Polar awoke as his body was slammed onto the floor by the battle outside. He awoke and pulled himself from the floor. It seemed he allowed himself to sleep in. The barracks was completely empty. It looked as if the soldiers had practically been ripped from their beds.
Is that an earthquake outside?
All of the sudden, there was an explosion that tore the a large chunk of the room from the chamber. For a moment, all Polar could hear was ringing from his ear. The ringing, fortunately, wasn't permanent, as he quickly began to hear what sounded like a firefight; at least out of his left ear. The Arcosian flew through the gaping hole in the ceiling, and looked around.
Fireballs were raining from the sky, unleashing Armageddon upon Kanassa's surface.
The Saiyans are attacking? Now?!
It was much sooner than he expected. Yet, he was ready to fight. That was the only course of action.
Bodies littered the base. No doubt those were the victims of the initial attacks. He sighted several hundreds of tiny figures in the distance, instantly recognizing them as the battle forces. There was no doubt that Taiga was leading the charge.
Before departing off to war, Polar landed onto the ground, taking note of the dead. He sprinted around. Lieutenant Graip was among the fallen. The medical center had collapsed in on itself, meaning that Doctor Peech was likely among the casualties. Even the cyan-colored Brench, Yu Yezi, had perished. Entering the command center, Polar hoped, perhaps optimistNically, to find some of the commanders. However, it was a futile effort. He only saw Captain Nudal--or what was left of him. It made him sick, and perhaps even caused him sorrow to see all of these men slain (even Yu, who he initially distrusted). Closing his eyes solemnly, the Arcosian inhaled and exhaled through his nose., to the point of hyperventilation. His gloom was replaced with fury.
They will not have died in vain.
Polar walked out of the building, and found himself confronting a group of intruders. They were clearly Saiyans, and upon looking at Polar, they laughed menacingly.
"It seems this wasn't a waste of a trip after all, Boss," cried one of them. This one was rather brutish, with a bald held and a long tendril-like Fu Manchu mustache.
"Indeed," the second one added, an average sized man with a buzzcut. "It seems there's one last lackey. And a lizard, no less."
"Hush, you two," barked the leader, a tall man with spiky hair that went down to his neck, "These changelings shouldn't be underestimated. They destroy worlds; kill entire species."
Polar gritted his teeth. He quite infuriated, to say the least. "You should not come here, monkey." The words were cold, with the last word of the sentence being practically spat with hatred. He didn't, however, reduce himself to yelling. He couldn't nor wouldn't allow the Saiyan to take his dignity.
"Boss, you overreact," laughed a fourth member, "This weakling's less than five thousand. We can take him, no problem."
The fourth member member, a rather short man with a long, flowing dark brown mane, led the charge. The bald man followed. This turned out to be a fatal mistake.
"RAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!"
A light blue aura surrounded the Arcosian, followed by an electric shockwave. Growing taller in height and his horns retracting into his head, Polar's head became much more round in shape, with his gem taking prominence. His inherent armor was replaced with a much more smooth-looking biosuit, a natural alternative to the artificial battle armor.
The short Saiyan knew his fate was sealed as soon as his fist collided with the Arcosian's chest. He gasped, looking up slowly at the newly transformed Arcosian, in pure awe at how ineffective his attack was. As he gazed up at Polar, his scouter malfunctioned as the power skyrocketed. Like a domino effect, the others's scouters were destroyed as well.
Polar merely sent his fist into the Saiyan's gut, and finished him with a Ki blast. The Saiyan's corpse landed in front of his leader, who simply shook his head into his palm, as if he warned the man. The bald man ran in retreated, fearful of the Arcosian's newfound powers, but was easily dispatched with a Death Beam. The remaining soldier, the buzzcut Saiyan, didn't even have time to run. A simple Eye Laser was enough to, quite literally, melt the warrior's face.
The leader glanced around at his men, and then back to Polar. They exchanged stern looks and stares, before the Saiyan commander displayed a sinister grin.
"Are you proud of this?" the commander asked, though got no response. "You murdered low-level warriors. These men were barely ten percent your own power."
The man's hand began to charge with Ki.
"Now you face a real warrior: a Saiyan elite."
The Saiyan charged the Arcosian, and the two of them engaged in a melee duel. For the moment, it seemed like they were evenly matched, with neither of them really gaining an upper hand. However, Polar managed to strike the Saiyan's nose, and then swooped his legs out from under him with his tail.
