The Bamboo Forest, the place where everything had begun. People often considered the Bamboo Forest one of the places on Earth where stories were born, some real and others a mere product of someone's imagination. Then again, surely she wasn't the result of someone's twisted dreams? It was early in the evening, dusk had just settled in and made the canopy of trees become basked in a orange hue, and amidst the trees was a lone figure. On the surface one would have easily mistaken her as a simple child. She had a petite and fragile-looking frame, almost like a precious little doll that one would put up on a shelf and be too terrified of moving her for the risk of breaking it. However, there was something about her that made her clearly different from a human child. Disregarding the powerful pressure in her aura the child's blue-colored eyes has a certain weariness in them that no normal child possessed. The wisdom and experience that belied her innocent appearance, but there was also a clear lack of liveliness in those pretty eyes of hers. And then, perhaps finally a clear physical sign was concealed beneath her silver hair, small pointed ears that betrayed her true heritage. She stopped before a small cave that was build inside the wall of a small cliff, and finally she spoke.
"I still don't understand... Why did you take care of me Otou-san?"
It was a question that had always confused her. Why did the former Kami of Earth, the Namekian Scargot decide to place her in his care? At first she thought it was merely because the man wanted to keep her close, a threat to the world that could be carefully observed and dealt with when needed. However, as time passed she understood his true intentions. Scargot desired to help her stray from the path her creator had desired.
Nevertheless, one does not simply erase the past. Although it was merely a hallucination, or perhaps a mental reminder of the darkness that she had once embodied, but the sight of the white-colored bio-android left an uncomfortable feeling in her stomach. She had not always been someone who pursued the same type of pacifism that her father followed. There was a time that Reikiko wasn't a negotiator, but a time where she was a predator. The memories still lingered vividly on her mind, the sight of her devouring those helpless citizen that were fleeing from the chaos within West Capitol. Sure, she might have followed a 'the end justifies the means' approach, for their sacrifice made her able to aid Vipoi in defeating the main threat of their operation, but that wasn't an excuse. What about the people who lost their loved ones by her actions? What about the child that saw his mother being devoured and sworn to kill her? To them she was, and would always remain a monster.
It wasn't just her appearance, her very personality shared that predator-like attitude. While she was known to hold a rather easygoing and cheerful demeanor, whenever she sensed hostility or entered the battlefield her true nature tended to surface. Reikiko loved nothing more than a good battle, and she would gain one by any means possible. Whether that involved manipulation, harassment or even killing someone, if someone caught her curiosity then she would make them reach their full potential at all costs. Her aggressive demeanor, likely amplified by the darkness of her lineage was one of the reasons every battle she entered would become one drenched in blood, surrounded with chaos and left with only misery and regret. She was truly a monster upon the battlefield.
What made it even worse was the fact she loved martial arts, in the end it made her connect to so many people. And yet... it was that very thing that also made her lose herself to the lust for conflict.
"Is that truly the only way... is that truly the only thing I'm allowed to be?"
Tears started to flow slowly down her cheeks, soft sobs following her as the stormy clouds above had started to gather, the first drops of rain following shortly afterwards. Still, she had always believed that with the right amount of effort her deeds would make people realize her noble intentions on terms of changing herself. Avalon was rebuild as a haven for refugees, and she had even started teaching people about how to defend themselves. She used her own means in the hope of helping the powerless, and even fought and bled for the sake of Earth. And what was the end result?
"Is the only thing you can see within me, the form of a monster?!"
A helpless cry was made, but one that came without any answer as she fell onto her knees, slamming one of her fist into the ground in anger. It was unfair, she had heard the hushed whispers before, of how certain heroes of Earth were all too eager to give Natto and his people a chance to redeem themselves. They were traitors responsible for the murder of countless people, and rather than being distrustful some of those heroes were all too eager to provide them a chance! Hell, she had even tried to help the apprentice of one of those heroes become more powerful! Sure, it was partly out of self-interest, but did people consider for a fact how painful it was to see people fighting at Avalon as a result of hearing that she, someone who had been making active effort to help the people of Earth was labeled a monster? It was obvious that the people of Avalon and the BBA despised the fools who said those words, but it still left her with feelings of doubt, guilt and mostly regret. In the end, even if there were some people like Kaula who taught her about love, and someone like Vipoi who made her know friendship, it was difficult for her to consider her existence worthwhile when it caused so much suffering...
