Benetto left the starting area, ignoring many of the onis around and staked out Heaven proper. As he noticed with cursory details before, there were many activities, some even to assist with fantasies that human abilities could never quite compare to. For the adventurous, cloud surfing. For the artistically minded, the ability to create whatever you desired, almost instantly. For the...Benetto wasn't entirely certain why a makeshift obstacle course was sitting in the middle of one of the plazas, as many of the training equipment that was present would be entirely useless for one without a body. For the first time since entering, Benetto felt a pang of doubt as he surveyed the wonders, but he had to stay steadfast. (I'm not leaving a second time. Not for all the wish fulfillment in the world. I'll just see this as a sneak peek for when I am done with what I need to do, hopefully a long time from now.)
(Right, let's get down to brass tacks here. There's one person here that I'm not leaving without seeing, and that's Nova. Other kinds of help can wait for a bit, this one's a priority. There's a responsibility you take up when you put on a suit, and he failed it.) "Nova! I know you're here, we need to talk."

This isn't so bad... That thought persisted as an echo in the mind of the former hero of justice: Nicolas Mclendon (AKA the briefly famous Captain Nova.) The young man contentedly sat in what was literally paradise. This realm he was in: it was tailored around the ideal that the good and just were to be rewarded eternally for the hardships and trauma they faced in their lives. Dreams were shaped into reality, impossibilitiy was a non existant idea, and a feeling of true and complete peace filled the air. Dread, fear, anger, pain, they were all practically non existant in this wonderful dream. It was the sweet everlasting after taste to the bitter pill of death that was suffered almost a lifetime ago to some of the spirits roaming the endless stretch of paradise. Among the spirits sat the young man who gave his life in a desperate bid to save the world. Like them, he was dead. Stone cold. Unlike them however, he wasn't confined to the bodiless puff ball form that everyone seemed to appear in. He was in his own skin. He had his body back and despite being dead he felt alive. The only thing that signified he belonged in this world was the glowing radiance that formed a halo over his head. While that was different, he didn't mind it so much. In fact he seemed to get a little comfort from the glowing ring. The reason he was granted this form was actually not due to any of his actions, rather, it was King Yemma who provided him with a replacement body. Though he wasn't granted this favor out of the kindness of the salty old Ogre's heart: if it weren't for Bing the 'Kami' specifically requesting that he was taken care of he probably would have been stuck as a floating puff ball spirit. While he didn't get the chance to see some King Kai or whatever Yemma was talking about having his body back was more than a worthy consolation prize. So Nicolas sat, body and all, in one of the areas dedicated for the creatively minded spirits. The once student artist was busily sketching something out on a sketchpad. While he could have easily created what he was dreaming of instantly (due to the nature of heaven and all) he felt that was cheating, he wanted to hone his skill himself. That is to say he didn't completely exclude and turn his nose up at the miracles offered to him. The endless sketchbook and always sharp and unbreakable pencil was almost all he needed for it to be called 'paradise.' He could also 'undo' pencil strokes like he was working on a computer. Cause magic. It was awesome. As he happily sketched away he zoned out and just let his pencil do the work. He was absorbed in every stroke and every line. His thoughts only thought to the picture in front of him as he let himself work. His thoughts were interrupted however as a high pitched squeak of call echoed out his name. Rather, his alter ego's name. He blinked adjusting his glasses (Why did he still need those?!) before he stood. "Well, if they want Captain Nova I suppose I can give him to them." He mused to himself as he looked around to see if any other spirits were nearby (not that it mattered really.) "They said I could create anything here right? I always kind of wanted to try this..." He said with a bit of a grin as he suddenly stood up dramatically. "Star Power! Shine On!" Responding to his thoughts the world around him would shift as his body was enveloped in a white light. He outstretched his arms and legs as the powerful light focused there. He clenched his fists, pulling them away from the light causing the light itself to shatter in a few glimmering shards revealing his now gloved hand. He pulled his other limbs away from the light to similar effect putting him in the first part of his costume. He struck a pose as the light focused on his chest, his brilliant star emblem formed dead center with a powerful golden light before once again shattering to reveal his chest piece. He brought the glow to his gloved hand only to hold it above his head. He smirked before swiping it over his face His visor forming instantly in response. He crossed his arms as the remaining light went to form his already billowing cape. "I am Captain Nova!" ...That was so cool, it was just like one of his animes or comics! Elated at his ultra cool transformation sequence the hero would rush towards the spirit that called out to him. It only took him a moment to cut across the purple skies before he lowered himself before the lone little spirit that called him out. "How might I assist you denizen of heaven!" He paused, realizing that 'helping' anyone in heaven seemed a little silly. "...Rather, why have you called upon me? I doubt there is much I can do for you here... I mean, this place IS paradise after all." He commented, looking through his visor to the tranquil scenery. He had no idea just what a large chip was resting on this little squeaker's shoulder. A bright light drew Benetto's attention to a figure not too far away, beginning what looked like a transformation sequence. (It figures he'd be playing around here. After all, he was goofing off when the world was about to be destroyed, so of course he'd take the chance to go all out here. That said, it is a pretty nice transformation...maybe I'll have to remember that for later, perhaps get a few pointers, and...focus, focus!) Captain Nova approached the puffball that was Benetto, and began asking why he was calling for him. "You don't recognize me? Come on, it's not that hard, I've got the pink hair, bright costume, cat ears, I should be pretty easy to...oh. Right. Okay, fine then. I'm the other superhero that was present at the fight with Realigner Red. As for what you can do, that's the tricky part, as I think you've done quite a lot up to this point to cause this situation to begin with. Did you even listen to a single word I said back there, hmm? 'We don't have the power to keep up. Protect the people. I'd prefer it if both Warriors of Peace and Justice aren't deep-fryed.' Well, take a look, because you couldn't keep up, you instigated the deaths of thousands, and we're both sitting here dead as can be. Now, we don't know what happened, if your plan even worked, and I'm stuck wondering if my own sister made it out of this whole mess alive."