Rubbing his nose, the Saiyan chuckled coldly. "You're good, snake. A shame you got to die. If only you joined the right side."
The Saiyan leader sent a Ki blast, which Polar doesn't, though slid through the dirt. It seemed the blast itself wasn't intended to be lethal, but instead to allow the Saiyan a breather in the fight. He stood up and dusted himself off.
"Enough of the games," the leader said, shedding his armor. It seemed that the Saiyan gained a dramatic increase of power by this (possibly due to wearing weighted clothing), as he moved as a blue through the air, giving Polar a swift uppercut. Before he could retaliate the intruder smacked him across the face, slamming him into the dirt. Desperately, Polar bolted into the air, to a safe distance, and fired a Death Beam at the malcontent. The Saiyan easily deflected this, and firing one last Ki-blast, sending the weakened Arcosian to his presumed death.
In reality, Polar survived the fall, but took a devastating blast to his torso, just past the heart, which was, fortunately, a concentrated blast and thus didn't effect a wide area. And more luckily, the Saiyan didn't come to make sure of his work was a success, seeming satisfied by the sight of the Arcosian falling. However, Polar was weak, and wouldn't be able to hold out much longer. His PL was dropping fast, and he was bleeding out.
So this is how the Arcosian race dies, Polar mused as the loss of blood caused him to drift into unconsciousness.

(Heavy Weights On) Yuki had gone out with a small group of soldiers early in the morning. Yuki had told Yu she would be back later. She had asked if he wanted to go that morning but he had said he was needed on base in case something happened. Yuki never liked separating from her brother but she knew they wouldn’t be gone for long. The day before a male soldier had approached Yuki. He too was a brenchian and he had asked her if she would help train with some of them. They had found out that Yuki had taught physical combat on Planet Android. Yuki decided it wouldn’t be too much trouble to help train a few fellow soldiers. (The Night Before) Yuki had just finished her shower. She dried herself off and got dress into her pajamas. She then headed to the barracks. Yu wasn’t in there, Yuki figured he went to go grab some dinner in the dining hall. Yuki left her hair done so it could dry. She had already eaten before she took a shower. Yuki lay back on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. Yu then walked into the barrack. He greeted his sister. “Hey Yuki, I brought back some brownies. I figured you’d want one too,” Yu said as he placed it on the table near her bed. Yuki sat up in bed and smiled. I love brownies, I’m surprised I didn’t see these in the dining hall Yuki thought. She grabbed the brownie and started to eat it. “Thanks, where did you find these? I didn’t know they had them,” Yuki asked and took another bite from the delicious warm brownie. Yu gave Yuki a smile. “I asked the chef myself if he could make me a batch earlier. So he did,” Yu said as he revealed the container he had. Inside the container were 6 more brownies. “Hey! You ate half of them!” Yuki exclaimed as she tried to grab the container from Yu. Yu then held the container above his head out of Yuki’s reach since she was a little bit shorter then him. “Yu give me the rest, you had most of them,” Yuki plead as she tried to get the brownies. Yu then lowered his hand with the container in it. “Alright, here you can have the rest you big baby,” Yu said in a joking way. Yuki grabbed the container and gave a big smile and brought the container back to her side of the room. She placed it on the table. Yuki looked over at her brother. He had a sad face on. She sighed, “Yu, you can have one or two more brownies but don’t eat ALL of them.” She said as she was defeated by her brother’s secret weapon. She could never win a battle with her brother using his sad face. The two talked for a little longer before they both got in their own beds and ready to go to sleep. The barrack became dark from the lights being turned off. Yuki lay in her bed and stared at the wall. “Hey Yu,” she called seeing if her brother was still awake. He gave a small grunt. “What Yuki? I’m trying to sleep,” He replied. Yuki turned over on her side. “Thanks for always being there for me. I know I can always count on you,” Yuki said as she gave a small smile. She heard her brother sigh. “You’re my twin sister, Yuki. I’ll always be there for you. Together the two of us are unstoppable. Good Night sis,” Yu said. Yuki could hear Yu turned over onto his side. Within a few minutes she could hear a low snore coming from his bed. He’s always been a fast sleeper Yuki thought. She then closed her eyes and said, “Good Night Yu.” Yuki then fell asleep. (Back to Present) She took out a group of four soldiers bright and early. They flew pretty far from the base to a high mountain. As the sun had come up Yuki had a bad feeling come to her but she brushed it off. She had the four