"I guess there is only one option left to take."
There was only one method, one way she could ensure that this suffering would end, that she would be able to create a brighter future. It was for that reason she had prepared this plan, even went as far as getting the help of a certain person she despised, but it was all for the sake of completing this goal of hers.
"I guess there is no use stopping you."
She could hear Reinforce's whispering voice in her thoughts, and for some reason it sounded rather gentle, and perhaps even a bit sorrowful. The child had wiped the tears from her eyes, seemingly trying to strengthen her resolve as she climbed back onto her feet.
"Yes Rein, this is the only path left for me to take..."
Although her hand was about to reach for the small pouch on her belt, the girl suddenly stopped, turning around slowly, and finally she smiled, a smile that clearly was concealing the regret and grief behind it, a pitiful mask of an actor as she spoke in the same soft voice she always used when addressing that person.
"I should have expected that you would figure things out sooner than later..."
Yes... if there was one person who would have been able to guess her intentions, then it must had been the one who had always watched over her from the very beginning.
"Hikari..."

It was a fine cake, all said and done, Vi-Poi decided. He’d spent the morning trying to make his own, following the baking instructions posted by Tania on the BBAnet, but he decided that there must have been some sort of typographical error because his cake had come out as a blackened disk that was somehow gooey in the middle, and not in a way pleasing to a biological pallate. He’d forgone attempting to make a new one and simply bought one from a nearby Bao-Mart, a cinnamon-chocolate cake with authentic vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles. The cake had Best Wishes! written on it, something he was sure was appropriate for the occasion. Currently he flew through the air, the boxed cake cradled against his stomach. He could already detect Reikiko’s familiar signature, and that of General Mint nearby. She’d gotten there ahead of time. Reikiko was going away according to Hikari, and that somewhat alarmed him. Where would the chimera being going to, exactly? Reikikko had a history of volatility, and not all of it good. She was a complicated creature, prone to being guided by emotional states. What’s more, she was his friend. With a rustle of leaves Vi-Poi shot down to the ground outside of the cave, whistling to a stop with the boxed cake perfectly intact. There he saw the little silver-haired form of Reikiko, faced off against Hikari, her hair already dyed the green color assigned to General Mint. You couldn’t have a color codename without matching hair. That was obvious. “Rei?” He asked, levitating the cake out towards her. “We’ve all been wondering where you’ve gone. What it all means. Before you go and do anything drastic, why don’t you stay and talk with us?”
He floated over to a nearby rock, resigning himself to a tertiary role as General Mint looked ready to continue on with her arguing. Reikiko , you're up!

It took only a moment before Reikiko seemingly noticed the arrival of her best friend. The android descended from the sky, seemingly asking about her intentions. It was no surprise that he had learned about her intentions, in the end Hikari likely believed that if anyone stood a chance at convincing her with force when words failed, then it would have been Vipoi. Still, there was something wrong about the presence of the android. The fact that he was here, instead of the lookout in the Western Frontiers... Could it be that the summoning ritual had already been completed?
"Vivi... I guess that the fact you're here, means that the dragon balls have been used. Good, then I can leave without worrying any longer."
The green-haired Hikari briefly turned her gaze toward Vipoi, seemingly feeling a bit more reassured now that Vipoi had joined her side. It was only for a moment however, for her eyes soon turned their gaze back toward the silver-haired child before her, deciding to continue their argument.
"Where are you going Rei? Why didn't you tell anyone your plans? I'm sure I, Administrator Azure or Kaula would have gladly accompanied you!"
However, those words merely caused Reikiko to shake her head lightly in response. There was no way she could invite them on this journey, in the end it would be a one-way trip. The girl raised a hand toward her chest, seemingly taking a deep breath in an attempt to muster the courage to reveal her intentions when she finally continued speaking.
"I'm afraid I can't take any of you along with me. This journey will be even more dangerous than anything we faced before... And it's a journey without a 'they lived happily ever after'."
Her cryptic explanation seemed to confuse Hikari, and for a moment Reikiko thought she could possibly get away with a simple explanation like that, but that would be a disservice to the years-long friendship she held with the two of them. It was for that reason Reikiko turned her gaze away and whispered just loud enough for the two of them to hear her.
