((if you have an additional poll options, post them below and I'll edit)) Ok, so next poll! This one has come up due to a situation that has occurred twice now. Sometimes you make a character and they don't turn out to be as interesting/fun as you thought, or you realise you're spread too thin and need to concentrate on just a single character rather than two. When this happens, should people be allowed to 'transfer' their earning ((that is, graded training and graded zeni, not anything gained 'for free')) to their next/primary character in order 'salvage' some of the effort they have put into this character. Currently the two members who stand to potentially gain from a change in these rules would be Tsumuri(previously Kabu, relevant: wodsouls.freeforums.net/post/1007/thread ) and Oguma(also plays Houri, voiced desire to concentrate more exclusively on Oguma) Obviously things would be monitored carefully, and restrictions put in place, to avoid potential abuse or unfairness. Additionally, when transferred, the old character is removed and can no longer be returned, basically the transfer is a one-way deal that cannot be taken back. (if ever a member objects to someone transferring, a public poll can be held and they can argue their case why it is/is not fair for the given person to do it, members with vested interests would also be noted/scrutinised to avoid bias) the three options currently put forward are: Yes, but only up to a capped amount - I'm thinking maybe 20,000 (base) pl is the max that a char can go up to. This means if your new character is already above 20,000 base you cannot transfer the pl, or if you have more than 20,000 pl on your old char, the new one will still be capped at 20,000 from the transfer. Feel free to suggest other values for this cap to be at. Yes, but only once per person - perhaps instead of capping the amount of pl, we cap the amount of times a given person can use it. Make it a single shot deal, to avoid people using it multiple times and give some additional weight to the decision. No, new character = clean slate - keep the rules as they currently are, where grades from your old character cannot be redeemed. --- Personally I'm inclined towards the first one so that's where my vote is going. I do like the idea of giving a little leeway into the system, so that people can choose if they want to make a new character from scratch or 'reincarnate' (at least partially) to not entirely lose their progress.

I like the idea of there being a cap or capped amount but I think that if the limit is 20k it should be lowered by a certain percentage or number each time. I kind of feel giving people the chance to gain PL after switching characters might be a little too easy going.
Also I don't think you should be able to make two separate characters then sacrifice one of those characters and merge PL or get some sort of large gain. Going into a second character you should know beforehand that taking on more than one character to RP can be a big thing to do. In Oguma's case I think he should be let off with this and gain PL mainly because of the situation he's currently in but for the future I think it's a bad idea. Maybe if you retire a second character you get some sort of Zeni bonus instead so that you can catch up via another method.

I was gonna vote one of the other options, but since you clarified it's getting capped at 20k, I'm alright with it. However, this is a road that must be tread carefully.

I think I may agree with Azurai on this one. I hadn't a clue what to do with Houri after the tourney since aliens are kind of limited on what they could do due to being on Earth. But now I'll play as her I believe once this saga is over if not though I'd like to at least be able to transfer my power and/or Zeni once.

I kinda added this: "if ever a member objects to someone transferring, a public poll can be held and they can argue their case why it is/is not fair for the given person to do it" too address a situation such as current Oguma. ((no offense intended to you broski )) In that giving Oguma more power right now would actually be pretty bad, due to current balance of players((everyone has one or two people who are the same level as them, to act as a 'rival', and we have people who can at least 'fend oguma off')), he'd have 130,000 odd pl(transformed) if his two characters current pl was rolled together though, which is a little two strong to work favorably After the saga it would be cool, but for now it would be best if not. One however who would benefit more favorably would be Tsumuri, who could use it after his battle with Pieter/at a time agreed upon specifically by Pieter to go up to 5963pl (23,852 transformed). And I definitely agree it must be treated with care, if ever any issues come up we can adjust it to address them, and it should definitely be considered a privilege not a right meaning it's not a 'guaranteed thing'.

To be honest, that was what I was a tad worried about, concerning Oguma (my apologies to you too man). I do agree afterwards. In Oguma's case, he captures a certain soul (in which case I guess would be Houri's) and he devours it, the power boost coming out of no where, where he only ate the soul to help him recover from whatever powerful battle he's underwent. In Tsumari's case, though, I think it'd be alright at this point in the fight. His power has a sudden drastic change, but it's just that part of whatever limiter on him that his father submitted him to before casting him out would 'loosen up.' His emotions enable him to dig deep to bring out some of his potential (I'm thinking on how that'd be implemented in the story thus far). That's my two cents on this part.

