Edge VS Edge. Which one is sharper? There is only one way to find out. Capper smirked at his little internal joke with a chuckle. Nonetheless, he'd usher two combatants to the ring. "In the Middle League, we've got Gira against Pin in Arena Two, Round One!"
ROUND ONE of the Minor League's Multiversal Tournament has begun! Player Versus Player Matches have a set 48 hour timer for posts. Failing to post in time will result in disqualification. The dark Gira stood in the center of the ring, a smirk plastered on her face as she awaited the appearance of her opponent. He was Pin, from what she heard. While the terror had never heard of him before, she figured he would at least provide a decent enough challenge. She hoped at any rate. It would be a real shame if the first round ended with her crushing her opponent beneath her boot like he was nothing. Barely flexing, Universe 17's Gira erupted in a golden aura, her hair spiking wildly and taking on the same color as she ascended to her Super Saiyan form. She would try to crush Pin immediately. If he truly was a worthy opponent, he would be capable of fending her off in this form. While Gira tried her best to hide it, she felt a sense of excitement she had not felt in a long time. It was exhilarating. At long last, she would meet her match. If it was not Pin, it would be someone else. She didn't intend to go down in the first round, however. Even if Pin was her equal, he would not defeat her. No. She was the predetermined victor. The second they were paired together, Pin's elimination from this tournament was assured. The dark Saiyan could only hope that he would provide an amusing distraction in the meantime. Stretching both of her arms out to her sides, she would call for her opponent. "Come forth, and face your death!" Gira called out with a sinister grin.

Pin stepped out into the Arena, his helmet held in his left hand while he casually twirled his pistol in his right. It had been some time since he’d fought someone for no other reason than just to fight, though even now he had to admit that it was more than just the fight he was after. The prize - the wish - that was his goal. The one thing he’d wanted from the very beginning could finally be his, and he could finally face his mother on truly even ground before reducing her to a fine pink mist. After this tournament, he’d no longer be anyone’s doll. Not his mothers, not the Queen’s, not the Empire’s. Before him stood a unique-looking opponent, clearly of at least partial Saiyan descent, with dark hair and impossibly fair skin. He could tell that she took herself far too seriously, and she immediately transformed into the Super Saiyan state - she had some measure of control, he had to give her that. Still, to lead with your strongest hand, even here, was a mistake. Now Pin had a better idea of what she was capable of before the fight even began. She called out to him, apparently not having noticed his arrival. He was going to miss being so difficult to detect once he was named the victor of this tournament. But sacrifices would have to be made in the end. “ You’ll have to tell death I’ll call her back,” He called out, putting his helmet on, “ Someone seems to have left a flaming pile of dog waste on my doorstep.” He dashed to his left, raising his pistol and firing a volley of basic shots - nothing fancy, just a toe in the water to test the temperature. How she dealt with even weak ranged attacks would give him an idea of her general combat style. ___________________________________________ PL 250,000 KP 3/3 Basic ki shots fired! [U17] Gira

Gira turned to face her opponent as he spoke. He had entirely escaped her notice before, it seemed. An android? More than likely. Unless he was suppressing his power for some strange reason. Though what would really be the point? Besides that, she liked his before battle banter. He compared her to dog shit, though. Unfortunately, she would have to punish him for that little transgression. The banter would end there, however. They did have a battle to get to, after all. Gira smirked when Pin threw out a few basic ki blasts. This was the true introduction to her opponent, getting to taste his power for the first time. The smirk widened when she thought of what to do in that instant. One good turn deserves another. Holding one palm out towards the barrage, Gira counted all of them in milliseconds. A millisecond after, she fired a few basic shots of her own, one for each blast that Pin sent her way. The bundles of ki collided in mid-air, generating several small explosions. The smoke obscured the immediate area, which was precisely what Gira wanted. In an instant, she moved to Pin's position right above him, the plume being cleaved in twain as the dark hybrid moved through it. As she zoomed through the air above him, the hybrid threw down both of her hands, palms aimed at the android. With that, she threw out a volley of her own, peppering the area Pin was in with golden blasts of ki as she passed overhead. Once she landed on the ground behind him, Gira