Benetto moved over to Nova's side, prodding at the costume. "But that's what you've done. First and foremost...how in Kami's name did you manage to get a body? I know for a fact I'm not going to be able to do much of anything like I am right now, so if there's any information there, that would be greatly appreciated. I'll need my body back before I can escape here and get back to what's really important, and this is where you come in, as I'm not leaving without dragging you with me. There's a whole lot I still need to get done, and there's a whole lot you need to answer for. That said, it would be easier working with you than against you, so are you with me on this or against me?"
Benetto moved back in front of the former hero, doing his best to make a stern expression read from the little puff. (If I have to drag him with me when I leave, at least he's not that hard to find. I'm still pissed about this whole thing, hell, I'm here because I tried to save him, so the least he can do is work to make some form of amends. Eternal rest is only for when you've got no regrets left over, and I certainly have plenty. I'm not staying here, and I'll be damned if he is either. I hope he takes on the responsibility, though. It will be hard enough escaping normally, much less dragging somebody back with me...)

The young man just...Stood there, as the spirit spoke to him. A large amount of his speech was just the little spirit berating him or blaming him for the situation. Through it all the young man remained silent. The colorful hero that had always tried to inject hope or light into any situation through a heroic speech or a light hearted joke was... Speechless. He didn't even let out a breath. All he did was lightly hang his head as he just... Stood there. Though most of his face was covered by that reflective visor, the spirit might have been able to catch the lightest twitching of a frown replacing the normally sunny grin he flashed for the public.
'We don't have the power to keep up.' 'Protect the people.' That's what he had said back then... Protecting the people was the only thing that he tried to do! Even Realigner Red acknowledged his efforts of heroism and he was the villain in that scenario! He saved many people in his efforts, all while this 'hero' gawked at the villain's power. Why did he even show up?! He said it himself: 'He didn't have the power to keep up.' He didn't even bother trying to help anyone! The only ones who did were himself, that blonde haired woman, and the girl with the radical hairstyle. He did protect the people! The only reason he tried to stop Realigner Red was because he knew that they had a chance to stop him for good. If they let him run free for a week unopposed he would go on killing innocents. He was probably killing someone right this instant! They had a chance to prevent that so he stepped up. He didn't step up and end up giving his life away for the glory of being a 'hero.' He didn't give a shit about the 'glory.' If he was only in that hero business for himself he wouldn't have challenged Realigner. He would have let him go to save himself.
As the spirit moved to inspect and prod over him Nicolas would yank himself away with clenched fists. He was trembling... The surge of emotion he felt welling up in his heart overpowered any calming effect the atmosphere had on him. As the spirit went on about 'escaping' and how they should work together to sneak out of heaven He merely shook his head. He was tired of this squeaky voiced bastard. As he looked upon him with scron Nicolas finally spoke.
"...Shut up."
His voice came out in a weak tremble as he feebly tried to contain himself one last time.
"SHUT UP!" He repeated fury overtaking his voice as he cried out at the little spirit. "How DARE you throw this in my face!" He snapped his golden aura flickering violently around his form in his outrage. "How dare you try to say 'I told you so!' Have you no decency whatsoever?! I'm well aware of what my actions wrought it's something I'm going to have to live with for the rest of my eternity! I understand perfectly the gravity of the situation! I don't need a reminder!" He snarled his aura building in intensity. If Benetto could feel energy he'd feel that Nicolas' power was practically three times his own.
