“That sound good to you, teen wolf?”

Everyone watched, stared, waited. Waited for Pin to speak again, to do anything again. An android he may be, but he’d still been built to be a son to her own biological mother which made them half siblings in her book. It was a good book, in her opinion, and so far without having had any real expectations, Pin was a good surprise. The Arcosian seemed to be waiting, too, and Kay paid him no mind. Her best friend in the whole world aside from Nana was the Arcosian, Core, and he was one of the best people she’d ever met despite their difference in race.
The Saiyan just stood there as well, taking measure of everyone else. Why was everyone so...standoffish? They were all there for the same reasons, right? Well, mostly, maybe she had an extra reason but that didn’t really matter. Right? At least she had Nana and Samba with her, friendly faces and all that mumbo jumbo… She felt somehow safer having a friend around.
She’d liked Samba instantly and liked him even more for his question. Too nervous to speak herself, she just stared again and said. Ban would later tell Kay what a lovely young Zoan Samba was, but that was later, now their attention belonged on Pin as he began to speak. Finally. As Pin spoke he addressed Samba directly calling him ‘Teen Wolf,’ whatever that meant.
Nana had tensed when Pin cursed, about to tell him off, and Kay stepped on her to gently. A nudge not to interrupt because if she did then Pin might just decide to send them away and she couldn’t stand the idea of that. “So...what’s next? I assume there’s more than just the one test, right? “

"Fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.”
Hah. Shivere couldn't care less about that prerogative. He was more interested in the "big fuckin' pile of money". Besides, the idea of mercenary work had never bothered him. Arcosians who lusted after money or combat that didn't particularly enjoy the company of other Arcosians usually ended up doing so. Shivere's own father had done the same thing.
The green-domed Arcosian crossed his arms and looked off to the side.
"Some of us don't intend on dying. As if some lowly aliens who can't fight to save their own lives could be battling against a force powerful enough to kill nearly anyone here." Looking back up at the android with a small smirk, he continued. "So, what does your organization require in new recruits?"

Samba stood back as Pin replied to his question, the wolf Zoan crossing his arms over his chest and frowning as the male kept going, it sounded good at first, and Pin certainly sounded passionate about what this group could offer, and at the mention of helping those that couldn't help themselves Samba was almost sold at joining this group, he always believed that those that were strong should help and protect the weak from those that would wish them harm.
But as all good things come to an end, he soon thought better of wanting to join this team and did his utmost best to not snarl at Pin in sheer outrage at what this team was in essence. A mercenary team, a fucking mercenary team! Only in it for the money from the highest bidder, doing all sort of jobs and errands no doubt.
Pin could go burn in hell for all that he cared about this group... but then he realized who was also wanting to join this group, and he turned astonished eyes on Kay-El. Would she really join the team, knowing what was she expected to do? He understood that she seemed to have some sort of connection with Pin, but would that drive be enough to save her from the blood that will soon enough stain her hands?
Samba gave Pin an aside glance, carefully making sure that the anger that was brewing deep within was not showing in his expression. "Yeah..." He said, sotto voce. "Sounds fine." It wasn't fine at all, but what could he do? He couldn't let Kay-El face all of this by herself, so perhaps if she asked for his help in the future he'd not mind lending a hand... he only hoped that she knew what she was doing by joining this group.
God dammit, she wasn't even an adult yet! She was merely a child! She did not have a place in a world like this!
He didn't have any more question, at least not ones that he knew what would be the answer to, so instead he stood beside Kay-El and her caretaker and watched how things would unfold for now.

