Race Name: Gratonians (Shapeshifters)
General Body Build: The Gratonians do not have an actual body build that is specifically set in stone. They can range anywhere from fat, to skinny, to muscular, and to anything else in between. In short, there is nothing ‘too ridiculous’ body wise, as long as it is well within acceptable boundaries.
General Fighting Styles: Gratonians don’t have a specific fighting style, as they can follow any and all, considering the planet itself consists of pretty much every race in a mosh pit of chaos that is…..surprisingly well organized. If they don’t know the fighting style, it is most likely because the style itself is from a race they cannot turn into, or from an alternate dimension. More details will be given later.
General Lifestyle: Gratonians live peacefully on their planet, keeping everything safe and livable. They are ecologists mostly, savoring the atmosphere by keeping everything tidy, and making sure that everything is clean and environmentally friendly.
They do not have a currency, meaning everybody can get what they want. However, it will need to be traded for. Their currency is possessions. If you have something you can trade, they will give you what you are asking for. A little of unorthodox, but it does work.
Most people live in at least one of the three major towns of the planet, and tend to avoid the smaller civilizations. Some, however, do tend to live in the wooded areas.
After a Gratonian is born, they go through a series of tests to make sure they are suitable to live on another planet. Those who aren’t suitable are assisted to make sure they can be suited to a planet.
They go through a life of hardships and training, taking tests, and focusing on which planet they want to watch over. They learn some of the languages of that planet, and customs of the people there until everything is set in stone.
From there, at the age of 14 (Gratonian Years are longer than Earthen Years. This will be described later under the information on the planet itself.) they go through a ritual, reciting their vow in at least one language of the planet to anyone in the government. Once their vow goes through, and they turn 15, they are sent to the planet they studied up on.
For that one year, not only does the ritual take place, but the Gratonian goes through a period of changing where they do not have a single form that they are reduced to, as the shape-shifting takes up the user’s ki. They can then define themselves to figure out what form they would be best as. Males can then become females, change anything about their appearance, and then when they turn 15, they are stuck with a base form of what they were when their birthday rolled around. From there, they head off to the planet they have become the guardians of.
Once they are certain the planet is suitable enough for comfortable living for the inhabitants, they go back to Gratonasia, and choose between living life naturally, or choosing another planet and going through the process again.
Since they do not age after they fully hit adult-hood, the Gratonians do not change in appearance.
General Max Age: Gratonians do not die of old age. Their death requirements are unique as well. (See the section on Death.)
Age Category Sorting:
Transformations: While Gratonians have no real transformations of their own that add to power, they do have access to transformation sets based on races. If a Gratonian has the requirements for a transformation, they have access to it, however, they will only gain power boosts if certain requirements are met.
After becoming an adult, the Gratonians have a choice to make. That choice is made by transforming. If the Gratonian transforms into a certain races transformation form, they get full boost from that transformation, but they will not be able to get any power from other transformations until ten years have passed.
As soon as they hit any age that ends in a 5 other than the age 5, they get to change their transformation set. They do not have to choose right away, although that choice is made automatically when they transform, and they are stuck with the transformations of the race they turned into. This does not count for races they cannot turn into, such as Azekarans. Another thing of note is they cannot take transformations that are permanent, such as demonic transformations.
Death: Every Gratonian is unique along the lines of Death, such as complete body annihilation, loss of heart and lungs, etc.. Each one has a unique requirement as to what is needed for death. Anything else, they can regenerate from. It takes a little time depending on the size of the wound. A paper cut is almost instantaneous while a lost limb can take anywhere from thirty to thirty five minutes if there is no other wounds. If they take significant damage, their regeneration ability is cancelled out, and they have to use standard methods, such as being healed by someone with healing abilities or a Senzu bean.
Gratonians, like most races, need an air supply to live. This means they cannot breathe in space, even though they transform into a race that can, such as Changelings. That being said, once they last for a long enough time without air, they will die of suffocation. This includes drowning, being locked in some place with a limited air supply, and being in the vacuum of space.