"As you so needlessly reminded me: you told me that we couldn't keep up and that we should protect the people. I did that, everyone knows it! Even the damn villain! While I might not have been the most powerful person there I more than did my part. All you did was try to follow behind me and criticize me! I could keep up just fine! You were the one staggering so don't project your failings unto me!" He yelled pointing a finger at him.
"Even though I don't have to justify myself or my actions I'll do so for your sake! I was trying to stop Realigner. Even if he left without my interference that wouldn't prevent him from murdering countless others! I saw a chance to stop him then and there and I took it. I didn't try to challenge him to test my mettle or to be the reigning champion! While yes, I have fun playing the part of the hero the main reason I took up the mask was to protect people! There have been too many times in my life were I sat powerless as people did what they want at the cost of others." He said, his voice trembling at the last bit. "I vowed that I wouldn't let people hurt others for the sake of themselves! That's all Realigner Red did and is doing! He killed hundreds of people... No, thousands! All while chasing a fucking fairy tale! A kids story! I had to stop him. I HAD TO!" He roared his emotions reaching fever pitch tears of frustration burning in his eyes.
"I had to try! I had to do something! I didn't do it because I was playing around I did it to remove an evil. I did it for the countless people he's killed. I gave up my life for a chance to stop him for good. If you wouldn't do the same thing then you're the real fucking joke." He said, his rage subsiding briefly as he crossed his arms.
After a tense pause Nicolas would turn his back facing away from the spirit.
"...I'm sorry about your sister though, I left a family behind myself... Two sisters and two brothers and my folks. They have no idea... They assume I'm still in school." He said quietly glancing aside to him with his back still turned. "...I got my body because the guardian of the Earth recognized my actions of heroism and asked King Yemma to treat me well. He made good on that request by giving me my body back. He's a good guy despite everything." He explained, relenting the information that was asked of him earlier. "Not like it'll matter to you, your quest to 'escape' is ridiculous. This isn't some game. We're dead. Accept that. I dont want any part in your delusions...Though, I'm sorry you were killed in the crossfire." He spoke in a mixture of bitterness and empathy. He had no idea whether to express sorrow or anger at the moment. He was just... Done.

"Staggering behind? You're trying to tell me I did nothing, huh?" Benetto's voice began to take on a hard edge in anger at the costumed hero. "How much did you think about the fight, then? Overall means of victory? Strengths and weaknesses of the fighters present? How about finding gaps in the fighting styles, or keeping an eye on the flow of battle as a whole? What about when a chunk of building nearly collapsed on you and the people you were trying to save, and I nearly broke my legs to stop it? How about risking my neck going up to the front lines before you made your move, in an attempt to get a possible winning strategy to the grey-haired fighter? Then, when you did hold Realigner Red, how about how I tried my hardest to get everybody present to participate, on the off chance it might work? And then, to top it all off, I died using an attack that I didn't even know would work to propel me at high enough speeds on the off chance I might be able to save you, huh?" Benetto's voice began to rise to a fever pitch. "IT'S NOT MY DAMN FAULT IF NOBODY NOTICES ME!"
Benetto stopped, suddenly all too aware of the spirits around him. The wisp seemed to sink for a moment, before returning to its normal shape. "R-right. Sorry. Look, I know the feeling of needing to at least try. It's the same reason I tried to save you, because even if I disagree with your decision, I'm not about to let somebody die in front of me. As you said, I had to try. I had to do something, because at the end of the day, you had a better shot against Realigner Red than me. I didn't want any of this to happen. I tried to warn you not out of fear, but because I didn't want to see anybody else die to that monster. The terrible truth is that we needed that week he was offering. Our strongest fighter, the grey-hair, couldn't do more than superficial burns to it. We weren't organized or prepared. He put us in a terrible situation. I can only hope that warrior is still alive after that attack, or all hope might just be lost. So no, I know I couldn't do much. I tried to do what I could, as brains aren't defined by power. I may be a shoddy martial artist, but I knew I just might turn the tides with strategy instead."
"So, you got your body from the recommendation of the Guardian of Earth, hmm?" The wisp body again sunk slightly, this time only just barely. "Damn, I was hoping you had found a way to get your body back through repeatable means. I'll just have to work harder at it, then. As for dying in the crossfire, don't be sorry. I still disagree with your decision but I will never regret risking my life to try to save somebody else. I don't care how delusional getting out might be. I don't care if nobody's done it before. If so, then I'll just have to be the first to do it. There are people I've left behind that need me, however little of me there still is. I'm not going to give up fighting just because I'm dead. All my life I've had to struggle against standards set by others. Both my weakest and my proudest moment was when I broke free to be myself. If I have to fight King Yemma himself, so be it. I will find a way out, and I'll drag you back with me if I have to."

