The two red-haired Saiyans stepped apart, coming away from a recent flurry of blows. Breathing ragged on both ends, the two locked eyes. There was anger in both, but Raisu saw something else in those eyes. Was it respect? Perhaps. Raisu had to admit that he himself had some small respect for his foe, despite his intentions. Perhaps it was only natural among those who would call themselves warriors. It was as if they understood each other on some animalistic level. But there could only be one victor. And no chance existed for a peaceful resolution. The longer this went on, the more danger folks would be in. This fight would approaching it's climax.
The Saiyan dropped low and held one arm in front of him. Yellow energy began to gather in the palm of his hand and felt a sort of pressure rising. So it was time for the big guns. Raisu had been in a few situations like this before. Some ended well, others didn't. But at least he'd survived. And he wouldn't go down so easily here. He had his own answer to such an attack, one that could hopefully turn the tides: his Starlight Beam. He'd come to lean on this attack. It had more power than basic ki blasts, and it was almost something of his battle signature.
Raisu threw his arm up, the bringing the other to his elbow the brace it. White light began to gather in his palm, crackling as it compacted and swirled, waiting to burst. The energy between the two sparked, and the pressure on Raisu's mind grew. Between the two of them, they were outputting a lot of ki. Funny, really. This is what Raisu had set out to avoid when he came to South Capitol. But then again, plans often go out the window in the moment, and one is left trying to salvage whatever is left of it. And here Raisu was, abandoning the plan altogether, tossing it to the wind. As if to say, 'well, I don't need this anymore'.
Time froze for a moment, as white light danced with red. But only for a moment, because soon the two beams cracked from their creators, and sped towards each other. The two clashed, pushing at one another, trying to force the other to give way. Raisu could feel it in his body: the Saiyan wouldn't be a pushover.
Why didn't I take off my weights, thought Raisu. Had it been over-confidence? Arrogance even? Here he was, practically playing when there were lives at stake. But it was far too late now: the beams were burning at one another, and only one could win.

The two warriors fists clashed, creating a minuscule shock wave which rumbled the sector in which they were in. Both of their knuckles nearly broke from the massive impact. Both fighters had reached their limits. That was their final attack, and they both knew it. There was nothing more either could do but wait. Wait for their adversary to fall. Their pride reached the Heavens above. One was fighting for good, and the other was fighting for evil, each deathly loyal to their respective sides. Their bones were broken, their bodies were shot. Blood stained their faces, dripping down to their biceps. They gazed into eachother’s glassy eyes. Neither of them wanted to lose. They both had another thing in common; If they lost, they wouldn’t be able to forgive themselves. Losing to a barbaric monkey, or losing to a mere human. Both options were absolutely humiliating in their own minds.
Chaz’s aura began to die down, powering down to his normal state once again. Thick, crimson liquid trickled down their knuckles, gathering in a pool below their fists. The pride was strong. They both had individuals that would find their beaten bodies and help them out of the city. In Chaz’s case, it was two if that red-haired guy survived. It would cripple Escaro’s ego if he had to be carried out by his superior partner. Chaz, on the other hand, was no stranger to that. Ibby would always carry him away from battles, whether he won or lost.
It was almost completely silent. The only sound that filled their small ‘dome’ was that of the blood dripping to the floor. Teeth baring and gritting, they were reluctant to fall. Escaro’s left eye twitched, and his body slowly fell back to the concrete, his eyes rolling back in his head. He was out cold. A smile crept upon the blond human’s lips as he too fell back to the demolished mess of a street below. He couldn’t move a muscle. His entire body stung and burned as if he was thrown into a giant fire pit. Chaz honestly felt as if he was about to die. It was the most excruciating pain he had ever felt in his life. But, behind all of the pain, he felt a sense of accomplishment. He was happy. This was his first real battle to the death, and he won. He didn’t have to return to ANYONE and say “I couldn’t get the job done. I couldn’t win.” The first time he actually ever felt like he was of some use to anyone.
“IIIIIIIBBBBYYYYY! I DID IT!”
The small red feline emerged from behind a blanket of rubble, one that he had used to protect himself. His body was littered in scratches and bruises like his brother, but he was able to walk. He sat down beside Chaz’s battered body, placing his paw softly on Chaz’s arm. He smiled down towards his brother. “You did it, Chaz-kun! You did it!”

