"UGHHHHH." The zoanthrope groaned as her humanoid friend flipped through the channels on their somewhat cheap TV. The two had just scraped enough money to afford a run down apartment in Satan City. It had rats, bugs, and what seemed to be bullet holes. To top it all off, the apartment was as well located in the most shady alleyway imaginable. Sometimes Mitsu could swore she heard screams just outside their apartment. But she was always too scared to check through the windows, that and she was lazy of course. At first, she tried to make the best of the whole building despite it's...flaws. But even she soon got bored and tired of it all. Chip, the zoanthrope groaning, felt that way the moment she stepped in the house, so not much changed in that aspect.
So there they were, laying on their mice infested couch, going through what seemed to be billions of channels. Mitsu wasn't even checking whether or not the channels were even good anymore, she's just instinctively flicking through them all without giving a second look. After a while of...well, nothing, Chip finally snaps out of her half asleep faze. "H-Hey, shouldn't we get some food?" Mitsu stared at Chip, then back at the refrigerator in the other room being wide open with it's handle swinging left and right. Inside there was no food in sight besides a rotten, expired banana. "Yeah, we really need some.."
They stood up from the coach and walked through their half broken door, then began walking to the market. The smell of garbage and litter filled their noses. The smell would've disgusted any onlookers, but Chip and Mitsu, along with any resident within their shady area, had gotten used it. The duo walked down the wobbly stairs just right off their balcony and onto the streets of the famous city. All of this may seem mundane, but that's really how city life was. Nothing really happened and all of it was dull. Mitsu had to be honest, this really wasn't how she expected her life to be in here. She actually didn't even know what her expectations for the city was in the first place, but she knew it was definitely higher than living in a run down apartment.. What seemed to only be a couple of days staying in Satan City, turned into weeks of boredom with nothing really happening. All of it really brought down Mitsu's usually energetic and optimistic mood, changing it into that of slightly sarcastic and ironic. Chip, on the other hand, relatively remained the same, but she enjoyed Mitsu's new personality as they'd always argue with eachother before. But now, they were relatively the same.
Don't misunderstand Chip, she really likes Mitsu's usual happy tone of mood, but even that can get tiring and hard to deal with. After a one or two minute walk, Chip and Mitsu finally arrived at the market. "Shit, I ran out of money," Mitsu said as she struggled around in her wallet. "Well, y'know when we don't have money we can just.." Before Chip continued she grabbed an apple out of one of the carts, with the owner not noticing. "Steal. We can just steal." "Wait but-" Mitsu paused for a moment, before continuing to speak. "You know what, why not?" "Really? I'd think you'd be the last person willing to steal." Mitsu shrugged. "I'm a new person I guess. Living in this garbage city took a toll on me." Chip stood in silence. Wow, she's actually turning cool! Did I cause this? I did a lot of bad things around her lately. Actually, I've always done bad things around her.. Maybe my influence is affecting her.. Or was it the 'garbage city' like she said? Maybe it's both? Her thoughts shut off as she searched for an answer. "How about we take ten more?" "Jokes on you, I was already about to do that." Chip simply smirked as she picked up more of the fruits, varying from oranges to strawberries.
The two started to walk off, before Mitsu saw a pocket thief running away with what appeared to be a diamond necklace! It took a second for Mitsu to process it, before realizing a fact. She was just as bad as the thief! She was stealing goods from innocent people just like him! After a feminine scream erupted, along with a cacophony of startled noises, Mitsu's head just snapped in place, like that of a puzzle piece. She was back to her old self. "We have to get that robber!" Chip looked up after nearly eating one of the apples. "What do you mean? It's just another pocket thief, that happens in this city nearly every day or two. Besides, I'm ready to go home and binge more TV.." "Too bad! Now put those fruits back! We're about to catch a thief!" After a moment of thinking, Chip snapped to life. "Oh no, you're back to your old self! I was just getting used to your new personality.." By now, Mitsu already started running towards the thief, screaming cliché hero lines, making the people's screams into strange stares. Chip groaned again. "Atleast something exciting's happening for once."