soldiers work on their combat skills. She watched over them as they practiced fight and did certain moves. Yuki was teaching them how to attack their opponent and then how to block when being attacked. Yuki suddenly sensed a strong power level enter the atmosphere. Who could that be? Yuki thought. She looked in the direction she guessed the person had landed but it was pretty far. It seemed to be located near the base. Yu? Yuki thought as her eyes grew big. “What’s wrong?” the soldier named Aki asked. She was about seventeen with white hair. She had her hair tied up into a bun and was wearing the Arcosian armor. Yuki looked over at her. I have to stay calm for them Yuki told herself. If anything was wrong, Yu would have come got me Yuki continued to think. Within a few minutes, Yuki noticed smoke entering the sky above the forest where the base was located. That’s not good Yuki thought as she felt her heart beat start to pick up. “Alright everyone, we’re under attack. Let’s head back to the base and see if we can help. Everyone I want you to hide your power level so we won’t be detected,” Yuki said as she got everyone ready to head back to the base. Why didn’t anyone call us back? There probably wasn’t enough time Yuki thought. The four of them including Yuki made their way back to the base. As they got closer Yuki held her hand up telling the four soldiers to wait for her signal. Yuki gasped as she looked through the trees and noticed the base had been destroyed. She could sense no life left in the building or near the barracks. Yuki then sensed a power level dropping. She ran through the trees as fast as she could the four soldiers followed behind her. Yuki stopped as she saw Polar on the ground with a severe wound in his chest. He was bleeding out. “Polar, can you hear me?” Yuki asked as she kneeled down next to him. Yuki then looked behind her and saw the four soldiers had nervous expressions on. Aki then stepped up and knelt down next to Polar too. “I was trained in first aid, I can patch him up but I need a first aid kit,” Aki said. “One of you, go find a first aid kit fast!” She then ordered one of the soldiers. Yuki got up and followed him. Yuki helped looked through the broken building parts of what used to be the aid building. She quickly was able to find a good first aid kit and ran it back over to Aki. She said thank you and then started to work on patching Polar up. “Don’t worry, Polar. Once you’re patched up, I’ll get you out of here,” Yuki said as she knelt down again and gave Polar’s hand a squeeze for support. “Alright, you two go search for any more survivors,” Yuki ordered the other two soldiers that she had been training. “We’ll need to get him out of here as soon as we’re able to move him,” Yuki told Aki. Aki nodded her head. Yuki then gasped as she recognized a general walking over to them. “General Paul, what happened here?” Yuki asked as she stood up. “Ambushed, attacked by a powerful Android but he looked to be a part of the Saiyan Empire. There is another too. He’s also a powerful saiyan,” the general said as he looked down at his feet. He looked defeated. “Where’s Taiga and Yu?” Yuki asked as she tried to keep her voice calm. The general kept his eyes on the ground. “Taiga is fighting them as we speak. He wants everyone to evacuate while they still can. We stand no chance with most of our men down.” The general responded. Yuki clenched her fist. “Where is Yu?” She asked. The general didn’t answer. Yuki grabbed onto the front of his armor making the general look at her. “Where is YU?!” She yelled. The general eyes were sad. “He’s…gone, Yuki” the general whispered. “The android attacked him first and the other saiyan…finished him off…” the general stuttered. Yuki’s hands dropped from the general’s armor. Her entire body started to shake. She shook her head trying not to believe what he had just told her. “No. your lying…Yu can’t be…” Yuki tried to say. That’s why I can’t sense his ki Yuki thought. Yuki dropped to her knees. Not being able to keep her self standing. She felt as if her own heart had been pierced with a sword. Yuki could hear her heart beating loudly. Her hearing seemed to get fuzzy as everything seemed to slow down. She started to see spots. She let her head fall to the ground as tears started to run down her face. “No…No…No…” Yuki started to repeat. She then gave out a loud yell releasing all the pain she felt inside her. The general dropped down and covered her mouth so that their position wouldn’t be given away. Yuki felt her entire body go numb. I was supposed to watch over him. I made a promise. I’m so sorry Yu. I let you down. I let father down Yuki thought. Then everything started to go black. How can I go on without you my twin brother? Yuki’s last thought was before the darkness took her away. WC: 1,596

OOC: Sorry to intrude on your topic, but we didn't actually bring an army with us, it's just me and Icarus fighting... :/
But, Polar since your post rely on having troops here, we can say we brought ONE squad.

