After so many long years it was finally over... Nicolas, despite his numerous hardships and setbacks: had managed to graduate from college. While this occasion almost seemed trivial after all of the momentous things he had managed to accomplish as a hero it still felt like he had just finished going toe to toe with Realigner Red when he took his degree in hand for the first time. After the ceremony: his family and friends swept him up in a whirlwind to spend all the daylight hours celebrating. It was tons of fun to see everyone that came from Sea Salt town to congratulate him but now as he looked upon the glittering skyline from the top of his apartment he was left to his own quiet introspection. He was so incredibly happy with his life at the moment. The love of his life had managed to come back to him, he was being paid top dollar to fight alongside Vi Poi and the other heroes of Earth, and he was inspiring more and more people to not only stop planning petty crimes but to do the right by others instead. It was honestly a great feeling, but... As he looked out to the lights and the stars that painted the otherwise blackened sky he couldn't help but wonder... Could this last? Despite all of his growth he was only human. Day by day, young heroes inspired by him were not only rising to be heroes in their own right but some were surpassing him outright. Looking to the future, Nicolas wasn't sure if he could keep up if he wanted any sort of normalcy in between. Could he have a future while keeping the mask? Could he really give it up? Wait- Why was he worrying about that now of all times?! Nicolas swallowed audibly as the anxiety of his 'Captain Nova' life passed and was replaced with different anxiety as he remembered just why he was there. "..." This was going to be the toughest and scariest thing he's ever done, yet all he could do was wait. Everything was about to change.

The rumble of the air bike Zerori rode was comforting sensation as she turned an intersection with typical reckless abandon. The wind rushing through her hair was as liberating as the first breath she’d taken since coming back to life so many months ago. Bearing only goggles to protect her sight, Zerori haphazardly swayed and swiveled through the night traffic as many made to go home to their own families. The Saiyan, for all her bravado and pretension, had one to call her own family now and the feeling was…
Indescribable.
With a grin, she looked farther in the distance to the apartment complex she had frequented so often. Since her returning to the living realm, and to the Earth, Zerori didn’t hesitate to express her gratitude in a myriad of ways to the super hero she’d become smitten with. More so, than that she’d promised to herself that she wasn’t going to look to her own pain for validation, which left an important change between them: Talking. They hadn’t quite covered everything yet and there quite a few things Zerori made clear were her ‘priorities’, but as time passed and they became more comfortable – things had just…. Fallen into place?
At the forefront of her career, Zerori had… stepped back from the underground light (not completely, of course) to explore more open occupations that didn’t conflict with being romantically inclined with a super hero. There were plenty of aspects in their lives to liven the relationship up, but nothing quite made it burn hotter than a good game of ‘cops and robbers’ now and then. As they say, all things in moderation.
So what better occupation did she have that suited her then, well… being a cop. That story was for another time, however…
Upon reaching the apartment complexes, she turned off her siren lights and stretched over the machine before reducing it back to it’s capsule. She’d gotten a handful of steps before a soft sound caught her attention and she held the cycle jacket against her chest with a soft smile, “Shhh, not yet,” She cooed gently, gently patting it before continuing inside and making her way to the top floor. This was a pretty special occasion and if Zerori knew anything about Nicolas – it was that he was equally obsessed with his name sake.
With the briskest of runs, keeping a close eye on a certain gift, Zerori reached the rooftop doors and opened them with all the confidence of a resident. For all intents and purposes – she was! She looked around, catching sight of the man of the hour before she expressed a fanged half-smile. He was lamenting, as usual, but the mystery remained – what was on his mind now? Taking her chance, she gently tip-toed towards him, keeping out of his line-of-sight, before coming right up behind him to blow very warm air against his ear, ”Nicolas,” She expelled with a whisper.
With his response next, Zerori would chuckle with rare warm-heartedness before she tilted her head with fists displaced cockily upon her hips, “Got out of the station early. Something about… not much work? What am I gonna do, if there ain’t crime, Nova?” She joked with a debonair execution.

As Nicolas looked out to the starlit city he hadn't even registered that the person he had been waiting for had managed to sneak up behind him. It wasn't until he felt her hot breath on his neck that he'd shoot up to a stand with a jolt. Zerori would be able to physically see his face go from quiet and contemplating to his usual goofy flush. If she looked closely she might even be able to catch his glasses steaming up. He blinked a few times, registering what she said before leaning forward with an almost accusatory point. "Early huh? Seems like you already missed all the festivities!" He managed to say, cracking a soft grin before placing a kiss on her lips. "I'm glad you came a bit late though, my family was grilling me about my super cop girlfriend too much as it was." He snickered, moving to wrap his arms around Zerori's waist to keep her close.
"As for what you can do with a day off I can think of a lot of things." He pulled away (albiet reluctantly) as he reached down to a nearby cooler to produce a pair of expensive looking glasses as well as a chilled bottle of champagne. "I was thinking we could enjoy the night a bit...Just the two of us." He smiled, his heart already pounding as he offered her an empty glass only to fill it seconds later.
"Even if it is just another night in the city...I can almost feel something magical about it. Everything...Well, everything just kinda feels right. Y'know?" He asked, looking aside to the woman as he filled his own glass. His smile grew into a broad grin as he held the crystal up, looking briefly to the bubbling alcohol within before taking a soft sip. "Perfect night to talk I guess." He kinda muttered with a quick look aside as as his flush grew into an even more vibrant shade of red.
"I-I've been...Been doing a lot of thinking Zerori... About us...About the future..."

