Today was the day Pota was gonna face down a truly fearsome opponent. One who was so daunting even Saiyans of the strongest caliber feared it. Some spent whole lifetimes without defeating it or even dared to take up the challenge. And that opponent is...A job. Pota had been looking for one for awhile after he realized even the homeless were more wealthy than he was. He had put in application after application but each time he did he wouldn't hear back from anything.
He landed one interview but his tail slipped out of his pants and the man chased him out of his establishment at gun point. Screaming all the while about how the Saiyan invasion had burnt down his last business and he wouldn't let a "Monkey" burn it down again. Pota couldn't really blame him the invasion had been a rather recent wound still in the minds of the citizens of West Capitol. He himself even as a Saiyan had been subject to their brutality even at the hands of those he thought would never hurt him with malice. As the thought crossed his mind he rubbed the fresh scars his brother Onio had given him sadly. Pota sighed as he thought of giving up and just enlisting in the Blue Banner Army. It wasn't what he wanted but he needed an income.
As he walked down the street he passed his and master Gira's favorite restaurant. Where he had first gotten his passion for cooking and basically where him and Gira first meet. Prior to beating up thugs in the street and proclaiming himself the sidekick of the Great Watcher of West Capitol. His stomach rumbled at the thought of old man Sora's famous barbecue fried squid. However he didn't want the guy to waste his cooking supplies on an nonpaying customer and he knew the old man couldn't refuse him he was too nice. Pota wasn't the type to take advantage like that though. especially not with his appetite, he'd eat him into bankruptcy.
"Hey Pota you've never walked past this establishment before and whats with the long face?" Pota would turn to see Sora standing there with his cooking apron on and a sign in his hand. As he turned to face him the cook's expression changed to that of worry at seeing Pota's new scars. "By Kami who did that to you!?!" Pota lowered his gaze to the ground trying to hide his scars and his shame.
"Sorry old man I don't want to talk about it..." The kind man smiled half with worry half with understanding and put the sign and walk up to Pota putting reassuring hand on his shoulder. Little did Pota know but the old man had thought of him as a son and truly worried about him especially now.
"Come on tough guy lets get inside and get you something to eat." Pota lowered his gaze again.
"I have no Zeni to pay for it old man thanks though." Pota turned to walk away towards Kaci's house he hadn't the heart to fly and it looked like rain today. Before he could though Sora called after him.
"Employees don't pay here especially one's who are such good customers." This made Pota stop in his tracks and turn around as he saw Sora tear a "Help Wanted" sign in half and toss it in the dumpster. "You're living with Kaci Graves her mom came by to get food for her and Gira one day and mentioned you were looking for a job. Until just now I thought you had found one. And it just so happens that I came into enough money to hire a cook recently. Mrs. Graves also said you no stranger to a stove so in my opinion you're my first choice." Sora smiled and gestured to come inside as he cooked up three dozen squids for him and Pota. As they sat there eating a call came in and Sora answered. "Hello...Why hello Miss Otamot how are you...Yes doing great just hired a new cook...Alright...The usual...Okay we'll whip it up and get it out there immediately...Okay thank you very much he'll be there in about an hour."
As he hung up the phone he smiled at Pota. "Alright how do you feel about making a delivery?" Pota smirked and did a cape flip cooking apron style standing there in his signature Great Monkey Man pose on one foot and a hand outstretched with the other reaching behind him.
"Lets do this!!" Sora smiled as he and Pota cooked up a storm and a half coming out to a total of six orders of fried rice and shrimp, ten 5 lbs steaks, another dozen fried barbecue squid and five pitchers of mango sweet tea. after everything was cooked and securely packed Sora gave Pota the directions to Otamot's house and told him to try and beat the storm. Pota nodded as he went up into the air flying towards the direction Sora said her house was in.
