Things had always worked differently for Klaw. Ever since he was a child, he'd remember people acting differently around him, or treating him specially; not that this had bothered Klaw. He had actually grown quite used to people giving him odd looks and quiet nods as he walked with his family through Satan City. One of the few memories he had of his parents was that of his father spanking him for attempting to run through the marketplaces.
Thinking about it, Klaw realized how little he remembered of his parents; just walking through a marketplace and seeing them dead in their home. He wouldn't even be able to tell you what his mother looked like if you had asked him. The one person who he remembers vividly is the man who killed his parents; the man he considers his true father. A rather large, bald man, sporting a goatee and a mean look. Klaw could still remember the look in his eyes as he broke them; pleasure. It wasn't poetic, it wasn't beautiful, like you see in the movies. The man sported nothing but the pleasure of beating an adversary and taking that which meant most to him; a trait that stuck with Klaw, ever since that night.
It was that night, after Klaw woke up with no memory of who he was, or about his past, that he knew what he was.
A killer.
A murderer.
A hunter.
And that's when he decided that that's what he would do with his life; hunt. He was no gatherer, nor was he a peace-keeper. He was out for blood, for the glory that comes with battle. He was after the same pleasure that the man who Klaw now refers to as "Forebear" felt when he took the lives of his parents. Klaw wanted that; he needed it. He wasn't sure what, but something in his blood made him want that. The glory of battle, of vengeance; to kill a brother or father, and watch as his young weep. This is the direction Klaw's life was in, and he took it in full colour, totally aware that he would see men, women and children weep as he took the lives of their loved ones.
And with that, Klaw is seen standing on top of a rock formation in Diablo Desert. He had been hired by a man who preferred to be called "The Chain Master" to kill a certain target. A young woman by the name of Jess Capsu. She was often seen wandering the desert, training in martial arts. The client gave no reason for wanting her dead, but that didn't matter to Klaw; all that mattered to him was getting the job done. It was quite a shame that there wasn't any one else here to witness her death; that was what Klaw truly relished in.
With that thought, Klaw saw her; young and beautiful with the energy of a tigress, Jess kicked right through one of the many boulders seen in the desert, before collapsing onto the ground, exhausted. He could hear her laughing, obviously proud of herself.
'Humans.' Klaw thought to himself, disapprovingly. 'We're such an arrogant race.' And with that thought, Klaw flew off towards her.
Jess lied there sleepily as Klaw walked towards her. She was totally unaware; the perfect prey.
"Hello, my dear." he said, his deep, rasping voice emulating that of a snake. Jess sat up and looked at him, confused.
"Who are-" she managed before getting cut off.
"Shush, deary. What's more important than me... is you. You're Jess Capsu, yes?" Jess stared at the man. Klaw noticed a lack of fear in her eyes; instead, he saw confusion and acceptance. "You don't have to answer. I know you are."
She stood, wiping the dust and dirt off her, and eyed Klaw. "... What do you want with me?"
"I believe you know, love." Klaw said, a handsome smile resting on his face.
Jess, with no response, entered a battle stance, ready for whatever Klaw might throw at her. This pleased Klaw. Most of his prey ran; it would be a nice change for one to fight, even if they had a lower-level than he.
With that thought, Klaw looked up and saw Jess throw a punch at him, a fist suddenly in his face; Klaw stepped to the right, caught Jess' fist and threw her straight into the ground. Jess hit the ground, the air projecting from her lungs, and a loud cry of pain escaped her throat. Klaw then stepped on her chest, charging one of his infamous "Prey's Prayer" in her face. Just before he could release the charge, he felt a strong kick in the ribs. It sent him several feet away from Jess, and near the edge of a cliff.
Standing, Klaw began to laugh. "I see you've got some fight." Wiping dirt off of his side, "I don't know how you managed to kick me, but it won't happen-" Klaw looked up. And what he saw, he almost couldn't believe.
The one who had kicked him was him. The man who had killed his parents and beaten him many years ago; the man who sent Klaw on the path he's on now; the Forebear.
The Forebear smiled. “Whats-a-matter?” he said, a smug, ugly curl on his lips, “Never see an android before?”
Klaw stayed silent, his mind too scrambled to think. ‘What could he be doing here?’ Klaw thought. ‘Was he looking for me?’
Forebear stepped forward, in between Jess and Klaw. “My name is Rexicon Twenty-Five.” he said giving a hardy laugh. “But my name doesn’t matter.” His voice took a raspy beat, almost as if he were imitating Klaw. “What’s more important than me… is you.”
This shook Klaw. The man- or android so it seemed- didn’t recognize him at all. Forebear pulled Klaw back into reality.
“Well, freak show?!” he yelled, his voice suddenly booming and angry. “Who are you, and why are you attacking my daughter?!”
Klaw’s eyes widened. She was his… Daughter?! He couldn’t believe it.
“How…” he started, “How can you have a daughter? You’re just an android!” This revoked a laugh from the Forebear.
