HEAVY WEIGHTS WORN
---------------------------------
Voices. All these voices. Make them stop...
The young monk knelt in the ashes of the former tournament grounds, scraping his hands through the dust made up of the tournaments crumbled remains. Azurai scanned the area as the disappointment and sadness in his heart grew stronger. Azurai needed an escape, and escape from this world and from his mind. Azurai stood up off the ground, wiping the dust off of his knees then looking out into the sun as it set behind one of the only remaining stands in the once acclaimed arena. Azurai knew deep down that this would be the last sunset he saw through his own eyes for the last time. Taking in every last second of it's shining glory Azurai watched the sun leave the Earth's views. Like the sun Azurai had chosen to rest. How long would Azurai rest away? Probably forever. But this gave Azurai a sense of peace. Azurai had failed at his chance to make a difference in any significant way and knew that from taking the choice to watch over the Earth that he was no longer needed. What was needed was Azurai's other self. A darkness which needed the benefit of the light, the moon to Azurai's sun. Azurai sat down, looking at the Earth one last time he smiled and closed his eyes. It was time to enter a void Azurai had sworn he would never go back to. Upon beginning a meditation he would never leave Azurai said goodbye to the Earth.
"Hmm? You're back again eh."
Azurai opened his eyes facing parallel to his other self. Azurai's other self was indeed identical in every way, shape and form apart from his purely dark heart which shaped and directed almost every one of Azurai's darker and yet also more logical decisions. Azurai placed his arm on his other self with a wide grin.
"Yup, and could you guess why? Hehe"
Azurai's giggle accompanied his question. It was a while since Azurai was able to feel safe and like himself, it was amazing what an empty canvas could achieve as a backdrop. Azurai's other self looked at him in confusion but anyone could tell that he was quite curious.
"Well this is the last place I'd expect a fool like you to be... so, no."
Azurai's other self teased with a smirk on his face. Although Azurai's other self pretended to hate the site of Azurai he was a strong part of him, and he didn't get to tease others very often. Azurai only smiled at his response and began with his explanation.
"I've failed us, I've failed you... You always knew our Monks teachings were wrong and for not listening and shaping my own path early enough I failed everyone. You're the only one who can change and make a difference now. It's your turn to take the wheel buddy."
Azurai's brief explanation was all that was needed for his other self to understand. After all Azurai's other self was with him during the fight at the tournament, the fight which had scarred Azurai forever. Azurai's other self understood that fights with large impact were more scarring to some, humans did work quite simply.
"I see... well in that case I'll gladly take over. But the promise of change... this may be too much for me."
Azurai's other self levelled with Azurai. When they had last met Azurai's other self played the part of the psychopath. The tendencies were there but Azurai's other self did care more than he showed, it was now his turn to protect Azurai and protect him he would. Azurai's other self would do his best to keep Azurai in a comfortable position, comfortable enough for him to feel happy upon his return. In a sense Azurai's other self always did the dirty work, this would be no different. Azurai smiled at his other self and turned away looking into the vast emptiness.
"I guess it's time for me to explore my own mind huh."
Before Azurai's other self could reply Azurai was gone. Into the space of his own mind. For the first time ever Azurai's other self was truly alone with full reign over Azurai's decisions. Before he knew it Azurai's other self awoke in the tournament grounds. Azurai's other self raised his hands looking at them in shock. Within seconds Azurai's other self began to laugh, he had finally made it into the outside world.
"So what do you think Azurai? How does the name Azu sound?"
Azurai's other self spoke to no-one but himself giving himself a name, 'Azu'. Whether or not Azurai was still truly there was a complete mystery to Azu. Azu knew if Azurai ever recovered he would show himself but for now Azu was granted the luxury of life and the ability to fully make his own decisions. Taking off into the skies Azu couldn't help but smile.
He was free, and with no more voices.