And all the while, the two crimson haired Saiyans still pushed at each other across the bounds of scorched concrete and broken metal and glass. The acrid smell of destruction burned at Raisu's nose, not unlike the heat that pressed against his face from his own blast. There were no screams or shouts from either side, just deadly silence as the two Saiyans danced their final number. And it seemed as if Raisu was actually losing it. Slowly, it began to slide. Only a few cenimeters at first, barely percievable by the naked eye. But he could feel it. Oh, it sent entrire shockwaves through his body, the first time his beam began to buckle from the other Saiyan's. How? Why? It was the weights. How could he have been so stupid? His hubris would cost him everything.
The other Saiyan's beam drew ever closer. Raisu's arms began to tremble, not unlike jello during an earthquake. Had he lost it completely? The killing blow came closer and closer, until the bright yellow light had nearly overwhelmed the white. Dammit, he thought, I'm so stupid. He didn't want to go like this! He wouldn't! A fire lit within him and he felt what might have been a second wind. He still had a lot to live for. And he wouldn't throw it away here! Whatever he had left, it was time to put it on the table. Reaching into whatever inner fire had lit in him, he pushed back. And slowly, the tides began to turn. Almost nothing at first, but it grew and grew until they were back where they started. And it grew beyond that, it was as if Raisu was pushing back from the ledge of defeat. And then somethign broke in the other Saiyan. Yellow gave way to white, and the hybrid's beam swallowed his foe whole.
Smoke billowed from the point of impact, and Raisu felt a rush of hot air strike his face. And no further attacks came from the other Saiyan. But still he lived. Raisu could feel that. There was the tiniest spark of life left. So weak, he could reach out and snuff it. Raisu smirked and stepped towards the Saiyan. As the smoke cleared, it was plain: he laid there defeated, broken in a pile of rubble. He did not move as Raisu stepped over him. He did not move as Raisu dropped to one knee. He did not move as Raisu looked him in the eye, a hardness in his stare. But he did move as Raisu pulled him. Raisu brought him close and began to whisper in his ear.
"Go on, get out of here. But don't you ever come back."
No, Raisu wouldn't kill him. He couldn't. It was what set them apart. And he had to hold onto that little piece of difference and squeeze it for all it was worth.
He left the Saiyan there, unsure if he'd truly leave or not. But not that it mattered. Raisu's one time foe couldn't fight: he was spent. Instead, Raisu's eyes drifted to the blond boy and his catfolk friend. So he'd survived. And made short work of his foe. Not bad, thought Raisu. The guy had potential. Raisu gave the two a hard look; They couldn't be much older than him, if at all. Funny how their days of youth turned out like this.
"So," he said, "You two are okay?"

“Chaz-kun! You beat him!” The duo smiled at eachother. This moment was once in a lifetime. Maybe it could happen in the future, but this was the first. They were able to happily embrace after a hardfought battle, despite Chaz himself not being able to move. Ibby placed his paw in the palm of Chaz’s hand. “We really did do it. I told you..! No one is gonna stop us from getting Ruby’s Salvation!” That goal was so embedded into their minds that it was almost all they thought about. Ruby’s Salvation. A dish said to be so succulent, so delectable, so precious. It’s said to be made of every single possible flavor and food in the world, good and bad, combined into one fantabulous gift. Among chefs and food connoisseurs, it was the ultimate goal. While Chaz and Ibby weren’t any of those two, they loved food. Anyone who loved food wanted to taste it. Chaz and Ibby were determined to be the second in history to ever eat it.
The other guy from earlier had approached them. He hardly looked banged up at all, seemingly dealing with his opponent easily. He asked if they were ok. Chaz gave him a canine-filled grin, while Ibby shook his head up and down. “Even though I can’t move, I’m ok!” The blond tried once more to move, only able to emit a small shriek caused by the immense pain in his body. It felt as if every single nerve in his body was being stabbed with a small pin, even if he sat still. “Chaz-kun, we gotta get you to a hospital, asap.” “No! Get me out of the city, somewhere safe. Then you come back and you help as many people get out of here as you can. That’s what we came here for.. This is our family, Ibby..” Ibby seemed hesitant. He didn’t know what to do. “But Chaz-kun..” “No buts! Gnngh…. Butts are for crap..!”

