Ok a General thing for people reading this. These stories are a little dark and filled with somethings that people may find sad. You have been warned on this account. Now for the backstory. This is the story of a Night Elf Monk that I play in World of Warcraft. These are a story that myself and a friend wrote {Part 1} and Part 2 is all written by myself. I will post them as a set of two posts after this.}}
Monori stood there staring at the ruins of her home as the pandaren walked around her. The corpses of well over a dozen hozen lay beaten and broken around her. One of the pandaren yelled out for the others and Monori already knew what they had found. The body of her best friend and love lay inside impaled through the chest by a large splinter of wood the rest of her crushed beneath the half collapsed roof.
Monori had stolen away from the abbey earlier that day as she had a surprise for Dizzy. She finally decided to take the plunge as their friend Tsundre had so many months back. Inside of her pack was a ring made of gold with a draenei gem inside of its setting. Walking along the long winding path to her house she found it odd as it was so quiet in the area. Usually she would catch glimpses of the pandaren out working the fields but today it was off.
As she neared her home she began to notice a smoke trail rising into the sky. It was odd as Dizzy never used to burn anything when she was not around in case the fire got out of hand. Crowning a hill near the house she saw it and her eyes widened, mouth went dry, and her fists clenched in anger. About a dozen hozen where dancing about the ruins of her home. The home she and Dizzy had built with their own two hands with love and sweat.
The next few minutes where a blur to her as she remembers hearing a hozen scream as she landed a Serpent kick directly on the monkey’s neck snapping it loudly. The kick caused the monkey to go flying and spray his guts out on an overturned plow nearby. She spun the spear off her back and starting attacking the hozen with reckless abandon. Disemboweling the first hozen with a precise strike she threw her spear into the next that charged her. Moving to the third she spun bringing her heel to the face of the hozen shattering its jaw and making it swallow its own teeth.
Summoning up her anger in the form of the white tiger she struck out at the remaining hozen as they converged on her. Each of them finding death at her hands, each of them slaughtered in a bloody way as to make a point to others. Looking up as the last hozen fell to the earth; she heard a faint noise from within the ruins. Heading inside she saw Dizzy laying there, her chest pierced straight through with a large piece of wood and her lower body all but destroyed by the collapsed roof.
Tears welled in Monori’s eyes as she looked at her. She collapsed down onto the ground beside Dizzy and took her hand in her own. Speaking up her voice that was choking back hard fought tears.
“Dizzy, please don’t you be doing this to me.. I… I cannot live without you Diz. You have meant everything to me you set me free from the life I had previously. You.. You cant die…”
The tears filled her eyes as she leaned in to hear Dizzy speak to her faintly, weakly in barely above a whisper. She held onto the hand as she felt the strength and warmth she knew start to leave it and she saw Dizzy’s chest rise and fall for the last time. Letting out a loud mournful cry she let out tears that would not be silenced by any. She held the hand of Dizzy as she pulled out the small box and placed the ring onto her finger. Leaning down she placed a light kiss onto Dizzy’s lips as she cried the last few tears onto her face and she turned to leave the house. Taking a few small things from the house as she left. A simple flower, the few bits of jewelry she had seen the draenei wearing in the past, and her weapons. She was outside as the first pandaren walked up, her tears and demeanor scared the usually happy go lucky pandaren to stay back from her. Instead that pandaren began to put out the fire and move rubble around.
The pandarens screamed as she began to walk away from the house. They had brought out the body of Dizzy and she could not see her. Placing a hand on a helpful female pandaren she recognized that was a farmhand from the farm next door she spoke up quietly.
“Please… see to Dizzy’s body… I… I need to contact some people.” With it said she took several steps away from her and pulled a small communication stone from her pocket and spoke up.
“Amalina, Tsuna, Tsundre… Something has happened at our farm… D… Dizzy is gone…”
With the words spoken she lowered her head and crumpled down onto her knees on the hardened dirt path. Her eyes dry of tears already as she could not see a path before her now that her light had been snuffed out so easily.
