A black, empty void spread before Celmaru Waterfield within his subconsciousness. Celmaru himself floated aimlessly throughout the void, patiently waiting for something to happen.
"P...th....ic...." a voice rang, "We...k...ing..."
"Huh?" Celmaru spoke, "What was...?"
Shortly after Celmaru completed his sentence, a large silhouette appeared before him. The figure had short, protruding horns, and a face other than human. The figure made a grunt of annoyance, repeating it's previous remark.
"Pathetic! Weakling!" It yelled.
Startled, Celmaru stood....rather, as well as he could, floating in a lifeless void. He deep blue aura flashed around him, flickering like a gentle flame. The figure, unmoving, laughed maniacally at Celmaru in retort. Feeling resentment towards the silhouette, Celmaru lashed out at the black entity, but to no avail. Celmaru's simple punching maveuver failed, phasing through it and leaving Celmaru to fall. Losing any control of his flight path, and his energy, Celmaru began to free fall....with the void opening up to a abandoned planet surface. The atmosphere, Celmaru immediately found out, was near non-existent. Beginning to choke, and fall at a highly-increasing velocity, Celmaru was simply doing the rational thing: freaking out.
"Urk....gack...." Celmaru choked, "......Grrraaaaah!!!"
Celmaru, returning to reality, began to go into a fit of spasms, briefly beginning to slide off a roof. Not fully aware of his awakening, Celmaru continued to spasm on the roof.
"Gck....Gah!" Celmaru screamed, "....Huh?"
Finally, Celmaru realized his return to reality. Celmaru also realized that he was sliding off his roof.
"Uwah!" Celmaru exclaimed, "Don't....!"
Celmaru frantically tried to focus his ki below him, but to no avail. Celmaru briskly fell of the rooftop, landing on the grass below him.
"...Celmaru?.....What happened?" A familiar voice asked.
"Ow....ow...Kami, that hurts more than one would think...." Celmaru whimpered, rubbing his injured behind.
Behind him, a simple, oak wood door opened softly, and a fragile frame appeared. Standing at an unimpressive 5' 3", Celia Waterfield walked outside her home, looking for her child with a concerned face. Celia had a sky blue quilt draped around her, with a white blouse, and beige long skirt underneath. Her flowing, sandy blonde hair had scattered gray streaks, and was tied near its end in a micro-ponytail. Celia's face was etched with wrinkles from raising a (half) Saiyan child, and her dark brown eyes writ with concern for her only offspring. Looking off to her left, she found Celmaru sitting in the lawn in front of her, rubbing an injury.
"Celmaru....what happened?" Celia called, "Did you fall off the roof? You told me that you could fly just fine..."
"Yes, Mother....I can fly fine enough, and yes, I did fall off the roof..." Celmaru said, blushing, "Its not a big deal, though."
Celmaru stood up, turning to look at his Mother. He flashed a small grin, confirming his healthy condition.
"See? I'm fine." Celmaru said.
"....." Celia stared at her son, still somewhat concerned, "Whatever you say, Celmaru."
Celia turned to return to the safety of her home, beginning to close the door behind her.
"Wait!" Celmaru said, frantically following his Mother, "Don't leave me out here, its still cold out..."

The inside of Celmaru's family home was an average suburban house, but it was decorated well for the late holidays. Ornaments, baubles, tinsel, even a small tuft of mistletoe hung around Celmaru. He enjoyed his Mother's company, and always returned home for times like these, even with the threat of death above him and his planet.
"Seems somewhat silly," Celmaru thought, "But I can't just leave my Mother alone, in solitude."
Celia entered the living room with sugar cookies and tea, all placed meticulously on an aluminum platter. Celia placed them gently on the coffee table, awaiting Celmaru's hand to reach for one.
"Still got cookies left over?" Celmaru asked, one eyebrow raised. "I thought you would've eaten them all."
"I have other family besides you and your Father," Celia began, "And they happen to love my cookies."
Celmaru reached for a cookie, but refrained from eating it. He held it in front of him, staring at it.
"Have you heard anything from Father?"
"No....I haven't." Celia responded, sadly.
Its been months since Toma II had left the planet to fight "The Black Death"....contact was lost after 6 weeks. The two sat in silence for nearly a full minute. Tired of the depressing silence, Celia clapped her hands together, and said:
"Well! Besides your Father, how has your training been going?"
Internally thanking his Mother for changing the subject, Celmaru responded:
"The training has gone well, although I hope that I'll find a partner soon."
"Why is that?" Celia wondered.
"Father had said when I was young," Celmaru started," 'Training Partners always make training more fun and efficient, even a child like you can help me train more!' ....I hope to have a similar effect, an efficiency boost of sorts."
"Make sure they know what you do, and make sure they understand your reasoning."
".....Mother, are there any Scouters left?"
"No, I think your Father took the last one, why?" Celia asked.
"It'd probably make my life easier to find someone." Celmaru said, laughing softly.
"I'm sure it'll be easy enough, dear." Celia said, smiling, "You attract all kinds of powerful people."
"Thank you Mother..." Celmaru said, looking down.
Celmaru went into deep thought, flicking his capsule lightly.
"Hmm...." Celmaru thought, "Who could I find? An alien? Someone Human?"
"By the way, Celmaru," Celia started, "The Gravity Chamber broke down last week....The system overloaded and some wires were crushed by metal plates under all that gravity. Most of those wires were ripped apart because of that."
Celmaru merely nodded in response. "I can take a look at it, or just purchase another. Don't fret about it too much Mother."
Shortly after Celmaru finished his remark, a yell permeated throughout the house.
"Hey! You alien freak!....Get out here!" A gruff voice said, "If you don't, we'll do the usual!"
Celmaru sighed and looked behind him. Outside the window, three adults, those that tormented Celmaru in his youth, stood in the yard with weapons. The leader (of sorts), wielded a knife. The other two branded firearms.
"Celmaru, I know what you're thinking, don't do it." Celia said, beginning to worry once more.
"Its fine Mother, really." Celmaru began, cracking his knuckles, "Some just never learn their lesson."
Celmaru left the comfort of his Mother's couch, and entered the nearby hallway to exit his home. His footsteps seemed to echo in Celmaru's emptying mind.
"Focus," Celmaru thought, concentrating subconsciously, "Hold back, don't kill them...."
Exiting the building and closing the wooden door behind him, Celmaru began to confront the ruffians.
"Glad you showed your ugly half-breed face, loser." The leader said, "Too bad we couldn't rough someone up first, though."
"Yeah!" One of his goons said, following up his superior's statement, "Like yo Momma! Kekekekee! She's so pathetic, hiding behind her son like this!"
Celmaru sighed once more, beginning to walk towards the louts with a brisk pace. When Celmaru was within arm's length of the Leader, Celmaru stared at him, letting him make the first move. Celmaru's brow furrowed, and a vein sprouted at his right temple.
"Go ahead." Celmaru said seriously, "Insult my Mother again."
