It was a calm, quiet night. The sky was cloudless, allowing the moon and stars to shine down on the facility. It wasn't a large military instalation, more of an outpost, but its current location made it a rather vital spot. Situated on a large cliff, it had a clear view of the surrounding area for several miles. Any approaching military force would be spotted long before they arrived.
Still, despite being in such a rather valuable position, the guard on duty didn't seem to be in too tense a mood. After all, the last few days had been rather quiet. Still, they didn't get their position for being lazy. Weapons at the ready, they patrolled their routes, eyes peeled for any sign of activite. Anything that came over that horizen they were ready for.
Unfortunately for them, they didn't look up.
Several miles above them, a lone figure watched, almost like he was standing on air. Due to his size and distance, he was rather easy to overlook. Even his white coat could almost make him appear like a star in the dark sky. Thankfully, being an android, Cipher 24 didn't need to breath, so the lack of oxygen from the altitude didn't bother him as he studied the facility below. After a moment of silent, he reached for the radio clipped to his collar.
"Cipher 24 to home base," he spoke, his voice soft and devoid of emotion, "I'm at the target site."
"This is home base, reading you loud and clear." the radio crackled.
"I'm picking up several guards, about eighteen in total. The outposts artillary guns are also online. My presence has not been detected."
"Good work. Remember, we want to take the facility intact. Try to avoid destroying the equipment if possible."
"Understood. Proceeding with mission objectives."
Turning off the radio, he looked down, his gaze fixing on one of the guards on patrol. Silently, he extended both his hands towards him, an orb of pale, green energy forming in his palms.
"Pale Lance," came the soft words before the thin beam of energy fired. The guard below wouldn't see it coming. He'd only feel the sharp burning as the beam pierced his body before death took him. Thankfully, this technique didn't explode on impact, so there was no chance of an explosion damaging any nearby equipment. However, with that one attack, the element of surprise was spent. Cipher couldn't waste time.
He began a complete, verticle drop as gunshots rang out from below. Bullets wizzed past him, vearing off target due to the window and difficulty of sight. Cipher fixed his gaze on another of the soldiers below, diving straight towards him. The soldier barely got time to cry out before the android crashed into him, the sound of his bones snapping as he was crushed against the stone floor. Cipher didn't wait to see if the soldier was truly dead, all he knew was that he wasn't getting back up, and there were still sixteen more soldiers to go.
An alarm began to blare as more soldiers began flooding out, weapons ready. Cipher moved like a snake, dashing from one soldier to the next. Though they were skilled combatants, they were only human, and Cipher's strength alone made dispatching them a simple matter. He refrained from firing any more ki blasts, only firing them off when he was certain that they wouldn't damage any of the surroundings. Thanks to him being on the outpost grounds, the main guns were useless. That made any threat to the equipment, ironically enough, Cipher himself.
Dispatching eight more with sharp blows and another Pale Lance, Cipher rushed into the building, leaping to the side when a hail of bullets nearly tore into him. He counted seven soldiers, hiding behind tables and consoles, their weapons trained on the entrance. Even with his durability, Cipher new that simply charging in would do serious damage to himself. Glancing around as safely as he could, he spied a window on the side of the room. He slipped away from the door as quietly as he could, rushing around to the window, dispatching another guard along the way.
Peering through the window, he could see the soldiers still trained on the door, waiting for him to come through. They didn't even suspect he was watching from the other side. Spying one whom he believed was the commander, he extended his hands towards them.
"Pale Lance."
The beam sliced through the commander and into the floor harmlessly. The surprise attack shocked the other guards as Cipher lept in. As bullets flew, the android shot from one to the other, felling them with super strengthened blows. It wasn't long before the last of them hit the floor, his neck bent at an odd angle.
As the dust settled, Cipher looked around the room. The walls and cieling were riddled with bullet holes due to missed shots, and he could see one of the consoles was damaged as well. The android let out a small sigh. It had almost been perfect too. But, at least he wasn't the cause of it, and the scientists could repair it.
Taking one last look around, he tapped his radio.
"Cipher 24 to home base, reporting."
"Home base to Cipher 24, reading you loud and clear."
"All hostiles have been nuetralized. Only minor damage to computer systems."
"Impressive. From your last transmission, it seems it only took you fifteen minutes to complete the objective. Very well done."
"Thank you sir," Cipher couldn't help but feel a little bit of pride within his otherwise cool heart, "Awaiting further instructions."
"Just sit tight. We'll get the men over to secure the area and someone to repair the damages. You just keep the area under control until we get there."
"Understood, Cipher 24 out."
As silence fell on the room, the android walked quietly over to a turned over table. Righting it back up, he sat down, crossing his legs in total silence. It would take a little bit before the team would arrive. Still, it's not like he had anything to do.