{Other perspective of this below}
It all happened in a flash, one moment everything was fine, the next hozen were swarming the crops she tended too, the next she began to fight for her life as they roared after her, blades drawn and death in their eyes. She had defended herself as best as she could, and successfully so within her own house, defying the numbers that they had brought but alas, they cheated as they brought the house down upon her and their already dead fellows. The last thing she remembered was a strange sensation in her chest. As if something had pierced it. She couldn't feel anything beneath her own waist. That was for sure. As everything faded she lay there, cold and alone. “M.....no.” She whispered. “No....” A small flame was ignited, not enough to save her but enough to hold onto tightly.
Her back felt wet, she wasn't sure why as she stared at the darkness of her closed eyelids. Remembering only one thing, the one person she loved more then anything else. Monori Feywhisper. She had no idea how long it had been since she felt the strange sensation. Though the faint smell of copper pierced her nose. “Oh....Blood.” She whispered to nothing. “That's what I'm lying in....Smells old.” It was true, she was lying in a pool of blood. A couple of hours old. “Please....just …. last boon, light, cel....ials, wh....ever.” She tried to cry out, but a dry throat and dead muscles held her silent. Though the blood she coughed up wet her lips, and prevented her mouth from completely drying up.
Death was lonely she decided as she could barely move her arms by now, her hands were frozen with the cold of death, even the blood in her mouth had dried up. She could only rasp by now. She was losing hope and fast, she wanted Monori but yet she wasn't here. The flame she held onto started to flicker, as her belief faded. She started to mutter a prayer of forgiveness but just as she started she heard it, a foot step and a shout. It sounded close, then a warm hand upon her own. Then, her voice came. She blinked, a familiar face. The flame that flickered and died roared back to life as she tore her eyes open and squeezed her hand hard, gasping with raspy breath. “M...no!” She cried out, though to anyone else it was but a mere whisper.
She lay there, exalting the gift she had been given. She listened to Mono's whispered question, and saw the ring presented to her. She felt like she had cried tears, and she had as one tracked down her face, clearing a path through the caked dirt, mud and blood. “Yes.” Relief flooded her as she felt the ring slip onto her finger, it was warm to her. And it filled her with warmth. “D...th....not so....cold now.” She spoke softly. “Love....you...Monori Feywhisper.” She choked out as she was held close. “Just....promise me. You'll.....live.....well.....” She felt everything begin to fade away as she kept a small smile upon her face. “Promise me...you live....” Knowing that the warmth of her lover, and now wife filled her being. “See you....in morning....Mono.” And with that, her last breath left her and she fell limp.
Her other hand had been tightening into a fist, now slowly curled open to reveal a crumpled picture. It was of Monori and her, in the first few months of them meeting. While they had been been apprentices under the same master. A small gift also lay in it. It had a small tag attached to it. It read 'This isn't a gift that can be opened, but it is one you've always had from me. My love. My love for you Monori Feywhisper. I love you, forever more.'

Monori stood on the docks of Lakeshire the gentle spring breeze blwing through her blue hair and fur covered leathers. So many things had changed for her in the year since Dizzy’s death, yet to her many things remained the same. The last trip to Pandaria she had taken to show her respect to Dizzy left her covered in the blood of hozen and a few pandaren looking at the Highbourne with cautious concern. She had spent a good portion of the last few days sitting and allowing the fellow Highbourne Liladrelia delve through her mind to try and assist her in getting over this, but the calming effect these gave where always temporary and she always returned to the morose and dark place she dwelled within.
“Why can I not get over her… Why is it that I cannot let her rest in peace. I loved and lost her to those apes… Why… Why is it that I cannot.”
Monori spoke softly to herself as she knelt and then sat down at the edge of the dock her long toned legs hanging over the side. Tears stung her eyes as she reached up and clutched the cold golden rings that hung about her neck. The cool metal felt hot in her hands as the tears stayed on her face as she looked into the cloudless sky. A soft creaking of wood made known the presence of another person, but Monori did not move as she knew who it was. Another elven figure approached and sat down beside her a calming yet calloused hand resting on top of Monori’s hands. The older elf with her eyes still covered sat there and spoke up as she set down a glass beside Monori.