'This is alot of food she must be a Saiyan if she's eating all this by herself.' He thought to himself as he approached the house looking up and seeing a storm brewing. As he was about to knock on the door it opened revealing an middle aged Saiyan probably a couple of decades older than himself with the same signature dark eyes, and spiked hair with her tail wrapped around her slender waist.
"I'm guessing you're Pota so You're a Saiyan too how interesting" Pota smiled and scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
"Yeah I thought the same of you according to your order you got quite the appetite even for Saiyan" Otamot chuckled happily and handed Pota the money for the order.
"Well I can't take all the credit she said" As she completed his sentence a younger Saiyan around Pota's age walked down her living room stairs.
"Mom is the food here I'm starving! I could eat a mountain of steak! Oh-Hello you must be the new cook for Sora my mom was talking about didn't know you were a Saiyan too." She said hold out her tiny hand smiling a warm smile. "My name is Egabbac." When she held out her hand Pota almost forgot to respond and began to involuntarily blush before shaking himself out of his trance.
"Oh I'm Pota sorry I'm a little tired." He would smile and laugh nervously. Otamot chuckled to herself and handed Egabbac the food.
"Go put this on the Table and I'll be in shortly. Don't eat it all you little glutton." Egabbac smiled and stuck her tongue out playfully at her mother as she smiled at Pota and waved.
"Bye Pota nice meeting you." Pota simply got more red and waved back without saying a word. Otamot looked at him and smiled knowingly.
"So Pota have you mastered your Great Ape form yet?" Drawn back to the he looked at her and shook his head.
"No, not yet but I thought of going into the wilderness on the next full moon" Otamot nodded and scratched behind her ear.
"Well thats dangerous you need someone experienced to reign you in I know due to Egabbac took her until recently to master hers. So how about this you come out here every full moon and we'll train you. After all I'm not gonna allow you to even ask her out if you can't even master Oozaru." Pota was taken aback by the proclamation and before he could protest (He learned what dating was recently...finally) Otamot waved. "Give Sora my best." And she shut the door leaving Pota as red as a strawberry. As he began to fly back to the restaurant he sensed some unfamiliar energies at the place along with Sora. When he got above he looked down and saw three large men standing down Sora. However one he couldn't sense.
"An Android? What do they want with Sora."
"Now old man we want all that money the Blue Banner Army dropped off here yesterday or you won't have a restaurant. You'll have a pile of bricks" Sora simply glared at the Android.
"You're not getting anything out of me B-28. My brother-in-arms he left it to me and no outdated model is gonna take it from me!" The android chuckled and smiled a wolfish smile.
"Well can't say I didn't give you a chance after all we use to be brother's-in-arms too did we not?"
"That's Different B-28 you became a thug you killed alot of good people!! You crippled Tuxedo!! And now you want his inheritance go FUCK YOURSELF! You selfish hunk of metal!!" With that the android snapped his fingers as his lackey's charged. But Sora wasn't a push over he powered up with an explosion of blue ki as he ducked under one thugs punch and jabbed him in the chin. Then pivoted away from the other's round house kick grabbed his leg and smashed him into the wall of his restaurant. "Now I'll say this once more for old times sake Bee. LEAVE!" Shouted Sora as he did so B-28 rushed up to him and gut punched him sending him to the ground.
Pota had his fill at this point this guy wasn't human he didn't need to hold back. He removed his weighted shirt and wrist bands as he threw them at the android. As they collided with him they cracked his covering revealing his circuits and wiring underneath. "WHAT THE F-!!" Pota's fist promptly smashed into his now open circuits sending him flying into a wall and causing him to temporarily shut down.
"Old man you okay!!" Pota helped Sora up and he smiled at the young Saiyan.
"I'm fine Pota man I didn't know you were that strong." He laughed
"You're one to talk where did you learn to fight like that?" Pota laughed looking at the old cook in a new light now.
"Time in the Blue Banner Army kid now lets go inside and call them I know a guy who wants this criminal scum behind bars."
The End