Such flamboyance. Irritating as hell that one. But he watched carefully, not just their would be employer, but the others. He wasn't perfect at this sort of thing but he could pick up on some things. The arcosian was easy. Overconfident and arrogant as hell. Just like that one to think itself better than everyone else. He'd have to get stronger and beat the truth into him sooner or later. The young one, Kay-El seemed eager for some reason. Be it joining or the person he wasn't sure, but there was certainly something there drawing her in. But what amused him was the reaction the wolf zoan gave. It was hidden well as to not show when he spoke but Sake had noticed it. If only for the briefest of moments.
He had seemed outraged, and looked as if he would leave right then and there when he found out what this offer was. Sake didn't care, mercenary work was work and often allowed one to test their skills. Protecting the weak wasn't in his nature but fighting was, and getting paid to fight was better. But why did this Samba stay put? That answer was made clear when the zoan moved to stand next to Kay-el. A protective measure? Try to shelter her from the blood and destruction that came with being a merc? Maybe but that wasn't his place to judge. ' What is required of new recruits? ' That should be apparent. Be strong enough and useful enough to take on jobs. And have no reservations at all about doing any job that is handed out.
He chuckled finally. This bunch was too curious and too sure of themselves. He gave a cold uncaring tone when he spoke finally. " As long as you can promise money and fights count me in. This sounds promising and earth has long since lost it's appeal for me. Almost a shame that invasion failed. Then there would have been a good challenge on this planet. "

Pin looked each of them over, cycling through his multivisor. The Arcosian was as cold as his species had ever been, absolutely sure of himself. That was a good trait to have. The little girl was brimming with energy and excitement, running hot. She was eager and inquisitive. If he could help her temper those qualities, she could become a force to truly be reckoned with. The Saiyan was giving off heat like a furnace, just like most of his species. He also seemed eager - specifically eager for battle. He'd be well-placed into any war zone a client might request. He'd earn his cape, there was no doubt of that.
But then there was Samba, the Wolf Zoan. His body temperature had spiked, but it was hottest in the face and the gut. He was upset - Pin could almost detect it in his voice, at the end of his sentences. Samba had gotten himself into something unexpected, and he moved to Kay-El as if he felt that she, too were over her head.
"Money and fights and glory will definitely be on the table," Pin said sideways to Sake. He reached into the pocket of his flight suit, producing a small stack of zeni. "And you'll each have an opportunity to make a little money here now, just to show that I'm not all talk. Like the little girl said, there isn't just one test."
He approached Samba and placed a hand on the Zoanthrope's shoulder. He squeezed slightly, as if to offer his condolences for a lost loved one.
"I can tell your heart isn't in this. That's okay." Pin turned and walked back towards the Pixie. "Whoever takes that gutless Zoanthrope down first gets 200 zeni and the potential for a higher positon."

First the Arcosian spoke up, and Kay just stared steadfastly ahead. She did the same while the Saiyan put in his two zenis. Understanding flashed through her eyes, the opportunity to meet Pin and join with him in this...group lured her in like a fish on a line. He spoke well, she noted, glad of it. As Samba moved closer, she almost reached up to take his paw, to give it a reassuring squeeze - but she didn’t. Although Samba seemed on edge, probably because of what was happening, Nana wasn’t actually phased by it. Mostly, she allowed Kay-El to make her own decisions. During her own time with the SSE Mercenary work on the side wasn’t unheard of, and she knew how much this meant to Kay to impress Pin. As the android made his final assessment on the wolf Kay considered a friend, she bit her lower lip - a slight moment’s hesitation only those who knew her well would recognize. The hesitation was in trying to end this fight before Samba got really, truly hurt, but she knew without a doubt she would attack him. Not for the promotion, not for the Zeni, but because she wanted to impress Pin as much as possible. A second was all it took for her to process and make a decision before the the five year old shucked her weights and looked up at Samba. “ I’m so sorry,” she said, dark eyes wide, sincere. Her arms came up above her head as she began to sing, a technique he probably remembered her using on someone else - someone far more irritating and deserving than Samba ever would be - and she began to sing that slow, drifting lullaby from the day at the lake. Her breathing evened out, her heart rate slowed in her chest as she pictured the same happening to Samba, his eyes closing as he drifted into a dreamless sleep. Giving it everything she had she wondered if, like last time, it would effect more than just Samba. Either way, she focused on putting the puppy to sleep.