Nicolas hung his head as the little spirit spoke out the express his frustrations. He went by unnoticed, unappreciated, and unheard. It seemed he felt as powerless as everyone during that conflict. In reality, he supposed he was taking out some of his frustrations unto the other hero. It seemed as if they were taking their frustrations out on each other and...That wasn't right... He knew better than to act that way. Yet he still lashed out. The little spirit of Accelerando had enough on his plate already. Despite being dead he was still focused on trying to be the best hero he could be. That was commendable but Nicolas was unsure if it was a misplaced drive.
He turned, looking to the spirit awkwardly after a moment before he cleared his throat. "Accelernado, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I lashed out at you and... I'm sorry you died trying to save me." He said, his gaze shifting to the grassy floor below. "...And I'm sorry if my sacrifice felt like I was wasting a shot to beat him. I just... Got caught in the moment I guess." He said brushing his long black hair out of his face and away from that reflective visor of his. He sighed before looking to the little puff ball. "I know you said you've still got things to do and I can respect that but, It just doesn't feel right to turn your back on this you know? I mean... Who are we to say no to paradise? It doesn't seem like something... Something to run from."
He paused, the image of his family flashing before his mind and memories of that... Horrible nightmarish vision of his brother trying to find him. The very thought of it was enough to cause the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up a bit. He shuddered, trying to shake the traumatic memory away before he glanced to Benetto's spirit to refocus on him. "Listen... I have family like you but 'busting out' of heaven isn't going to help... In fact I think they'd be more likely to send you to the 'Bad place' if they found out you broke out of heaven... I actually saw an animated movie about something like that...There was this mutt and this pocket watch and...Never mind." He said realizing he got off track. He cleared his throat, in an attempt to refocus himself before he placed his hands on his hips and puffed out his chest getting back into 'hero mode'
"Just be careful fellow do gooder! Don't do something you'll regret! After all, a life lasts a lifetime and eternity lasts...Well, you know." He said in his over the top superheroic tone that the people had come to know and love. "Perhaps there are other...Less violent ways of getting a second chance. You just have to believe in yourself! Ho-Hah!" He called out striking a super heroic pose to punctuate his statement.
He forced a laugh, realizing he had 'broken character' since his outburst.

Nova, now greatly calmed down, hung his head and apologized for lashing out at Benetto. "Right. It wasn't right for me to yell at you either, I shouldn't burden you with my problems. As I said before, I don't regret trying to save you. If you insist on making it up to me, I have an idea there, but that's for later. In regards to paradise, yeah, I know it's not usually something to run from. I'm having to fight every inclination in my body to enjoy the scenery, have fun, relax, enjoy the fruits of my labors. However, I don't deserve this, not yet. I'm not done doing what I need to do, and I'm not going to sit back and forget everything while people still need me."
Nova puffed out his chest and began speaking as a hero once more. "Do-gooder, hmm?" Benetto shifted taller, with an almost goofy tone added to his voice. "Arriving at the scene, one hero stands before another, the Warrior of Peace and Justice, Accelerando!" As this began, an oni, noticing the commotion from previously, walked over to the pair. "Excuse me, Mr. Mclendon, Mr. Giri? Is there any problems I could help solve? The two of you seem rather agitated."
"N-none at all! Ha, haha! Hahahaha! Diving from the clouds, the Warrior of Peace and Justice drags down with him the very stars themselves so that they might illuminate the ground from a closer point! His methods may not be clear, but justice always finds a way in the end!" With that, Benetto ran off, effectively in a random direction. (Well, getting his help is out, but I shouldn't have to work too hard if, no, when I do find a way out. Now, are there any allies that I can find, or am I just going to have to do this alone? Either way, it's an uphill battle, but I'm not giving up. I can't give up now.)

As the Oni approached the two and asked if everything was alright Captain Nova would awkwardly scratch the back of his head and let out a bit of a nervous chuckle. "T-Trouble no! No! No trouble at all here sir!" He said waving his arms in an awkwardly dismissive and or defensive manner. "To be honest, we were just talking about how we died and all... It was a bit tense and well there might have been a bit of emotion flaring here or there nothing to big right Accelernado?" He asked looking back only to see the spirit had gone calling out in a super heroic fashion and spouting some nonsense.
"H-Hey! Don't leave me with the bag you jerk! Come back here!" He called out seeing him scuttle off before the Oni could get a word in. He paused before looking to the Oni, his costume fading leaving him in his normal clothes once more. "Sorry for the trouble, I'll try to keep things in check for now." He said bowing his head to the horned guardian. "B-But for now I'm gonna go on back...Uh...Over there... Bye!" He said waving before leaving the Oni to sort of watch with a confused expression.
"Hmm... Not to self, keep Benetto Giri and Nicolas Mclendon separated if possible..." The oni mumbled to himself as he scribbled into his notepad. He sighed after a moment. "Why is it always the crazies that come up here I swear..."