“It’s the anniversary isn’t it Mono… I wish there was more that mother could do for you to ease your pain, but… I have not been the greatest of mothers to you. Losing you when I did and then when I found you we spent just enough time to get reacquainted and then I went right back to doing what I had been without a care in the world… I know I should have been there to comfort you that day, but I wasn’t. I let you go to Tsundre and find your solace.”
The older elf squeezed Monori’s hands lightly as she gave a reassuring smile toward her. It was the first of many steps that the older Highbourne had done to reconnect with her long estranged daughter. Monori was grateful for her mothers words and the encouraging touch and feeling she got from her. Sitting up slowly she took the steaming cup and took a drink of morning tea her mother brewed for herself. A smile crept on her face as she recognized the taste almost instantly as a plant native to Pandaria that she enjoyed and had given as a gift before Aura her sister was born.
“You made up the tea I had given you. You did not have to Gali.”
Galinessa just smiled at her daughter and waved her off as she sipped from her own steaming cup. The tea being slightly bitter compared to the usual cup she enjoyed each morning with Augustine while Aura slept. She turned her cloth covered head toward the water and then back to her daughter shortly after as she heard Monori huff.
“Something the matter Monori? I mean other than the obvious pain that still dwells in your heart?”
Monori shrugged as she closed her blue eyes. It was still obvious that the pain was the main source of all her discomfort with everyone except for Kargosa, Tsundre, and Lia. The constant distractions and constant fighting within herself to not break down all the time echoed loudly.
“Mother its… It is the fact that despite the loss of Dizzy I… I should be happy. As I am with Lady Kargosa. She makes me feel as If I am the only person in the entirety of Azeroth that matters to hjer despite her own obligations to the flight. I understand what she has to do…”
“But you do not know how long that you can go unrequited and without the comfort of her arms about you. She has been a constant presence in your life since before Dizzy passed away and she stayed there throughout all your stages of grief. I remember reading something that Augustine gave me before my eyes went the way they have that the final stage is the most difficult and takes the longest. Acceptance of the death. You are in that Monori as you have gone through all the stages til now. Now I see my girl hurt and wanting to find the reason behind the senseless act that was at its core mindless. You have come to some sort of realization of that and now you are trying to accept it… Yet you feel that if you do accept it she will be lost to you as everything she stood for would be gone as well. “
Galinessa spoke quietly yet confidently as she turned her leather armored self and looked at Monori. Her own motherly instincts taking over and internally she was surprised with herself for having the instincts finally emerge after all this time. Her hand moving and resting on Monori’s shoulder patting it lightly as she continued speaking.
“Monori. Nothing will ever take away the memories the two of you shared. Nothing can take away the love you shared so long as you allow her memory to live through you and through your actions. Which right now my dear daughter are… frantic and disorganized. You have allowed this despair you feel to cloud your mind and hold you stationary. Break free of this cloud and become who you are meant to be… It is just as when I was lost from Mistress Riven’s service. I drifted and wandered for so long never finding my way until I was nearly killed because of my stupidity. From then on I vowed to live for the both of us not knowing she was still alive. So I used my skills to show my actions. You need to do the same. Learn from what Dizzy showed you in your short time together. It is the only way you can grow and she can rest. Go and pay your respects Mono. Go and spent some time at their grave.”
Gali nessa spoke as she stood and she took the cups away as Monori had drank hers while Galinessa talked. Heading back off the docks she spoke one last time.
“Go alone. It may be hard but it’s the only way you will grow as a person. I love you Monori. Now go and spread those wings that Dizzy loved.”
With a smile on her face Galinessa vanished as quickly as she appeared the only noise was the wind blowing past Monori now. Her face had a slight smile upon it as she closed her eyes and then opened them. Raising her hands as she began to make the motions of a teleporting spell that Kargosa had taught her she spoke softly, but she was certain her mother could hear her.