dashed forward towards his back, dropping low and attempting a sweeping kick at his legs, following up by lashing out with her other leg at the end of the kick, hopefully catching Pin in the stomach. Pin smiled beneath his helmet. She’d countered his blaster fire handily, which really was no surprise. Still, knowing that she was so savvy when faced with basic small-arms fire told him she was apt with ranged combat. He’d keep that in mind. But what brought that smile to his face was the smokescreen she raised. Had it been intentional? If so, Pin saw his advantage clear as day - she really had no idea how Androids functioned. Smoke could only be his ally, as it would mask his position and she’d be unable to sense his presence otherwise. Meanwhile, he still had his built-in scouter and, failing that, his helmet’s wide array of sensory equipment. Her movement to the area above him was fast, but not so fast that he didn’t see it coming. He’d been brought up under the tutelage of the likes of Queen Habana, after all - he was used to watching his opponents closely. He dove forward into the smoke, her energy blasts hitting the arena floor harmlessly. She landed before he could make it any deeper into the smoke, which would only get thinner with time, and threw a kick for his legs, clearly hoping to knock him from his feet. He considered his options. He could hop her kick, take to the air and regain his distance. He could just stand his ground and see if his metal body could tank her kick. He went with a third option - deception. He let himself fall over her sweeping kick, his acquiescence robbing the attack of any real impact, but as he started to fall he instead deployed his left-side Aranea module arms, which planted themselves firmly on the Arena floor and halted his descent. When Gira launched her second kick, aimed at his midsection, he deployed his right-side Aranea arms, which caught her leg mid-strike and wrapped around it like a pair of hungry constrictor snakes. “ I see you’ve been training against stationary targets. Good for technique. Bad for strategy.” Pin thrust his free hand forward and splayed out his fingers. From his palm spewed forth a gout of white-hot fire, which Pin aimed directly towards Gira’s face. Even if she managed to avoid taking a bunch of burning ki fire to the eyes, his Burning Vengeance would create more smoke to further fill the arena and help him keep Gira on her toes. _______________________________________ Pin has used Burning Vengeance: [N1] Burning Vengeance: Pin doesn’t rely solely on his equipment to get the job done. Gira growled as her assault was met with minimal effectiveness. She didn't have much experience fighting androids, which gave Pin a slight advantage. If Gira had one thing going for her, though, it was her ability to adapt. Still, she was caught by surprise when Pin deployed an extra pair of arms to not only catch himself before he hit the ground, but to also catch the hybrid's leg as she went for a second kick. "Don't assume you know how i've trained, machine. Assumptions like that indicate arrogance. Better drop it soon, or it'll be your downfall!" Then, Pin unleashed a gout of flame from his outstretched palm. It wasn't too surprising. Gira was expecting Pin to attack her while she was caught. Thankfully, she had an effective counter up her sleeve for that. As the flame began closing the very short distance between Pin and Gira, the latter took a quick inhale. A split second after, a scream of rage and hate filled the ring. It was deafening and far-reaching, even affecting those in the stands. This wasn't just a scream that was meant to deafen, however. If one looked closer, it seemed to generate a shockwave that was pushing back against the flames. It would continue to push against Pin's attack, the smoke in the immediate area around them being pushed outwards until at last, the two attacks fizzled each other out. "Now, let's take a little trip!" Gira would then fly upwards, hopefully taking Pin straight up into the air with her. Even if he decided to let go, however, she still had a plan. Whether she had to move towards him into the smokescreen or he was right there attached to her leg, Gira would let out an intense battle cry before moving to his last known position, attempting to strike him right in the chest with a powerful kick. Her assault wouldn't end there, however. Gira would follow up her kick with a flurry of punches and kicks, moving to Pin's left or right flanks randomly if able during the combo in an attempt to confuse the android, or at least keep him guessing. "You might think you are my opponent, but you could not be more wrong. You are simply a stepping stone to greater power. You will make me stronger! That is your only purpose!" The dark hybrid called out to Pin as she kept up her assault. Whether or not she meant this, no one but her knew. But its main purpose was to make Pin angry. Hopefully causing him to show Gira more of his tricks, perhaps even fizzle himself out early and make him susceptible to a coup de grace.