Samba's brows furrowed as he heard someone chuckle, and as he turned his head slightly to stare at where it came from, his sight settled on the Saiyan of the group. The words that he spoke without care or concern made his fur stand on end, a warning growl rising from deep within his chest before he crushed it down firmly before it could escalate into something. He closed his eyes, trying to will his emotions under control as he absently swiveled his ears to take focus on Pin's speech, his frown turning into a full-on scowl at this point.
He almost started at the cold hand that touched his shoulder, opening his eyes he stared at Pin's visage with narrowed eyes before brushing the hand away like it was burning him. "I don't need your pity or reassurance." Samba spatted vehemently, finally reached the end of his ropes when Pin turned, walked back towards his ship, and then had the gall to pull a target on his head!
The action made him furious, but there was something else that absolutely made him mad as hell. "Okay, first off. At least, make that five hundred, hell maybe even one thousand for my head, you cheap robotic asshole." Samba's lips peeled as he snarled, pearly white teeth bared at the male's back which he was ready to put his footprint on it, but something, or rather someONE stopped him from trying that.
The childish voice beside him drew him short, and he turned disbelieving eyes toward the small girl just as her serene singing tone reached his ears. It was just like he remembered, sweet and beautiful, not to mention very calm and peaceful. Samba's eyelids dropped quickly as his world spun around him out of control. The male could feel his will to stay awake crumble very fast, and as he fell to the ground and closed his eyes, just before he lost consciousness, the male willed with all his might to say the following words only for Kay-El to hear.
"Kay-El... be careful..." With that short message delivered the Wolf Zoanthrope was completely out of it, drifting into a peaceful dream and none the wiser from what happened in the outside world.

Shivere's gut wrenched with the agony of attempting to keep from bursting into laughter.
His face began to turn red, but quickly regained its green hue as the Arcosian watched this young girl take down a giant wolf-like being by singing. His eyes widened. Memory flooded back as he began to recognize the girl. She looked a little different now, in the daylight, than when Shivere had encountered her out in that damned forest he'd crashed into.
But what burned in his mind was the realization that this little creature could likely take him down right now if he wasn't in his true form. And even then it would be a difficult fight. A sense of respect that he had never felt for any being besides Arcosians grew inside his chest just a little. He pushed it from his mind, concentrating back on Pin and the others, but the seed had already been planted.
What else could Shivere do now? The wolf had been taken down, and there was no purpose in continuing on and attacking him.
He will most likely be unconscious for several hours at the very least...
Well, he could simply kill him. Pin hadn't said they couldn't, and sometimes it's better to eliminate the threat rather than leaving it to wake... Yet he felt something between the wolf and the demoness, and despite her power she had not continued on. She almost seemed apologetic. He couldn't fathom it - the green-domed Arcosian had never had a friendship or even a real relationship with another of his kind. He realized though that if he moved in to attack, it was likely that she would simply sing him down as well. And he did not feel the time was yet right to reveal his true form either...
It was time to watch and wait. Surely there would be more to this interview than that.

What happened in the next moments wasn't something he found particularly right. He had no problems with what was going to happen as a merc but the way this tin man went about this was just pathetic. Samba wasn't cut out for this. That was obvious. But he could see the way he was being protective of the girl. But the way Pin acted and the way he cheapened the time with such a low bid was just....wrong. To insult someone in such a manner was poor taste and it pissed him off. The way Samba responded told Sake this was a worthy warrior. Then the singing.
The little girl was a true merc alright. But something was off about it. He was still pissed about the way Pin had gone about this. The calming sound of the song made him jump back, and he focused on his anger. He wouldn't go to sleep so easily. And so help these people if they did something else that pissed him off. His hands came up and covered his ears as well.

