(Thread PL: 191,184) ( Onihime Ketsu) The Western Frontiers. Not the final frontiers by any stretch of the the imagination, but they were indeed frontiers. And they were lands that Raisu intended to explore. He had, of course, been there a few times before. The forests and the West Capitol had been explored by him time and time again, though most of his time in the West Capitol had been spent in a little bar called the Monkey’s Paw. He hadn’t been there in a while, however. How was it doing? Raisu hadn’t even seen the owner in some time, not since that night that the full moon was high in the sky and Raisu had embraced the beast inside. Come to think of it, he hardly remembered the night at all. A shame he couldn’t, and an even greater shame he hadn’t mastered the Oozaru form of his Saiyan forebearers. Still, it was a good thing he’d not managed to destroy anything among the western frontiers when he was a raging ape. It was quite nice out here, if a little plain. Raisu flew over the grasslands of the west. He laughed to himself. Plain. Now that was clever, if he did say so himself. Of course, someone else would ream him out for that: Tsu Kini, his old teacher. He’d have to watch the puns when she returned. The dying old woman probably couldn’t handle them. His smile turned to a frown. She was dying. The woman who was like a grandmother to him. Dying. He didn’t want to believe it, but he had too. She was getting up there in years, and people did not live forever. Not even close. A sad fact, but that’s how the world worked. Slowly, Raisu landed. He needed to walk this off, chase the thoughts from his mind some how. At least his mother was alright… He still had here. His mind was so occupied, he did not even think to mask his ki signature. Whatever happened would happen. His mind was just too busy to care.

Attempting to track the hours had long been a thing of the past. On her back, Onihime was shaded by the tent that was her temporary home, a home away from home. For most of her life she had only slept in one structure, one room really, so the blonde was not exactly fond of change. Of course when Seichko-sama came calling, that was the exception. There was no one else that Onihime would suffer the heat of the frontier for, the shade she now resided in only able to offer a slight reprieve from the Sun's harsh rays.
The worst part about it? Seichko-sama had been required to go elsewhere for the better part of the day and Onihime's job was to protect their tiny camp. Nothing of incredible value was here, but Seichko-sama explained it was more than the value of territory that made it important. Ultimately, Oni had understood and accepted her task with a smile. Besides, time alone was time to dream. The word meant something different to the girl than it did many others. Her dreams were not of the natural sort.
Chemicals flooded her system, the various mixed reagents allowed the girl to slip into a state of euphoria like no other. Above her the canvas of her tent was a bland green to the normal eye, but she saw so much more than that. For her the flat surface was a canvas of endless images, all vanishing before truly being comprehended. Only she saw them, but that was all that mattered. The secrets revealed in them were for her mind alone and even Seichko-sama, amazing as she was, did not understand. In her endless quest to please her boss, the one thing she had never been willing to give up for her was her addiction. Thankfully, Seichko had never pushed the issue, Onihime's talents far out weighing her vice.
Perhaps that was because even when lost in her altered states she was often still aware of the directives she had been given. For that reason she noted the signature that drew close to the camp. Tucked along a large rock which rose from the sand, the figure was out of site, but definitely close.
Damn it...always being interrupted…
Onihime scrambled for the downer she had left alongside her sleeping bag. Partially numb fingers struggled to find it. Her blind grasps resulted in handful after handful of hot sand. She then rolled to the side, eyes peeled away from the visions above her to search for the syringe. There it was….50 feet away from her, at the center of the camp. How had she forgotten to take it with her? A groan escaped the girl's lips as she managed to get on all fours. Like the rest of her body, her legs were jello. As she crawled forward she prayed she might reach the downer before this trespasser reached her camp.