In the hours that past, Polar drifted in and out of consciousness, seeming able to pass away at any moment, despite Aki's efforts. And in between these episodes, he was able to catch brief glimpses of the environment around him. It was almost dream-like.
Hopefully, this bitter nightmare will be over, he thought optimistically, before he drifted off again. But that was exactly what it was: optimism, at best. This was a bitter reality, and Polar knew it.
Finally, after many attempts, the girl managed to resuscitate the Arcosian, who was, albeit, at a fraction of his normal health and strength. It would take a healing tank to permanently repair the damage the Saiyan had done. If they survive.
Polar stood from the formation of blankets and pillows that made up the impromptu med center, and approached the congregation of commanders. It seemed that these were the last of Taiga's forces, assembling in the remains of the main base. They were planning for a last stand.
"Captain Lime," a soldier addressed, saluting the green-colored commander. "Our scouters have sighted a reading of a one-hundred thousand power level in the far West, the same direction Captain Pahsta's squad disappeared.
"Likely that Saiyan, Sallot," Lime responded thoughtfully, "If . The rest of you, begin to search for survivors and begin counting the fallen."
"We have an opportunity to hit that damn Android with everything we got while we have the element of surprise, and you're suggesting we wait?" Paul seemed quite annoyed by the prospect.
"We already attempted that before, General Paul, during the initial assault and we lost two thirds of our forces. I'd rather make the Saiyan come to us, and pick them off one-by-one."
Paul backed down, despite being the man in charge, indicating that the man held the green man in high-respect, and valued his opinion.
Polar held onto the area which was still hurting quite a bit, even with all the healing and bandaging Aki could do. He looked down at the other injured that surrounded him. It seemed that the medical services were reserved for the most injured, seeing as how desperate things were. There were soldiers with their legs blown off, burnt alive, and massive holes in their chest. The only person who didn't seem to be so horrifically injured was the familiar face that was Yuki.
For a moment, it made him smile a bit. He didn't feel quite alone. Yet, the smile quickly faded as he swelled with sorrow for the woman, and his mind reminded him of the memory of Yu's corpse.
Fortunately, Captain Lime approached the man, distracting him from Yu and Yuki for the moment.
"Polar," the soldier addressed, "Glad to see you're well."
"What's the situation?"
For a moment, the green man hesitated. "It doesn't look good. The general has been adamant we stay and fight, but I feel even he is pondering the idea to retreat."
"We cannot abandon Taiga," protested the Arcosian, "Where ever we go, the Saiyans will simply follow. We have to stay and fight, or we'll never be free."
Polar was most stubborn in this regard. Between his stern loyalty and anger toward the Saiyans, he knew he couldn't just leave Taiga to die. All these deaths could not be in vain.

(Flash Back) Yuki was twenty at the time. Her brother was going off to work for the Galactic Patrolmen. Yuki was staying on their home planet and doing missions for the Arcoisan Empire. She didn’t know when Yu would be back and it made her nervous. Yuki knew she couldn’t always be by her brother’s side especially now since they were older but it was always nice to be able to work with him. Yuki would feel a sense of home when her brother was around. She woke up early that morning of his departure. She quickly got ready and made a batch of brownies just for Yu. She flew off to go meet him at the flight station. He better not have left without saying goodbye Yuki thought. Yuki soon reached the departure area. She looked around but couldn’t see Yu anywhere. She headed to the main desk inside the building. “Excuse me, could you tell me if Yu Yezi left already?” Yuki asked trying to keep herself calm. The Arcosian quickly typed into her computer. “Nope, it says he will be leaving in a few minutes. Apparently he was running late, as usual,” the receptionist said as she gave a small grunt. Yuki smiled at her response. “Thank-you,” Yuki replied and exited the building. In the distance she saw her brother waiting by his space pod. His arms were crossed over his chest as if he were waiting. Yuki ran over to him. “I was starting to think you left before saying goodbye to your twin sister,” Yuki said as she reached her brother. “Well I figured you’d make me a ‘go away present’ like you always do,” Yu said as he gave a smile. Yuki chuckled as she handed her brother the container filled with brownies. “It’s for a good luck,” Yuki said. She then frowned knowing this could be the last time she would see her brother for a while. “Yu, be careful out there,” Yuki said. She gave her brother a hug. “Promise, we’ll see each other again soon,” Yuki said as they hugged. She felt a small tear escape her right eye and fall down her cheek. Yu let go of Yuki in the hug and looked her in the eyes. “I promise. One day you and I will rule the universe sis,” Yu said in a joking way trying to cheer his sister up. “Take care,” Yu then said as he got into his space pod. Yuki watched as he took off towards his next destination. Stay safe Yuki thought as she went on with her life.