“Thanks mom. I needed that a lot. Your good at this.”
Vanishing a few seconds later into a simple blue flash of light. Reappearing inside of the rebuilt home of hers her smile shook as she glanced around. Slowly walking upstairs she moved to the third floor and the small dedicated shrine to Dizzy. The smile widened as she knelt down before it as she reached for the picture of Dizzy. Running her hand on it she set it down lightly as she grabbed the bottle of the only drink the pair had ever shared and Dizzy showed just how great of a fighter she was while drunk. Taking a shot of it she drank it before carrying the bottle out of the room and to the memorial for Dizzy.
Approaching the grave she poured a second glass and set it on top of the grave. Moving she sat down beside it as she raised her glass to take another drink. As she finished off the second glass she felt the wind come and wrap around her swirling gently all about her as if arms where coming to wrap themselves about her. Her eyes closed as the scents of their old home came to her and she smiled speaking to herself.
“Heya Dizzy. Sorry that I had to go running off like that. I.. I have been alright. Been busy with learning how to use this magic I have within me. Yes I do still Mistress Kargosa… Though now she is more than just my mistress. I know I know… Me being the woman of the relationship is rather funny. Even I have to admit that things have been different in this year since you left me.”
The winds blew a little harder as she felt them swirl about her as if comforting her as Monori felt a tear roll on her cheek.
“I miss you. More than I even cared to admit. Sitting here with you and our child beside me… It makes me feel whole again. What.. Oh I am crying. Yea it seems that I am. It is still so hard to acknowledge that you will not be coming in that door and hugging me after working the fields all day. I miss that… I miss a lot of things.”
Her words fell silent as the wind died down and stopped swirling about her. The smile still there albeit with a few streaks of tears on her face covering herself with a slightly different aura than normal. Smiling as she stood she took the second full glass and set it before the small memorial headstone for Dizzy. Taking her hand she cleaned it with her fingertips before pulling back and grabbing the glass and pouring it out onto the headstone and grass before the stone.
“Next year Dizzy. I will tell you all about my adventures this year. Trust me I will celebrate enough for the both of us. I will live enough for the both of us.”
Corking the bottle she turned to head inside their home as the winds came back spinning itself around her in one final embrace as she stopped by the door to enjoy the feeling. Her hand holding onto the bottle barely as she trembled lightly as the wind passed her and she swore she heard Dizzy speaking her name once again.
“I love you to Dizzy… Same time next year alright. I will bring the alcohol for you to enjoy.”

The valleys of Shadowmoon filled the eyes of Monori. It had been little over two weeks since she had come out here and a week since she had met Leheena in Tanaan Jungle. Having made their escape back to the relative safety of Shadowmoon Valley and Embari Village. She was lucky that her new friend was someone who had lived in the village as a younger woman and had managed to have a small house that Monori could sleep within. Leaning against a doorframe that lead out to a patio is where Monori was gazing out at the verdant fields. The lands where such a stark contrast to what she had been told that the Valley looked on their home plane of Outland. There these verdant fields where blasted scorched fields of death with the Legion overrunning all that lived there. Even the elements within the earth there fought against all who appeared.
Well that was what Galinessa had told her daughter that the landscape looked like. As Monori still had never travelled there on her own. Closing the soft glowing eyes as the eerie morning glow of the Valley reminded her of the trip with her daughter to Darnassus. The leaves of that place made it seem perpetual night and something that she does not understand does the same thing for Shadowmoon. Though her daydreaming was cut off with a poke on her clothed shoulder. Turning to face the draenei behind her she smiled at her as Leheena handed her a small cup of tea to drink. “Enjoying the view of my home there Miss Feywhisper?”
Monori let out a light chuckle as she nodded in response. “I am enjoying the view. This is such a beautiful land. This reminds me a lot of my own home except that you do not have rolling fields of produce as far as the eye can see. I hope to see those lands again soon but there is something I have to do first.”