She relented with a sly smile as they kissed, gently bringing her arms across his shoulders to enjoy the embrace for a few seconds longer. As they parted, her blue eyes peered into his own as he spoke about her lack of appearance to his graduation. Sheepishly, her smile faltered – she… had regretted not being there. Early for her was late for the graduation, but- maybe she could make up for it. It was a master plan!
As they parted for Nic to produce the most crystalline pair of glasses she’d seen. Carefully, she took one in hand between her index and thumb and sat down at a lawn chair to the side. By the vibrations in her jacket, she had borrowed time before her gift might reveal itself. One poured glass, a knowing smirk, and sip later and Zerori leaned back to sour the drink and listen with learned patience. Talking? Zerori felt an almost-familiar pierce of ice cold through her chest before she quickly quelled it with a confident nod, “Talking sounds good,” She granted with the ease of a knowing leader.
The mention of a future made her let out a sigh of relief. This. This was what she was secretly waiting for! A beautiful night, champagne, and on the eve of a celebration – this was finally happening!
Her heart beating within her chest, Zerori’s felt as thought she was about to choke before she swallowed harshly and tossed out a joke in the wake of her sudden lack of shyness, “This would be a bad time to break up with me, Nicolas.” After a moment, just in case he took her seriously, she would raise an eye brow and welcome any realization of her humor. She continued with a laugh, crossing her legs at the knee, “I’m sorry, it’s- Heh, this is new to me! Trust me,” She reached for his hand, finishing with a glint in her eye, “Something tells me you’ve got… a different kind of surprise for me. So, uh,” She cleared her throat expectantly, “You first.”

Nicolas flushed, his entire body tensing as Zerori seemed almost...Timid? Excited? Damn, was he that transparent? Still it didn't matter... It just gave him the courage to continue as she stared upon him so intently. He smiled, those forest green hues flickering in the starlight as he took the hand of the woman he loved. It felt electric as it always did. He couldn't help but realize that just being close to her made him feel alive. It was in that moment he knew, despite all of his worries for what was going to come, he'd make at least one right choice by facing the future with her at his side. "Zerori..." He breathed out, just taking a moment to further collect his courage. "Now that...Well, I graduated and so an all new chapter is opening up for me. Things are gonna get pretty crazy from here on out..." He closed his eyes as he smiled. "Things...Well, things need to change. I'm thinking the world has enough heroes to protect it. I'm thinking that I'm not gonna need the mask to have the strength to be the man I want to be. I'm not afraid to be me anymore." A few tears of nervousness and joy beading at the corner of his eyes as he grinned from ear to ear. "S-so yeah, it's kinda scary... Though, no matter what happens, no matter what I end up deciding to do with my future...I wan't you to be there with me." With that, he'd let go of her hand...Only to fall to a knee.
"Zerori, would you be my guiding starlight? The constant in the storm that is my life?" He asked, before pulling out a small black box, opening it to reveal a diamond ring. One he had picked out specifically for her.
"Zerori...Would you marry me?"

Heart pounding like a drum during an ancient ceremony, it was with great anxiety that Zerori awaited Nicolas’s moment. As much as her heart spoiled what this would mean for herself, she would be damned before taking this away from Nicolas. Was she ready? Could she find a life of forever with the suited super hero? Asked years before, obsessed with the resurrection of Ari and the commitment to her work as a mercenary, she would have scoffed and likely dismissed any thought…
Before her first mistake of taking her last mission, allied with Zucceta and rewarded a forbidden fruit for success.
Before she’d made the second mistake of confronting the rumor of Bing, transformed into an evil form.
Before she’d lost her life to that very man, once mentor and guiding hand to her unknown prophetic demon blood.
Before she spent an unknown amount of time, possibly years, trapped in the underworld.
Now, months later and still in healing after her purgatory of Hell and vow to bring a better… change to the world she came to love, Zerori held no hesitation or doubt when the question came to the forefront of her mind. She was ready as she’d ever be and nothing – nothing would take this away from her.
She listened to his preamble, shocked by his declaration to leave the world to the heroes of today, What are you doing? She thought with confusion just before he took to a knee. She’d seen plenty of humans do this on this planet, but… to have it happen to her?! Even as he pulled out the ring and presented it to her, a poetic jumble of words that she could hardly pay attention to as her blood surged through her ears, Zerori was at a loss of what to say as she sat in the chair.
Then, just before she felt her energy nearly surge into a transformation of white hair and ruby red eyes, a soft keen from between her breasts could be heard. With the moment halted, her panic subsiding in remembrance of her gift, Zerori laughed harshly before she reached towards her jacket and began unzipping it.
Before an assumption could be made, a small black kitten with a simple splotch of white upon it’s chest, peeked out from the hardy cycle jacket and gave a high pitched ‘meeeeeew!’ when it laid eyes upon the shaggy haired Nicolas. Grinning wildly, Zerori knelt down to present the kitten before she responded, “If you’ll accept my gift, Proud Graduate… Yes,” She grinned widely with all fangs, “Hell YES!” And tossed aside her inhibitions to embrace him with mirthful laughter – taking great care of the kitten as well! As she made to kiss him, all passion and promise, she would whisper between kissess, "My Makyo Star..."