"I'm going to erase my existence..."
The words caused Hikari's eyes to widen in disbelief, seemingly baffled by the declaration of the girl. To erase her own existence... It would mean as if Reikiko had never existed... Nobody would remember her, not even the two of them who were among those closest to the girl!
"Why?! Why would you even consider such a thing!"
The child's gaze remained averted from the duo as Reikiko finally revealed the thoughts that had been haunting her for so long.
"A monster..."
The moment Hikari tried to take a step forwards it were the words that were shouted that caused her to freeze on the spot.
"It's because I'm a monster! No matter how much I try, people always only see the monster within me! I worked so hard to make people realize that I'm not just a fiendish creature! I helped turn Avalon into a shelter for the refugees from the Saiyajin invasion, I tried to teach them the secrets Tamako-sensei taught me... I would have even be willing to die for the sake of this planet! And what did I get in return? THE PEOPLE OF THIS PLANET WOULD RATHER BE FRIENDS WITH THE VERY PEOPLE WHO WERE SLAUGHTERING PEOPLE BY THE THOUSANDS THAN TO TRUST ME!"
The tears had started to resurface and yet alongside the sobs Reikiko's haunting thoughts continued to be expressed.
"Did you think I was ignorant of the whispers? Of how even the very people I once tried to help talk about me in whispering hushes? Some of those 'heroes' were willing to befriend 'that' guy! And considered me a threat to be wary of, described me as a cruel abomination who would backstab Earth and devour it the first opportunity I was given! How do you think I felt when people on Avalon started fighting cause some people were influenced by those thoughts from the people they perceived as the 'real' heroes?"
So that was it... The fact that her entire existence had always been considered nothing but that of a monstrous abomination. For a monster this would have been a natural thing, they wouldn't even worry about it... But then what about a monster who was trying so hard to become an ordinary girl? Was the only path she could take, that of a monster?
"But what about those who do care about you Rei? What about those who love you and see you for what you truly are?"
Yet Hikari's question seemingly triggered something inside Rei, for her aura briefly flared outwards, perhaps a show of her emotions as she yelled even more loudly than before.
"How do you think I feel when I'm just a burden to those I love?! Kaula became considered a traitor cause she wanted to help me protect this planet, she was even forced to fight her own mother! My own past nearly KILLED you, and Vivi... My mere association with you caused some people to already label the Blue Banner Army as a lair of murderers, monsters and tyrants rather than the real guardians of this planet that they actually are! I didn't forget the amount of troubles the two of you went through when I had to devour those fleeing citizen in order for us to stand a chance when we fought that Supah Saiyajin."
Another step was made by Hikari, but this time her approach was suddenly halted when Reikiko's words caused her to freeze on the spot.
"STAY BACK! You know it's true! You two seen me personally on the battlefield. I only truly feel alive when I get to crush a worthy enemy with all my might, this disgusting excitement causes me to show the very cruelty and sadistic attitude people fear... Everywhere I go chaos and bloodshed follow, and the only thing I leave in my wake is suffering and regret... You both know that I'm a monster!"
It seemed that a retaliation was going to be in Vipoi's court, because Hikari clearly was shaking from a mixture of anger and sorrow. Anger at the world for having been so intolerant and oblivious to Reikiko's attempts to redeem herself, and sorrow at the suffering the girl was forced to bear.
"That is why I'm going to travel into the past and erase my very existence, so that the world won't ever had to deal with this plague known as Reikiko..."
Wait... travel into the past?! How was such a thing even possible? She didn't hear that the Blue Banner Army had developed such technology... Was there someone else, a different benefactor who gave Reikiko such a means, but for what reason?

Vi-Poi listened patiently to the strange argument, hmming at several parts and idly tasting a lick of frosting. The high fructose content was impressive. He wondered if it’d appeal to a biological. When an appropriate lull entered the argument between Reikiko and General Mint Vi-Poi ahem’ed and floated down from his rock.