What was it with Saiyans and screaming? As Gira howled with rage with such intensity that it actually beat back his flames, Pin grit his teeth. Of course she was going to put up a fight. He should have seen that coming. Still, he was glad to be wearing his helmet, as he really didn’t want to deal with his ears ringing by the time she was done throwing her verbal tantrum. He’d hoped she would try to beat away his tentacle arms or something equally ineffective. Still, all she’d done was stall and blow away some of the smoke he’d been hoping to build. No major problem. She took to the sky, clearly trying to bring Pin upwards along with her. He could see no advantage to going up with her, so he quickly unwound his extra limbs from her leg and set himself safely down on the Arena floor. He looked up and took a few basic blaster shots - all of which went wildly off target on purpose - as she ascended. When she came rocketing back at him again with a kick aimed to his chest, he was ready. It was no great ordeal to sidestep her attack, as telegraphed as it was with her little battle cry. Even her followup attacks were mundane and uninspired, and he managed to block and deflect the bulk of them using his Aranea limbs. Her seemingly random movement patterns would have thrown off a lesser opponent, especially an organic one with the normal number of extremities, but Pin was - quite literally - better armed than that, and made it through her volley with little more than a few scuffs on his armor’s paint and some smudges on the chrome of his Aranea arms. As she threw blow after blow, she berated and belittled him, trying to elicit an emotional response to be sure. If anything, she was just confusing him - why waste all this time and energy on such a basic assault? Did she not realize she was fighting a literal machine? Was she...was she trying to tire him out? “ Oh, that’s adorable!” he said, his voice dripping with mockery, “ You’re trying to ‘rope-a-dope’ me! I hate to disappoint you Gigi, but for you I’m no stepping stone. I’m a ceiling.” With that, Pin launched into his own barrage, leading with a leaping knee strike aimed at Gira’s face, to be followed by a series of thrusts and strikes from his four chrome Aranea arms, their sharp claws reaching and grasping, trying to rip at her skin whenever they came close. He doubted he would give her any grievous wounds this way, but any amount of bleeding would be to his benefit, even superficial amounts. He would teach her the difference between flesh and steel, that one was tireless and one was not. He would teach her this lesson in the hopes that he might one day have to learn it for himself. He wasn’t here for anything so frivolous as power, after all. __________________________ No techs used, +1 KP KP 3/3 [U17] Gira

Gira laughed at the android's retort to her taunt, keeping up her assault. "You have no idea how many times i've heard lines like that... before I crush the arrogant fool beneath my boot!" It was true. In the hybrid's admittedly brief time in her current state, she had slain many warriors in every corner of the galaxy in search of the strongest opponent and many indeed had lines similar to Pin's. They all thought they were something grand, but the hybrid was quick to prove them all wrong. She had no clue yet about Pin, however. Her behavior at this point was more of a front. The fact her opponent was an android made her slightly uncomfortable. She hadn't fought many of them and those she had fought were rather weak, so they fell to her quickly. She knew that they didn't have any energy to sense, however. She didn't like uncertainty in that regard. Everyone in her tier was of equal power with her, however, so she at least knew his strength. Still, as she discovered with the smokescreen, the advantage to having no power to sense went beyond that. Gira discovered that with the smokescreen. With a smirk, Gira taunted some more. "You are no different than they were!" Then, Pin began to fight back. It started with a leaping knee to the face, which collided with the young woman's nose. She pulled back her face, blood now dripping from her nose. Then began Pin's own assault. Those extra limbs were rather difficult to dodge, Gira barely managing to bob and weave through the strikes before attempting a kick to Pin's stomach. Should that succeed, she would kick off from the android's midsection and leap backwards to put some distance between her and Pin. Those extra limbs were concerning. It was almost like fighting multiple opponents at once. Gira narrowed her eyes at her opponent and wiped her nose, spitting the blood that dripped down into her mouth onto the ring. 'I'd best keep my distance for now. At least until I have an effective counter-strategy. Making him attack from afar or close the distance on his own might be helpful as well.' The scowl on the hybrid's face soon gave way to a smile as she aimed two outstretched palms towards Pin. Suddenly, her expression grew serious as she fired off a torrent of small ki blasts in Pin's direction, aiming at Pin, but also the area around him if he tried to dodge.