Monori lifted her shoulder and aimed her head back toward her pack. “I am not really here to fight in some war, or learn something new about myself. I am here as I lost someone a few years ago. Someone that I… cannot replace and I am bringing a piece of her home. After being here I can now understand why it is that she missed her home as she did.”
Monori gripped her cup a little tighter as she spoke of Dizzy. Time had healed most of this wound for Monori and yet she always wanted to keep even the slightest bit of it fresh as to not forget what was lost. A sight escaped her lips as she slumped her shoulders a little as Leheena walked over to the bag and opened up one of the pouch’s. Reaching inside she found a small crystal that had a golden ring that looked a lot like the type her people used on their tails around its center. Turning to look at Monori she spoke up. “This looks like a tail ring. A plain one but one that people of this village would wear. It looks familiar to me though. As these are all designed by the family and tend to be passed from mother to daughter as the daughter ages. I see that you wrote a name on here of Dizzy. I take it that was a nickname for her that you had?”
“Yes that was a nickname that we had as she would call me Mono and I would call her Dizzy. Her full name was Dizzentia… and she was my everything. We lived in a place called Pandaria which is my home. There it was a simple and happy life until I was gone one day taking care of something. As I approached my home I saw a pillar of smoke arising from what I thought was the fields nearby as our neighbors like to burn their refuse, but it was not that… Instead I found my home half collapsed and a fire where my work shop had been. A race of monkeys known as the Hozen where there dancing around the home celebrating what had happened. I lost it… I beat all of them to death with my bare hands with little remorse for what I was doing. As I stood there after killing them I found her half buried beneath the fallen roof.” Monori sniffed as she held back the tears from the memory of the day. Despite the time it still cut deep to talk about it. Reaching out her left hand she looked down into it as she began to speak back up.
“I held her… with this hand as I felt the life drain from her. As I heard her final words and we shared a final kiss. I had been too slow. I had been at fault if I had been there then there would have been a chance that she would still be alive to this day and we would be happy with one another… I.. I .. still failed her Leheena. I have tried to live my life in her memory but all I have done is waste the life I have had since that day. A piece of my life died that day.. It is never going to come back…” As she finished speaking Monori did not let out a cry, nor shed a tear as she just looked outside at the fields and trees in the distance. The gaze did not move even as she felt a hand touch her shoulder and give it a reassuring squeeze.
“Monori listen to me. You speak of things that happened in your past. Things that you cannot control anymore today than you could have the day that it happened. You lost the woman you love yes I can understand that pain just come with me. I have something to show you.” Leheena spoke softly as she walked past her and out onto the patio and toward another nearby by house. Monori blinked and set aside her cup as she followed Leheena along toward the home. Knocking on the door Leheena was standing there as another draenei opened the door and with a excited tone to her voice reached out hugging Leheena tightly. Monori heard them speaking in draenic for a short period of time before she was waved in and shown toward the back of the home.
Looking at the woman she swore that she looked just like Dizzy only older and more worn from the years. Going to the back of the home the woman walked away to continue what she was doing as Leheena walked beside Monori. Looking out the back of the home she saw three male draenei and one female draenei children playing in the yard. A slightly puzzled look was on her face as she heard Leheena speak up. “This is the home of one of my best friends. She and I go all the way back to Argus together but that is not why I brought you here. I recognized the insignia’s upon the ring that you had around the crystal. The parts that you only assumed where iconography was actually their familial line. I recognized my friends name and realized that wherever it is you came from is many years in our future and that her daughter was your lover…”
As she spoke Monori watched as the children were playing as she saw the much younger Dizzy running about with her brothers and playing just as if she was one of the guys. It was a story she remembered her telling her that her brothers and her would play like this at their home til they grew tired and their mother called them inside to eat. A slight smile crossed her face as she watched this. In a whisper like voice Monori spoke up. “Dizzy… She is alive and happy. This is something I never expected to see even when I came here. I was going to ask for the memorial crystal be placed at Karabor and the ring interred into the ground on the grounds. Though… I think I have a better idea for the ring now.”