A ki signature pinged in his mind, suddenly intruding on his mind. A small one. Well, not small. Small compared to most signatures he met, but much larger than the average human's ki. And it was so close. How had he not noticed before? And then he realized, he'd just been so absorbed in his own thoughts, he hadn't even noticed. Stupid of him, really. What if this person was hostile? Or even worse, what if someone like Natto had snuck up on him when he was in this state? He shuddered to think about it.
But for now, he'd turn towards the ki signature. Raisu closed his eyes and focused. It was coming from among the rocks. Raisu frowned. Had he stumbled upon someone's hideyhole? Some kind of traveler seeking shelter from the elements of the Western Frontiers? Who knew? And Raisu decided there was only one way to find out: he walked slowly towards the rocks. He didn't want to spook them...

Oni managed to make her way to the center of the camp, the small blonde finally able to clasp her hand around the downer she had mistakenly left there. She shifted to a seated position before she jammed the needle into her leg. Her eyes went wide as she felt the rush of chemicals shoot through her system. In an instant she was fully aware and focused, senses shifted to focus on the signature again. Part of her was a bit angry she had been pulled from the euphoric state she loved to so much. Her luck, this individual was just some passerby and she had taken her downer for no real reason. However, the off chance it was an approaching threat was something she couldn’t overlook, she could not disappoint Seichko-sama.
Still seated on the ground, her neck craned up to the large rock formation that hung over their camp. It was the best vantage point and would allow various escape routes if need be. Lifting from the ground, Oni floated into the air above her tent. Up she went, her head soon poked over the top of the boulder before she saw the man that slowly approached her location. Hot wind whipped her blonde locks about her face, partially concealing it as she called out to the stranger.
”Who are you and what are you doing here?” The tone of her voice was not the friendliest, but she wasn’t exactly in a good mood. Most of the time she cared little for what others thought, save Seichko-sama, and even less so when being bothered, so her gruff approach was not uncommon. Onihime’s hands rested on her hips as she floated.

A blonde woman floated before him. So she was the source of the ki. Not bad, he thought. Still, it was quite the interesting greeting. Raisu scratched the back of his and grinned. It was not as if Raisu could blame her. He was the interloper in this scenario, not the other way around. Though often, he played this exact role in plenty of encounters before. Raisu simply tended to wander. Some might even call it him lost. But he didn't think so. It certainly made for interesting moments. Like this, potentially.
"Hey," he shouted, "I'm Raisu and I was just passing through when I felt your ki signature. I thought I'd swing by and say 'hi'!"

The friendly greeting through the young girl for a loop. For the better part of her life she had been treated like an asset more than anything. The idea of friendship and casual conversation had not been introduced to her until Seichko had taken over the organization. Even with how close she had grown to the woman, she had no other close relationships. That was just fine with her, there was no reason to have such ties to others as there was no benefit to be gained. Onihime’s life had been a secluded one beyond the target she had been told to eliminate so the concept of casual interaction was a little beyond her.
Floating in the air she said nothing at first, no attempt to hide her stare as she scanned him over. He was strong, she could tell that, but beyond the signature that radiated from him he looked rather normal…well except for the tail that hung behind him. A Saiyan…that was the name right? She had heard of them and seen them on screens, but never in person. Slightly distracted by the extra appendage, she couldn’t take her eyes off of it. He had made no threat to her…so why not let her curiosity take control for a little?
”Hello…Raisu. Did you have any objective you hoped to accomplish by saying hi?” Even her word choice reflected her upbringing, objectives and assignments the main focus of her time with the syndicate. As she spoke, her eyes remained in his tail. Such a strange feature for a creature to have. Why were they so similar to humans, except a few features? How curious.

Damn, he thought, she was ice cold. Raisu almost thought that she could be a robot of some kind, given her answers. But he knew that couldn't be true. She looked, and felt, all too human. It almost made Raisu uncomfortable. Almost. He frowned ever so slightly. He was used to people being icy at this point. That didn't mean he'd ever be used to it. Raisu was a social creature by nature. Still, she hadn't attacked him. That was a good thing, he thought. Of course, it was a sad day when he expected a fight to come out of nowhere.
"Uh," he said, "No, not really. I mean, I just kind of wanted to swing by and talk, I guess. The road's long, you know, and I've gotta keep my head occupied somehow."
And it was true. Anything to change his current frame of mind, anything at all. He wasn't quite keen on remaining in this state of mind. Perhaps this encounter would be the one... Or not.
"Sorry if I'm bothering you," he added quickly.