Pin raised an eyebrow as Kay-El, this tiny, three foot tall girl sang an admittedly haunting little tune...and the big wolf Zoan just dropped like a sleepy rock. That...hadn't been Pin's intention for this at all. He'd expected a bit of a free-for-all, a throwdown. Still, the girl had followed his request to the letter. She'd literally taken Samba down.
He tried to gauge the reactions of the others. The Arcosian was still ice cold, though he seemed to be waiting for something. He'd likely set his expectations high. The Saiyan, however, looked unhappy. Whether he was mad about missing the opportunity for some quick cash or for if it was something else, Pin couldn't tell. He wasn't a mind reader and had no interest in becoming one. If the Saiyan had a big enough problem that it would break the deal, Pin was confident that he'd say something.
"And to the winner go the spoils," Pin said, tossing a small bag of Zeni at Kay-El's feet, "Not quite what I meant, but I appreciate the ingenuity. Welcome aboard, Falcon. What's your name?"
He turned to Shivere and Sake, addressing them in turn.
"This was barely a taste of what I'm offering. To be honest, it was more to see which of you would go for it first. I gotta say I'm impressed with your restraint. Neither of you went in for the kill once the wolf was down, and I'm glad for that. There will be times when our clients don't want someone dead, so knowing that you can handle that is just as important as knowing you're a badass."
He looked down at Samba and shook his head slightly.
"I was hoping to see what this guy could do, too. You don't grow up being that fluffy without learning how to knock some teeth in. Maybe next time. In any case," Pin returned to the matter at hand, "If the two of you are still interested in joining up, I just need some names and your scouter frequencies. I'll assign work as it comes in. If you're not interested, you're free to leave. I don't need a slumber party on my makeshift lawn." _______________________________________ 200 Zeni given to Kay-El.

Her eyes locked on his as she put him down, watching as the wolf fell. The fingers of one hand smoothed over the fur atop that shaggy head after those deep, green eyes closed. “I will,” she whispered, and then turned to see what the rest of the group would do. With any luck they’d see the Zoanthrope out for the count and not do him further harm. Whether Samba saw it this way or not, she’d done this for his own good. It hurt somewhere in her heart that maybe he’d look at her differently now or be afraid of her, but sometimes people had to make the hard calls. Her own dark, blue eyes looked over at the Arcosian as if she sensed his gaze. She didn’t, the move more to gauge their reactions, a fierce determination burning through her to keep this as downplayed as possible. Nice, calm, easy - Pin assigned a job, and she’d done it. For all anyone here knew that was the whole story. And as for the Saiyan, her eyes swept over him, too, but as he covered his ears she moved on. Turning her full attention back to Pin, she picked up the jacket and put it back on, feeling the weights bringing her back down both physically and emotionally. When the bag landed at her feet she jumped, a little startled, having already forgotten about the ‘reward.’ “ Kay-El,” she said simply, picking up the bag with her tail and tucking it into her own bag. This ‘Falcon’ thing, was it worth turning on her friend? Was all of this worth it? In the past, she definitely did worse and for better reasons, but this felt different. Ignoring the wriggling wrongness of it, she relaxed when Pin turned to the other two. No doubt he was right about the others, and about Samba being a good warrior - she’d seen the scars he bore on his torso for herself. In the end, she slipped on the strange, monocle like device called a ‘scouter’ she kept forgetting she had and sent Pin her information. Samba