Reaching down into her pocket she turned back into the home. Walking over to Dizzy’s mother the kaldorei cleared her throat. In a very rough draenic she began to speak to her. “Hello.. I am Monori a friend of your friend Leheena. I.. recently lost someone that I considered a good friend who happened to share a name with your daughter. She gave me this ring to remember her by and… I want you to have it to give to your daughter when she grows old enough to wear it. If she asks please just tell her that it mattered a lot to the previous owner and that it is an heirloom.”
Nodding the mother smiled at Monori as she took the ring from Monori’s hand and pulled it in front of her to begin to read it. A look of shock and surprise crossed her face as she moved her own tail around and looked at the identical ring on her own tail. As she did that Monori had already began to leave the home. Raising a hand to try and stop her but Monori ignored the woman’s plea as she walked away feeling the sting of tears roll from the corners of her eyes. “I hope that this Dizzy lives a very long and happy life. I hope that she can have that choice. For my own Dizzy would of wanted this as our daughter was going to have that ring someday to continue the tradition… It only feels right that I do this.”
She spoke to herself as she walked away all the while Leheena stood there beside her friend. Leheena smiled as she gave her friend a hug and explained what it was the ring meant to Monori and whatnot. After about twenty minutes Monori found herself sitting on a small outcropping of stone in the middle of the fields just outside the city. Watching the Elekk’s frolic and move around the plains surrounding her she did not notice Leheena approach her from behind nor did she expect the hug that came from the draenic shaman. Letting out a little whimper and sniff before she turned her head to the side and looked at Leheena. “You left her speechless Monori. Especially since yours matched hers perfectly other than age and some damage from over the years. She gave me something to give you.”
Releasing the reassuring hug from Monori Leheena moved and reached into her pocket pulling a small plain ring from her pocket. “She said to close your eyes and hold the ring in your hand and the Naaru will listen to you and will shape and mold the ring with whatever names you wish to have engraved upon it. I do not know why she would give you one of these rings but it is usually given to those who are part of the family in order to ingrain themselves into the family. It is an honor.”
Monori raised an eyebrow at Leheena as she grabbed a hold of the ring and clasped it between her two hands. Her thoughts becoming focused as she thought of Dizzy and their unborn child who had died with Dizzy. Then her thoughts went to Kargosa the dragoness who had been there for her through the worst of the pain of Dizzy’s death. Lastly her own thoughts went to Tsundre and the daughter that they now had. As she thought about them all the ring began to twist and shape itself into something truly unique shaped. Pulling her hands apart she looked down at the ring which had changed itself completely from the simple band into an intricately crafted piece. In the center was a simple open space where she saw Dizzy and Tsundre’s names carved into it beside the symbol for child. On the main part of the band was a spiraling dragon whose scales shown with a sapphire like quality to them. “What did.. how did…”
Stammering out as she looked at the ring as she felt tears well up. From beside her Leheena smiled at her and chimed up. “It is because the ring is a one time use magical thing. It is created by a master enchanter and master jewelcrafter so that a person can imprint their life into the ring to create a unique ring that is for you and for your family to cherish. You are a lucky woman as I have not seen too many of those and to have it gifted to you is an honor.”
Monori smiled as she reached up and undid the chain about her neck. Running the chain through the ring she let it fall down into the collection of the other three rings about her neck. Letting out a sigh she felt a calm come over her as she turned to see Karabor just off in the distance and knew where she would have to go tomorrow. She would travel to Karabor and would say goodbye one final time to Dizzy.

Never got past level 30-something on a blood mage in WoW but some really good descriptive work there. I love writing medieval, especially medieval fantasy. *points to his gravity simulations and ahems* There is so much to explore with the craft, the direction, and the scenery with a medieval setting.

Omg this is beautifully written, yes, it does have a tasye of darkness, and despair. It is tastefully done though, I was captivated from the first paragraph. Well done! I played WOW for a while but never got past lvl 20 I got my mount and got tired of paying to play.