Pin felt a deep sense of satisfaction as his knee connected with Gira’s face, staining his white armor with a deep crimson smear as he continued his barrage of attacks. He could tell that Gira was unused to fighting against someone with his particular style, that she was thrown by his extra limbs. This sort of thing is exactly why he installed them in the first place - when an attack could come from one of eight limbs, and four of them could deliver a blow from some very unique angles, most organic fighters had difficulty defending effectively. This, combined with her apparent unfamiliarity with battling androids would give him the advantage he would need to pull out a win on this one. Still, he needed to keep his wits about him, as was evidenced by Gira planting her foot directly into his stomach and using him to launch herself further away. If he’d had breath, it would have been knocked right out of him, but instead the attack mostly just stalled him and pushed him back on his heels. As she took her distance, she spat blood and opened her palms for another barrage of minor ki attacks in a wide spread. Pin raised an eyebrow behind his helmet. This gave him an idea. As the ki blasts made their way towards him, he took a step back, as if hesitating. “ Ah, cra-” he said, crossing his arms in front of his face just before the blasts made impact. Each of them exploded on contact, kicking up more smoke, adding to the existing smokescreen all around him. This was what he wanted. He’d had to take a few small hits, and they stung more than he’d have expected - if he had blood and flesh, he’d be coming away with some nasty bruises. But the smoke and the anticipation were what he wanted. He let the silence hang for just a moment, a fraction of a second just long enough to trick Gira into thinking maybe she’d won, maybe the android had been exactly as weak as she’d been boasting. And in that moment, he launched his Aranea arms forward. He’d designed them not just to be additional limbs, but to be telescopic - an idea he’d gotten by studying the fighting styles of planet Namek. His telescopic tentacle arms rushed towards her, and would wrap themselves around her, entangling her and pinning her limbs. Once he got a good hold, Pin would rush forward, holding Gira at the maximum length of his Aranea Arms. In this moment, the whole of the arena would hear the roaring of his internal engines, the sign that he’d finally kicked himself into Overdrive. He’d been careful with it, held it back as long as he could, but he would need it for this plan. He would need the sudden and unexpected ferocity and speed that Overdrive, the Mama’s Boy, would give him. Once he reached the edge of the Arena with Gira, his Aranea arms would slam-dunk her face-first into the ‘Out of Bounds’ area. He didn’t have to beat her in a fight. He just had to ring her out. “ Time to take out the trash!” ____________________________________ KP 3/3 Pin has attempted to Grapple and Ring Out Gira! [U17] Gira

Gira paused briefly after her blasts collided with Pin, kicking up a thick smokescreen that covered his half of the arena. Was he gone? Did she win? The hybrid frowned. No, he wouldn't go down that easily. She didn't intend to take him down with that barrage, and if the past few minutes had been any indication, Pin was a competent fighter. She hadn't even gotten serious yet, so it was highly unlikely that Pin simply ringed out or was knocked out. 'What are you planning...?' Gira wondered to herself, waiting for whatever plan that the android had in mind, not dropping her guard for even a second. She wouldn't have to wait for long, however. Without warning, Pin's Aranea arms flew out of the smokescreen and towards Gira.
She didn't have enough time to dodge normally, so she only had one option. As Pin attempted to grapple the dark Gira with his arms, he would find that his grip simply wrapped around the air. She had vanished. Following the arms, the hybrid moved to her opponent's location, positioning herself at his back. That was a close one. She would have been completely at his mercy if that had succeeded. Now, she had no choice but to take him seriously. That was why she chose to use this technique. As she appeared behind Pin, her hands were cupped at her side. Gira narrowed her eyes at Pin through the smoke. Black and white energy formed in the space between her palms. 'Let's see how you like this!' After a brief half second of mustering energy, the hybrid threw her palms forward towards her opponent.
"HA!" A beam of black and white energy fired out of her palms at almost point blank range from Pin's back. It wasn't her most powerful attack, but it was a good start. It was clear at this point that she was finally taking him seriously. Once her attack was done, Gira would stand up straight and grip her long coat, throwing it to the side and out of the ring. "I will admit, you almost had me there. You've made your point. I suppose you are more than just a stepping stone. I'm going to get serious now, so I hope you don't regret annoying me." She took up a defensive stance and waited for their battle to resume.