“Well,” he began, “I’m not sure myself. You see, I was drafted by the Red Ribbon Army at the ripe young age of sixteen.” He looked up at Klaw, an anger in his voice. “I was there for years; the torture, the suppression that the army forced upon us. I couldn’t take it; and so I ran.” The Forebear took a battle stance. “My punishment was having myself being remade into an android so I could never disobey my masters again. But I was put into a chronic sleep, and I wasn’t awoken until a young family accidentally woke me and the other androids from our sleep when they entered our chamber.” He gripped his hands together. “I still remember watching the massacre happen. For whatever reason, I was the only one who understood what was happening; the murder and hatred was so unnecessary. I couldn’t save her parents, but I could save her. And so I did.”
He charged a blast and directed it right at Klaw. “And now…” he said, throwing the blast at Klaw, “NO ONE CAN HURT HER!”
It was so fast, Klaw didn’t even see it coming; the blast was directly shot at him, and hit him right in ribs, sending Klaw over the edge of the cliff. The Forebear flew down after him. As he stepped to Klaw, he heard a rather emphatic shout as Klaw jumped up and began to beat into his stomach. The Forebear froze, not expecting this flurry of attacks from Klaw. Just as the Forebear was planning his defensive strategy, he saw Klaw’s right hand, red with ki, go full force into his jaw, sending him straight into a nearby rock formation.
Klaw began to dust himself off. “Nothing I can’t hand-”
Cut off from a strong right hook to his chin, Klaw was sent spiraling to the ground, before being chucked back up into the air. He heard the Forebear shout “Saturday…”
With just enough time, Klaw jumped over a few feet, barely avoiding the Forebear’s Saturday Crush. However, Klaw sensed an energy behind him, and when he turned, he saw the Forebear. The Forebear clubs Klaw in the back before hammering him straight into the ground.
Klaw jumps back onto his feet just in time to catch The Forebear as he tries to stomp Klaw. Klaw grabs the Forebear by the legs and spins him around before throwing him into a boulder. The Forebear gripes loudly before spinning around and throwing a charged energy blast at Klaw, who deflects it.
“Is that the best you’ve got?!” Klaw demands.
The Forebear stands. Obviously in pain and out of energy, he begins to laugh. Klaw steps back, shocked.
“Do you really think you can beat me, boy?” the Forebear moaned in a quiet mechanical hum, “I can’t be beaten. My body regenerates faster than a Namekians! I’m stronger than a Saiyan! And I’ve got better fighting ability than you!”
Klaw felt something he hadn’t felt in a long time; an anger in him that brewed from his core. This man- no, this machine- had the audacity to step up and challenge him. Klaw set his feet in place, and placed his hands in the shape of a diamond. The Forebear laughed.
“What’s this?” he said, smirking, “You’re going to try something else?”
Klaw began charging his energy. He wasn’t going to let this prey escape.
The Forebear saw what was happening, and began to laugh. “So we’re playing like this, eh? So be it.” The Forebear began charging an orb in his hands. “Saturday…”
Klaw felt it. This was going to be the moment.
“CRUSH!” the Forebear shouted as he released his attack straight at Klaw.
“Now!” Klaw shouted, releasing his attack at the Forebear. The two blasts met each other in the center of the two, and both Klaw and the Forebear pushed with all they had. Klaw roared with an energy that the Forebear had never seen before. “Say your prayers, prey!” he shouted, pushing his blast right into the Forebear.
The dust cleared, and the desert was now a wasteland; the energy that had collided destroyed much of the surrounding area. The Forebear rose his head and saw Klaw stepping on the chest of Jess Capsu. Klaw wanted this more than ever, now. He wanted to take her life, to make her suffer on account of the Forebear. And as the Forebear went to move to Klaw, he realized that he couldn’t. He was out of energy, and it would be hours before he would have enough to do anything about this situation.
Klaw looked over to him, and smiled a devilish, handsome smile.
“Do you remember me?” he asked in a raspy voice, “Do you remember my parents?”
The Forebear looked confused and hurt.
“No. You don’t.” Klaw said, disappointed. “What a shame. That would have made this even better.” He began to charge his attack.
The Forebear began to panic, willing to do anything to save his daughter. “Wait!” he shouted, obvious tenderness in his voice, “Take me! I’m the one that did whatever to your parents!”
This thought angered Klaw. This man not only cost Klaw his parents, but his memories of his life, and his way of life. And this man, his Forebear, had the audacity to claim their murder without memory of it.
“ ‘... whatever to your parents?!?’ No, Rexicon, you lost that right; you can’t claim their deaths, their pain without their memory.” Klaw charged his blast even more. “But I’ll claim this one.” he said pointing the charge directly at Jess’ face.
The world was silent, with only the drummed out shouts from the Forebear sounding off in Klaw’s ears. In one blink, it was over. In one blink, she was dead. In one blink… Klaw was free. He turned and looked at the Forebear. This man who his livelihood relied upon, relished on… Was reduced to a mere puddle of tears and anger. He was nothing.
And this made Klaw… Sad.
Klaw stepped away, as the Forebear shouted everything from obscenities to apologies. Klaw was done here.
He pulled out his communicator and send a message to the chain master.
“It’s done. Forward the money.”
