So an interesting idea here. I've noticed that even though ICly characters don't know when an individual is planet jumping, the surprise element is kind of taken away by the travel log/departure thread.
So what if stealth spacepod travel logs were managed via PM to the staff, and they skipped the departure thread as well (provided the user has energy suppression). Of course the character would still be unable to do anything during the time that they are traveling!

Not sure how I feel about this. People use departure threads for smaller gains, maybe Zeni. And a character isn't restricted from doing anything while traveling, to my knowledge.
I find being stuffed in a Space Pod alone with your thoughts makes for great inner monologue and fantastic flashback scenes.
I agree that the surprise element is taken away from a lot of things, but that's mostly because of discussions OOCly via CBox and nothing will really fix that.

One way that could be handled is having the person withhold posting those scenes until after they arrive. A sort of retroactive solution.

I too like the PM to staff idea.

Interesting concept. Only one issue I see here. It's exploitable.
holding off posts until after you arrive means you'd be able to write a bunch of posts before you leave giving you all the time in the world.

I like the idea as well, and while a deprature thread can be useful in this case it can be an option, you can choose to make the thread thus providing OOC knowledge(assuming someone reads it) As for the whole being able to do training in a stealth ship or some sort, I like the idea of posting it once you have arrived as was suggested. Interesting concept. Only one issue I see here. It's exploitable. holding off posts until after you arrive means you'd be able to write a bunch of posts before you leave giving you all the time in the world. not really exploitable any mroe so then the current situation where one could pre-write in-transit threads or if your meaning was that they could do threads while still on there original planet that wouldent be a thing since the staff would be aware and would put and end to it.

Another thing worth considering is that I imagine training options on spacepods are sort of limited to inner monologue/flashback things because of limited room. Assuming I have read correctly & the stealth drive is for pods only. Wouldn't necessarily stop anything, but we aren't looking at grav training happening here.

It just seems like it'll be an extra thing for the mod's / a mod to pay attention to. With the expansion of the universe, I'm assuming we're going to see a lot more space travel soon. Making it publicly known isn't really a concern for me, with or without stealth drive enabled on a pod. If I were to do a departure thread, and the pod had stealth drive, I'd just expect the other players to respect that, to be honest. Though, I like your post landing, retroactive solution suggestion if it were to be a thing. I'd be all for that.

I'm good with this. Would have to doubly enforce travel logs are used otherwise. I'm looking at you, me.

I personally support this. As much as people generally seem to be good about it, there IS a bit of an OOC tendency to respond to things. Honestly, a surprise reinforcement would make things MUCH more dramatic. The Ginyus didn't know Goku was about to show up, for example.