I can wait until some time after the current saga to do this. But yeah, I think there should be a cap on characters if someone makes a second one and wants to instead just play as a primary character, and in doing so somehow gets a power boost from a character they made as a secondary one. That is if this vote goes through. Tsumuri I think should get more of a benefit then I would from this I feel since he's got a lot to catch up on here. I'll keep Houri's fate on hold.

Well, another option tying in with what Azurai said would be you can't do it for characters that have been RP'd in tandem. That would mean since Oguma was also playing Houri at the same time he can't merge their pl. Tsumuri was made after Kubu was already 'gone' though(unless I am mistaken), meaning that he can. Alternatively, perhaps it could be a tied to RPing, you get enhanced gains up to 20,000 pl OR however much pl your other character had... Any other options anyone's thought of? ((the real problem here seems to just be the transformation you have, being x9 means small gains give exponential benefits. Akio set the multipliers a little high for my liking XD, perhaps that could be another poll to have)) -------- As for your comment Pieter(and by extension Tsumuri) While I'll leave it up to you two to negotiate/decide, I can't resist throwing in my two cents Personally, since transferring the pl would make Tsumuri stronger than you (due to his trans), I would play it out as: (keep current pl's) Pieter is dominant and has Tsumuri on the ropes. Eventually Tsumuri transforms and the fight resurges, becoming more even(though Pieter still has the upper hand). Despite his efforts Tsumuri is defeated. (Kabu's power now gets added) Tsumuri does a 'rise from the ashes' type moment with this new strength, and the tables have now solidly turned. Pieter takes a beating and when his demise seems at hand... the moon emerges, and we begin the great ape shakeup that was put forward in the earlier poll. But that's just the sort of thing I think would be cool, feel free to do it any way you like .

Yeah... That was the plan I had developed in my own mind.

I like that plan, tying in the sudden change of PL in an RP which leads to Pieter's great ape transformation.

Alright. You're probably wondering why this poll is here in this section. This is a recent, somewhat major, mechanic that had been installed. As you can see, at first, it was plot relevant. However, it's become open knowledge now and, honestly, we're still working out the kinks.
So, from what I've gathered now, if a player's got 2 characters and one of the characters goes inactive while the other thrives, and so long as the characters are at least below 20k in power level, they can take some or all of the power level from the inactive character to add onto the other, active character. The transferal, though, can not send the character above 20k power level, so whatever is still on the old character goes into nothingness.

Maybe it would be good to disconsider the starting pl when doing the transfer. Meaning if an arcosian that started at 2.000 and is now 20.000 decide to make a human, he will transfer up to 18.000 to the other character, rather than his full base pl. That may help prevent certain abuses regarding the different starting power levels for different races.

I can see this being very heavily abused. I think, maybe put a cap at half of the other character's PL, but NO cap on zenni. So say the inactive character had a PL of 10,000, than the owner could choose to transfer 5,000 to another character, or create a new character on the same account. However they would be able to transfer ALL of the zenni from one to the other. I feel that this should also have a cap of 20,000 PL. I feel that capping it at half of the other character's PL regardless of level, would prevent abuse, and also help balance it so that characters don't become instantly OP.
So if that could be an alternative option, yes, but only half discarded character's PL and capped at 20,000 PL Than that would be where my vote would go.

'tis why this is here, now to be discussed more. We have agreed upon what the maximum power level is. However, with the increase in characters owned by 1 person, here's the new question to be brought up here:
How many times is a character power level transfer permitted? In fairness, this can only happen once, if the character is below 20,000 power level. No additional times.
Now, another factor, a fair one that karanon has brought up: Half the power level instead of the whole amount. I think this is a good idea too. There's a LARP I go to that actually implements the same idea, where you take half of the retired or dead character's exp gains and give them to the new character you start up, having a maximum of 50 exp being given to the character (exp was only given when you went to the event and gave your character sheet at the end of the weekend to your character.)
Anway, with that thought, I'm wondering this: Is it permitted to take half the power level of dead characters, just those that have retired, or either one? I'm thinking either one, to make it alright with people.
Zeni... My thoughts come to this, "... Loot the body, loot the body, loot the body!"

I believe the transfer is if you completely remove one character and create another one, as opposed to transferring PL by removing one to an existing one. Think 'reincarnation', albeit OOCly.
