Here is my suggestion.... We add in the shop, for
200,000 zenni
A way of saying when we go to space, we discovered a planet. Anyone can go to the planet, but its technically owned by that specific person(s) who discovered it. That said, if the person wants to upgrade the planet, he still has to refer to the shop, and be on other planets to get the upgrades first to take to that new planet. Also, you need a ship with a capacity of at least 10 to take one of these shop things.
This way, planet building doesn't get spammed
Also, the owner can choose to apply one of two bonus to a planet. Either a zenni bonus or a place bonus:
Zenni bonus: applies to only owner and his faction. Bonus is equivalent to a tier 2 shop (50). Reason for bonus is because planet is full of resources.
Pl Bonus: applies to everyone. Bonus is equivalent to training into a teir 1 gravity chamber. Reason for this is because planet has stronger gravity
Thoughts?

Why would someone want to discover or own a planet? What boons or bonuses would it bestow? And what's to stop a Frieza from rising up to try to take it? How would planet wars happen?

Like the idea, but 200k is faaaaar too small for a planet, I think to be fair in it all it should be roughly a million easily.

Hmm, I would have to say the bonus would be either place or zenni (players choice) because they might choose a planet with high gravity (pl bonus) or one of resources to sell (zenni bonus). The pl bonus is for everyone, but zenni bonus would only be for the owner and his faction.

I personally like the idea. Though I would think instead of a full on planet maybe it is a large moon or something with planets costing quite a bit more. As I believe that the Trade Alliance did do planet brokering hence the use of saiyans and whatnot to clear off the inhabitants and whatnot.
Would make for some interesting roleplay should you try to purchase and then 'clean' a planet of its intelligent life.

If this does go the way of giving bonuses the price for purchasing a planet should be astronomically high, so that its not easily abused and such.
How I see this working is basically as follows:
A Million for a small planet, hostile environment, little in terms of resources but high in PL bonuses
10 million for an Earth-Like planet, high in resources, low in PL bonuses
1 billion for a planet that is high in both resources and PL bonuses.
Thats just my two cents however.

Pretty much stated my opinion about this in the chat:
To give people an idea it's costing Reikiko/myself 66~100k to get a sub-board properly added to earth, that's just a single floating island. Imagine the cost for a whole planet... 200k won't cut it, and 1m will likely make people go crazy, not to mention the passive bonus would be a no-go most likely. Not to mention we do sort of have too little people to actively populate a ton of planets.

Well what about the ability to take say a Royal STarship to a uninhabited moon or asteroid and then finding a way to say link several of them together and create a colony a lot like what you are doing there Reikiko. I think that would be something similar to what is happening with Avalon. I mean this sounds like a decent idea but in definite need of flushing out in many discussions.

When Hyoza eventually conquers the Arcosian Throneworld(TM) and/or becomes King of the Space Pirates, I was planning to build up a floating asteroid sub-board for him to live on. A Mobile Oppression Palace, if you will.

We should always have discussions before we open polls, as per the rules on it.
I like the idea of small 1-board places that players can create for an additional fee, like Avalon's floating island, or some small asteroid as Hyoza would like, etc.
The problem with owning entire planets in my view is that they should always be contestable. What if you were defeated on your planet and killed? Would you still collect bonuses on it? If not, what happens to your entire investment? If yes, why does that make sense? It's too much of an RP and gameplay quandary in my view.