(End of Flash Back)
Yuki awoke from the darkness. She noticed herself on a mat in the forest. A blanket covered her body. Yuki then realized what had happened. She slowly picked herself up from the ground. I just can’t believe he’s gone… Yuki thought. She then heard a faint voice in her head. “Yuki, you can’t dwell on your brother’s death. You need to get off this planet as soon as possible. Your brother died fighting to protect the Arcosain Empire and he died fighting for you as well. Don’t let his death be a waste. Just keep it together till you get Polar and yourself safely off Planet Kanassa,” Hyo said in the back of Yuki’s head. Yuki nodded as she clenched her fist. Okay Uncle, I’ll keep it together till I get us somewhere safe Yuki thought. Yuki saw that Polar was up. She approached him. “I’m glad to see your up and walking. It’ll probably take time for your wounds to heal completely. I’m just glad we found you when we did,” Yuki said as she stood next to Polar. From the distance, Yuki could sense a saiyan nearby. He seemed alone but his power level was pretty high. Yuki walked away from everyone else to find this spy. She soon came face to face with the saiyan elite. He smirked at Yuki as came into his view. “Why are you spying?” Yuki asked as she clenched her fist and got ready to fight. “I was hoping that snake would have died already but then you and your team saved him. I guess I’ll just have to kill you first before killing the rest of them,” the saiyan elite said. “You’re the one who hurt Polar?” Yuki said as she felt all her anger come back. The anger she felt for the loss of her brother started to also stir through her veins. The saiyan just chuckled at Yuki’s posture. “You’ll regret coming to this planet,” Yuki said as the saiyan than charged at Yuki at full force. He threw a right punch towards her face but Yuki blocked the saiyan. He then disappeared and punched Yuki in the back from behind. She gasped and jumped forward a few feet. She then turned around to face her attacker but he had already moved from his position. He quickly appeared in front of her and punched Yuki in the stomach this time. Yuki dropped down on one knee. He’s fast it’s time for this fight to really start Yuki thought as she stood up. The saiyan had a smirk on his face. “This fight is too easy,” he said. Yuki smiled back as she removed her heavy weights and went into her times two form. The saiyan's smile then disappeared from his face. “You were saying? Let’s say we go another round. The winner gets to live,” Yuki said as she felt her anger start to take over. She could feel a new evil come to her most likely the revenge she was ready to start for the death of her brother. The saiyan brushed off his surprised look and got ready for round two of the fight to begin. WC:995

(Sorry Polar. Was ready to leave the planet. Make sure you leave soon) In the distance, Yuki could see Taiga fighting the two intruders that invaded the planet. Yuki can only watch as Taiga is spun around by his tail. She noticed he had a wound in his chest. No the fight most almost be over... Yuki thought. She went to take a step forward but heard the Saiyan in front of her chuckle. “You have to get through me first,” he said. Yuki continued to watch Taiga. She watched as his body was flung and crashes through the building. Shortly after, the building collapses onto him. Yuki clenches her fist, wishing she could have helped but knows she wouldn’t stand a chance with her power level against those two. She places her focus back on the saiyan standing in front of her. Yuki was about to attack the Saiyan when she say a chain whip out right passed her right side. The chain wrapped around the elite saiyan. Yuki gasped as she looked back and noticed her Aunt Kishi was a few feet behind her. How did she get here? Yuki thought. Yuki wasn’t paying attention and the next thing she remembers is her name being yelled out. Yuki is blasted off her feet and flies back into the nearest tree trunk. Yuki’s vision becomes blurry as she sees her Aunt kill the saiyan that had blasted her back. When Yuki had looked back at her Aunt just moments before, he used his free arm to throw a ki blast directly at Yuki's feet. She starts seeing dots. She hears her name being called over and over. “Yuki?!” Aunt Kishi screams at her as she shakes Yuki by the shoulders. Yuki slowly blinks as her visons goes back to normal. “How am I in one piece?” Yuki asks as she looks done realizing her legs were still attached. That