“I’m afraid I see several problems with your plan, Reikiko. First off, going backwards in time is a scientific impossibility with our current technology. Every single photon in every single probabilistic phase space travels at exactly the speed of light. This non-error sequence means that even our faster-than-light drives like my warp boots or our spacecrafts follow a worldline that is always internally-consistent at every part in the Universe. We’ve tried to replicate a wormhole that is able to do more than point-to-point travel, and it’s possible in theory, but by the time we send a probe through the probability wave collapses and turns consistent again. There is some speculation that Capsule Corp has a secret blueprint for some machine, but if there is one we’ve never found it.”
He let his words sink in, then brought up a second finger, this one also covered with frosting. “Point two, even if you can go back in time, it will be a very bad idea to do so if your goal is to erase yourself. Do you know how many casual errors will occur? What if the worldline we’re on doesn’t shift, it just breaks? If you were to never exist I might have never met Scargot, at least not in a peaceful way. I’d likely have ended up a charred husk in the streets of West City after our fight with the Super Saiyan. And even if I prevailed, there would have been no one to stop Realigner Red from destroying the Earth. And if somehow Realigner was destroyed, the toll would have been far worse on the planet, leaving it ill-prepared for the Saiyan invasion. That Super Saiyan Level Two we faced during the invasion might have not been so easily dissuaded, were it only me to fight it.”
He folded his arms, shaking his head. “Whatever you’re planning to do, it likely won’t work, and if it does work, it will be bad. Don’t make me try to stop you.” He warned, leveling Reikiko with a stern blue gaze.

The little nod Reikiko made with her head confirmed the fact that the child was already aware of the technological aspects of her plan, and one might had even considered it surprising that the child was seemingly able to comprehend such details. It was not a surprise that Vipoi thought it was impossible, in the end he had control over the Blue Banner Army, and even Capsule Corporation, the pioneer in science on the blue jewel seemed to be incapable of producing a functional device yet. Not even her father, one of the greatest scientists in history had been able to produce such a device, even if it frequently entertained his thoughts.
"You're right... This type of machine would be too much, at least for human technology. However, what about those that go beyond our level?"
She lowered a hand back into the pocket of her vest, gripping the small capsule even more tightly. It was a subtle hint, a hint that there might had already been ways to accomplish this mysterious ability to travel into time. Her creator speculated the possibility, and her sister actually had once been in contact with such technology... However, the nature surrounding that contact was rather suspicious at best.
"I..."
The girl had gone silent as Vipoi started to expose the flaws of her plan one after another. It was the tragic truth, and one that she didn't sit idle by until now, but if she had never existed... then history as they knew it would have likely changed remarkably. The grand campaign where the Blue Banner Army took control over Earth would have likely ended up in a failure, with the android being reduced to nothing but a husk at the end of his skirmish with the malicious Super Saiyan Athren, but even if the android was capable of repairing himself, the failed attempt would have left the government in a pure state of chaos. While she firmly believed that if she didn't exist, the heroes of Earth would still have been able to best Realigner Red, the thought that a lot more casualties would have fallen didn't escape her. Would there have even been enough manpower for Earth to be able to stop the Solar Saiyan Empire's invasion? Unlikely...
"Then tell me what to do Vi!"
However, before the android would have been able to response a surge of energy pulsed from nearby, and Reikiko was just in time to see Hikari's body being coated in an yellowish golden aura, a sign she was transcending into the state of a super saiyan. Despite the fact that the newly appointed general was swift, far swifter than she remembered, her movement was a bit sluggish, perhaps deliberately because it allowed Reikiko to easily lift both her arms to intercept the blow, the pain of Hikari's knuckle having hit her, leaving a slight stinging sensation.
"This isn't like you Reikiko!"
A second fist collided against her arms, this time clearly with more pressure as she felt her feet being dragged backwards through the dirt. To think that even without fully turning into the state of a Super Saiyan Hikari was still showing such power... It was a little bit terrifying to be honest. Or perhaps, she herself had become weaker?
"The old Reikiko wouldn't have been so troubled about the opinions of others!"
Was she never troubled about what others thought about her? There was some truth behind that declaration. The Reikiko she used to be was far less emotional. She was the type who would disregard the opinions of the public, because she was more than clever enough to manipulate those people into looking at her in a way she wanted! The whole scheme with the Blue Banner Idol contest clearly shown that. An innocent contest, and with her clever approach she had been able to gain an impressive amount of loyalty from the Blue Banner Army soldiers in the span of a single day. Those soldiers had shown repeatedly just how far her manipulation had reached, they willingly fought for her, to protect her from danger during the grand campaign in West Capitol, and even perished for her sake during the battle against Yuriko.