Many times she had heard the saying “curiosity killed the cat,” but that simple wasn't true. Whatever had killed the cat, killed the cat. Whether it had been Seichko-sama’s sudden departure or the following time alone, Onihime was quite bored. The idea of training all by her lonesome was not an appealing one and this stranger had already pulled her from her favored style of retreat. Clicking her tongue once at his words, she had a nagging feeling they were dishonest. Who in their right mind just travelled and talked with random people along the way? To someone with a mostly controlled lifestyle such an idea was ludicrous. Perhaps that in itself was what had her mildly interested.
”Talk you say?” Her deceivingly soft eyes scanning him over yet again. ”Very well, come sit if you like, but you best have something interesting to talk about. At least more interesting than this hellhole of a dustbowl I have been calling home.” With the she turned and headed down for her small camp. Lazily dropping from the air, she settles right onto one of the rocks that had been designated as a seat near the smoldering fire pit. Was there a chance she was planning on cooking something? Had he stumbled upon her at the right time to get a free meal? Would she attempt to kill him if he somehow offended her came across as threatening? Who knew, but in the very least he had been invited to sit. (Sorry it's short, but holidays and all heh.)

Raisu had to grin a little as he made his way across the dusty path to the camp. It seemed even the iciest people could be thawed a little with the right words. Of course, for all he knew, he could be striding into the lion's den. Of course, it would not be the first time that Raisu had done something so... naive. For the tiniest moment, he frowned to remember the Brenchian bot BREU. Raisu paused for a moment and glanced up at the sky. What had ever happened to that monster? No, best if he didn't think about. Shaking his head, he continued into the camp.
It seemed like a nice enough place, if simple. His host was sat nearby on a rock, in front of a fire pit that burnt only ever so slightly. Raisu raised an eyebrow. How long had these people been camped here? Well, he didn't pay it that much thought. Instead, Raisu took a seat on a stone across from his 'gracious' host. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all, he thought to himself. Of course, he was still half expecting her to throw embers in his face or the like. It was hard to tell with some people. It'd be best if he really did talk about something interesting. But what?
"So, uh," he began, searching for anything to talk to her about, "You ever see a dragon?"
(Hey, it's cool. I'm right there with you!)

”I have.” The speed and certainty she answered with perhaps a bit of a surprise to her current company. A dragon was a creature that existed no doubt, but few saw them. They weren’t exactly as common as your average household pet. Of course the dragon’s Onihime spoke of were not ones that existed in this realm. The small blonde had never seen an actual creature in the flesh, only those that appeared in her visions. Not one to openly try and deceive another, she was quick to further explain her response.
”Well not a real one of course…just the image of one” A small shrug of her shoulders made it seem as if she was intended to leave it at that, head starting to turn away from him, but then it paused. With a small spin she was again focused across the fire, eyes back on him.”Why? Have you ever seen one?” Again her curiosity seemed peeked. It was a strange question after all, especially when it was the first one you asked of a person you had just met. If his goal had been to draw her into conversation it appeared to be working thus far.
Onihime’s left leg lifted to cross over her right as her hands came to rest on her upraised knee. It was a rather proper and girlish compared to how gruff she had been so far. Maybe the girl camped out in the middle of nowhere had some manners after all? Little did Raisu know that he would have been dealing with a completely different woman if Seichko had been here with them. When her boss was around, Oni always behaved herself.

Raisu grinned. So, it had been enough to draw the ice queen into conversation. Raisu scratched his head and leaned in, looking the woman in the eye. He'd looked at his fair share of sights, but the dragon had been something different indeed. Raisu could see she was interested. Who wouldn't be interested in a dragon?
"Well," he began, running a hand through his red hair, "I have seen a dragon. And not just any dragon."
Raisu paused for a moment, letting her imagination run for a moment. Surely, he had her interest now. And hopefully, he could retain it. Raisu held his hands out, as if to indicate size.
"It was huge, green with red eyes and horns. And it spoke, deeply, like a person."
Raisu brought his hands together in a clap.
"Did I mention it was magic?"