By the time Pin realized he’d grabbed nothing, he’d already launched himself forward, giving up his position. He cursed to himself under his breath. He wasn’t surprised, necessarily, but rather just frustrated. He had no desire to drag this fight out any longer than it needed to go. He wondered if he’d waited too long in the smoke, given Gira too long to think about what had happened. By the time he realized she was behind him, however, it was just a moment too late. She launched some sort of energy attack from very close range. He shifted to his right in a vain attempt to get out of the way, but it was no good. The blast struck him, and sent him tumbling forward. His armor screeched as it dragged across the Arena floor, and his lower-left tentacle arm was blown to pieces. “ Annoying you?” he said, dismissing a series of alerts from his HUD. “ If that’s all I’ve been doing, I guess I need to just get to business then so you can go home, and I can move on to the next contestant.” He pushed himself up, first to a kneeling position, and then to standing. His internal engines idled loudly, an indicator that his Overdrive was still active. He gritted his teeth, and took a few steps forward, towards his opponent. She should have kept on him once he was down. She shouldn’t have stopped to talk. But she wasn’t here to fight. She wasn’t here to fulfill some grand wish. She’d said it herself - she just wanted strength. He’d show her strength. A port over his left shoulder slid open, and his Shoulder Cannon deployed from within, locking into place with a metallic -shuff-. His engines roared to life anew, and the air around him grew hotter, glowing with a wavy orange aura. From within the barrel of his cannon came a warm orange glow, energy building within. He was done playing cat and mouse. ___________________________________________ Pin is hit by Gira’s attack, losing one of his extra limbs! Charging [MP3] Thermal Detonator. Next charge 200%! Gira smirked when she saw the outcome of her ambush. Pin had fallen to the ground, one of his mechanical arms having been mangled to a point where it was now beyond use. The hybrid kept her eyes on Pin, refusing to let him out of her sight for a single second. Since she couldn't rely on her sixth sense, she would lean on her other senses. At Pin's retort, the half-Saiyan chuckled darkly. "You have some determination, I will give you that... misguided though it might be." She tensed up as Pin began to charge up his attack. Perhaps she should have continued her assault after that Kamehameha. Her opponent was in a vulnerable position after all. Even Gira couldn't answer that question. Perhaps Pin intrigued her?
He had shown a level of power and spirit that Gira had rarely seen in her opponents. Maybe she wanted to see what else he had up his sleeve. This development was rather interesting. He seemed to be building up a great deal of power with his most recent attack. In fact, it might even be something of a problem if she allowed Pin to go through with whatever he was planning. The hybrid leaped across the ring and towards her opponent, firing a barrage of ki blasts towards him as he charged his technique. "Oh no you don't!" She would then land at his back, turning to aim a flurry of punches at his back, aiming to pressure him into either firing his attack or changing up his strategy. She had an uncharacteristically goofy smile on her face.
It seemed more at home on the face of her Universe 15 counterpart, in fact. A little bit of Gira's former self was still in there and it always seemed to come out when she was having a good battle. No matter how hard this parasitic worm tried to snuff out every bit of the former Gira's personality, bits and pieces would sometimes surface. It truly was a point of annoyance for the dark hybrid.

“ You talk so fucking much but say so fucking little. Talk of such great power but you’ve not shown me a scrap of it. Will your wish be to stop being such a disappointing child?” Pin spoke through gritted teeth as the raging engine within him poisoned his usual light banter with its characteristic hostility and spite. The hotter his engine ran, the more he couldn’t stand the woman in front of him. Her voice grated on his ears, and the sight of her made him wish he had a stomach just so he could throw up. The Mama’s Boy was pure hatred, pure anger, pure Saiyan fury, programmed into him by a ‘father’ who wanted so much to please his warrior wife. He could feel the heat building within his Shoulder Cannon like it had so many times before in so many battles. He’d run this exact strategy in the past, though in most cases he was against a far superior enemy, with a far inferior ally to run distraction. By his estimation, the differences cancelled each other out. Gira was selected as his opponent because she was, at least with regards to overall potential combat ability, his equal. She was a Super Saiyan, to be sure, but she was no Habana, no Zuccetta. Hell, she was barely a Tulip. When Gira fired her energy towards him, his HUD flashed with a warning, flagging them as imminent, but minor threats. He raised his arms once more to absorb the bulk of their impact, but planted his feet firmly and continued to pour energy into his cannon. When she appeared as his back, his HUD flashed once more to warn him of her incoming barrage of punches. His three remaining Aranea arms, flexible and mounted on his back to begin with, coiled up into impromptu shields, blocking the punches with the ringing sound of hardened Saiyan flesh against tempered Saiyan steel. And still, his cannon grew hotter, and from deep within it began to whine with power. “ You are little more than a ripple, an infant wave, and I am the stony shore upon which you will break. Swell and crash all you like, I will not be deterred." _________________________________________________________________ Pin has continued charging [MP3] Thermal Detonator! Next Charge 300%!