Raisu shook his head. Funny guys, really they were. But now might not be the time for this. They were still in a war zone, and one never knew what was around the corner. Especially with the energy they'd been giving off. Raisu breathed, in and out, ever so slowly. And then, his focus came to him. Slowly, he could feel his own aura damped, as if he'd draped a sheet over it. No need to attract attention now.
The boy was injured, heavily. But his friend looked fine, which was a pleasant sight. The less injuries the better. Whatever gods there were knew that the casualties were high enough. But still, the sooner they got out the better. Another fight like that, and the weights would have to come off. His own body ached from the fight. The Saiyan had laid into him, like some sort of spaceborn jackhammer. He'd feel that in the morning, or at least as soon as the adrenaline left his body.
"So, guys, glad to see you're alive. But we need to get out. Now."
He motioned down the street, and stepped to blond boy.
"Need help moving?"

Chaz’s eyes laid upon the Saiyan who had previously helped them. He motioned down the street, letting them know that he was glad they were alive, but they had to move. He was right. This place was still a warzone. More Saiyans could pop up around any corner and jump them. They were in no position to fight right now, especially Chaz. Ibby wasn’t good at defending himself. At most, he could throw a very small ki blast, which would do absolutely nothing against these monsters.
“Ibby can get me out of here.. Can you please get any survivors on your way out..? Please.. these people are my family! If I could help them, I would myself… But I can’t move..” Ibby wrapped his little arms around Chaz’s midsection, floating into the air with Chaz in tow. While he was quite the small guy, he had superhuman strength. At least, more than your normal human. Chaz’s teeth clenched tightly. He even bit his lip to the point of almost cutting a piece off. That’s how bad the pain for him was.
“We would really appreciate if you got any survivors you saw out of here. Chaz-kun has a hard time expressing his feelings for anyone. But he was able to bring them out for these people. They mean a lot to him. So please, anyone you can get on your way out, save them. Chaz-kun will do whatever it takes to repay you for this. As for me.. thank you. For keeping this oaf alive. He wouldn’t of been able to take those two on alone.”
With that in mind, Ibby carried Chaz’s now unconscious body out of the city.

Raisu watched them go, and shook his head. What an odd pair. But at least their hearts were in the right place, and that's what counted. A small grin began to form on his face. There were good people still, and he supposed he had just met some. Hopefully they'd be okay now that they were leaving him. Not that he had anyway of knowing if something would or not. Too much chaos, too little time.
But they had asked him to help any survivors. Raisu could do that, for whatever survivors there may be. Raisu cracked his knuckles and winced in pain. Yes, there was definitely a soreness in him. But, so long as he didn't get in any more fights along the way, he'd be fine. With that in mind, Raisu began to walk down a street, far from the bulk of the fighting, looking for any survivors that he might come across. None as of yet, but he'd keep looking. The blond boy had asked him after all, and the blond boy had proven himself today, or at least to Raisu. The least Raisu could do was honor his small wish.
It was a shame to walk among the ruins of South Capitol, among the dead and fallen. It has where he'd grown up himself. Thinking about it, the apartment he'd shared with his mother was only a few blocks over. Could he go to it? See if it was still standing? No, he thought. A small sigh escaped Raisu's lips. That wouldn't be smart. And to press his luck like that... He should be happy his mother had already escaped before the invasion. He'd promised her he'd come home one day. And, in a roundabout way, he'd kept that promise. Raisu Hanamura had come home. If only it were under better circumstances.
(Proper thread exit. Just confirming that I do, in fact, want PL. Heavy weights on. Thank you.)