blast should have injured me Yuki thought. “I saw it coming and used my other chain to throw you back but the blast waves still threw you harder than I expected. Where’s Yu? We have to get off this planet now. Why would you two come here, there’s a war..” Kishi was saying and then stopped as she noticed Yuki’s face expression change. Yuki suddenly remembered all the pain and hurt as she heard Yu’s name. She still couldn’t believe he was gone. Tears started to roll down her face as she tried to keep herself together in front of her Aunt. “He’s…He’s…” Yuki tried to speak but the word wouldn't come out. Aunt Kishi grabbed Yuki into a hug. She held onto her tight. “I need to get you off of this planet. I refuse to loose both of you,” Kishi said as she let go of Yuki and stood up. Yuki tried to stand but yelled out in pain. Both of her ankles were sprained. “Just leave me, take my ship and get out of here,” Yuki said in a low voice as she laid back against the tree. I failed anyway Yuki thought. Kishi gave Yuki a stern look. “That’s not the Yuki I know. Yu would not want to hear you give up and he sure as hell wouldn’t want to see you in the other world. Now I’m getting you out of here whether you like it or not,” Kishi said as she picked Yuki up from the ground. “What about everyone else left?” Yuki asked. She felt the back of her head starting to hurt from the impact. “I counted there are enough ships for everyone. Before I came over here, I told the rest of them it was time to leave. I’m afraid this planet might be blown up soon,” Kishi said as her voice got lower. Yuki touched the back of her head and when she brought her hand back she noticed blood. Kishi noticed it. “Once, I get you on the ship I’ll patch you up,” she said as she carried Yuki to Yu and Yuki’s ship. Yuki looked off into the distance. Her vision seemed to become blurry again. For a second, she thought she saw Yu standing by the tree but quickly realized it was her mind playing tricks with her. She closed her eyes not wanting to be taunted. They reached the ship pretty quickly. Aunt Kishi laid Yuki down on the floor in the ship. She went to the controls of the ship and had the ship set to fly to Earth. As the ship took off, she got the first aid kit and patched up the back of Yuki’s head. Once Yuki was all patched up, Kishi carried Yuki to her bed. “How did you know…Yu and I were on Kanasaa?” Yuki asked as she looked over at her Aunt. “I have my ways Yuki. I’m just glad I found you when I did. Now get some rest,” Kishi said as she left the room and went to make sure the ship stayed on course. Well I’m going back to Earth Yuki thought. She turned over on her side. Her whole body seemed to ache. For the first time, I don’t have a plan. I don’t have a mission, I just feel lost Yuki thought. She then closed her eyes and hoped not to have any nightmares. I hope your okay Yu…wherever you are now Yuki’s last thought was before falling asleep. -Exit-(Yuki leaves Planet Kanassa) WC: 893 Total Word Count: 3,484

"My lord, I strongly-"
"Enough, General," Polar ended, firmly.
The general seemed to sense the adamant nature Polar held, merely nodding in defeat. He turned and left the Arcosian, who turned his head to the direction of Yuki's blanket. However, it seemed the Brenchian drifted off, as he sleeping bag was empty. Just a few yards over, he saw the cyan girl sluggishly levitating about, before zooming out into the forest. Polar attempted to follow, but noted a sharp pain in his chest as he attempted to summon the power to levitate.
Sighing, the Arcosian turned away for a moment. However, an explosion from the area forced him to return his attention to that direction. Flashes of blue and magenta light could be seen within the trees. However, before he could intervene, a similar, yet louder and closer explosion occurred in the opposite direction—toward the base camp.
Polar turned to the direction of the camp, but was forced to cover his eyes as a cloud of debris surrounded the area. He pushed himself forward, and in the dust, he could faintly see a group of soldiers congregated around an energy shield held up by Captain Lime. As the smoke began to clear, the Captain fell onto his knees, visible weary from the defense.
“THE GENERAL’S DOWN!” cried a panicked grunt, “THE GENERAL’S DOWN!”
Polar looked and saw the blue-haired man sitting there, with blood running down his lip. Many of the remaining soldiers were killed in this assault, leaving Captain Lime and a few grunts left.
