The commercial break had come to an end, the fake soundboard audience was left hanging on the end of their chairs as the news pig told them that he had a special guest coming on the show after the advertisements were over. As the lights of the studio came back on with a glare in Kocha's eye, music began playing as the camera crewman did a slow circle around Kocha's desk. "Welcome back viewers! Did you -snort- miss me?" Kocha said with a wink and a grin. The sound technician turned the clapping effect on and made it seem as if an audience was cheering madly. Kocha stood up and bowed a bit. "KOCHA - KOCHA - KOCHA - KOCHA -!" the artificial crowd chanted as the pig man made dismissive gestures, as if he were trying to quiet the audience. Kocha took a seat at his desk, and took a sip from a small glass of what appeared to be a fine white win. Some of the audience whistled as he did so, but shortly after the cheering faded out. "Tonight we have been talking -snort- about Blutz Bans, and I think without further -snort- ado we should get our special guest out here!" Kocha said. "Put your hands -snort- together for the leader of our beloved Blue Banner Army, Vi-Poi !"
Tonight was big for Kocha. He needed the leader of the Blue Banner Army to look weak in front of the audience. Not because Kocha didn't think that the military leader wasn't the best thing for earth right now, but because he wanted to goad Vi into taking more action against the saiyan menace. He was sure that a bit of a bruised ego could go a long way, and he had prepared plenty of footage to show the audience- and Vi-Poi himself, that a simple pair of glasses wasn't enough to render the saiyan's harmless. Backstage a hippo woman with a strange orange wig that stuck vertically up urged Vi-Poi forward. "You're on sweetie!" the woman told him. |

Vi-Poi pulled at his stiff coat as he waited off-stage for his cue. He knew the pig zoanthrope favored militarism and anti-Saiyan sentiment, and had grown hugely popular on Earth after the invasion, and so he dressed in his military blues which had been hanging on a hanger for months untouched. The dark fabric was trimmed with light blue and gold, and a glittering silver braid around one arm framed a heavy collection of badges on his left breast, including the heavy white medallion of a World Service Medal, given to him by the Legislature after the invasion.
He wanted to blunt any criticism that might be leveled his way by the gusty Kocha. The android had downloaded every minute of the broadcast personality’s The 100% Truth series, and found it to be a mixture of strange and bombastic rantings mixed with heavy emotional appeals to the audience and hyperbolic counterfactual attacks on his guests. Still, the pig managed to weave through all the slime with impressive skill and theater.
At a cue from a hippo zoanthrope (who was wearing a very bad wig) the small blue-haired android stepped into the lights, smiling to the cameras with a friendly wave as the Blue Banner anthem blared before quickly crossing the stage to offer a handshake to the host. “Thank you for having me, I’m a big fan.” Vi-Poi said quietly to the host before, affixing himself in the hot seat and awaiting the interviewer’s onslaught with an easy smile.

Kocha eyed the young android like a snake as he took a seat next to him, but gave him a hearty grin. He picked up a small stack of papers and tapped them against the table to make the edges line up. Not that they needed to be, Kocha was just projecting a subtle bit of aggression for his audience to see. "Welcome to the show, my friend!" Kocha began. "So, what can -snort- you tell our viewers about these Blutz Bans? Do you really think that we -snort- can trust these... people... to wear them? Do you think that wives's who lost their husbands, children who have lost their parents, and cities that have lost billions of zeni are going to -snort- be made safe over night with just putting our faith that they are going to do the right thing?"Kocha was starting off with hard ball. He never wasted as much time as other hosts with pleasantries, it was part of what made him so popular.

Vi-Poi initiated a blend of presidential mannerisms in speech that he'd seen done in off-the-cuff exchanges, letting the data fuse with the natural emotions and sensibility that Poi's spirit lent him. "Well, you know, I don't look at it as a trust issue. I think if you look at what's happened over the last century, Earth's security has lost ground. And in the last few years Earth's security has basically -- even before the Saiyan War, even before the Blue Banner Revolution -- our security rating, by any metric, was much lower than it is now. There were very powerful mutants -- I think that's the phrase you use on your show -- that were constantly disrupting security because we didn't have the tools and layers of response to handle it as we do now. So, I don't mind questions about the effectiveness of Blutz Bans, because I think we can let the settled science behind them and the statistics surrounding their use speak for themselves. But these items will not solve our ongoing security crisis. We have to change the entire security structure of our galaxy. We have to reorient our entire military and society towards the future, where we're competing with entrenched interstellar powers like the Saiyans, who have extraordinary abilities that are difficult to confront and overcome. Look at the Post-War Commission I ordered. Our top experts from across the fields, xenopolitics, the military, the sciences. If you look at what the Commission suggested, there are a lot of good ideas in their report. In their review. We should implement some variation of the report which our cities can sustain. They said that the Imperial Saiyans are going to kill us, and we have to deal with them. But no one gets out of a massive planetary reconstruction climb and start building a new war machine without capital investment and loans. And the world economy is still flat on its back from the War." Vi-Poi gave an enigmatic smile. "We have to be willing to expand dramatically, despite all of these setbacks in this tough post-war environment. What the Commission says is let's start some short-term strategies to get growth going quickly, and then lets have some long-term plan -- if we can't figure out how to deal with them sooner -- for dealing with these very strong interstellar criminals, like Queen Zucceta. And I agree with that."
He wondered how the pig zoanthrope would respond to what came next. He leaned back in his chair, folding one leg atop the other, making sure the angle of incident reflected by the studio lights gleamed the brightest off the medals girdling his military jacket. "This is the the reason why, Mister Kocha, that I've decided to run for the vacant office of President. We need a leader in charge who understands all of this, with the experience, who is willing to change things dramatically to not only safeguard against this threat but to strongly overcome it. A leader who deals with the Imperial Saiyan threat with the seriousness it deserves." Vi-Poi shifted his blue gaze to the camera. "People of Earth, we need to unite and stand together against the Empire. This candidacy will not be about me. It will be about you. About each and every one of us, coming together, to tell the Empire enough is enough, in the strongest terms."