Soul Weapon: Gratonians have the ability to summon a tool anywhere, and anytime. For a long while, they only summoned tools, such as hammers, screwdrivers, saws, etc., but just before the first war they figured out that their ‘Tools’ can be classified as ‘Tools of War’, and they could summon their Soul Tool as a weapon of choice, such as a sword, axe, bow, or any other thing classified as a weapon. (This includes guns, thus they get infinite ammo, and no real reason to reload.) Soul weapons deal significant damage to Gratonians. Even if a Gratonian hasn’t met their death requirement, they cannot heal from even a scratch created by a Soul ‘Weapon’ as they were eventually dubbed.
So basically, if you cut off a Gratonian’s head with a Soul Weapon, they die. Basically Soul Weapons are to Gratonians as Normal Weapons are to Humans.
They do have unique effects, as well. While Saiyans cannot change their hair style, if their hair is cut by a Gratonian Soul Weapon, the hair stays in the fashion it was made into.
Off-Breeds:
Half Gratonians: While Most Gratonians choose their transformation set list every ten years, Half Gratonians get full access to the transformations of the race their other half is.
Half Gratonian/Half Saiyans get full access to all Saiyan Transformations, and the full boost from them. However, they sacrifice their shape-shifting ability. Instead they get an ability from the Saiyan race.
When a Half-Gratonian uses a Gratonian Band(ring) to obtain the ability to shape-shift, they can only change once for roughly a half hour, and eventually they will change back. They cannot remain in the form they choose for more than that. There is a cool-down time after they revert, and they cannot use the power of the ring for another 15 minutes. They get full access to the racial shape-shifting abilities from the ring.
Rare-Breeds: When a Gratonian child is created, two races are selected at random from the millions of races, both discovered, and undiscovered, minus the Gratonian Race. If the two races are the same, the child is that race. If they aren’t, the child is Gratonian. It is not up to the parents. Instead, the chromosomes from the parents are imbedded with one at random. The child itself does not get any of their Gratonian abilities. They are stuck with the racial abilities of the race they were born as.
Racial Abilities:
Shape-shifting – Gratonians can change their shape and race at will, and become what they want to be within the limitations of their power. After they transform, their ki drains over time, and they eventually revert to their original form. They can literally change everything, including their race, gender, scent, aura, and voice. Once that is done, they can change back.
Gratonian Genetics – Gratonians cannot die unless certain requirements are met. These requirements are different for each Gratonian. They also can die from severe depression. Their bodies are genetically unstable, and have a single substance that they are weak against, such as gases, liquids, or solids, or even types of substances found in food such as Ginseng and sugar. Foods themselves can even be weaknesses. When exposed to this weakness, they literally deteriorate into a liquid for a little bit. When exposed too much, they will eventually die.
If too much damage is sustained, then they will not be able to regenerate, and things such as blood-loss can become deadly. Gratonians are highly susceptible to diseases of any kind. While they cannot catch these diseases as easy as humans can, common colds can lead to comas, and eventually death.
As an added bonus, they can purge foreign scents from their body at will.
Soul Weapon – Gratonians can summon a weapon from the inner depths of their soul that can take the form of whatever they please. Soul weapons are extremely powerful against Gratonian opponents. They can pull their weapon, even from the grasp of their enemy by dispersing it and re-summoning it in their hand in an instant. The weapon is literally part of the person’s soul, and reflects the user’s strength. If the user is weak from combat, the blade will weaken. If they are strong, it is near unbreakable.
If a soul weapon does end up breaking, the user dies in a slow agonizingly painful manner.
Race Biography: Gratonians have been around since the beginning of time, growing up to be the guardians of planets, to make sure each planet remains possible to sustain life. For years, they lived peacefully among each other, making sure that everything was in balance. Everything was working fine.
However, things never stay perfect. A war broke out. Not just in one specific year, but over time. Dates are difficult to keep proper when the years are different between planets, so there is no specific date when the war officially was declared, but for a long time, the three main cities of the planet waged war with each other. The cause for the war was simply a difference in opinions that was caused by a single man who spoke out against the common traditions of the planet.
The war was so huge that Lune, the first Grand Taijukai was pulled into it. The main reason that Lune got involved was because his best friend, Manta, who was the Gratonian King, was stuck in the middle, attempting to get the cities to stop their quarrel, and find common ground.
The war lasted a span of forty years, and eventually ended on a truce between all three cities. The war was shortly after dubbed ‘The Gratonian War’. For a long time, peace remained, and the Gratonian King, Manta, was passed on between Gratonians, becoming one with their bodies to maintain mystery. It made it harder to kill him if people didn’t know where he was, since there had been multiple assassination attempts.