Samba floated in a sea of darkness, his body feeling like it weighed a thousand pounds while his eyelids felt like they were holding the world on them with how heavy they were. The Wolf Zoan could distantly hear muffled voices from some place very far away. His eyes twitched minutely as he tried to make sense of them, or put a familiar face to what he was hearing.
He could faintly hear Pin saying something though most of the harder words escaped him at the moment, everything felt muddled, like looking through murky waters and trying to see your own reflection amiss the dark waves moving without a care in the world. He almost winced, startled as a thump sounded beside him, followed by the tinkling of coins shifting telling him that it was probably the bag that Pin held moments before being throw at the one that took him down.
With startling clarity, the male realized that it was Kay-El who took him down, and she had earned her 'reward' for a job well done. The Zoan did a quick check on his person and after not finding anything strange he gathered that he wasn't kicked or attacked while he was done by the Arcosian, the other Saiyan or even Pin himself after he had insulted him.
That was... not really making things better if he was honest, but it was a start. He wondered if he could still fake being asleep, but he quickly dismissed the thought when he realized how deep in trouble he would be if they knew that he had been eavesdropping on their conversation.
Samba moved his muscles slowly, trying to regain back his energy to move back and away at a moment notice, they were busy talking with each other to perhaps take notice of the downed Wolf Zoan in their midst, that suited him just fine for what he had planned. Cracking an eye open slowly, the male looked around after the world stopping shifting on its axis, and the first thing he saw was the troubled visage of Kay-El tinkering with some apparatus around one of her eyes that he distantly remembered being called as a scouter.
He waited a bit until he caught the girl's eyes, which he would then wink and try to smile reassuringly at her as if telling her that all was forgiven considering the circumstances they found themselves under. If he had some way to talk telepathically with the girl he might have told her some words of goodbye, since it seemed that this would be the last time they would meet each other considering who she was grouping off to.
Samba... didn't exactly minded that much, Kay-El would forever be Kay-El to him unless something horrific happened when she was far and away and it turned her into something else, something that couldn't be put together with the girl that he knew, and if that day ever came to pass he would... he would...
... He'd cross that bridge when he got there.
Feeling like he finally got enough energy back to his limbs, the male took a deep breath and suddenly sprang forward, his body shinning brightly with a bluish-white aura as he flew off and away into the sky, soon enough standing far up that everything looked smaller down below.
Feeling like it was time to get away from this place, Samba looked into the distance, his internal compass telling him that he was looking at the East, and with a small boom of displaced air, the male would attempt to escape this place undaunted if no one made a move to stop him.

Sake shook his head. When the girl seemed to be finished he removed his hands from his ears. Thankful for quick reaction time. If he had been as slow and caught off guard as the Zoan had been, he too would be on the ground asleep. He still found it distasteful on how Pin was insulting the fighter. But as a test, it had proven a point. Take out a target meant more than just one thing. If anyone tried to attack the Zoan, well they'd have a problem. Sake had a code of honor to him that served him well enough. And this was walking that line. He growled lightly and shook his head as he folded his arms once more.
" Your no better than the arcosians. Arrogant and think yourself better than everyone else. It shows you are not a true fighter when you insult someone in such a manner. You might want to consider that when you go about recruiting. " He looked to Samba again, noticing a very subtle motion. Was he awake already? Shrugging it off he gave a half grin. " But your right. Someone like him is gifted indeed. If he wakes and decides to follow the girl then you'll get your chance to test his skills. "
Sake reached up and tapped at the controls of his scouter. " The name is Sake. " The frequency of his scouter came up and he sent it to Pin.

Shivered smiled as he took a few moments to take everything in. The wolf-man had run off, tail between his legs, after being whipped by a five year old demoness' siren song. Interesting characters surrounded the Arcosian, and despite having a whiny monkey among them Shivere did not feel the nauseating effects of his ape-like smell. Floating a bit closer toward the group, he landed a few feet away from Sake.
"If you are going to be fighting and killing as a mercenary, Sake, then I suggest growing a thicker skin."
Without waiting, Shivere turned back toward Pin.
"I will join your 'White List', but I do not currently have my scouter on hand," he began. "My name is Shivere, of the Burr clan, born on Yardrat. You should be able to find my scouter information on any Arcosian database. I hope you don't mind the inconvenience."
[Sorry for the short post, made the mistake of not typing it up on a word doc, so I lost the original]
