Polar landed next to Taiga and stood in a defensive stance. His panting indicated that Taiga had given him a tough time during the fight, yet he was swept with satisfaction in the fact that he managed to finally land a blow. Polar lowered his guard and stood at ease as Taiga's words signaled and end to the combat.
Taiga then turned to grab his scouter and, as he did, he began to speak of the grim nature they had discussed just that morning; the genocide of the Arcosians. They must stick together, and Taiga's words reinforced Polar's beliefs.
"You have my loyalty, Taiga," Polar replied plainly.
The Saiyans won't do us in.

Taiga smiles at Polar's response, but it would be one that clearly showed concern.
"And so now we begin the second stage of our training." Taiga says, looking skyward. "Tell me, what do you know of the history between our people, and the Saiyans? And what do you know of our great Empire's singular history?"
It was a subject that would probably seem out of place, but Taiga felt it a necessary one. The only step towards the future was through observing the past.

Polar raised a brow. He crossed his arms and pondered on Taiga's words. It seemed a bit out of left field, yet Polar complied nonetheless.
"I can't I am familiar with the history, other than the constant fighting. Nothing beyond that."

Taiga nods; he isn't surprised to hear that his fellow knew little of the past. Arcosians seldom taught about their history.
"Our Empire is several thousand years old; dating back to a great galactic pirate Arcosian who laid the foundation that would become the Planet Trade Organization." Taiga explains. "Business was fair; races of all kinds began making requests of the Organization to obtain new habitable worlds to settle. However, most of these worlds possessed indigenous civilizations of varying size and technologies."
Taiga takes a few steps to the right and leans his back against a large boulder, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Unfortunately, our own world, Arcose, was essentially a dump at the time." Taiga continues. "And during those era's, our people were actually quite weak; none then were the warriors we have become now. Because of this, we relied on mercenary forces to destroy strong civilizations. Soon, our own people sought to inhabit a new homeworld."
Taiga smiles.
"And so, we sought out more warriors to help us. And our ancestors came upon a strong, capable asset." Taiga grunts a chuckle. "Hmhmhmhm... You might have guessed; they encountered the Saiyans. What our ancestors lacked in power, we made up for with wealth and resources; which the Saiyans sorely needed. The Saiyans also loved to fight, as they do now. An alliance was forged, and the Saiyans agreed to serve as the military might of the Planet Trade Organization. Together, they formed an armada designed for the sole purpose of finding and conquering new worlds to sell to their clients."
Taiga sighs.
"The details are a bit hazy, but a little over two thousand years ago, the Saiyans and the Planet Trade Organization, now an Empire, had a falling out, of sorts." Taiga recalls. "Out of either fear, or out of necessity, the Arcosian leader of the time chose to destroy them. The Saiyans were called back to planet Vegeta under the impression that they were needed to gather to conquer some powerful newly discovered world; but it was a lie. Rather, the Saiyans, and the planet, were completely destroyed, save for a handful of survivors who had remained on other worlds."
"Fast forward time, and somehow the Saiyans repopulated, and Planet Vegeta was remade; or perhaps they simply conquered a new world and named it such; that much I am not clear on." Taiga says, tilting his head slightly to the left in concentration. "No doubt, the Saiyans passed down their hatred for our people because of the betrayal. And that, my friend, is why we face this situation today. The Arcosian Empire grew complacent, and failed to renew ties with the Saiyans. And finally, now that they have the power, the Saiyans sought to destroy us as our ancestors destroyed them."
Taiga pauses for a moment.
"One wonders what would have been, had the Arcosian Empire and the Saiyan Solar Empire had renewed the age-old alliance." Taiga says, almost absently. He looks at Polar. "Though it may seem strange to you, I do not hate the Saiyans for what they did. I am angered, yes, but I do not hate them. When we betrayed them, something like this was destined to happen. We just happen to live in the era it occurs in."
"So, knowing this, what are your thoughts?" Taiga asks.

It took a moment for Polar to absorb the information. For a moment, he believed it to be idealistic nonsense Taiga had pulled out of his hat. An Arcosian blowing up Planet Vegeta? That surely would've been common knowledge. Even if Taiga was more learned than he, this seemed like something that would be deeply ingrained in the Arcosian's memories.
It did explain things, though. It was not as easy as a pill to swallow, knowing that they could've possibly been the real monsters in this war. He didn't want to believe it, and it would've been much easier to simply pass off the Saiyans as greedy Imperialists.
Then one question rolled through his mind; How could Taiga have possibly known this, if it was truly so long ago, and yet so unremembered?
Surely he wouldn't make it up. There's no reason. Somehow, Taiga knew more than he was letting on.
"How did you obtain this knowledge?" Polar asked suspiciously.

Taiga's eyes settle on Polar. The news was clearly more than his fellow had expected. Taiga narrows his eyes slightly, and smiles."It was my clan that hired the Saiyans those thousands of years ago." Taiga replies in an even tone of voice. "My ancestors are the ones who paid the Saiyans for clearing a world. It was my ancestors who offered the Saiyans the opportunity to conquer worlds to sate their lust for battle."Taiga seems laugh inwardly, barely audible."Knowledge is passed down, just like hatred." Taiga tells Polar. "My clan possessed many secrets of our Empire. And what one does with that knowledge... Well... Saving an Empire can happen in more ways then one. The greatest victories don't always end in blood. Now then, we will retire for the day..."Taiga says no more on the subject, allowing Polar to come up with his own interpretation. He takes a few steps away from Polar, and levitates several meters into the air. Feeling he had given his ally something to think about, Taiga heads back to the command tower for some much needed rest. He hadn't slept probably days... Some sleep was sorely needed.

Polar could only watch Taiga fly off, wordless at the information he had given him. It was surely a lot to take in. Were the Arcosian the true villains? The idea seemed preposterous. And yet here Taiga was, preaching it as if he knew it all. The question then entered his mind; was Taiga truly the noble general he had been lead to believe, or did he have ulterior motives behind a masquerade...?
Like Chilleon.
Polar's doubt was easily subsided however. Taiga was different than Chilleon. He had to be.
With that, he cast all his worries aside, and thought nothing more on it. Polar placed his hands behind his back and overlooked the horizon. The sun was boiling over him, and the beads of sweat streaming down his face just made him realize how much work he put himself through just to land a hit on Taiga. But he knew well that was only a fraction of the difficulty of the war to come...