"What you need to do is... BECOMING THE CHIMERA ONCE MORE!"
The third punch seemingly broke through Reikiko's defense, knocking her backwards into a tree, the crash seemingly having been delivered with some brutality as the tree cracked under the pressure of the attack and finally tumbled backwards onto the ground. Reikiko's eyes had been closed, but it was difficult to predict if she had lost consciousness or was lost in thought. For Reikiko it did take a moment for her to collect her thoughts. Was Hikari really suggesting for her to revert to her old self? To the type of personality she had as a bio-android? It was true that during those days she wasn't burdened with such foolish things like worrying about the way others perceived her. Then again, it was also quite clear that the life of a pacifist was not the life she cared for. It was a beautiful dream, but simply a dream, one more suited for a dreamer like her father.
"I never wanted to admit it. Even after the invasion of the Saiyajin I still hold that same desire that drove me so many years ago. This isn't about becoming a deity, or becoming the perfect being..."
The girl climbed back onto her feet her aura seemingly expanding outwards into the bright silver aura that she was known to possess. That nostalgic sight of the cocoon that consumed her form, allowing her to ascend into her true state of being, the Ascended Homunculus. The black raven wings stretched outwards, a powerful gust of wind slightly knocking Hikari backwards as she turned her gaze toward Vipoi, her lips curving into a grin as she pointed toward the android.
"But it's only a faint feeling right now... Help me rekindle that flame Vivi. Help me remember that desire, the reason why I fight. In the end within this realm you're the closest to what I would perceive as a rival."
That's right, the desire to fight, not for the sake of inflicting suffering but in the hope of finding a worthy opponent to challenge. Even if it had been a part of the reason behind her creation, the desire to become the strongest being in the galaxy was a natural thing for her. And the only way for her to obtain this desire... was by challenging the very people who stood on that stage...
"This is your responsibility as one who is among the strongest beings in our realm! To inspire each other to greater heights, to surpass our limits and become even more powerful than a day ago. That's our job as Martial Artists!"
She slowly stepped forwards, her wings slowing their beat as she mused playfully.
"I do hope you won't use that cake as an excuse to decline my challenge. Because Androids don't exactly get fat."
Hikari blinked in confusion, yet when she was about to speak the Homunculus interrupted her.
"It's alright Hikari. I think I finally found a purpose to pursue, whether Vivi will help me able to find it... remains to be seen. Also green looks kind of cute on you. Makes me wonder if you'll have a 'mint flavor'..."
The hybrid's cheeks flushed up lightly in embarrassment, seemingly powering down her aura as she merely observed the two of them. What answer was Reikiko going to search for, and would Vipoi be able to provide it? Only time would tell...
"Baka... I hope the administrator gives you a nice spanking for making me worry..."

Vi-Poi pursed his lips sternly after watching the quick exchange of blows and hearing the chimera’s words. Reikiko was strong, very strong. Stronger than him, perhaps. She’d always had a slight edge, no matter their encounter. It was a useful lesson to any sentient. There was always something stronger out there.
“Very well. Challenge accepted.” Vi-Poi said, nestling one metal-clad heel back in the dirt, a knife hand raised in a warding stance. “You seek to eliminate your nature, when you can instead strike a balance with it. The Universe is an entropy machine, where energy is ungirding itself. You are a brief bump in that road, a resistance to that infinite dissipation, where energy can be collected and put into order. Consumption of lesser order is required for the greater order to subsist. Energy retention from the laws of thermodynamics is not possible without this fact. And this is not inherently immoral. You can learn to channel your innate urge and your natural hunger into outcomes that are beneficial to the planet and its people. The fact that you have to eat says nothing of your morality.”
He burst forward with all of his speed, suddenly attacking Reikiko with a swift chopping blow of his wrist at her temple, intending to quickly disable and incapacitate her so that she wouldn’t be able to go back in time. Should she dodge or block the attack, he would continue with a flurry of jabbing punches and a wheeling storm of kicks, keeping his mind open and alert to the possibility of any counter attacks. He knew he was going up against one of the best fighters in the Universe.
And he was preparing himself for the retaliation.