The Gratonian Empire remained unstable for the longest time, leaving every town with hatred for one another. Eventually a small riot in Burrowspire sparked the second war, which lasted a devastating 73 years.
The Language: Gratonians have their own unique language. They have the same size alphabet as English, but the symbols are different. For sake of translation, the simple way to do it is to simply reverse the spelling of the English word, but keep the words organized in the same manner. For the actual language, you reverse the spelling, and switch out each letter for its official symbol.
For example, I will state two sentences. One in Gratonian, and then in translated form.
Ereht era sretsnom ni ym tesolc.
There are monsters in my closet.
Names are the exception. Names are spelled the same way in Gratonian as they are in other languages.
Either way, the Gratonian language is fairly simple. You just need to know how to spell properly. The words are pronounced as they look, and you roll the r’s.
Home Planet: Gratonasia
Planet Description: Gratonasia is made up of 77% landscape and is roughly twice the size of Jupiter. It also has gravity that is exactly 1.5x that of Earthen Gravity, so everything there is a little heavier than it is on Earth. The landscape is that of what you normally see in drawings and paintings. There are three main towns. From largest to smallest, they are Dalminisca, Ametryville, and Burrowspire. There are smaller groups of people who call themselves a citizenship, but they stand nowhere near the sheer size of these three main towns.
The landscape is mostly green, leaving a little bit for water, and a little bit for livable space. The planet is very healthy, and there is no such thing as pollution, since everybody has found a way to recycle everything.
Time: Gratonian years are longer than earthen years, but they roughly follow the same time scheme of seconds/minutes/hours. There are a total of 37 hours in a day on Gratonasia, 26 hours of which are classified as day. There are 492 days in a year, and there are no Leap Year, or different Seasons, as the planet has two suns, and maintains a constant spring/summer atmosphere. Snow is scarce.
Gratonian Items:
Gratonian Armor – Gratonian Armor is a unique set of armor that molds to the body. Physical attacks and Soul Weapons are nothing to a person wearing Gratonian Armor. While in a stand-by state, the armor takes the form of a small orb roughly the size of a golf-ball. It is small and silver, and the way it becomes active is when you give it a squeeze. It will then mold to your body, and become a part of you. Your brain will recognize it as a second set of skin. To take it off, you manipulate it with your mind, as it is recognized as part of you. It will then become an orb again, and float for a moment before resting in your hand, or on the ground if you don’t feel like lifting your arm.
While strong against physical attacks, and Soul Weapons, the Gratonian armor has a huge weakness to ki. Ki connecting with the body from an external source will cause the armor to slowly deteriorate from the point it was hit until nothing remains on the user’s body. From there, it reforms as an orb, and is unusable for at least a week.
If part of the armor deteriorates, the user can take five minutes, and pour a steady amount of ki into the armor to regenerate the portion of the armor that has all but disappeared.
Gratonian Armor, while being worn, gives the wearer their own personal environment within the armor, allowing them to walk on hot surfaces, or cold surfaces, and feel as though they were in weather that they consider comfortable. To external sources, the armor feels as it should, hot in hot places, and cold in cold. If temperatures are too hot, or too cold, it will effect the personal temperature of the wearer.
Gratonian Band – While more of a ring than an actual band, the small device can give the user the ability to change their appearance at will. They cannot change the minor details, such as scent, aura, and voice, but it should be useful enough to at least fool people who aren’t paying attention at all.
Gratonian Clothing – Gratonian Clothing is unique in the way that when you wear it, it molds to your body, and changes in appearance depending on your personal tastes. It reads your aura like a book, and molds itself for your pleasure. When you change your aura, your Gratonian Clothing changes in appearance.
When not worn, they look like a plain white T-shirt, and plain white shorts, but when you put them on, they change in appearance. They do not regenerate in any way shape or form, but when combined with a rare plant from the planet of Fenrir (One that when used in clothing, causes it to regenerate when damaged), you have clothing that you can wear all the time.
That’s all there is to the Gratonian race. It could be shorter, but I decided to give every detail to make it known what the Gratonians really are.
As a final note, I would like to know when someone wants to use a Gratonian. They do not need permission, I just want to see them used properly.