The Arcosian ran to Lime.
“Are you alright?” inquired Polar.
There was no response, but panting.
“Captain?”
“Taiga…Taiga is dead.”
What?
“He’s…”
“Dead. I heard his scouter go blank.”
Polar closed his eyes solemnly.
If Taiga is dead, all is truly lost, he quietly thought.
Polar glanced up at the culprit of the bombardment; another elite Saiyan, not unlike the other he faced.
“Well…I guess while Sallot deals with the girl,” chuckled the attacker, obviously referring to the Saiyan that Yuki was likely facing off with, “I get the Changelings.” He glanced at the green Lime. “Two Changelings.”
The three of them duked it out, with Lime charging first. He attempted to smack the Saiyan, though it seemed the elite managed to block the move and counterattack with a swift chop that chipped Lime’s armor. Mustering his own power, Polar sent a Death Beam toward the Saiyan, who easily blocked deflected it. The cocky elite then charged the injured Arcosian, seeing the opportunity to wipe out the last lizard, but was stopped as Lime kicked the Saiyan’s spine and knocked him to the ground. Yet, it didn’t seem to even nettle the ape.
The warrior retaliated the Zarbonite’s attack with a Ki-blast, which the latter managed to deflect. It was followed up with an uppercut that disoriented the weary alien.
“Why not show me the wolf under that sheep’s clothing, you weakling?!” mocked the elite.
“RRAAARRGGHHH!!!” roared the Captain, revealing his true form. His smooth, and slender form became that of a scaly, monstrous berserker.
The man scoffed, crossing his arms as the fight paused. “That’s more like it.”
“Polar,” growled the brute, “You need to go, now!”
“What?” Polar questioned.
“You’re too damn injured. If you stay any longer, that Saiyan will fry you.”
“I will not run and hide while the Saiyans wipe us out.”
“Trust me. You are more important than I am, Polar. You’re the last of the Arcosians.”
Polar sighed. As much as he hated to admit it, the berserker had a point. If he died here, the Arcosians would be gone for good. But if he left, the Arcosians would have a better chance. He would live to fight another day, as the saying goes.
Inhaling deeply, Polar nodded in compliance. It was a bitter pill to swallow, to be sure, but it was better to swallow his pride than die for nothing.
“Good luck, Captain.” Polar knew this was a hallow gesture. The elite easily bested both of them. He hoped that with the Zarbonite’s doubled power would give him an edge, but that was wishful thinking.
Rushing as fast as his damaged body would take him, the Arcosian glanced around at the sudden changes in environment. The clouds in the sky had turned black, and an orange-red lightning was crackling. Strangely enough, the sky was usually a lavender color.
The ground was glowing an orange neon color, with cracks forming into the ground. From those cracks, a lava-like liquid was seeping. Polar could feel the heat radiating off this new substance.
It was like a doomsday.
Polar entered the hangar and found several pods. Most of them were destroyed in the initial assault by Icarus, or the following attacks by the Saiyan strike team. The rest were taken by retreating soldiers and deserters. There was at least one functioning space ship left, but it was a beater at best. It looked as if it wouldn’t run at all. Fortunately, Polar managed to get it working.
The pod slowly levitated upward. A crackle of orange lightning flashed, bouncing off the pod. For a moment, the ship’s systems nearly failed, but thankfully, it withstood the strike.
Before the ship zoomed off, Polar caught a final glimpse of the fight between Lime and the Saiyan, both of whom were surrounded by new-lakes of lava. Surprisingly, the Captain was holding his own against the elite, until the Saiyan manage to break through his defenses and slay the beast with a powerful Ki wave which vaporized the Zarbonite.
The pod left behind the planet’s atmosphere, and Kanassa was suddenly obliterated in a blinding light. The force of the blast propelled Polar’s pod, and even rocked it a bit. Still, the Arcosian was able to see the asteroids that remained after the flash faded.
Polar closed his eyes solemnly. Now that the excitement was gone, he had time for some peace. Yet peace he would not get. All the people he grew to respect as comrades—Taiga, Nudal, Lime, Yu—were dead. It haunted him.
He opened his eyes and glanced at the console, hoping to distract himself from the visions of the fallen. On the navigation console, Polar sighted that the course was locked for Earth. He remembered that place well. And he knew it might be his only refuge from the Saiyans…