Onihime was curious, but not sure she believed him. Eyes locked with his, the blonde doesn’t shy away as he leans in. Dragons, magic…what we he about to add in, magic? The tale was interesting to be sure, but most likely not true. Already she was wondering if he had any proof to this tail. It sounded so farfetched and the blonde was already wondered what he might add when he added the word magic.
A small snort came from her as a result, the male having pushed a little too far in terms of keeping her belief. Eyes locked on him, the woman tilts her head slightly before she spoke.
“So, this magical talking dragon that you saw, what proof do you have that you saw it?” The look she gave him along with the words supported them, her features twisted to make a “prove it” face. Hands still atop her knee Onihime held the position as she waited for any proof that he might be able to provide.

Raisu rubbed his chin for a moment. Now that was a hard thing to prove indeed. It was not as if he had thought to take pictures of the mighty Shenron, thought it certainly would have been nice if he could. It would certainly make telling stories like this a bit easier. But Raisu knew he wasn't utterly without proof.
Raisu locked eyes with the woman and smiled, a confident smile. Few people could deny that there was something magical about when one considered all the strange things that had happened. Strange things that could only be explaining by magic. Raisu cleared his throat, "Proof? The proof should be plain to anyone. Namek is no longer destroyed. Parts of the North Capitol rose like magic. What more proof do you need?"
Raisu knew what is eyes had seen. He would never forget that. He'd stared into the eyes of Shenron, just as he was staring into her eyes.

Hmmmm…he didn’t shy away from her request for proof nor did he speak softly. From her experience that meant he wasn’t lying. Those who spoke falsely often averted their gaze or lowered the volume of their voice to hide the fact they were not telling the truth. Raisu seemed surprisingly honest in a world that was full of liars. Naturally, Onihime only trusted Seichko and no others…but she was willing to give this one the benefit of the doubt until she had reason not to.
What he provided as an example actually had her eyes widening a little. Namek had been restored? North Capitol had been at least partially rebuilt? Having been in the dessert with Seichko-sama she had heard nothing of this, her world not including much beyond the syndicate she worked for and the missions tied to it. Oh…and the drugs. Still, she planned to draw this out a little.
”All of those sound well and good, but I am still just taking your word for it am I not?” The blonde’s brow lifts with the question. ”If I told you I was a princess would you believe me? Or perhaps if I told you I was over 100 years old?” Her arms then lift to offer another shrug, but he might also notice the small smile on her face. She was half serious and half messing with him.

Raisu caught the glint of a grin, a small crack in the veneer of ice the girl seemed to have around her. Well, he thought, it seems even the coldest ice might melt a little. The grin on his own face grew wider. He was enjoying this now. Quite the interesting encounter in the middle of the western frontiers. It almost took his mind away from that little tragedy looming on the edge of his mind, teetering, threatening to crash down on him. But that was far away for now.
"Well," he laughed, "Maybe. It would depend on how convincing you were, princess. I don't think I'm a gullible guy, but hey. The right words might convince me you're a hundred year old princess."
Raisu chuckled to himself and leaned back, looking up at the sky. So clear, he thought. Bright too. Not like the sky that had accompanied the dragon. No, Shenron had arrived on dark clouds and strange lights. Even the very thought of it still sent a shiver down his spine, like he'd been doused with cold water. His entire body shook, and brought his head back down to look at his host.
"Trust me, stranger, I've seen some strange things. Some good, some terrible, and some absolutely horrid, but if there's one I'll never forget, it's the image of that dragon floating before me."
Raisu tilted his head to the side and looked at her, trying to maintain eye contact all the while.
"Well, princess, whether you believe me or not, it's up to you. But I hope you do, because it was a miracle."
